Hello Vasanthi.. A larger sump probably would have been better, but any sump increases the gallonage of the system and is beneficial in that way.. Trickle filters are fine - in fact they are very efficient because of the amount of oxygen available to the bacteria. The only 'problem' with them is that they deal with ammonia and nitrite, produce nitrate and at that point the Nitrogen Cycle stops. Nitrate tests are necessary (as they are anyway but more particularly with a trickle filter). Routine seawater changes usually deal with the problem, but if an excess nitrate level persists there are other ways of tackling it..
