*  Comfrey Uses for Herbal Remedies: Growing Comfrey & Comfrey Tea Benefits | Natural Remedies.org
Brett, I've heard of good results on horses. I've been using Comfrey over 45 years in different forms. A friend first told me about using comfrey to successfully heal an old broken lower arm. A healer helped me during an achilles heal inflammation from stiff new boots, while working on our tree-planting crew. I was shown nearby comfrey plants, then instructed to chew them to add saliva & malleability necessary for easier poultice skin absorption. My heel immediately allowed me to wear my boots & engage in tree planting on steep slopes. After a few days, I stopped using the comfrey poultice & the heel re-inflamed. I immediately put on the poultice & it healed completely in a another week of comfrey poultices all the while allowing me to plant without bother.. I've intentionally grown comfrey in my garden now over 35 years, so to have easy access to the leaves, flowers & fresh buds. I add the fresh leaves to ...

*  Comfrey, An All-Time Favorite Herb for Burns and Wounds - Breast Cancer Authority
By Diana Ross, E-RYT 500, Co-Founder of Breast Cancer Yoga.. As I watch Comfrey come into full bloom I can't help but appreciate it's power to heal. The best remedy I know for wounds and burns of ANY kind, is Comfrey. It is known as 'the Miracle Herb', and it is unfortunate that the drug companies have, in my opinion, closed off the 'research' into the herb Comfrey, Symphytum officinale, which has resulted in Comfrey being banned just about everywhere in the world. Even though this plant contains poisonous chemicals called pyrrolizidine alkaloids (PAs), the leaf, root, and root-like stem (rhizome) are used to make medicine. Comfrey leaves are of great value as an external remedy, both in the form of poultice, for sprains, swellings and bruises, and for severe cuts, burns and rashes.. In (TCM) Traditional Chinese Medicine the skin or Wei Chi (which includes the lungs) is the largest organ in the body, and it is understandable ...

*  All Of Nature's Strength Is Gathered In This Plant- It Even Treats Fractures! ~ HealthyAeon
Comfrey has a root similar to beet and large, hairy leaves. It contains alantoin which encourages the creation of new cells, thus making comfrey a great remedy for different types of injuries, cracked skin, cuts, and excessive bleeding. Additionally, comfrey is used for compresses against bone ache and gout. Extract from comfrey leaves has a beneficial effect on painful joints by decreasing the ache and the consequences from the injury. It can be also used by people who spend a lot of time in front of a computer and experience back pain. Ointments and comfrey tinctures can treat sprained ankles, swellings and ache, as well as sport injuries and sore muscles. The alantonin, contained in the comfrey leaves, helps in quick skin regeneration as it encourages the growth of new cells. Therefore, comfrey ointments are an excellent tool in the fight against bruises, cuts, and wounds. What's more, ...

*  Comfrey - BELIEVE the HYPE!
Thanks for your comment. It's worth noting that dynamic accumulator is just another way of saying mineral accumulator which has been around in gardening text books long before Robert Kourik. I base my opinions on my knowledge of basic plant physiology. A plant feeding from lower root zones where other plants cannot access will inevitably return a portion of these minerals to top soil where they are again accessible to other plants or as the root systems of the comfrey (2m in depth in some cases) decompose underground they are moved through the soil profile by worms, grubs, moles etc and will inevitably be located in regions where other surface feeding plants can gain access to the nutrients. There are a number of leaf analysis reports from comfrey in the Lawrence D Hills books that show high concentration of minerals in the leaves, true this does not necessarily mean they came from the sub soil but it does indicate that an excellent range of essential nutrients can be found ...

*  Balkan Ecology Project : How much Comfrey can you grow on 13m2 ? - Comfrey Trial Results Year 1
Planting Material - It's easy to plant out with crown divisions or root cuttings in the spring when the soil has warmed. A crown division can be obtained from simply putting a spade through the center of a mature comfrey plant and transplanting the divided sections. For our patch I divided 2 yr old plants into quarters, sometimes sixths, and these established very well in the first year. We did not harvest the leaf biomass in the first year in order to allow a deep root system to develop. However if you use large divisions you can start harvesting in July ...
