*  Spirituality, Dreams and Prophecy: The Cylindrical UFOs of Saturn, and Emanuel Swedenborg
I am finding that there is just no end to the amount of information we have on extraterrestrial UFOs. In a previous blog entitled Emanuel Swedenborg was right, and NASA is hiding it, there is an excellent presentation on UFOs by Bob Dean, who had a long career in the U.S. military. Towards the end, he briefly discussed some huge UFOs in the rings of Saturn which were caught in Voyager pictures. This caused the scientist Norman R. Bergrun to publish a book entitled The Ringmakers of Saturn, in which he theorized that these huge cylindrical ships were making the rings of Saturn. Bob Dean says the opposite is more likely: they are mining the rings of Saturn. Voyager 2 passed by Saturn in 1981. So I was wondering, are there any more recent sightings of cylindrical UFOs in the vicinity of Saturn? In previous articles I had discussed evidence of extraterrestrial UFOs near the Moon and Mars - plus an anomaly on ...

*  Saturn Moon Titan Topographically Mapped By Cassini - Redorbit
April Flowers for redOrbit.com - Your Universe Online. The first global topographical map of Saturn´s moon Titan was created by scientists at the Cassini-Huygens mission. The map, published as part of a paper in the journal Icarus, will give researchers a valuable tool for learning more about one of the most Earth-like and interesting worlds in the solar system.. With a radius of approximately 1,600 miles, Titan is Saturn´s largest moon. As the second-largest moon in the Solar System, Titan is larger than the planet Mercury. Titan is of scientific interest because it is the only moon in the system known to have clouds, surface liquids and a mysterious, thick atmosphere.. Like Earth, Titan´s atmosphere is mostly nitrogen. However, the organic compound methane on Titan acts the way water does on Earth. The methane forms clouds, falls as rain and carves rivers into the surface. Methane-derived organic chemicals are present in Titan´s atmosphere, lakes and rivers, and might just ...

*  Cassini spacecraft ends 13-year odyssey with fiery plunge into Saturn - Channel NewsAsia
The transmissions are expected to include unprecedented data from the atmosphere's upper fringe, about 1,190 miles (1,915 km) above Saturn's cloudtops. The data took 84 minutes to reach NASA antennas in Canberra, Australia, Maize said.. The final dive ended a mission that gave scientists a ringside seat to the sixth planet from the sun. The spacecraft's discoveries included seasonal changes on Saturn, a hexagon-shaped pattern on its north pole and the moon Titan's resemblance to a primordial Earth.. Cassini also found a global ocean on the moon Enceladus, with ice plumes spouting from its surface. Enceladus has become a promising lead in the search for places outside Earth that could support life.. The spacecraft has produced 450,000 images and 635 gigabytes of data since it began probing Saturn and its 62 known moons in July 2004.. Cassini, a cooperative project between NASA, the European Space Agency and the Italian Space Agency, was launched into space in ...

*  NASA spacecraft embarks on ring-skimming mission at Saturn | 89.3 KPCC
Consider it a cosmic carousel with countless rings up for grabs.. NASA's Saturn-orbiting spacecraft, Cassini, has begun an unprecedented mission to skim the planet's rings. On Tuesday, Cassini got a gravitational assist from Saturn's big moon Titan. That put the spacecraft on course to graze Saturn's main outer rings over the next five months.. The first orbit of this new venture begins Wednesday night. Then on Sunday, an engine firing by Cassini should seal the deal, with the spacecraft making its first ring crossing.. The probe's orbit will graze those signature bands once every seven days from now until April, analyzing the milky bands around the planet along the way.. Those bands around Saturn are actually made of countless ice and rock particles swirling in space. There are even moon that orbit within the rings and smaller chunks that spin like propellors, clearing the debris around them.. "You can kind of think of ...

*  NASA Spacecraft Reveals Icy Plumes on Saturn Moon - Redorbit
WASHINGTON -- One of Saturn's moons is spraying icy particles into space from the area around its south pole, a sure sign of geologic activity, NASA reported on Tuesday.. Recent images captured by the Cassini spacecraft reveal what looks at first like the narrow crescent shape of a solar eclipse, with plumes of particles being ejected from the Saturn moon Enceladus.. "For planetary explorers like us, there is little that can compare to the sighting of activity on another solar system body," Carolyn Porco, Cassini imaging team leader at the Space Science Institute in Boulder, Colorado, said in a statement.. "This has been a heart-stopper, and surely one of our most thrilling results.". Images and more information are available online at http://ciclops.org.. The Cassini images show multiple jets emanating from the moon's south polar region. Scientists suspect these jets arise from warm fractures, known as tiger stripes.. A faint extended plume stretches some 300 miles above ...

*  Cassini Spacecraft Snaps Pictures of Saturn's Geyser-Spouting Moon - 80beats : 80beats
The Cassini spacecraft that has been busily exploring Saturn and its moons swooped to within 30 miles of the tiny moon Enceladus yesterday, and has already begun sending back images of the fissures near the moon's south pole. The icy moon, which is about 310 miles wide, has tantalized scientists with geyser-like eruptions of icy water vapor that were first spotted in 2005…. The eruptions produce a halo of frozen water vapor and gas that replenishes Saturn's E-ring as Enceladus circles the planet [SPACE.com].. The Cassini took images of the fissures, which scientists call the moon's "tiger stripes," in the infrared spectrum as well, to gain further information about the temperatures in the vents; previous studies had shown temperatures there can reach a relatively balmy -135 degrees Fahrenheit, which is 200 degrees Fahrenheit warmer than the rest of the moon. While the material sprayed out of the fissures consists of frozen water vapor, scientists disagree on whether an ...

*  NASA's Cassini Spacecraft Detects Monstrous Ice Cloud in Titan, Saturn's Moon
NASA's Cassini spacecraft has discovered a huge cloud of ice or frozen compounds on Saturn's moon, Titan, around the southern pole of the object. This growing cloud is detected at the mid-stratosphere, the stable atmospheric region above the troposphere or active weather layer of the body.. Get the Free Tracker App to find WowWee Fingerlings. At an altitude of nearly 186 miles or 300 kilometers, Cassini's camera captured the huge cloud hovering over the southern region of Titan, but it was eventually found in 2012 to be not much, but now a larger ice cloud is observed lower in the stratosphere at an altitude of about 124 miles or 200 kilometers.. Deploying its Composite Infrared Spectrometer or CIRS, Cassini's infrared instrument monitors the body's atmosphere at thermal wavelengths which is invisible to see. Considering its low density, the cloud of the object is just like fog on Earth, NASA reported.. Cassini has been able to witness the transition of fall to winter at the south pole of ...

*  Atmosphere of Titan, Saturn's Moon - Windows to the Universe
Titan is the only moon in our Solar System with a significant atmosphere. Titan's atmosphere consists mostly of nitrogen, and is so thick that the atmospheric pressure at the moon's surface is about 60% greater than Earth's atmospheric pressure.. Titan's atmosphere also has a significant amount of methane. Bombardment of the methane by solar ultraviolet radiation has produced trace amounts of numerous other hydrocarbons. These organic molecules create several layers of smog-like haze in the moon's atmosphere, obscuring views of Titan's surface.. The Cassini spacecraft has observed clouds in Titan's atmosphere near the moon's poles. Temperatures are so cold (-178 C, -288 F) on Titan that methane is a liquid at the surface. Scientists believe that methane and ethane may fall as rain and snow from the clouds in Titan's atmosphere onto its frigid surface. This image shows the predicted structure of Titan's atmosphere. New results from the Huygens probe will likely revise our knowledge of the ...

*  Some Scientists Deem Saturn Moon Titan Dry - Redorbit
LOS ANGELES -- Scientists peering through a ground-based telescope say the surface of Saturn's planet-sized moon Titan appears dry and not awash in oceans of liquid hydrocarbons as is commonly believed. Titan - one of two moons in the solar system known to have a significant atmosphere - has long baffled scientists because it's surrounded by a thick blanket of nitrogen and methane. Scientists have speculated that the atmospheric methane probably came from seas of liquid methane and ethane. But telescopes and orbiting spacecraft have yet to turn up evidence of a global ocean of methane on Titan. In the latest study, scientists using the Keck II telescope in Hawaii failed to see any reflections of sunlight that would indicate a body of liquid on the frozen moon during several viewings in 2003 and 2004, said lead researcher Robert West of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena. Results appear in Thursday's issue of the journal Nature. The latest Earth-based observations were focused on ...
