En la década de los años setenta se inicia la colección de plantas que actualmente constituye el Herbario "Jaime Andrés Rodríguez" -LEB- de la Universidad de León. Se ha dedicado expresamente a la memoria de quien impulsó su creación y fue el primer profesor de Botánica de esta institución.
