Westernmost Mediterranean records of three gobiid species (Actinopterygii: Perciformes: Gobiidae)
Information on the distribution of small benthic fish such as gobies is sometimes scattered or incomplete. This is probably due to the sampling difficulties involved in the study of these small fishes at depths below those accessible for SCUBA diving techniques. These are the cases of Buenia massutii Kovačić, Ordines et Schliewen, 2017 (recently described and currently only known from the Balearic Islands (western Mediterranean), the locality where it was described); Vanneaugobius dollfusi Brownell, 1978 (only known from the Adriatic and Aegean seas in the Mediterranean, and from Agadir, the locality of the species’ description in the Atlantic coast of Morocco); and Odondebuenia balearica (Pellegrin et Fage, 1907) (which in the western Mediterranean is only known from scattered localities). The aim of the presently reported study was to improve and significantly extend the information on the distribution of these three species. New records of these gobiids are ...

Morphological study of the gastrointestinal tract of Larimichthys crocea (Acanthopterygii: Perciformes)
The present study aimed to investigate the macroscopic and histological structure of the gastrointestinal tract (GIT) of Larimichthys crocea (Richardson, 1846). It consists of esophagus, stomach regions, pyloric caeca, intestinal regions, and rectum. Sixteen tubular light yellowish pyloric caeca of similar sizes were observed in all individuals. The digestive wall consists of mucosa, submucosa, muscularis, and adventitia. No major differences appeared in the structure of the tunica, epithelial cell types, connective tissues and musculature glands of L. crocea GIT. The mucosal epithelia in the oesophagus has longitudinal branched folds with frontward and hindmost zones. The gastric tunica mucosa has a characteristic folded structure and can be divided into three regions. The intestinal tunica mucosa is characterized by villi structures and numerous mucus-secreting cells. Mucus-secreting goblet cells were strongly positive to AB at pH 2.5 in the oesophagus (excluding gastro-oesophageal junction) and
Northern red snapper - Wikipedia
Northern red snapper are a prized food fish, caught commercially, as well as recreationally. It is sometimes used in Vietnamese canh chua ("Sour soup"). Red snapper is the most commonly caught snapper in the continental US (almost 50% of the total catch), with similar species being more common elsewhere. They eat almost anything, but prefer small fish and crustaceans. They can be caught on both live and cut bait, and also take artificial lures, but with less vigor. They are commonly caught up to 4.5 kg (10 lb) and 510 mm (20 in) in length, but fish over 18 kg (40 lb) have been taken. Recreational fishing for northern red snapper has been popular for a long time, restricted mostly by fishing limits intended to ensure a sustainable population. The first minimum size limit was introduced in 1984, after a 1981 report described quickly declining harvests (both commercial and recreational)[14] From 1985 to 1990, the annual recreational catch of red snapper was about 1.5 million. From 1991 to 2005, the ...
