*  Centre for Community Child Health : Consultancy
The failure of the current service system to meet the needs of children has lasting impacts on the individual, their family, the community and Australian society. Over the long term, the social and economic disadvantage of this early vulnerability is evident in lower educational achievement, social disadvantage, diminished economic returns and increased health, welfare and criminal justice costs. However, with appropriate supports, programs and policies in place, we can counter or prevent negative early experiences and ensure children are on the best pathway for positive outcomes.. At the Centre for Community Child Health, we offer a range of expertise to support policy-makers, service providers, practitioners, and community-based collaborations who are working to improve outcomes for children and families. Our staff have a diverse range of professional backgrounds, including paediatrics, psychology, ...
*  HKU Scholars Hub: Nurses allocation models for maternal and child health services
Maternal and Child Health (MCH) centres in Hong Kong offer, for children aged below six and women of childbearing age, a comprehensive range of health services regularly performed by nurses of different ranks. While each rank has its specific duties, nurses of a higher rank can step down to the work of a more junior rank when necessary. However, cross-regional deployments of nurses occur less frequently. We develop goal programming models of `optimal' MCH nurses allocation. The presence and absence of nurses' `cross-over' of work functions are explicitly considered. The results show that more equitable manpower levelling can be achieved, with flexibility (in the longer term) on cross-regional deployment of nurses as a possible way of operational improvement when the entire MCH service is taken as a whole ...

*  Centre for Community Child Health : About us
At the Centre for Community Child Health, we want the best possible outcomes for children, families and communities. We know that the health and prosperity of our communities and our nation depends on the types of environments and experiences our children have in their early years, starting from conception. If we want children to be healthy, well and to develop the capabilities they will need to become participating, contributing adults, we need to invest wisely in these early years. Early investment is crucial, because it means we can prevent problems from occurring in the first place, or we can intervene early to stop problems becoming more entrenched and more difficult (and costly) to address. ...
