In a new case report, scientists detail a gruesome anteater attack that left one hunter dead in northwestern Brazil, just two years after another man was killed in a similar confrontation with one of the long-nosed creatures. While such incidents are rare and anteaters usually avoid contact with humans, the attacks should serve as a warning to humans encroaching on anteater turf, the authors wrote in the journal Wilderness and Environmental Medicine this month.. Giant anteaters, which live in savanna-like fields in South America and Central America, are the largest of the four living anteater species, and can grow up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) long in adulthood. They have four sharp claws on both of their forelimbs that they can use to quarry anthills and termite mounds - and, apparently, to inflict fatal wounds on humans.. The creatures assume a standing position when they feel threatened, sometimes referred to as an anteaters hug. On the Internet, anteaters standing messiah-like with arms ...
A cladistic analysis of genome assemblies (syntenic associations) for eutherian mammals against two distant outgroup species-opossum and chicken-permitted a refinement of the 46-chromosome karyotype formerly inferred in the ancestral eutherian. We show that two intact chromosome pairs (corresponding to human chromosomes 13 and 18) and three conserved chromosome segments (10q, 19p and 8q in the human karyotype) are probably symplesiomorphic for Eutheria because they are also present as unaltered orthologues in one or both outgroups. Seven additional syntenies (4q/8p/4pq, 3p/21, 14/15, 10p/12pq/22qt, 19q/16q, 16p/7a and 12qt/22q), each involving human chromosomal segments that in various combinations correspond to complete chromosomes in the ancestral eutherian karyotype, are also present in one or both outgroup taxa and thus are probable symplesiomorphies for Eutheria. Interestingly, several of the symplesiomorphic characters identified in chicken and/or opossum are present in more distant ...
The giant anteater has no teeth and is capable of only very limited jaw movement. It relies on the rotation of the two halves of its lower jaw, held together by a ligament at the tip,[13] to open and close its mouth. This is accomplished by its masticatory muscles,[20] which are relatively underdeveloped.[13] Jaw depression creates an oral opening large enough for the slender tongue to flick out. It is typically 60 cm (24 in)[4] long and is triangular posteriorly, rounded anteriorly, and ends in a small, rounded tip.[13] The tongue is covered in backward-curving papillae and coated in thick, sticky saliva secreted from its enlarged salivary glands,[12] which allows the giant anteater to collect insects with it. The tube-like rostrum and small mouth opening restrict the tongue to protrusion-retraction movements. During feeding, the tongue moves in and out around 160 times per minute (nearly three times per second). According to biologist Virginia Naples, these movements are powered by the unique ...

Mother Nature often works in mysterious ways, but the recent birth of a baby anteater has the staff at a Greenwich conservation center stumped. The mystery begins in August, when Armani, a female giant anteater at the LEO Zoological Conservation Center in Greenwich, gave birth to baby Alice. The difference is, those animals are able to delay one pregnancy, but some experts say theyve never seen a second embryo implant after a mammal has just given birth. Stacey Belhumeur, species survival plan coordinator for the North American population of giant anteaters, and a zookeeper at Reid Park Zoo in Tucson, Ariz., said delayed implantation coinciding with another pregnancy has been observed in marsupials, but that it wasnt likely in giant anteaters. Dr. Margarita Woc-Colburn, an associate veterinarian at the Nashville Zoo, which has one of the largest collections of giant anteaters in the country, said some scientific papers have mentioned the scenario in which an animals body pauses a pregnancy until
ANTEATER, a term applied to several mammals, but (zoologically at any rate) specially indicating the tropical American anteaters of the family Myrmecophagidae (see Edentata). The typical and largest representative of the group is the great anteater or ant-bear (Myrmecophaga jubata), an animal measuring 4 ft. in length without the tail, and 2 ft. in height at the shoulder. Its prevailing colour is grey, with a broad black band, bordered with white, commencing on the chest, and passing obliquely over the shoulder, diminishing gradually in breadth as it approaches the loins, where it ends in a point. It is extensively distributed in the tropical parts of South and Central America, frequenting low swampy savannas, along the banks of rivers, and the depths of the humid forests, but is nowhere abundant. Its food consists mainly of termites, to obtain which it opens their nests with its powerful sharp anterior claws, and as the insects swarm to the damaged part of their dwelling, it draws them into its ...

A pair of adorable baby anteaters were filmed playing at a wildlife research and conservation association in Campina Grande do Sul, Brazil, on September 27.Goska Zdziechowska captured this video and originally uploaded it to YouTube. Zdziechowska told Storyful the anteaters, Maria and Joao, were orphaned when wildfires tore through Brazil earlier this year. One of the anteaters was found next to the dead body of its mother. The other, Zdziechowska said, was found in an area the fires had been, leading rescuers to believe the mother was dead or had escaped.Zdziechowska told Storyful, when the pair were brought in they only weighed about 3 kg or 6.6 lbs and now they are both over 6 kg or 13 lbs.

Extant placental mammals are divided into four major clades (Laurasiatheria, Supraprimates, Xenarthra and Afrotheria). Given that Afrotheria is generally thought to root the eutherian tree in phylogenetic analysis of large nuclear gene data sets, the study of the organization of the genomes of afrotherian species provides new insights into the dynamics of mammalian chromosomal evolution. Here we test if there are chromosomal bands with a high tendency to break and reorganize in Afrotheria, and by analyzing the expression of aphidicolin-induced common fragile sites in three afrotherian species, whether these are coincidental with recognized evolutionary breakpoints. We described 29 fragile sites in the aardvark (OAF) genome, 27 in the golden mole (CAS), and 35 in the elephant-shrew (EED) genome. We show that fragile sites are conserved among afrotherian species and these are correlated with evolutionary breakpoints when compared to the human (HSA) genome. Inddition, by computationally scanning the newly

One of the most distinctive characteristics of the aardvark is their teeth. Instead of having a pulp cavity in their tooth, they have a number of thin tubes of dentine (a calcified tissue of the body), each containing pulp held together by cementum (a specialized calcified substance covering the root of a tooth). The teeth have no enamel coating and are worn away and regrow continuously. The Aardvark is born with conventional incisors and canines at the front of the jaw, which fall out and are not replaced. Adult Aardvarks only have cheek teeth at the back of the jaw.. The Aardvark is vaguely pig-like. Its body is stout with an arched back and is sparsely covered with coarse hairs. The limbs are of moderate length. The front feet have lost the pollex (or thumb), resulting in four toes, however, the rear feet have all five toes.. Aardvarks have shovel-shaped claws for digging. Their ears are disproportionately long and the tail is very thick at the base and gradually tapers. Their greatly ...

While this creature sounds very much like a reptile, it is, in fact, a mammal called the pangolin. There are seven species of pangolins scattered through Africa and Asia. Typically, the female pangolin will give birth to a single young one after a 140-day gestation period. When full grown, the young one, like its parents, will be almost two feet long and weigh about 20 pounds. In addition to using its tail for defense, it can also spray a bad-smelling liquid like a skunk. If all else fails, it can roll into a tight armored ball. Its feeding behavior is similar to a nocturnal anteater. The pangolins highly developed sense of smell can actually sniff out ant and termite mounds. When it finds a nest, it uses its long, sticky tongue to collect a meal. Unfortunately, the endangered pangolin is prized as a delicacy as well as a medicine among the hill tribes where it lives. Lions and tigers also feed on pangolins.. Pangolins are another example of Gods unlimited creativity and His power and wisdom ...

Dear Parents,. Happy New Year and we hope you all had an easy and meaningful Yom Kippur.. This week, in honor of the new year, we helped the kids turn their eyes within. At this time of the year, during the holidays, we asked the students to reflect their time here in Israel and their experience so far at Aardvark, on which personal qualities they want to work on during this year away from home and in a new environment. We asked them to think about how they can make their experience this year a positive. What might they want to change in themselves in order to become better people. Of course, none of these questions have easy answers, but at least we started the process.. Part of this self reflection began when we took the students to Tashlich. Tashlich is a ritual that many Jews observe on Rosh HaShanah. Tashlich means casting off in Hebrew and involves symbolically casting off the sins of the previous year by tossing pieces of bread or another food into a body of flowing water. On Monday ...

A corollary crime against nature is that pangolins very rarity has created an additional market for them even as it continues to raise the price of useless scale extracts. Now, as a strange-looking and extremely rare animal, the pangolin can also be found on the secret menus of restaurants, costing dozens of times what less illegal wild meats would cost and sought entirely for the thrill of eating something that is not long for this earth.. Pangolins are nervous and delicate creatures, and trained specialists have difficulty keeping them healthy in captivity. Captive pangolins are prone to bacterial infections, presumably related to the stress of as-yet-not-ideal accommodations. Wild pangolins are solitary and spend a great deal of time hiding in opportunistic burrows, making solid ecological data labor-intensive to acquire. (See also how the only amount of funding humans seem to know how to provide science is way the fuck not enough.) Those whose diets have been studied in detail suggest ...

Its unlikely the world will ever know who patient zero was in the Wuhan outbreak, or from what animal that first human being acquired the deadly virus. But genetic analysis of strains of the coronaviruses found in bats, other animals, and people offers two general insights. First, the virus that was already circulating among the human population in Wuhan in early December is 96 percent identical to a virus found in fruit bats. Its undoubtedly an ancient virus that has inhabited some types of bats, without apparent harm to the animals, for tens of thousands of years. Somehow-possibly inside Wuhans Huanan live animal market-a bats urine or saliva passed to some other caged beast, infecting that animal. Genetic evidence hints-but does not prove-that the intermediary animal was a pangolin, an unusual type of burrowing mammalian anteater that is covered in scales and curls itself into a tight ball when under attack. The most trafficked mammal in the world, pangolins are at risk of extinction ...

First, there are many striking similarities shared by distinct species. In these cases, the similarities could not have evolved independently. The marsupial-placental convergence is a popular example. Over millions of years and in different corners of the earth, the marsupial and placental lineages, supposedly evolving from a mouse-like species, produced a host of similar designs. Everything from saber-toothed carnivores and wolves to flying squirrels and anteaters were produced independently. From salamanders to cacti we find striking similarites that must have arisen independently. If biology is ruled by contingency rather than necesity, then why do we find duplicated designs? When similarities are found among distant species, they are noted as cases of convergent evolution. Evolution can explain either case, but the explanations presuppose evolution. This is not powerful evidence for the theory. (P. 199-200 ...
Imagine an animal with the body of a chameleon, the feet and claws of an anteater, the humped back of a camel, and a tail that is both flattened like a beavers, but also like that of a scorpion. If youre thinking this sounds like someone just threw your local zoo into a blender-or that its not far off from mythical creatures like the chimera or manticore-this would be understandable. But this bonkers description fits a real, long-extinct group of tree-dwelling reptiles that lived more than 200 million years ago. Now, a new species of these freaky little critters has been identified, and its fossilised remains pile onto the anatomical strangeness, showing that this ancient reptile evolved a toothless, remarkably bird-like head in a world 100 million years before birds with heads like this even existed. Background. With their Pan-American distribution, long-nosed armadillos (genus Dasypus) constitute an understudied model for Neotropical biogeography. This genus currently comprises seven recognized species, the nine-banded armadillo (D. novemcinctus) having the widest distribution ranging from Northern Argentina to the South-Eastern US. With their broad diversity of habitats, nine-banded armadillos provide a useful model to explore the effects of climatic and biogeographic events on morphological diversity at a continental scale. Methods. Based on a sample of 136 skulls of Dasypus spp., including 112 specimens identified as D. novemcinctus, we studied the diversity and pattern of variation of internal paranasal cavities, which were reconstructed virtually using µCT-scanning or observed through bone transparency. Results. Our qualitative analyses of paranasal sinuses and recesses successfully retrieved a taxonomic differentiation between the traditional species D. kappleri, D. pilosus and D.
Dasypus novemcinctus is one of 24 mammals that will be sequenced as part of the Mammalian Genome Project, funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The species were chosen to maximise the branch length of the evolutionary tree while representing the diversity of mammalian species.. Low-coverage 2X assemblies will be produced for these mammals and used in alignments for cross-species comparison. The aim is to increase our understanding of functional elements, especially in the human genome. Dasypus novemcinctus is of particular interest to developmental biologists owing to its habit of producing litters of four genetically-identical young, and it is also the animal model for leprosy.. ...
Humans have various relationships with sloths, anteaters, and armadillos. People hunt xenarthrans for food, and they make pets of some species. Sometimes people keep anteaters at home to help get rid of ants. People kill some sloths for their fur pelts. Tamandua is hunted for the tendon, a cord-like tissue that attaches muscle to bone, in its tail. The tendon is used to make rope.. In addition, medical researchers are studying armadillos. They are the only mammals besides humans that contract leprosy, a skin disease. Research on armadillos helps to develop treatment of this condition in people.. ...
There is a limited amount of data on comparisons of home range sizes estimated by VHF radio telemetry and GPS tracking. In the present study, the sizes of winter home ranges determined by GPS averaged 5.3 km2 (K95%) and the core areas 1.3 km2. These estimates were similar or higher than previous measurements conducted with VHF radio telemetry in Finland during the snow-free season (K95%: 1.0-3.9 km2; K50/60%: 0.2-0.7 km2; [5, 60-63]) and in winter (K95%: 3.7 km2; K50%: 0.5 km2; [5]). In a New Zealand study, Recio et al.[64] determined the home range size of feral cats (Felis catus) with GPS and compared it to results obtained by radio telemetry. They concluded that the home range sizes were of a similar magnitude or higher when using GPS. Furthermore, Medri & Mourão [65] reported for the giant anteater (Myrmecophaga tridactyla) that a home range recorded with GPS over 9 days could be larger than a range obtained with VHF tracking over 252 days. These data support our results showing similar or ...
Abstract. The long-nosed armadillos of the Dasypus genus are the richest and more widespread extant xenarthra. In 1933, the prominent Argentinean mammalogist José Yepes studied specimens collected by Salvador Mazza and named a new species: D. mazzai. Several authors interpreted that the holotype of the species was a juvenile of D. novemcinctus. In 1995, Vizcaíno support the synonymy with D. novemcinctus but accepted the existence of an endemic species of northwestern Argentina that dedicated to Yepes (D. yepesi). Morphological studies have questioned the synonymy of the species with D. novemcinctus. In this contribution we reviewed the identity of the type material by sequencing a DNA fragment of 212 bp, product of the 16S ribosomal unit of Dasypodidae. Both samples of the holotype (bone and muscle) and of a specimen from the north of Santa Fe province have a 100% similarity with the D. yepesi / D. sabanicola sequences available in the GenBank. These results indicate that the type specimen of ...
conditions, taking into account the many secondary effects elicited by these climatic factors. References made below to fat levels for specific populations and seasons apply to data given in Figures 8 and 9; corresponding weather data are given in the section on weather and in appendix A. The effects of the north-south temperature gradient prevalent in the winter months is demonstrated by differences in body fat levels for the three populations during that season. In addition, the effects of the harsher conditions experienced during season 5 are shown by the significantly lower fat levels for the Georgia and south Florida populations relative to those for season 1. The effects of drought are seen in the responses of the south Florida populations during the spring of 1976 (season 2) and of all three populations during the spring and summer of 1977 (seasons 6 and 7). The extremely severe conditions imposed on the south Florida population by the flood that occurred in the summer of 1976 are ...
Doing Data Science is collaboration between course instructor Rachel Schutt, Senior VP of Data Science at News Corp, and data science consultant Cathy ONeil, a senior data scientist at Johnson Research Labs, who attended and blogged about the course.. Review: Dasypus novemcinctus Whats the animal featured on the cover? The animal on the cover of Doing Data Science is a nine-banded armadillo (Dasypus novemcinctus), a mammal widespread throughout North, Central, and South America. From Latin, novemcinctus literally translates to nine-banded (after the telescoping rings of armor around the midsection), though the animal can actually have between 7 to 11 bands. The three-banded armadillo native to South America is the only armadillo that can roll into a ball for protection; other species have too many plates. The armadillos skin is perhaps its most notable feature. Brownish-gray and leathery, it is composed of scaly plates called scutes that cover everything but its underside.. The ...
Leprosy (also known as Hansens disease) is an infectious peripheral neurological disorder caused by Mycobacterium leprae that even today leaves millions of individuals worldwide with life-long disabilities. The specific mechanisms by which this bacterium induces nerve injury remain largely unknown, mainly owing to ethical and practical limitations in obtaining affected human nerve samples. In addition to humans, nine-banded armadillos (Dasypus novemcinctus) are the only other natural host of M. leprae, and they develop a systemically disseminated disease with extensive neurological involvement. M. leprae is an obligate intracellular parasite that cannot be cultivated in vitro. Because of the heavy burdens of bacilli they harbor, nine-banded armadillos have become the organism of choice for propagating large quantities of M. leprae, and they are now advancing as models of leprosy pathogenesis and nerve damage. Although armadillos are exotic laboratory animals, the recently completed whole genome ...
The nine-banded armadillo is a cat-sized mammal that is covered with a scaled shell, or carapace, that protects it from predators. It ranges in color from brownish-black to grey, with yellowish white hair on its underside. The carapace is constructed of tough, leathery skin and dermal plates on its back, head, tail, and sides. The nine-banded armadillo has nine jointed bands across its midsection which allow for flexibility in movement. This armadillo ranges in size from 15-17 inches in length, with a ringed tail that measures between 14-16 inches long. The nine-banded armadillo has four toes on each of its front feet and five toes on each of its hind feet. It also has strong claws for digging and burrowing. The armadillo has a small head with long ears and a pointed snout that it uses to forage for food ...
The authors studied 66 wild nine-banded armadillos from Brazil. the ear samples were collected and Ziehl-Neelsen or Fite-Faraco stains were performed, as well as immunostaining using polyclonal BCG antibody, to avaluate the presence of the Mycobacterium leprae. the AFB were not detected by the Ziehl-Neelsen or Fite-Faraco staining, neither immunoexpression of the BCG marker. However, many normal structures from the ears of the nine-banded armadillos, such as condrocytes, condroblasts, fibroblasts and endothelial cells, and Gram positive bacteria cocci, showed false positive reaction by the BCG marker. the authors discuss the use of the immunohistochemical studies with the polyclonal BCG antibody to identify M. leprae antigens in wild armadillos ...
There are no nightclubs to try their luck at or apps with algorithms designed to help them make a connection. Sloths come in two and three toed varieties and are related to anteaters, who have similarly formed long arching toenails. The two-toed sloths are slightly bigger than the three-toed sloths, though they share many of the same features.Thousands of years ago, sloths were much larger, according to the San Diego Z… We love sloths! Baby sloth-bears live up to their name by making their poor mother give them a lift Tired cubs spotted clambering over their mother after a long day in Sandur mountains, India Seven. Sloth fur has two layers: an inner layer closest to the sloths skin that is short, fine, and provides warmth, and a coarse outer layer that has cracks, allowing for the growth of algae and fungi, which is fantastic news for the sloth. Sloth babies can be compared to kangaroos to some extent. So how does sloth dating work? It has also been suggested that perhaps the mother sees a ...
Jerusalem Weekly Updates. Dear Parents,. We have enjoyed another jam-packed week here at Aardvark Jerusalem:. On Sunday, the Madrichim sat with the students to do an activity as part of the program My Israeli Journey, a special program that we run on Aardvark. The goal is for the students to learn how to process their experience from Israel in a fun, interactive and educational way. This time the students were given a task to arrange puzzle pieces according to what they see, starting from a small blur to a big clear picture. Then we talked about how to look at their experience from the inside as a participant and from the outside as a process and why it is important to process the experiences we undergo during the year.. On Monday, after our regular routine of internship and academics, we visited the amazing Tower of David Light Show and saw the history of Jerusalem played out in front of our eyes on the walls of the Old City. It was an exciting and new way to see the history we had learned ...
3.) Some features that the sloth has, including turned-in back feet and long arms, are similar to that of the giant ground sloth that once walked the earth. This giant sloth was said to be about 2.5 tonnes, and was about the size of an elephant. Sloths evolved from those creatures into the tree-living, slow-moving animals that exist today. Many people believe that the first variety of sloths were those called Megatherium, which means great beast in Greek. Megatherium are also known as giant ground sloths, which were the size of modern day elephants. These mammals lived in Central and South America from the Pliocene Era (5.4 million years ago) to the Pleistocene Era (1.8 million years ago). But; the truth is the first variety of sloths branched off with many other placental mammals about 100 million years ago in Central and South America, during the Cretaceous Era. The closest relatives to the sloth are the armadillo and the anteater. All three of these animals are members of the Xenarthra, ...
As always, if you have stories, facts, pics, videos or anything else related to baby sloths (or any other sloth subject) we would be happy if you shared it with us! Daily Dodo. While this isnâ t always how things work out, generally each human is looking for another human they can spend their entire life with. But we did find this one nice, innocent love story of two sloths finding each other: So, when are we getting to the baby sloths? During the rainy season, sloths will sometimes drop from a tree into the water and then swim to another tree. Sloths can reduce their already slow metabolism even further and slow their heart rate to less than a third of normal, allowing them to hold their breath underwater for up to 40 minutes. However, the incredibly slow metabolism of the sloth may have made it less risky to have a variable number of vertebrae. Baby sloths stay with the mom for roughly six months. Sloths come in two and three toed varieties and are related to anteaters, who have similarly ...
With some genetic sleuthing, scientists have fingered a likely culprit in the spread of leprosy in the southern United States: the nine-banded armadillo.
been obtained in Southern Mexico. Southwards it. passes throughout South America as far as Paraguay, where Rengger assures us it is common, and widely distributed. The little Two-toed Ant-eater (Cyclothurus didactylus), a purely arboreal form, is also found in Guatemala, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica, but does not range so far south as the two former species, though it extends throughout the great Amazonian valley into Peru.. The Dasypodidæ, or Armadilloes, which contain the third family of American Edentates, are more numerous and more diversified in their characters than the two preceding families. The eighteen or twenty species generally recognized by naturalists may be divided into four subfamilies and seven genera.. The general area of their distribution is rather larger than that of the Sloths and Ant-eaters. One Armadillo, as has been already mentioned, goes as far north as Texas, and Armadilloes are found all over the Argentine Republic down to Patagonia.. The most remarkable of the ...

Analysis - New research confirms that extreme droughts amid the deepening climate crisis are forcing nocturnal aardvarks in the Kalahari to feed and forage when the suns up -- but even so, their ant and termite food sources are dying out as the vegetation they survive on is affected by the droughts.
An order of New World mammals characterized by the absence of incisors and canines from among their teeth, and comprising the ARMADILLOS, the SLOTHS, and the anteaters. The order is distinguished from all others by what are known as xenarthrous vertebrae (xenos, strange; arthron, joint): there are secondary, and sometimes even more, articulations between the vertebrae of the lumbar series. The order was formerly called Edentata. (From Random House Unabridged Dictionary, 2d ed; Walkers Mammals of the World, 5th ed, vol. I, p515 ...

From mice to giraffes, mammals are remarkable in that all but a handful of their 5000 species have exactly seven vertebrae in the neck. Among the few that deviate from this number are three-toed sloths, which may have up to ten ribless vertebrae in the neck.
Did you know that children as young as pre-k face bullying? To teach compassion and tolerance, Karina Vargas, a Pre-Kindergarten teacher in a Spanish Immersion class in Sacramento, engaged her class in an anti-bullying curriculum based around the endangered three-toed sloth. The 19 children learned about the struggles

Like everybody else, I have a soft spot for things that are fuzzy and look at me with expressive, big eyes. I know somewhat how he felt. I live in a culture that has given up sane standards of behavior, and has jettisoned consistency. I come from a time when there was the Correct, and there was the Aberrant. The Aberrant was viewed as alien, mistrusted, and often ridiculed. What a difference a couple of generations (and PR.) makes. What was once villified as the Sin Not to be Named has become a Civic Virtue, and Normal. A decades-long public relations campaign has paid off. For as long as, the homosexual, the mincing, lisping fageler, has been a mainstay of funmaking. Practically every country ridicules homosexual activity and lifestyle. Anime series often have a homosexual character displaying unrequited feelings for the main character for comic relief. We know what aint quite right, and humor reveals it. As to cultural inconsistency, our alleged science-mad society completely ignores the Darwinist and Gouldian evolutionary dogmas to accept homosexuality as anything other than what those very ...
About 20 minutes late, the assistants finally brought me in to prep me. Quickly they attached three heart monitors to my chest and clamped an O2 sensor on my finger. I felt like I was in an episode of ER with all the monitors and the beeping and stuff. That is not reassuring. Then they placed the nitrous oxide mask over my nose, which they had to swap because of my apparently gigantic proboscis. Ego bruising aside, they told me to breathe deeply and that I should feel tingling in my lower extremities and feel lightheaded. I felt not one damn thing, so they jacked up the gas. Then I could really feel it. While conversing with them and trying to keep my demeanor light and stress-free, I realized that I was starting to giggle at my own jokes. I never do that (the gas is good stuff). I told them if they wanted me to stay serious, they needed to turn down the gas a bit. She finished by sticking an IV in my hand. She wasnt good at it ...
