This study characterizes 28 Vibrio alginolyticus strains isolated from seawater from the Seacoast of Monastir (Khenis; Tunisia). V. alginolyticus were isolated using the TCBS modified agar plates and the biochemical activities were tested using RapID NF plus Strips. Proteases activities, hemolysis, antibiotics susceptibility, and adhesion to fish mucus and epithelial cell lines (Hep-2 and Caco-2) were also investigated. Eight Vibrio cholerae virulence genes (toxR, toxS, toxRS, toxT, ctxA, vpi, ace, zot) were investigated by PCR in genomes of V. alginolyticus strains. Most of the studied strains were β-haemolytic and produce many proteolytic enzymes. All isolates described here were resistant to several antibiotics tested. In this study, the synthesis of TTX by three species of TTX-producing bacteria (Vibrio alginolyticus, Microbacterium arabinogalactanolyticum and Serratia marcescens) was conducted in a 10-L fermentor under the same controlled fermentation conditions for each of a period of 60 hours. The bacterial growth curves were monitored and the TTX synthesized in the culture medium was determined by HPLC. The TTX biosynthesis was found limited at the microgram level per L of culture medium with toxicities 14.7 MU (mouse unit) and 13.0 MU per mL in the partially purified culture medium of V. alginolyticus and M. arabinogalactanolyticum respectively by mouse bioassay. It consists of the K+-translocating channel subunit KtrB, which forms a dimer in the membrane, and the soluble regulatory subunit KtrA, which attaches to the cytoplasmic side of the dimer as an octameric ring conferring Na+ and ATP dependency to the system. Horizontal transfer (HT) of genetic materials is increasingly being found in both animals and plants and mainly concerns transposable elements (TEs). Many crustaceans have big genome sizes and are thus likely to harbor high TE contents. Their habitat might offer them ample opportunities to exchange genetic materials with organisms that are ecologically close but taxonomically distant to them. In this study, we analyzed the transcriptome of Pacific white shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei), an important economic crustacean, to explore traces of HT events. From a collection of newly assembled transcripts, we identified 395 high reliable TE transcripts, most of which were retrotransposon transcripts. One hundred fifty-seven of those transcripts showed highest similarity to sequences from non-arthropod organisms, including ray-finned fishes, mollusks and putative parasites. Antifriction bearings include circumferential as well as axial flux paths that the flux of four identical-polarity magnetic poles follows about an annular stator having annular end-pieces that enables a square law reduction in rotor eddy current effects over the heretofore known magnetic bearings. In one embodiment, control coils alone provide magnetic suspension along orthogonal X, Y axes, and in another embodiment, combination control and bias coils cooperate to provide magnetic suspension along the orthogonal X, Y axes. The stator and rotor are preferably constituted, in part, of a lamination of high magnetic permeability material.
