I wrote my own practice tools for letters and numbers games in preparation for the show. The idea was to mimic the experience of playing in the studio as closely as possible, so the letters tool generates a random letters selection, reads the letters out while I write them down on paper, plays the music and then shows solutions at the end of 30 seconds. One effect this has had is that I am now very dependent on writing letters in a 3 x 3 grid, which I find particularly helpful for quickly identifying remaining letters when mechanically working through standard prefixes and suffixes. When I play on apterous, I either have to write the letters down in a grid, giving myself a handicap of 10 seconds or so, or just work with the letters in a line. The result is that I dont do as well on the letters on apterous as Im capable of, which is discouraging. I guess I should just learn to deal with the letters in a line but Im not sure Im ever going to be as good that way ...
