The shift to the concepts Industry 4.0 and IIoT helps collect a vast amount of objective data about processes that take place in a production system, and thus, it creates background for taking advantage of theoretical results in practice; it is a trend towards synchronizing production system processes and external (market) processes in practice. In order for the target to be achieved, we use the methods that formalize management tasks in the form of predictive models, consider the cases with the computational solution of management models and decision making in production system tasks which are set based on time factor and are solved by approximate methods. We also take a look at the problems of probabilistic nature of gained decisions and address the cases, when by computational solution of tasks we need to take into account restrictions and select time step in order to obtain the decision in a table form of the function of time. The problems that we investigate help obtain and solve management tasks

The optimal timing of coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) in patients with ST elevated acute myocardial infarction (STEMI) is unclear. The purpose of the study is to evaluate and compare the outcomes in STEMI patients who underwent CABG within the various time intervals within the first 7 days of either emergent or urgent hospital admission. Patients aged 30 years old and older diagnosed with STEMI who underwent CABG within first 7 days after non-elective hospital admission were selected from the National Inpatient Sample 2010-2014 using the appropriate ICD-9-CM diagnosis and procedure codes. These patients were divided into 3 cohorts based on timing of surgery: within 24 h (group A), 2nd-3rd day (group B), and 4th-7th day (group C). The rates of postoperative complications, mortality, and postoperative hospital length of stay (LOS) were compared using the Chi-square test, multivariable logistic regression analysis, and Wilcoxon rank sum test. A total of 5963 patients were identified: group A = 28.5%

You can understand that someone did make money - whoever it was who was just carrying stocks at that time. The only personal Page 30 disadvantage was that you did not happen to be that someone. This little matter can be readily adjusted if you should make actual commitments and become the owner of stocks. The third rule was: The seller can make it believable. The integrity of the NY Stock Exchange as an association, and that of its members, is of course a pledge that the reports, as given out, are true and the newspapers in printing these reports day after day do not make many errors. Great care is taken to note their admission to the big board. The day of the event is published and the time is ten oclock sharp. Whether they were traded at ten sharp is immaterial; they could have been traded from ten oclock on if the planetary constellations required their trading at such time. Stocks are traded fully twenty-four hours a day, This includes Sundays and holidays, even though actual transactions ...

Teens may be shying away from Twitter because they see it as designed for celebrities, and because of reluctance to put their thoughts on such a public forum when they can post them to their Facebook page instead. Blogging among adults has held steady since 2005, Pew found, but it has dropped among Internet users between the age of 18 and 29 -- while rising in those over 30. Older people are becoming more comfortable with the online environment and young people in the meantime have moved on to social networking and text messaging, Smith said ...

During an annual cycle, Daphnia spinulata collected from a plankton community of Patagonia was exposed outdoors to assess the impact of recently received solar radiation on motility (i.e. swimming speed and gravitaxis). Individual values of these parameters were obtained by video recordings and image analysis at different time intervals during the day. Initial swimming speed varied throughout the year, and changes in speed during exposure were not significantly affected by any waveband used in our experimental design (i.e. PAB, 280-700 nm; PA, 320-700 nm; and P, 400-700 nm). Overall, most of the individuals swam downwards, regardless of the radiation treatment imposed to the samples. We found that multifactor interactions (i.e. not a single parameter explained more than 40% of the observed variability) explained most of our observations on motility parameters. These factors include not only solar radiation, but other physical (underwater radiation field and wind intensity) and biological ...
Results: Postponement of measurements resulted in a significant increase in pH and a significant decrease of buffering capacity, phosphate and urea concentration. The results suggest that the time-related pH increase could primarily be attributed to loss of dissolved carbon dioxide from saliva, and confirm the importance of hydrogen carbonate in the neutralisation of hydrogen ions, but they do not support the principle of catalysed phase-buffering for the hydrogen carbonate buffer system in saliva. A decrease in phosphate and urea concentration affects salivary buffering capacity ...

This study reports differential expression of endoglucanase (EG) and beta-glucosidase (betaG) isoforms of Aspergillus terreus. Expression of multiple isoforms was observed, in presence of different carbon sources and culture conditions, by activity staining of poly acrylamide gel electrophoresis gels. Maximal expression of four EG isoforms was observed in presence of rice straw (28 U/g DW substrate) and corn cobs (1.147 U/ml) under solid substrate and shake flask culture, respectively. Furthermore, the sequential induction of EG isoforms was found to be associated with the presence of distinct metabolites (monosaccharides/oligosaccharides) i.e., xylose (X), G(1), G(3) and G(4) as well as putative positional isomers (G(1)/G(2), G(2)/G(3)) in the culture extracts sampled at different time intervals, indicating specific role of these metabolites in the sequential expression of multiple EGs. Addition of fructose and cellobiose to corn cobs containing medium during shake flask culture resulted in up
Theory of Sand Filtration. A set of nonlinear partial differential equations with dimensionless variables, for filtration of dilute unisized suspension in water through homogeneous sand beds under constant rates of vertically downward flow, is presented. The equations describe the space-time variation of suspension concentration and specific deposit in a filter medium. An expression for dimensionless filter coefficient relating all physical variables of filtration is obtained by dimensional analysis. Solutions of the equations were obtained with the aid of a digital computer using the finite difference method. The analytically determined suspension concentrations at different time intervals and depths of bed agreed adequately with the experimental values. An equation relating head loss per unit depth and specific deposit within the filter bed is derived and the validity of the proposed equation is verified with the experimental head loss data.

Abstract: From the emerging field of cellular therapy, there is an increasing demand for new media to provide optimal expansion of cells in culture. Hematopoietic stem cells have complex growth requirements and serum free media include over 50 components at concentrations from near zero to 7 g/L. Conventionally, media are developed empirically, either by depletion analysis or component addition to determine if culture productivity can be increased. This optimization process consumes valuable time and labour. We are investigating medium optimization through monitoring the gene expression profile of cells in culture based on the hypothesis that cells experiencing a particular limitation will exhibit a characteristic gene expression profile. We have analyzed gene expression of human TF-1 cells under nutritional stress and literature data on yeast under amino acid limitations. The expression levels of genes in pathways relevant to these stresses were monitored at several time points following ...

Germanys DAX was hit particularlyhard due to falls among health stocks (and a stronger euro doesnt exactly help) as bond marketjitters filter into equities. It looks like market watchers are taking this as a sign to becautious, rather than an outright bear market (maybe a mini correction?) given that the economicgrowth backdrop remains robust and should support equities. U.S. stocks are now in positive territory, so this pullback might be short-lived as theSTOXX 600 is now at its lowest since the beginning of the year. BACKGROUND:. Since the advent of thrombolytic therapy, early treatment holds particular promise for decreasing mortality from coronary heart disease. Thrombolytic therapy can reduce mortality by 25 percent for patients treated within the first few hours of AMI symptoms, with greater benefit the earlier the treatment. Not everyone who could benefit from receiving thrombolytic therapy receives such therapy. One contributing factor is that many people with symptoms do not seek emergency care in a timely manner. Studies show substantial delay times from AMI symptoms to hospital arrival, with means ranging from 4.6 to 24 hours and medians from 2 to 6.4 hours. EMS transport time is estimated to average 7 to 22 minutes, so a large portion of pre-hospital delay is attributable to patient recognition and action. Several factors have been associated with delay time. Sudden onset pain is associated with shorter delay times, and older age, female gender, African-American race, consultation with others about ...
TY - JOUR. T1 - The effects of observed decision time on expectations of extremity and cooperation.. AU - Evans, A.M.. AU - van de Calseyde, P.P.F.M.. PY - 2017/1/1. Y1 - 2017/1/1. N2 - The present research investigates how people use observed decision time to form expectations of others behavior in social dilemmas. In four studies, participants received information about others decision times (fast or slow) and were asked to estimate how much they contributed to a common pool. People believe fast decisions are more extreme than slow decisions; in other words, they assume that fast decisions are either extremely selfish or extremely cooperative. People also believe that fast deciders are less moral (Studies 1 and 2) and less conflicted (Study 2) than slow deciders. Beliefs about decision time depend on whether time can be attributed to self-paced reaction times or external time constraints. When decisions are made under external time constraints, time has inconsistent or heterogeneous effects ...
As an extension of these results, we sought to determine the temporal constraints on texture discrimination. We examined the influence of response duration on texture discrimination by changing the relevant time window in which we measure the firing rates. To assess the time scale needed for the neurons to discriminate between different textures, we calculated for each neuron the discriminability based on the response occurring on different time windows from stimulus onset. We measured the discriminability between different time scales with jumps of 50 ms. The time-scale analysis was made only on neurons we consider as possibly discriminating neurons (n = 44, ∼85% of the total population). Significance values were calculated separately for each time-window discriminability measure. We found that texture discrimination becomes significant after ∼200 ms. At this point in time, the majority of the recorded neurons becomes significant (Fig. 2E). These results suggest that this neuronal ...

Human immunodeficiency virus 1 (HIV-1) infection is associated with a vigorous cellular immune response that allows detection of cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) activity using freshly isolated peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC). Although restricting class I antigens and epitopes recognized by HIV-1-specific CTL have been defined, the effector cells mediating this vigorous response have been characterized less well. Specifically, no studies have addressed the breadth and duration of response to a defined epitope. In the present study, a longitudinal analysis of T cell receptor (TCR) gene usage by CTL clones was performed in a seropositive person using TCR gene sequences as a means of tracking responses to a well-defined epitope in the glycoprotein 41 transmembrane protein. 10 CTL clones specific for this human histocompatibility leukocyte antigen-B14-restricted epitope were isolated at multiple time points over a 31-mo period. All clones were derived from a single asymptomatic HIV-1-infected ...
The aoristic and random methods produced the distributions of testimate that were closest to being homogeneous with the distribution of tactual, and neither significantly over- or under-estimated the frequency of crime in any hour of the day. Both methods appear suitable for use in the temporal analysis of aoristic crime. All crimes, even those with a long trange should be included.. Alone among the estimation methods, the aoristic method does not assume that each crime happened at a particular time-this may explain the apparent predictive power of aoristic analysis. The random method does make this assumption, but recognises that there is no way to know which particular time is correct. The cost of this approach is that it requires a sample of sufficient size to reduce the chance of clustering in the random times chosen. The random method is therefore likely to be less useful for small samples. Furthermore, the distribution produced by the random method is likely, with increasing n, to tend ...
BACKGROUND: Biochemical measurement of fat-soluble vitamins would allow direct assessment in epidemiological studies of their association with disease. However, the perceived instability of these compounds and typically high cost of collection and analysis may make their measurement impractical, particularly in large-scale studies. Using a high performance liquid chromatography assay developed in-house, we have investigated the separate effects of temperature and light on the stability of vitamins in whole blood over several days. METHODS: Multiple blood samples from 10 volunteers were stored at 20 degrees C or 4 degrees C and in dark or light conditions. Immediately after collection and 1, 2, 3, 4, and 7 days later, samples stored under each condition were centrifuged, and the plasma was aliquoted and stored at -80 degrees C. Subsequently, all aliquots from each individual were analysed in one analytical run. RESULTS: In whole blood stored under any of the four conditions for up to 7 days,

In just a single day, Indians have planted an impressive quarter-billion tree saplings.. Whereas mass tree planting operations around the globe are receiving more and more skepticism for their actual impacts on climate stabilization, the last four major plantings in the state of Uttar Pradesh have climbed to an impressive average saplings survival rate of 80%.. As per Peter Wohlleben, the renowned German forester and author of The Secret Life of Trees, our woody neighbors need an average 50 years of growing before any carbon can actually be considered sequestered, so the fact that many of Uttar Pradeshs new trees are now four going on five means theres a much better chance for them to survive pests, drought, or other dangers to become contributing members of tree society.. Along riverbanks and highways, and on farms, schools, and in forests, Sunday saw millions of residents of the most-populous Indian state continue what is now a yearly tradition (a year ago, 20 million saplings were planted ...
Blood counts were made on six series of monkeys before and at various intervals after the injection of active poliomyelitic virus. From the data thus obtained the variations in the circulating white cells have been followed in the several stages of the disease (a) before injection, (b) during the incubation period, (c) during the acute stage, including the stage of prostration, and (d) during recovery. On account of experimental conditions not all the monkeys were observed during the four periods, so that averages of counts in several monkeys are used for comparison.. Averages of 121 counts on 40 normal monkeys are recorded.. Immediately following the injection of the virus the relative and actual numbers of lymphocytes are slightly diminished. In many cases the curve continues sharply downward. In others from the 4th to the 6th day there is an actual increase for a brief period to a point somewhat in excess of the original count. With the onset of symptoms a lymphocytic crisis takes place. The ...

Carbon dioxide barriers have the potential to create short, chronic and intermittent exposures of CO2 for surrounding freshwater biota. Although intermittent exposures to a stressor may be more ecologically relevant, the majority of laboratory tests use chronic or short-term time periods to determine how organisms will respond to an environmental stressor. BACKGROUND: Laryngoscopy and endotracheal intubation are known to cause increase in both arterial blood pressure and heart rate. Several strategies have been evolved to blunt the haemodynamic response to tracheal intubation but each method has its own advantages and disadvantages. Esmolol, a cardio selective Beta-1 blocking drug, can alleviate some of these problems. Esmolol, when administered parenterally, exhibits rapid onset and a short duration of action due to its rapid clearance by red blood cell esterases. Hence we conducted the present study to evaluate the efficacy and optimum time of single bolus esmolol administration in attenuating hypertensive- tachycardiac response to laryngoscopy and tracheal intubation.. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The randomized double blind prospective study was conducted in 60 patients, in the age group of 20-40 years, of both sexes, belonging to American Society of Anaesthesiologists (ASA) physical status class I or II and scheduled for elective surgery requiring ...

Phosphate (Pi), an essential macronutrient for growth and development of plant, is often limiting in soils. Plants have evolved an array of adaptive strategies including modulation of root system architecture (RSA) for optimal acquisition of Pi. In rice, a major staple food, RSA is complex and comprises embryonically developed primary and seminal roots and post-embryonically developed adventitious and lateral roots. Earlier studies have used variant hydroponic systems for documenting the effects of Pi deficiency largely on primary root growth. Here, we report the temporal effects of Pi deficiency in rice genotype MI48 on 15 ontogenetically distinct root traits by using easy-to-assemble and economically viable modified hydroponic system. Effects of Pi deprivation became evident after 4 d- and 7 d-treatments on 2 and 8 different root traits, respectively. The effects of Pi deprivation for 7 d were also evident on 14 different root traits of rice genotype Nagina 22 (N22). There were genotypic differences
Results: Our study, based on 996 persons with multiple sclerosis, suggests that 40% had an extended time to diagnosis, and extended time to disease-modifying treatment initiation was seen in 23%. Factors associated with extended time to diagnosis were primary progressive multiple sclerosis (odds ratio (OR) 5.09 (3.12-8.49)), diagnosis setting outside of hospital (neurologist (private practice) OR 1.54 (1.16-2.05)) and more uncommon first symptoms (per additional symptom OR 1.17 (1.06-1.30)). Older age at onset (per additional 5 years OR 0.84 (0.78-0.90)) and gait problems (OR 0.65 (0.47-0.89)) or paresthesia (OR 0.72 (0.54-0.95)) as first symptoms were associated with shorter time to diagnosis. Extended time to disease-modifying treatment initiation was associated with older age at diagnosis (per additional 5 years OR 1.18 (1.09-1.29)). In more recent years, time to diagnosis and time to disease-modifying treatment initiation tended to be shorter ...
Human Th17 lymphocytes have been suggested to play a role in the pathogenesis of Graft versus Host Disease (GvHD). However, their actual involvement has not been clarified so far. We analysed the T cell recovery in the peripheral blood of 30 paediatric patients at different time intervals after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). We investigated the Th1 (CD4+CD161-CXCR3+CCR6-), Th1/Th17 (CD4+CD161+CXCR3+CCR6+) and Th17 (CD4+CD161+CXCR3-CCR6+) cell subsets repertoire in relation with the GVHD onset, the occurrence of opportunistic infections and/or viral reactivation. In the first 90 days after HSCT, we found no significant difference between patients developing or not acute GVHD. On the other hand, patients affected by chronic GVHD display a sharp reduction of circulating CD4+ lymphocytes. In addition, they were significantly enriched in CD4+CD161+. Analysis of cytokine production revealed that chronic GVHD patients display an increased production of IFN-gamma and IL-17. ...

Oxidative stress is involved in the initiation and progression of atherosclerosis, and hyperglycemia is known to increase oxidative stress, which injures the endothelium and accelerates atherosclerosis. To clarify the relation between oxidative stress, diabetes mellitus (DM), and acute myocardial infarction (AMI), we evaluated and compared time-specific oxidative stress after AMI in patients with and without DM by simple measurement of derivatives of reactive oxygen metabolites (d-ROMs) levels as indices of reactive oxygen species production. Sixty-eight AMI patients were enrolled (34 non-DM patients and 34 DM patients). Using the FRAS4 free radical analytical system, we measured d-ROMs levels in each patient at two time points: 1 and 2 weeks after AMI onset. d-ROM levels decreased significantly between week 1 and week 2 (from 475.4 ± 119.4 U.CARR to 367.7 ± 87.9 U.CARR, p | 0.001) in the non-DM patients but did not change in the DM patients (from 463.1 ± 109.3 U.CARR to 461.7 ± 126.8 U.CARR, p = 0

By Werner Erhard, March 21, 1983. Your power is a function of velocity, that is to say, your power is a function of the rate at which you translate intention into reality. Most of us disempower ourselves by finding a way to slow, impede, or make more complex than necessary the process of translating intention into reality.. There are two factors worth examining in our impairing velocity, in our disempowering ourselves.. The first is the domain of reasonableness. When we deal with our intentions or act to realize our intentions from reasonableness, we are in the realm of slow, impede and complicate. When we are oriented around the story or the narrative, the explanations, the justifications, we are oriented around that in which there is no velocity, no power.. Results are black and white. In life, one either has results (ones intentions realized) or one has the reason, story, explanations, and justifications. The person of power does not deal in explanations. This way of being might be termed ...
Abstract: PURPOSE: 1) To identify the time taken from symptom onset to the arrival at the hospital (pre-hospital delay time) and time taken from the arrival at the hospital to the initiation of the major treatment (in-hospital delay time) 2) to examine whether rapid treatment results in lower mortality. 3) to examine whether the pre- and in-hospital delay time can independently predict in-hospital mortality. METHODS: A retrospective study with 586 consecutive AMI patients was conducted. RESULTS: Pre-hospital delay time was 5.25 (SD=10.36), and in-hospital delay time was 1.10 (SD=1.00) hours for the thrombolytic therapy and 50.24 (SD=121.18) hours for the percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty(PTCA). In-hospital mortality was the highest when the patients were treated between 4 to 48 hours after symptom onset using PTCA (rho=.02), and when treated between 30 minutes and one hour after hospital arrival using thrombolytics (rho=.01). Using a hierarchical logistic regression model, the pre- ...
Explanation of the teaching chart. (Please review all the information on the chart). The chart relates time to Bible history and doctrine. It is clearly demonstrated in the Scripture that God predetermined that certain events would take place at appointed times. The Creator has also revealed that His plan with the earth and mankind moves by progressive steps toward the fulfillment of His will. The Bible use of the terms the last days, the latter days, time of the end, indicates a prophetical period when the present political and religious systems will be terminated. The inability of mankind to govern themselves is demonstrated by history and confirmed by the continuing deterioration in world affairs. The divine remedy according to the Bible, is the return of Jesus Christ to establish the Kingdom of God upon the earth. This is the basic theme of the chart.. The chart is divided into seven sections, each section representing a one thousand year period. This division is based on the statement ...

Basement membranes in the walls of cerebral capillaries and arteries form a major lymphatic drainage pathway for fluid and solutes from the brain. Amyloid-β (Aβ) draining from the brain is deposited in such perivascular pathways as cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA) in Alzheimers disease (AD). CAA increases in severity when Aβ is removed from the brain parenchyma by immunotherapy for AD. In this study we investigated the consequences of immune complexes in artery walls upon drainage of solutes similar to soluble Aβ. We tested the hypothesis that, following active immunization with ovalbumin, immune complexes form within the walls of cerebral arteries and impair the perivascular drainage of solutes from the brain. Mice were immunized against ovalbumin and then challenged by intracerebral microinjection of ovalbumin. Perivascular drainage of solutes was quantified following intracerebral microinjection of soluble fluorescent 3kDa dextran into the brain at different time intervals after intracerebral
Inflammatory disease processes involve complex and interrelated systems of mediators. Determining the causal relationships among these mediators becomes more complicated when two, concurrent inflammatory conditions occur. In those cases, the outcome may also be dependent upon the timing, severity and compartmentalization of the insults. Unfortunately, standard methods of experimentation and analysis of data sets may investigate a single scenario without uncovering many potential associations among mediators. However, Bayesian network analysis is able to model linear, nonlinear, combinatorial, and stochastic relationships among variables to explore complex inflammatory disease systems. In these studies, we modeled the development of acute lung injury from an indirect insult (sepsis induced by cecal ligation and puncture) complicated by a direct lung insult (aspiration). To replicate multiple clinical situations, the aspiration injury was delivered at different severities and at different time intervals
Technetium-99m labeled cyclam N-2-methoxyethyl-2-(3-nitro-1-triazole) acetamide (cyclam AK 2123) has been synthesized, radiolabeled and characterized as a hypoxic tumor imaging agent. Radiochemical purity was greater than 95%. Marker biodistribution was measured in normal Wistar strain rats at different time intervals after intra venous (i.v.) administration. In vivo distribution and scintigraphic imaging studies were performed after i.v. injection into mammary tumor-bearing rats using a gamma camera and associated computer. Intratumor partial oxygen pressure (pO(2)) and oxygen saturation measurements were performed to estimate the oxygenation status of the tumors. Tumor to muscle ratio (T/M) of Tc-99m-cyclam AK 2123 was 8.5 which was compared with other tumor seeking radiopharmaceuticals, viz. Tc-99m-(V) DMSA (3.07), Tc-99m-citrate (5.29) and (201)T1C1 (3.29). T/M ratios were also evaluated in comparison with radioiodinated iodoazomycin galactopyronoside (I-125-IAZG). The ratio obtained was ...
Immunological abnormalities have been described in idiopathic Parkinson's disease and in the mouse model of this disorder induced by 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine (MPTP). This investigation was aimed to study the effect of MPTP on inflammatory response of whole blood phagocytes at different time intervals. C57BL male mice were injected intraperitoneally with either MPTP (30 mg/kg) or saline (control group) and the blood samples were collected at 4, 24 and 48 h. 50 μl of a 500-fold diluted blood sample was mixed with 150 μl of reaction mixture (0.4 mM luminol + 50 μg opsonized zymosan + 0.1% gelatin, in Hanks' balanced salt solution) and the chemiluminescence (CL) signal was measured in a luminometer at 37°C. Although the CL response of the whole blood from control and MPTP groups was similar at 4 h, a significant increase in the CL signal was observed in MPTP-treated mice at 24 h post-treatment, which got subsided at 48 h. The findings of this study suggest that in an early
ST. LOUIS (KTRS) For years, medical researchers have said aspirin helps prevent heart attacks and heart disease. Two new studies, however, cast doubt on that long-held belief.. Professor Andrew Kates with Washington Universitys School of Medicine, who is a cardiologist at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, was at the presentation of the studies in Germany. He says one study found aspirin did not help prevent first strokes or heart attacks in people at moderate risk from such threats such as smoking and high blood pressure.. Dr. Kates says a second study that examined more than 15,000 people who suffered from diabetes had a similar result. He says thats because the benefit from taking even low-dose aspirin is almost outweighed by the risk of excessive bleeding caused by the aspirin. The sponsor of this study was Bayer, a major manufacturer of aspirin.. ...
The purpose of the first part of this study was to develop computerized techniques for automation of instrument calibration, data collection and calculation of indices of pulmonary mechanical function in resting and exercising horses. The microcomputer system developed enabled a single trained technician to reliably operate the equipment in an equine pulmonary mechanics laboratory. The first experiment investigated the temporal effects of histamine and methacholine aerosols on indices of pulmonary mechanics derived from the linear equation of motion. Data calculated on a breath-by-breath basis were too variable to be reliably modeled. Following application of averaging techniques, the temporal effects of histamine and methacholine on respiratory rate were the most predictable of all the response variables studied. In experiment two, normal tidal breathing flow-volume loops (TBFVLs) of resting horses were characterized. In excess of 90% of the variance of 10 TBFVL indices were summarized by a factor
Instead, the unradiogenic 187Os/188Os ratios from 0.12 to 0.42 in seven of the Halls Cave samples indicate that some type of mantle-derived material was likely incorporated into some sediment layers at different time intervals. The elevated Os concentrations in these samples of 105 to 4478 ppt relative to continental crust with 30 ppt Os, and the radiogenic 187Os/188Os samples with 22 to 55 ppt Os, are consistent with mantle-derived Os material being added to these layers. If it is not impact ejecta from ancient SCM as discounted by Wu et al. (22), then one possibility is that exposed ancient mantle peridotite or komatiite (1000 s of ppt Os) (28, 29) with low 187Os/188Os and high Os abundance was eroded and episodically provided a supply of sediment at these time intervals where the unradiogenic 187Os/188Os ratios are found in the layers. However, there are no known exposures of peridotite or komatiite within 100s km of Halls Cave rendering this possibility unlikely. Another possibility is ...
Abstract: To investigate the maximum accumulation of highly unsaturated fatty acids (HUFA) in Artemia franciscana nauplii through bioencapsulation process, five different concentrations (0 - 4%) of emulsified Odonus niger liver oil were prepared. The prepared emulsions were used to enrich A. franciscana at different time intervals of 6, 12, 18 and 24 h. After the enrichment period, the fatty acid composition of the nauplii were analysed and estimated individually along with freshly hatched A. franciscana and O. niger liver oil. The HUFA content such as linoleic (18: 2n-6), linolenic (18: 3n-3), arachidonic (20: 4n-3 + n-6), eicosapentaenoic (20: 5-n3) and docosahexaenoic (22: 6n-3) acids were 12.87, 0.21, 2.66, 2.86 and 2.30% dry weight (DW), respectively, in O. niger liver oil, and 8.60, 17.20, 1.80, 2.40 and 0.1% DW, respectively, in freshly hatched A. franciscana. During 6 - 24 h of enrichment period, all the above HUFA increased considerably from 8.76 to 10.84, 17.24 to 23.84, 1.16 to 3.98, ...

As with any ANOVA, repeated measures ANOVA is used for comparing three or more means .However, repeated measures ANOVA is used when all subjects are measured under a number of different conditions. As the subject is exposed to each condition in turn , the measurement of the dependent variable is repeated .Using a standard ANOVA in this case result in inappropriate even incorrect conclusion ,because it fails to model the correlation between the repeated measures: the data violate the ANOVA assumption of independence. If any repeated factor is present, then repeated measures ANOVA should be used. In addition to determining that differences exist among the means, the repeated measurements ANOVA procedure provides multiple means comparisons that identify which particular means are different. Repeated measure ANOVA tools in Origin consider three possible designs: ...
OBJECTIVES: Compare gender disparities in ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) regarding first medical contact (FMC) and prehospital delay times and explore factors associated with prehospital delay in men and women separately.. DESIGN: Cross-sectional study based on medical records and a validated questionnaire. Eligible patients were enrolled within 24 hours after admittance to hospital.. SETTING: Patients were included from November 2012 to January 2014 from five Swedish hospitals with catheterisation facilities 24/7.. PARTICIPANTS: 340 men and 109 women aged between 31 and 95 years completed the survey.. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: FMC were divided into five possible contacts: primary healthcare centre by phone or directly, national advisory nurse by phone, emergency medical services (EMS) and emergency room directly. Two parts of prehospital delay times were studied: time from symptom onset to FMC and time from symptom onset to diagnostic ECG.. RESULTS: Women more often called an advisory ...
In 2005, from September to November, 527 patients were admitted to the ICU. Of them, 435 (82.5%) patients were admitted for postoperative care, and 219 (50.3%) were male. The mean age of the whole group was 62.02 ± 16 years. Nine (2.06%) patients died during the postoperative period. Among the patients who died, the mean APACHE and SAPS 2 scores were 17.67 ± 9.40 and 52.4 ± 18.31, respectively. Among those who survived, the mean APACHE and SAPS 2 scores were 12.11 ± 6.35 and 24.66 ± 13.03, respectively. Plasma CRP levels during the first 3 days of the ICU stay were not statistically different between patients who survived and those who died. On the fourth day, the plasma CPR level was significantly higher in the group who died, compared with those who survived (28.133 ± 4.77 vs 13.849 ± 10.4; P = 0.037). Of interest is the fact that, on admission, the APACHE and SAPS 2 scores were higher in the group who survived. The area under the ROC curve for the analysis of plasma CRP levels on the ...
