The results of the two MANOVA tests (see Table 4) that compared the groups across the three critical thinking scores of analysis, evaluation, and inference produced no significant differences (Wilks Lambda=0.988, F=1.026, df=9,1905, p=0.41). Similarly, there were no significant differences among the groups across the deductive reasoning and inductive reasoning mean scores (Wilks Lambda =0.989, F=1.428, df=6,1568, p=0.20) in the second MANOVA. Based on these findings, all three null hypotheses formulated for this investigation were retained.. Discussion. This study sought to fill a void in the current critical thinking research base by investigating college students enrolled in a large, private, Christian university and how their critical thinking skills varied based on prior high school educational setting. Our twofold goal in this study was to determine (a) the extent of critical thinking skills among post-secondary students educated in different educational settings and (b) if there were ...

Studies on mind-wandering frequently use reading as an experimental task. In these studies, reading is conceived as a cognitive process that potentially offers a contrast to mind-wandering, because it seems to be task-related, goal-directed and stimulus-dependent. More recent work attempts to avoid the dichotomy of successful cognitive processes and processes of mind-wandering found in earlier studies. We approach the issue from the perspective that texts provoke modes of cognitive involvement different from the information processing and recall account that underlies many early mind-wandering studies. After all, reading itself is an umbrella term for activities that are characterized by a variety of phenomenological and functional signatures. We conceptualize reading and mind-wandering in relation to each other through the framework of enculturated predictive processing, which is informed by research in literary studies. Earlier accounts think of reading predominantly in terms of the construction of

Emotional reasoning refers to the use of subjective emotions, rather than objective evidence, to form conclusions about oneself and the world. Emotional reasoning appears to characterise anxiety disorders. We aimed to determine whether elevated levels of emotional reasoning also characterise dysphoria. In Study 1, low dysphoric (BDI-II≤4; n = 28) and high dysphoric (BDI-II ≥14; n = 42) university students were administered an emotional reasoning task relevant for dysphoria. In Study 2, a larger university sample were administered the same task, with additional self-referent ratings, and were followed up 8 weeks later. In Study 1, both the low and high dysphoric participants demonstrated emotional reasoning and there were no significant differences in scores on the emotional reasoning task between the low and high dysphoric groups. In Study 2, self-referent emotional reasoning interpretations showed small-sized positive correlations with depression symptoms. Emotional reasoning tendencies ...

Mind wandering is a pervasive threat to transportation safety, potentially accounting for a substantial number of crashes and fatalities. In the current study, mind wandering was induced through completion of the same task for 5 days, consisting of a 20-minute monotonous freeway-driving scenario, a cognitive depletion task, and a repetition of the 20-minute driving scenario driven in the reverse direction. Participants were periodically probed with auditory tones to self-report whether they were mind wandering or focused on the driving task. Self-reported mind wandering frequency was high, and did not statistically change over days of participation. For measures of driving performance, participant labeled periods of mind wandering were associated with reduced speed and reduced lane variability, in comparison to periods of on task performance. For measures of electrophysiology, periods of mind wandering were associated with increased power in the alpha band of the electroencephalogram (EEG), as well as a
Objective. We sought to gain a better understanding of whether glaucoma patients negative thoughts during Humphrey visual field (HVF) testing were related to HVF variability. Background. HVF tests are often unreliable in glaucoma patients, but continue to play a vital role in glaucoma clinical trials and clinical decision-making. Methods. We adapted the Pain Catastrophizing Scale to assess negative thoughts (e.g., cant stand it; feel its awful; fear of failing or doing poorly; something serious may happen; anxiously want it to end) related to vision loss and HVF test performance. We administered this catastrophizing questionnaire to 52 glaucoma patients within 20 minutes of HVF test completion during a routine clinic visit. HVF variability of the mean deviation score [coefficient of variation (CoV)] was based on the last 3-4 tests obtained in the past 4 years. Results. A quarter of patients (13/52) demonstrated catastrophizing during HVF testing (i.e., their responses mapped well to the questionnaire

Stress is a common feeder of depression and most people find their thinking becomes more negative when they feel under stress. Negative thinking taps into negative memories and feeds negative thoughts about yourself and your future. Negative thinking alone can be debilitating and because of this, it is worth considering strategies to prevent negative thoughts from taking control.

a) What am I beoing asked to believe or accept? The very first step in critical thinking is the decision not to just accept statements or evidence at face value. By making an assertion, someone is asking you to accept as true, a specific proposition. People make truth claims every day. It falls to the critical thinker to determine whether or not such claims meet the necessary criteria to qualify as true. Unfortunately, for many in our culture, they do accept truth claims at face value without any attempt to exercise any critical thinking skills. In fact, years of political correct conditioning have left a tremendous vacuum in its wake. An intellectual deficit has been created that cannot easily be reversed. Within evangelical churches the prevailing mentality is that people who dare to question anything have a negative, critical spirit. 1 John 4:1 issues a command that we are to test the spirits to see whether they are from God. The Greek word test is DOKIMADZETE and its basic meaning is, "to ...

One of the most important skills for survival that must be mastered, or at least practiced at a journeyman level, by the prepared individual, family, and tribe, is critical thinking. Of all the practical, tactical training and preparedness you can can do, the single most important, most often overlooked, is basic critical thinking skills. As I write, travel and teach, and interact with contemporary people, I regularly witness the lack of this in the broad majority of people. Ive even been known to suffer from it myself.. People, even in the "firearms," "tactical training," "preparedness," and "militia" communities, suffer from a pronounced lack of critical thinking skills, all too often.. An example of this can be seen in the recent frenzy within the preparedness and liberty-minded communities, over the Jade Helm 2015 UW exercise. For months prior to the beginning of the exercise, we saw unfounded, unsourced reports by sensationalist outlets in the preparedness and militia communities repeated ...

People with low scores on a test of thinking skills required to reason, solve problems and plan may be at higher risk of heart attacks or strokes, new research has found. "These results show that heart and brain function are more closely related than appearances would suggest," said study author Behnam Sabayan from Leiden University Medical Center in Leiden, the Netherlands. "While these results might not have immediate clinical translation, they emphasize that assessment of cognitive function should be part of the evaluation of future cardiovascular risk," Sabayan noted. The study involved 3,926 people with an average age of 75 and without a history of heart attacks or strokes. The people were also free of dementia. Four tests were used to evaluate the participants high-level thinking skills at the beginning of the study. The participants were then placed in groups of "low," "medium" and "high" based on the results.. ...
Most of my research focuses on the way in which memory and imagination interact. So far, I have explored ways in which episodic memory both guides and constrains episodic counterfactual thinking (i.e., thoughts about alternative ways in which past personal events could have occurred), and how this interaction affects the perceived plausibility of imagined counterfactual events. I also explore the differential contribution of episodic and semantic memory in the generation of different kinds of counterfactual simulations, as well as the effect of counterfactual thinking on the memories they derive from. In addition, my research attempts to understand how prior experience helps to constrain the way in which we reconstruct episodic memories. Finally, I am also interested in the role of internal attention during conscious recollection. To address these issues I use behavioral and functional magnetic resonance imaging techniques, as well as the conceptual rigor of philosophical analysis ...

When the negative thought presents itself - turn it out! Turn away from the newspaper; turn out the thought of the unkind letter, or jealous remark. When the negative thought floats into your mind, immediately turn it out and think of something else. Best of all, think of God, or Nature, or whatever encourages you to smile, relax, and become centered. A perfect analogy is furnished by the case of a man who is sitting by an open fire when a red hot cinder flies out and falls on his sleeve. If he knocks that cinder off at once, without a moments delay to think about it, no harm is done. But if he allows it to rest on him for a single moment, under any pretense, the mischief is done, and it will be a troublesome task to repair that sleeve. So it is with a negative thought ...
Problem: Marines in the field rely heavily on their ability to survey the human landscape for potential insurgents and other individuals of interest. To support this activity, the Marines Combat Hunter program trains "profiling", a set of skills used by military and civilian experts to read people and their interactions in complex environments. However, the Combat Hunter program has several critical limitations; it lacks throughput capacity, performance measures, and scientific grounding. Solution: Aptima has developed a prototype capability to address these limitations. IMPACTS is a multi-media software system that provides Marines with profiling education, and exercises identifying cues in still imagery. Enhancements to IMPACTS will enable the collection of trainee performance data to diagnose skill deficiencies, provide diagnostic feedback for improving performance, and select subsequent IMPACTS training activities. These capabilities will support pre-training preparation (before live ...
The study, funded by the Wellcome Trust, may explain why parents often say that their child can maintain concentration when they are doing something that interests them, but struggles with boring tasks.. Using a Whac-a-Mole style game, researchers from the Motivation, Inhibition and Development in ADHD Study (MIDAS) group at the University of Nottingham found evidence that children with ADHD require either much greater incentives - or their usual stimulant medication - to focus on a task. When the incentive was low, the children with ADHD failed to "switch off" brain regions involved in mind-wandering. When the incentive was high, however, or they were taking their medication, their brain activity was indistinguishable from a typically-developing non-ADHD child.. ADHD is the most common mental health disorder in childhood, affecting around one in 50 children in the UK. Children with ADHD are excessively restless, impulsive and distractible, and experience difficulties at home and in school. ...

by Srinidhi Lakhanigam, BSN, RN, CCRN, CMSRN , Dec 14, 2017 , Blog, Magazine, Minority and Community Health, Nursing Students , 0 comments. One of the most commonly heard phrases right from day one of nursing school is "critical thinking." The common consensus is that everyone has to develop sound critical thinking in order to be a safe and effective, registered nurse (RN). This necessity is magnified when it comes to critical care areas where one decision by the RN can change the patients outcome. Nursing has changed from a simple caregiving job to a complex and highly responsible profession. Hence, the role of nurses has changed from being task-oriented to a team-based, patient-centered approach with an emphasis on positive outcomes. Strong critical thinking skills will have the greatest impact on patient outcomes.. So, what is critical thinking and how do we develop this? A precise definition was proposed in a statement by Michael Scriven and Richard Paul at the Eighth Annual International ...

Together we began to work on our negative thinking, and began to get our minds and bodies ready for this great adventure! It wasnt an easy change, as change rarely ever is. However, now I know it was extremely necessary. We began to work on our diet, while putting our thoughts on a "diet" as well. Finally my husband came home from war. We began to talk about IVF and how we would pay for With a new way of thinking, and feeling confident that IVF would work for us, I began to research different IVF clinics. I came ...

Abstract: Aim: The purpose of this paper is to describe the research surrounding the theories and models the authors united to describe the essential components of clinical reasoning in nursing practice education. The research was conducted with nursing students in health care settings through the application of teaching and learning strategies with the Self-Regulated Learning Model (SRL) and the Outcome-Present-State-Test (OPT) Model of Reflective Clinical Reasoning. Standardized nursing languages provided the content and clinical vocabulary for the clinical reasoning task. Materials and Methods: This descriptive study described the application of the OPT model of clinical reasoning, use of nursing language content, and reflective journals based on the SRL model with 66 undergraduate nursing students over an 8 month period of time. The study tested the idea that self-regulation of clinical reasoning skills can be developed using self-regulation theory and the OPT model. Results: This research ...

In three independent samples of the general population, we found strong support for earlier anecdotal reports that fidgeting behaviour is linked to decreased attention and spontaneous mind wandering. In a fourth study using a young undergraduate student population, with a few relatively minor exceptions, we found a very similar though attenuated pattern of results. More specifically, in the earlier studies (Studies 1 and 3) we found a consistent pattern whereby inattention was strongly predictive of fidgeting. In the final study, this pattern remained, but the total predictive ability was reduced and inattention that leads to cognitive-behavioural errors did not provide significant prediction of fidgeting independent of general inattention. Given the large degree of shared variance between these two predictors, however, it is not surprising to find instability with regard to which of the two measures provides the majority of the variance in the regression analysis. With respect to mind wandering ...

Recently, a columnist in The Guardian newspaper expressed his disdain for public discourse on the internet. He likened posters and commentators on blogs and other places to people who wrote letters to the Editor in green ink - eccentrics and obsessives. I dont agree with him, regard this as a somewhat Luddite view, but as I have moved from link to link following this discussion on prematurity and disability I am beginning to wonder if perhaps he has a point, as I do not seem able to resist joining in. This is the first post of yours I have read and it chimes very much with one of the things that concerned me. Reading the posts and the comments on Tales from the Womb, Neonatal Doc and Unintelligent Design has been for me interesting and disturbing - disturbing in a way I have found very hard to pin down. The main thought that ran through my head was that if I had read this when my daughter was younger I would have found it very frightening and depressing. Musing on the "glass half full" analogy, ...

As a head/neck cancer AND lung cancer survivor, I am pretty sure of this when I say that endoscopies do not explore the lungs but the esophagus and the abdomen. Thus, the endoscopies were used to discover the cause of the reflux, or to determine if it WAS reflux. A bronchoscopy or a pandescopy might have caught the mass, since they also check the lobes, but these are a tad more painful than your typical endoscopy.. Second, there is hope for mom. If she is physically fit and has no breathing issue beyond the mass (no emphysema, no COPD, no pneumonia, no ashma, for example), if she can pass the breathing tests, there is a possibility they can remove a lung, in her case, since it seems to be spread across more than one lobe if I read you correctly, but not across lungs.. If it has crossed from one lung to another, the choices are much more limited at this point. With respect ...

Critical thinking begins when you question beyond what is given. You want to know more: how something happens, why it happens, and further what will happen if something changes. Critical thinking therefore requires a conscious level of processing, analysis, creation and evaluation of possible outcomes, and reflection.
You must have confidence in yourself. No one else is going to have the confidence for you. Our horses are reflections of us. They can feel every emotion in our body. You cannot have a great ride without having confidence in yourself and in your horse. I will often times be lunging my horse and there will be people watching when he throws a buck or is running wild. They ask me if I am still going to ride him even after he bucked. I smile to them as I get on and ride fearlessly. Only you can control your own actions. Your actions predict your outcome. What you do, what you say, and what you think all have an effect on your horse and your ride. Positive thoughts and positive actions will have a better outcome. Negative thoughts will produce negative outcomes. Nothing is good or bad, but thinking makes it so. You can never get upset at your horse. This is a sign of mental weakness. He is only an animal. They cannot think for themselves. We must think for them. People often say that pets look like or ...
Thoughts are things. They are energy, and energy and matter are one, as captured by Einsteins formula, E = MC2. Any thought that is fed emotional energy gets bigger and more powerful -- meaning what you focus on will grow. You nurture whatever you choose to give your attention to. As Madam Blavatsky, of the Theosophical Society, said over a century ago, every time we have a negative thought, literally there is a dark cloud that is formed over our head drawing away energy from us. Any subsequent negative thought makes this cloud bigger and stronger, sapping away all the energy from our bodies. Many intuitive people have actually seen this phenomenon happen.. One television advertisement uses this archetype. It depicts a little animal who is depressed and who has a dark cloud over it. The animal is running hard trying to escape the cloud but with no success, until it is given the advertized medication.. Similarly, when my son, Harish, was in first grade and occasionally did not want to go to ...
This good attitude seems to give us the added strength to fight off illnesses more easily.. Some people do not know it but even the slightest negative thoughts have a greater impact on you and last longer than powerful positive thoughts.. Researchers now know that the mental attitude one has plays a definite role in the bodys immune system and its ability to fight off illnesses. A positive attitude wont cure you of all illnesses and it cant take the place of your doctor, but it can help you get better.. There are times when things are lousy, no doubt about it. This happens to everybody. Be optimistic along with being positive about yourself. Dont blame yourself for things that go wrong, and dont blame others either. Check into what you can do differently and work towards improving things for yourself and others.. In everything you attempt, always be the best you can be. And remember if a job is worth doing, its worth your best effort. Put time and attention into the small jobs as well as ...

Example of negative thoughts: "I didnt get the job I just applied for, so I will never have a job again and I am useless." Our thoughts are not always tethered to events in the moment. Although mind wandering is often considered a lapse in attention, scientists at the Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences in Leipzig and the University of York in England have shown that when we engage internal thoughts in a deliberate manner, this is reflected by more effective processing in brain systems involved in cognitive control. This could explain why some people benefit from letting their thoughts run free and other do not.
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) focuses on exploring relationships among a persons thoughts, feelings and behaviors. During CBT a therapist will actively work with a person to uncover unhealthy patterns of thought and how they may be causing self-destructive behaviors and beliefs.. By addressing these patterns, the person and therapist can work together to develop constructive ways of thinking that will produce healthier behaviors and beliefs. For instance, CBT can help someone replace thoughts that lead to low self-esteem ("I cant do anything right") with positive expectations ("I can do this most of the time, based on my prior experiences").. The core principles of CBT are identifying negative or false beliefs and testing or restructuring them. Oftentimes someone being treated with CBT will have homework in between sessions where they practice replacing negative thoughts with more realistic thoughts based on prior experiences or record their negative thoughts in a journal".. According to a new study, people with poor thinking skills are likely to have an increased risk of heart attack and stroke. Annually, around 735,000 Americans experience a heart attack; close to 800,000 people in the U.S. have a stroke. Common risk factors for stroke and heart include having high cholesterol and blood pressure levels and being overweight. Led by Dr. Benham Sabayan, researchers fr
A calm mind is one of the outcomes of positive thinking. A calm mind is an imperative in trying times. It always helps an individual take more balanced view of the situation. Approaching a situation or a problem with a positive approach enables you to see the silver lining in the cloud.. Does this mean that a person with positive perspective is blissfully ignorant of all the practical challenges life has in the offering? Not at all. Then what makes a positive person. A person with a positive thought process is one who embraces the challenges, looks it in the eye, works his or her way through the situation and emerges stronger than before. Meeting the storm in the eye with a smile requires strength and resilience. Positivity breeds strength both physically and mentally.. ...

Knowledge is defined by Blooms Taxonomy as the obtaining and recall of information. As such, it is an important step in building effective thinking and problem solving skills. When students are able to absorb information or easily recall it, their ability to effectively think and reason is expanded. The 26 lessons in this unit provide plenty of practice in areas that emphasize knowledge. Grades 3-6. Critical Thinking: Knowledge (1561754072)

Critical thinking skills are based on prior knowledge and experience. In reading, these higher-level strategies help young students make reasonable guesses based on what they already know. This in turn helps to significantly increase their reading co
Several years ago, at a KY Lottery Sales Conference, we had a key note speaker who talked about the impact of positive/negative thoughts on others. As a demonstration, one sales rep was asked to leave the room for a few minutes. The speaker asked us to think negative thoughts about that sales rep. As difficult as it was to imagine this guy being anything but fun-loving and energetic, a room of maybe 75 people collectively were told to concentrate on this guys laziness (what a joke!) and how much we disliked him. A few minutes later, he was called back into the room and asked by the speaker to extend his arm and hold it out straight in front of him. She said she would try to force his arm down, but he was supposed to keep it rigid in front of him. The room chuckled as we tried to imagine this older woman forcing a thirty-something year old mans arm to his side. She actually did it with very little effort. The volunteer said, "What? Do that again!" And she did…several times. The volunteer was ...

Declarative information means basic facts. You may recall from your introductory psychology class that "declarative memory" is your ability to recall information such as your telephone number, the capitol of France, or what a projective test is. Similarly, declarative information from this course involves basic definitions, terms, and facts about various disorders, research findings, etc. Basic declarative recall or recognition questions assess whether or not you know the nuts and bolts of the stuff presented in your textbook and in lecture. Application questions ask you to take this basic information and use it or manipulate the information in new ways not presented in the book or lecture. For critical thinking questions, there is nothing to memorize. To find the answer to these questions, you have to first know the basic facts, definitions, and terms. Second, you must be able to apply this information and third, you must use critical thinking skills to integrate various answers and information ...
In the Thoughtworld of educationists there is endless prattle about "critical thinking" but this "critical thinking" is taking place in a vacuum. Educationists are notoriously hostile to knowledge. They want "critical thinking" to take place without anything to think about. These so-called higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) are the pretentious upper parts of Blooms Taxonomy with the lower parts typically cut off ...
Many thanks Martin and Bernadette!. We have been working with Jeannette Wings definition of computational thinking. Wing, J.M.(2006) Computational thinking. Communications of the ACM. 49(3): 33-35.. (https://www.cs.cmu.edu/~15110-s13/Wing06-ct.pdf). We are considering computational thinking from a very broad perspective. Students may express their computational thinking in a variety of ways: as rules, as constraints, as conditions (if-then). However, there are more aspects we are considering such as analyzing the general product/solution/game as a whole, concurrency aspects that are important in a multiplayer game, how much they can distinguish between the game itself and the devices as supports to each of the players.. However, Something very unique about this project (and not said in the video) is the way in which we ask students to specify games as FINITE STATE MACHINES. This means that we showed students how a state machine is specified, as actions and reactions, states and transitions ...

Writing for publication entails many drafts and many reviews of these drafts by friends, colleagues, copyeditors, and critics. The credibility of science depends on peer review, as explained by Frederick Grinnell in The Everyday Practice of Science and by me in Chapter 9 of Tools for Critical Thinking in Biology, where I give personal examples, historical examples, and contemporary examples that have been prominent in the news media.. Two readers of the published version of my book made several suggestions for corrections. I wish to thank them here and explain what they found in their careful reading. Dont get bogged down in the first explanation dealing with a problem that appears earliest in the book, but return to it after reading some of the later explanations that are more straightforward.. 1) In Chapter 5, I use two main examples to show how researchers use, and sometimes abuse, comparative and correlational data to answer questions about causation. For instance, people have wondered ...

I had trouble sleeping last night. Im about to start the new show season, and I started fretting about being ready. Now that Im showing at Grand Prix, Im worried that I wont be able to keep up with the up and coming younger horses. Then I realized that I had put my negative musings into a future thats not here yet. I always pride myself at being in the present, and realized I was not doing that. I was projecting negative thoughts into my own future. I had to stop!. Awareness is the first step to changing something. Once I became aware that I was projecting negative thinking, I could stop and change where I put my intention. I decided to visualize a better future. I closed my eyes, took a deep breath, and created a movie in my mind of the perfect Grand Prix test with Jane. I went through the whole thing, with perfect pirouettes and perfect one-tempis, and with a satisfying pat on the neck from Jane at the end. I saw the judge write down lots of sevens and eights, and even a few nines on the ...
I get many emails asking me what my thinking process is during a WOD. This is a very interesting question considering mental toughness training is all about how our thoughts effect our actions in our workouts and in life. To the best of my ability, I wrote down my thoughts in italics so you all can see my mental struggles and mind games that I put myself through from a typical high intensity WOD.. I did this WOD yesterday, so my thinking pattern is still fresh with me.. Let me know what you all think of this blog-experiment. If you guys get something out of it, Ill document more of my thoughts before, during and after a WOD.. Yesterdays WOD at the track:. 5 sets. 1 minute jump rope. 50-yard sprint (approximately). While driving to the track, I was contemplating which WOD I should do for the day. I usually have one main one in mind, but sometimes I have alternative ones, depending how I feel. Even though I have done this work for over ten years, my weak side always comes up and I usually try to ...
Introduction: Background and influences. If youve been reading this blog for a while, then youd have come across the name of Clay Spinuzzi. Ive been following his work for about five years now, and had the privilege of meeting him for breakfast while vacationing in Austin in the summer of 2008. Clay introduced the term "ambient signalling" into my thought process, a key ingredient in the thought process that led to this post. It made me read his work on organisational genres and on participatory design, often within the perspective of networks.. A number of other people have also influenced me considerably when it comes to this particular post, and Id like to declare my debt to them at the outset. Howard Rheingold (whom I was meant to meet earlier this week, but couldnt, as a result of my unwisely choosing to tear ankle ligaments rather than fall down) really set the scene for me over two decades ago in his Whole Earth Review and WELL writings, followed by his excellent book on The Virtual ...
What is the relationship between life and thought? Are all living organisms capable of thinking? Or is thought restricted to animals with nervous systems and brains? Or is it restricted only to human beings, or to us and a few of the other higher animals? In any case, what is the relation between thought (which takes place, we like to say, in the mind) and the actual physical processes that take place in the brains of animals and human beings when they are thinking? For that matter, what does it mean to say that thinking, like other forms of organic activity, is subject to, and determined by, physical laws? Is it meaningful to ascribe free will to human beings and other organisms? Or are thought processes strictly deterministic, so that free will is just an illusion ...
The new Jason A. Hannah Chair in the History of Medicine knows most Queens medical students arent going to memorize historical dates and events as a matter of routine, and thats perfectly okay.. Dr. Jenna Healey notes that instead focusing on dry facts - that these days can readily be looked up - one excellent use of history is "to take a step back every once in a while and to think about the bigger picture.". "Sometimes its easier to do that when youre thinking historically because you have that little bit of distance. And then you can apply those same critical thinking skills to ongoing controversial issues or new things that come up within your career.". "We might be looking at a bio-ethical case from the 1960s and, well, they were so wrong, right? Ive taught history of bioethics before, and we have to think about contemporarily, how did people understand what they were doing, what were the standards of their profession? Not necessarily to defend something that we now understand to be ...
