The purpose of this study was to explore and describe the perceptions of registered nurses with regard to facilitating the learning of student nurses during clinical placement. Focus group interviews with fifteen registered nurses were done, followed by participant observations in two clinical areas, to gain a clearer picture of obstacles, as well as the strategies employed during placement of student nurses in the clinical area. The :findings indicate that facilitation of the learning of student nurses during clinical placement is achieved by guidance, involvement, assisting and supervision of student nurses in the clinical area by nurses of all categories, and medical and paramedical personnel. Many obstacles were identified which obstruct the employment of strategies that are suitable for facilitation in the clinical area. Guidelines for the facilitation of learning of student nurses were recommended, to improve facilitation in the clinical area ...

On the left side of the bed stands a student nurse in a striped blouse with cuffs, apron, and cap. SKRIPSI A DESCRIPTIVE STUDY ON CLASSROOM INTERACTION OF ENGLISH TEACHING-LEARNING PROCESS IN THE LARGE CLASSES OF THE FIRST YEAR STUDENTS IN SMAN X
Journeys of Educational Innovation, The Teaching Renewal in Higher Education (6) are proposed as a meeting place and reflection on the change of educational paradigm. In these days, new teaching methodologies and innovative ways of dealing with classes and teaching activities are shown, with or without the help of ICT. This year the dominant idea is the transformation, which has occurred in teaching in recent decades, of a methodological nature, accompanied or not by the incorporation of ICT in teaching. Changes that have led to the transformation of the role of the teacher in the classroom, from the protagonist of the teaching-learning process to facilitator, guide or guide of learning, while the passive role of the students is evolving towards an active role, in which students are the protagonists of their learning.. In the Conference, university professors and specialists in eLearning will make us share their teaching experiences by applying new methodologies and techniques in their ...

Non-learners are externally controlled students conditioned to expect both failure and success. They are aware of their basic skill deficiencies yet know that passive behavior in high school classrooms has resulted in passing grades. Given the nature of the non-learner, developmental educators cannot achieve positive results through manipulating only external variables in the teaching-learning process (e.g., instructional styles and methods), but must consider thinking skills and motivation as well. Thinking skills include basic analytical reasoning and higher order intellectual processes, such as interpretation and application. Instructors should evaluate students thinking skills and devote class time to improving reasoning. Motivation can be divided into purpose motivation (i.e., a reason for doing something) and climate motivation (i.e., conditions under which something is done). Instructors should help students discover their interests and motives for learning and should key
Student nurses are trainees in preparation for professional nursing practice. The type of training varies. In the United States, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) are common options, as well as the shorter Licenced Practical Nurse (LPN) or Licenced Vocational Nurse (LVN) programs. In other parts of the world, a Bachelor of Nursing degree may be obtained. Enrolled Nurse (EN) training still exists in many countries. Some countries train nurses for specific areas of practice, including obstetrics, pediatrics, and mental health. Postgraduate education in nursing is becoming more common, although nurses undertaking such study are unlikely to be referred to as, student nurses.
Why dont people listen? People have little understanding of what student nurses actually undertake for their training. The NMC require a minimum of 2300 hours of clinical time - time on the wards etc for a student nurse to register. People seem to think that students will spend all their time in classrooms learning about different care models or sociological theories. The unions need to do something and educate the public as to what nurses are expected to do these days. Just being caring will not cut it. I wouldnt like to be sent to theatre to have a nurse working in the anaesthetics room who was just caring, or a scrub nurse who is holiding a retractor into a thoracotomy on me to know how to hold my hand and empathise with me. I want a nurse who has the knowledge and the critical analysis skills to know what they are doing is best informed practice and are willing to argue for me if they think another professionals treatment of me is not the best I should be getting. As I have said before, too ...

This study shows that preparedness and guidance during placement were essential to making the week in the outpatient unit meaningful. Some of the findings agree with other studies that have found that using outpatient units as clinical placements in nursing studies has several challenges [17]. However the findings also revealed opportunities for making the placement a positive experience for the students.. An interesting finding was that, although both written and oral information was given by the nurse educators, some of the students were almost unaware of being part of a project, of the concepts being used and how to use and to fill out the forms. Other students were well prepared for the new experiences, as they had read and used the forms ahead of the week in the outpatient unit in order to be alert. Taking responsibility for ones own learning is an important part of being prepared [13] and being prepared for clinical placement is an attribute that can separate the successful students from ...

As part of my job I have student nurses ( third year students) shadow me for 6 weeks at a time. My new student arrived Tuesday full of enthusiasm to met all my newborn clients and their families as she plans to finish her nursing degree and then move into midwifery. She was chatty and told me all about her life here as she had relocated to attend school nearby. She said the hardest part had been finding a doctor who understood her I pushed a bit further and found that at 21 she had psoratic arthritis, anti-phospholipid syndrome, raynauds and is currently suspecting lupus . Her mother has Sjogrens and RA. I really admired her just pushing forward with her dreams, not looking too far ahead in terms of where her illnesses might restrict her and enjoying all life had to offer ...
