Although pentachlorophenol (PCP) has been widely employed as a biocide for over 60 years, its production and use are currently severely curtailed in many countries due to its extreme toxicity. In recent years, the contamination of both soil and surface waters by PCP has become a concern. In this study the permeation characteristics of PCP penetrating silicone rubber membranes (SRM) were studied, in order to determine the feasibility of separation of PCP from water via the permeation and chemical desorption (PCD) method. It was found that efficient separation and recovery of PCP could be obtained using an acidic feed solution and an alkaline recovery solution. The permeation rate of PCP into the SRM was optimized when the feed solution was maintained at a pH of 4 or lower. The SRM thickness did not significantly affect the permeation rate, indicating that the rate determining step for the process is the initial movement of the PCP into the SRM. In this work we present a new fabrication technique to print thin dielectric elastomer actuators (DEAs), reducing the driving voltage below 300 V while keeping good actuation performance. With operation voltages in the kV-range, standard DEAs are limited in terms of potential applications. Using thinner membranes is one of the few existing methods to achieve lower operation voltages. Typical DEAs have membranes in the 20-100 um range, values below which membrane fabrication becomes challenging and the membrane quality and uniformity degrade. But it is very, very slow to dry, the cheapest is about $1.00 per tube.. There is a difference in Siliocniesed and Silicone.. Siliconised Latex caulk refers to the way it is blended or mixed. This dont contain any SILICONE and is 100% paintable when dry.. Silicone contains a portion of it base as silicone, which is a not paintable and any paint will peel from it as will the hide because of slow drying. If you used Silicone it may take 3-5 weeks for it to fully set up. AIR allows the Acetic acid ( hence the vinegar smell) in silicone to evaporate. So as you can now see it will dry to slow. This will for sure allow a hide to slip the hair, even weeks after you mounted it. I have been there and done that.
