I remember one of my first race-walkers that I treated. Maryann had right hip pain with a long left leg, excessive foot pronation, exaggerated hip motion even in normal walking, and very tight ilio-tibial bands. As I co-treated her with a physical therapist, we successfully leveled the hips, stopped the excessive pronation, and stretched out the IT Bands. Yet, her hip pain was just as bad. A low back consultation felt that her pain did not come from the back, and the physical therapist did not feel that it was referred pain from her knee. Finally, I went to the track for one of her race walking training sessions. As I watched her walk, I realized and her coach, she did not move her left shoulder (or her right shoulder for that matter). The hips should move equal and opposite to the shoulders (right hip and left shoulder) for maximal efficiency and ease of motion. I know this thread is quite old but I thought I would share my own experience.Last year I started getting pain in my right shoulder.Couldnt figure it out at all.The pain got worse until I couldnt sleep on my right side at night or even put on a jacket in the normal way.I could not hold my right arm above shoulder height.Playing guitar was severely curtailed!I was convinced my posture was wrong while playing and all sorts of things that I was doing wrong.I ended up going to a PT, who lucky for me, had experience of shoulder injury as well.Turns out the injury was down to a shoulder impingement,caused by basically an imbalance in the way the shoulder is held in place by the rotator muscles.The cure was to rebalance the muscles by exercise and some manipulation.Within a few days the pain was substantially reduced by doing a few simple exercises,and improved radically since then over a period of 3 months.On reading a bit more about this I have found out that guitarists, along with players of other ...

At the end of December I started to have really sharp pain over my left shoulder every time I took a breath. About 2 weeks latter my neck and both shoulders have tighten up to the point I cant turn my head. Since then ive tried every medication I could get my hands on to dull the pain but nothing has touched it, also ive been going thru physical therapy and now I can move my head. About a month ago ive had two faucet shots in my c5-c6. no kind of relief. My right foot and both hands go numb when ever It feels like something is pushing on my shoulder blades. Im not sure if its in my head but it feels as tho the pain is slowly spreading down my back. Worst pain comes at night same as the tension in my shoulders and neck. Im lost, The doctors seem to be lost since they sent me to pain management for more faucet shots and soon a nerve fusion.
