This work was designed to study the seed toxicity of |i|Dodonaea madagascariensis|/i| Radlk. (Sapindaceae), an endemic plant to Madagascar with multiple medicinal uses. Using different experimental models of animals, seed methanolic extract of |i|D. madagascariensis|/i| (SMED) was found to be toxic to mice (LD50 of 36.12 mg/ kg by intraperitoneal route), chicks (|i|Gallus gallus domesticus|/i|), juvenile fishes (|i|Cyprinus carpio|/i|) (LC50 of 4.33 µg/mL) and frog tadpoles (|i|Ptychadena mascareniensis|/i|) (LC50 of 5.41 µg/mL). Toxicity was ascribed to saponin group only. In mice, SMED developed different symptoms when administered by intraperitoneal, subcutaneous and oral routes. Trailing of the posterior limbs, low body posture, tremors, ataxia, abdominal breathing and at high dose, diarrhea were the most common occurring symptoms. In acute and subchronic administrations, SMED caused damages in the liver, kidneys, lungs, small and large intestines while brain, heart and stomach were not affected.

The phytochemical study of fractions resulted in the isolation of taraxerone (1), taraxerol (2), scopoletin (3), and two mixtures of steroidal compounds. Dipteronia Oliv. is an endangered genus found in China with two species, D. sinensis and D. dyeriana. Previous morphological, cytogenetic, and molecular studies have suggested that D. dyeriana is a species related to D. sinensis. However, it is unclear how the two species diverged and whether gene flow exists between these two species. Here, we performed a molecular study at the population level to characterize genetic differentiation and decipher the phylogeographic history for Dipteronia species based on newly sequenced chloroplast DNA (cpDNA) and amplified fragment length polymorphisms (AFLP) date retrieved from our previous studies. No haplotype was shared between the two species in the cpDNA network. We proposed that an observed decrease in leaf width in Dodonaea viscosa subsp. angustissima was consistent with expectations from a changing climate based on a latitudinal cline [4].. Duncan [5] proposes a different interpretation by analysing leaf width data dating from before and after the onset of a significant warming trend separately. Duncan proposes the shift occurred before this warming trend and is not linked to temperature. Although this data split could be considered arbitrary, there is merit to the approach, in that a strong warming trend began from 1950. Starting from the front, the dark prickly thing is a Soursop. Not sure what it tastes like yet, but will be trying it soon. The brown balls in the yellow mesh bag are Longans. Also called dragons eyes, Longans are a sweet, opaque, fleshy snack inside a semi-hard shell. The red guy in the middle is a Dragon Fruit, or Pitahaya. Inside is a tasty white flesh that is somewhat of a mix between a kiwi fruit and a watermelon.. The two fruit on the right are Custard Apples. The scales peel away easily when ripe and the inner flesh is similar in taste and texture to apple custard. There are numerous seeds that make eating this fruit a bit tedious.. The can on the left is full of Rambutan, which is similar to lychee fruit and longans.. The jar in the middle is pickled Vietnamese Eggplant. Journal of Nanomaterials will highlight the continued growth and new challenges in nanomaterials science, engineering, and nanotechnology, both for application development and for basic research. All papers should emphasize original results relating to experimental, theoretical, computational, and/or applications of nanomaterials ranging from hard (inorganic) materials, through soft (polymeric and biological) materials, to hybrid materials or nanocomposites.

The surface exudates of the leaves of Dodonaea angustifolia from Ngong forest population (6 km from Nairobi city center, Kenya) demonstrated antimicrobial activity against Gram-negative (Escherichia coli), Gram-positive (Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus pumilus) bacteria and the fungus Sacchromyces cerevisiae.
