Aim To investigate the fees charged by Swedish dentists for root fillings, coronal restorations and further dental interventions during a follow-up period of 5-6 years. Methodology A total of 248299 root fillings were linked with the tooth, the patient and the provider and entered into the Swedish Social Insurance Agency register in 2009. The data register also recorded the subsidy-based (scheduled) fee and the fee actually charged for the root fillings. Fees charged for direct or indirect coronal restorations and additional interventions during the follow-up period were also recorded. One-way anova and t-test were used for statistical analysis. Results The mean overall fee charged for a root filling was approximately 332 Euro and differed only marginally (13 Euro) from the scheduled fee. The total mean fee for preservation of a root filled tooth was 717 Euro, which included the root canal treatment, the coronal restoration and any additional interventions during the follow-up period. The fees ...

DEZAN, Eloi et al. Experimentally Induced Anachoresis in the Periapical Region After Root Canal Filling. Int. J. Odontostomat. [online]. 2012, vol.6, n.1, pp.5-10. ISSN 0718-381X. http://dx.doi.org/10.4067/S0718-381X2012000100001.. Anachoresis is the phenomenon through which blood-borne bacteria, dyes, pigments and other materials are attracted and fixed to circumscribed areas of inflammation. This study evaluated the occurrence of anachoresis in the periapical region of dogs submitted to root canal fillings. One hundred and four roots from four dogs were endodontically treated and root canals were filled with zinc-oxide-eugenol cement. Fifty percent were filled up to the dentinocemental junction and the others were overfilled. At 120 days after root canal treatment, experimental bacteremia was induced by intravenous inoculation of 105 CFU Streptococcus pyogenes. The dogs were sacrificed 48 hours and 30 days after the bacteremia. Culture and DNA amplification by PCR revealed the presence of the ...

What Exactly Is Single Sitting RCT?. Single sitting root canal treatment is a new advance in dentistry, which has made root canal treatment painless & less time consuming. The single visit root canals are very common with the patients and dentists these days. In many special cases, we perform the entire root canal treatment in a single sitting and that too with an antibiotic coverage for about 2-3 days depending on the type of decay and oral health of the patient.. Indications When We Suggest Single Sitting RCT. The main reason why we suggest single sitting RCT is that the patient is in much pain and the decay is moving towards the nerves of the mouth. Apart from these, some other prominent reasons include:. ...
According to popular culture, a root canal treatment is one of lifes most painful experiences. But popular culture is wrong - this common treatment doesnt cause pain, it relieves it. Knowing the facts will help alleviate any anxiety you may feel if youre scheduled to undergo the procedure.. A root canal treatment addresses a serious problem involving the pulp of a tooth that has become infected. The pulp is a system of blood vessels, nerves and connective tissues inside the tooth that helps the tooth maintain its vitality. It also contains a series of minute passageways known as root canals that interconnect with the bodys nervous system.. The pulp may become infected for a number of reasons: tooth decay, gum disease, repetitive dental procedures, or traumatic tooth damage. Once the pulp becomes irreversibly damaged it must be completely removed from the tooth and the root canals filled and sealed in order to save the tooth.. We begin the procedure by numbing the affected tooth and ...

Root canal treatment is a safe and effective way to stop many kinds of tooth pain, and to keep a tooth from being lost due to decay or injury. But if a root canal is recommended for your young child, you may wonder why: Isnt that baby tooth going to fall out in a few years anyway?. Thats true - the primary (baby) teeth typically are shed between the ages of 6 and 12 years. Yet there are some good reasons for trying to save baby teeth for as long as possible with root canal treatment, rather than simply extracting any that are damaged by trauma or infection.. For one, primary teeth have the same functions as adult teeth - and a missing tooth at any age can cause problems with speech and eating. Baby teeth also have another important role: They serve as guides for the proper placement of the permanent teeth. Without primary teeth to guide them in, permanent teeth tend to emerge in a crooked fashion, often becoming tilted or crowded because of inadequate space. This can result in bite problems ...

One of the different dental procedures, being performed in dental practices, (RCT) is medically fairly significant. Many individuals have problems with the issue of disease inside the pulp tissue that goes through the middle of the origin. It generally includes blood vessels, nerve endings apart from some tissues. The interior of the duct gets infected and needs prompt consideration. Any hint of illness in the origins caused it to be compulsory for the whole tooth to be removed. Consequently extraction of the tooth was not unusual, which very few dental practices in India practice.. Modernized equipments and techniques giving relief from difficulties in individuals,. Modern methods of root canal treatment have considerably improved due to expertise of the dentists and improvised equipments. Thus, whenever individuals are struggling with illnesses within their dental roots, they refrain from getting their tooth pulled and should head to the root canal practice for optimized services in the ...

This was the first indication that "patency filing" was being advocated over attempting to retain instruments within the "pulp canal," while other authors who recognized the possibility of packing debris and dentin mud advocated apical clearing without going beyond the confines of the pulp canal (Walton & Torabinejad 1989).. In the late 1980s, due to the plethora of advances in enlarging and shaping techniques and enhanced instruments and the focus on a more thorough cleaning of the root canal system, patency filing was advocated as a routine clinical procedure (Buchanan 1989), albeit empirical, which gained acceptance, especially in many of the dental schools in the USA (Cailleteau & Mullaney 1997). Claims were made that the removal of accumulated debris in the apical portion of the canal was essential for both cleaning the apical foramen and ensuring success through a more thorough canal obturation. Since then, while there have been numerous publications that have addressed the value of this ...
If a tooth has a dental abscess, the options are to do root canal treatment or to extract the tooth. If untreated the infection can spread to other areas of the body.. Root Canal Treatment. If a tooth has an infected pulp a new filling or crown will not treat the serious underlying problem. During root canal treatment the infected pulp is removed, the canal area is carefully cleaned and shaped, then a filling material seals the space. Afterwards a crown or other restoration is placed to protect and restore it to full function. The tooth will then continue to function like any other tooth.. Extraction. The cost of an extraction might seem attractive compared to the cost of root canal treatment. But extracting the tooth is unlikely to be the most desirable or even the cheapest choice in the long run. When a tooth is missing, the adjacent teeth can be expected to shift, sometimes significantly. Even losing a single tooth can alter ones chewing ability and effect their jaw joint. Teeth that shift ...

A root canal treatment is a highly effective way to save a deeply decayed tooth. Sometimes, though, complications make it difficult or even impossible to perform the traditional procedure. In those cases, we may need to use a different option.. Tooth decay becomes an imminent threat to a tooths survival if it works its way into the pulp, the innermost layer of a tooth. Its only a short advancement from there into the roots by way of the root canals.. In a typical root canal treatment, we access the pulp by drilling a small hole in the biting surface of a back tooth or the back side of a front tooth. We remove all the tissue within the pulp and fill it and the root canals with a special filling to prevent re-infection. After sealing the access hole, we cap the tooth with a crown to further protect it.. Although root canal treatments have a high success rate, re-infection can still occur. Often, a second root canal will save the tooth from the new infection.. In some cases, though, using the ...
A root canal treatment involves the dentist opening and removing the inner soft tissue of the tooth and then filling the root canal. The most common reason a tooth has to undergo this treatment is because the pulp has become inflamed or infected by bacteria from cavities. Root canal treatment usually requires two treatment sessions. In the first session, the tooth is thoroughly cleansed of all bacteria with special files in the root canal. When the tooth is cleansed, the space is filled with bactericidal agents. In some cases, the tooth is rooted directly in one sitting. Root canal treatment is done with a rubber-like material that is sealed inside the root canal.. Read more ↓. ...
