POP-UP" homes could be used to help attract vital workers to the North-east.. Modular housing is being considered in a bid to build homes quickly to try to encourage key staff to the region.. Modular homes, nicknamed pop-up because of the speed at which they can be built, are constructed using pre-assembled sections. They come with insulation, wiring and plumbing installed and require minimal foundations.. Its hoped such housing would encourage key workers such as nurses and carers to come to the area.. Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire councils today revealed both are investigating the feasibility of investing money into the scheme.. The councils would still have to go through the planning process for the homes but, if they are approved, they could be built quickly.. Aberdeenshire Council is initially targeting areas such as Inverurie and Stonehaven as locations for the pop-up housing, while the city is looking at land in Culter.. ...

We spoke with four people who used the service who told us that they felt involved in the planning of their care and understood the range of treatment options available to them. We saw that there was a range of information provided to people, and that people were treated in a dignified manner. One person said, I didnt know what to expect, but [key worker] has explained to me the options and I feel a lot happier and more hopeful now.. People who used the service were encouraged to develop and plan their own treatment, however this was not always recorded in sufficient detail by the staff. People we spoke with were overall positive about their experience with one person telling us, "I have just had my assessment and to be honest I am looking forward to starting, particularly the relapse prevention group." Peoples health, safety and welfare was not always protected when more than one provider was involved in their care and treatment. This was because the provider did not ...
Purpose in life is often thought of as a product of adulthood, reserved only for experienced individuals well-versed in lifes travels. Yet, consistent research shows us that the sense of purpose tends to sharply decline with increasing age. Why the decline in purpose? Researchers point to changes in social roles as the main culprit in diminished goals and aspirations.
Anne McMunn of the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health at the University College of London and her colleagues conducted their research using data on nearly 1800 women, which was collected by the Medical Research Councils National Study of Health and Development. This study included people born in Great Britain in 1946 and followed them throughout their lives.. Information on womens health status, height, weight, obesity, and mental health was collected at several intervals between ages 15-54. Data on marital status, employment status, and parental status were also collected and used to create a social role history. Researchers compared the womens health at mid-life to the number of social roles that each woman occupied.. The findings showed that the more social roles women occupied, the better their health status in mid-life. Women who were employed, married, and mothers had the best health and lowest rate of obesity. Career homemakers had the worst health and the highest rate of ...
Prior research shows that special needs educators (SNEs) have had problems defining their occupational roles and jurisdiction, particularly regarding inclusive education. There are two occupational groups of SNEs in Sweden, namely special educational needs coordinators (SENCOs) and special education teachers. In this paper, we use the collective name SNEs to refer to both groups. Here, results from a total population study of Swedish SNEs are presented (N = 3367, response rate 75%). The aim is to explore differences in SNEs interpretation of school difficulties and if these differences are influenced by SNEs employment in different parts of the school organisation. Statistical cluster-analysis was used to categorise SNEs into five distinct groups based on how they view the problems of pupils in school difficulties. Key concepts employed in the analysis are, primarily organisational vs occupational governance in relation to professional jurisdiction. Findings suggest that SNEs are less ...

Mortality statistics remain the least ambiguous measure of significant illness, certainly beyond youth and early middle age. Therefore, when testing the validity of any supposed predictor of health, its association with mortality will be an acid test and many of the recent reports on the relationship between socio-economic status and health have used mortality data [1-17]. These late 20th century studies confirm what had been detected in the 19th century [18] - that poor socio-economic circumstances are associated with reduced life span. But our understanding of the mechanisms involved remains defective, perhaps because there is no way of relating the many different, and often proxy, measures of socio-economic status: social standing lacks the definitude of death. Researchers have used occupational role [19], levels of educational attainment [12], ad hoc combinations of occupation, home and car ownership [20], refined indices such as that of Carstairs [21] or of Townsend [1], and so-called ...

Potential risks may affect several parties, including the future child. These risks can arise from intrafamilial conflict if parents feel threatened in their parental role or if they have different views from the collaborators on how the child should be informed of its genetic origins. Especially in cases of intergenerational IMAR, there are concerns that the child may be confused about his role in the family. The possible pressure on the donor or surrogate to collaborate can also lead to psychological problems. Adequate information on possible risks should be given to all parties. This includes both combined and separate counseling of recipients and collaborators to assess the voluntariness of the donation and to reduce potential conflict situations ...
In the published article, figures should be placed as close as possible to their first mention in the text. Figures should be cited in consecutive numerical order in the text, and references to figures should include their respective numbers. For example: Patient participation and progress through the study are shown in Figure 1. Figure 1 shows patient participation and progress through the study. Patient participation and progress through the study were monitored by the investigators (Figure 1). Given the potential for variability in the page layout and online publication process, the text should not refer to figures by position on
The underlying. By Elisa Adami. A slew of new words and expressions has entered our vocabulary in the past few months. Some come with clear-cut angles and marked spatial-temporal boundaries: lockdown, red-zone, quarantine, self-isolation, iso-pod. Others stretch into a hazy limbo - furlough - or combine into oxymoronic pairs - social distancing. Vital supplies nestle in unimposing acronyms like PPE, yet the words handy brevity does not make their shortages any less conspicuous. Meanwhile those who were previously deemed low-skilled are overnight upgraded to the status of key workers - but do not expect any improvement in pay or working conditions in return!. Unassuming and modest, the adjective underlying has started appearing in insistent combination with words such as health conditions or medical issues (see Merriam-Websters automatically selected sentences reflecting current usage). In its new blanket use, underlying points to medical conditions, chronic illnesses and disabilities that, in ...
