With 2 million paid song downloads through their site MuleTracks, seven critically acclaimed studio records already released, a handful of DVDs and live albums, plus an ever-expanding fanbase and sold-out coast-to-coast tours, Gov't Mule could easily rest on its laurels.. Yet when you're in one of the hardest working bands in rock history, pushing yourself to greater heights always supersedes cashing in on past successes.. For guitarist/lead vocalist Warren Haynes and his band, Gov't Mule, creating a new album is akin to walking a tightrope: Write new songs that please old fans, while hopefully garnering new ones. Develop that material in the studio rather than on the road, to prevent premature leaks via the internet. Celebrate the roots of American music, yet take sonic forays into the future. Honor the memory of the late Allen Woody, while simultaneously welcoming new bassist Jorgen Carlsson into the fold.. With By A Thread, Gov't Mule's first studio album in three years, recorded at Willie ...

The strength and rigour of ASPS' research has been registered in successive research assessment exercises. In the most recent research assessment exercise, 'REF 2014', seventy percent of ASPS' research has been graded world-leading or internationally excellent, with a 160% increase in world-leading research since the 2008 assessment exercise. ASPS ranks 12th in the UK for outstanding research impact (4*) and 20th for world-leading research (4*).. ASPS distinguishes itself through a long-standing commitment to researching and shaping governance, policy, and practice in divided societies dealing with the legacies of violence and conflict. This focus is being expanded and enriched through strategic diversification into new applied research streams that inquire into, and confront, challenges presented by racism, inequality, economic marginalisation, institutional reform and the crimes of the powerful. Furthermore, the school aims to address blind-spots and lacunas in governance, policy and service ...

For 30 years, federal agencies have made awards to small businesses for technology research and development through the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program and, more recently, through the Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) program. Over the past 6 years, agencies have obligated about $2.4 billion annually for these two programs. Federal agencies with a budget of more than $100 million for extramural research or research and development--which is conducted by nonfederal employees outside of federal facilities--must establish and operate an SBIR program. Eleven federal agencies currently participate in the SBIR program: the departments of Agriculture, Commerce, Defense (DOD), Education, Energy, Health and Human Services, Homeland Security, and Transportation; the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA); the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA); and the National Science Foundation. Federal agencies with a budget of more than $1 billion for extramural research or ...

Justice Reinvestment in Oklahoma 1 Justice Reinvestment in Oklahoma Analysis and Policy Framework Background IN JANUARY 2011, GOVERNOR MARY FALLIN, Speaker of the House Kris Steele, Senate Presi-dent Pro Tempore Brian Bingman, and Supreme Court Justice James Edmondson expressed interest in employing a justice reinvestment strategy, which is a data-driven approach to contain corrections spending and reinvest a portion of the savings generated in strat-egies that will increase public safety. These state lead-ers wrote to the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), a division of the U.S. Department of Justice, and the Pew Center on the States (Pew) seeking intensive tech-nical assistance, which was approved by BJA and Pew in May 2011. As a result, the Council of State Govern-ments Justice Center (CSG Justice Center) -the tech-nical assistance provider working in partnership with BJA and Pew -launched a comprehensive analysis of the state 's criminal justice system. Since President Obama repealed research restrictions on human embryonic stem cells (hESCs) in 2009, hESC research has expanded significantly. Before the repeal there were 20 hESC-endorsed lines available for government research funding, now there are 128.. While government funding has been more accessible, investors have still been leery of investing in stem cell companies that use hESCs. There is still a great deal of concern regarding the political environment for this kind of research and many are concerned that if President Obama does not get reelected in 2012 that government funding will again be drastically reduced and that many hESC companies will not be able to survive the cuts. Although the increase in hESC lines available for government funded research has given a boost to the industry, other non-embryonic stem cell work is still funded at a significantly higher rate. According to a recent article in Bloomberg titled "Embryonic Stem-Cell Approvals Rise," the National Institutes of ...
The management of invasive species is carried out by individuals, conservation groups, and government agencies. The Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service is responsible for ensuring that no new species with the potential to become invasive species enter Australia. To raise public awareness, Australian Quarantine has featured Australian celebrity nature lover Steve Irwin on a series of television commercials, with the message Quarantine - Don't mess with it. Several scientific bodies are involved in research for the control of invasive species. The CSIRO has released several successful biological pest control agents and developed chemical agents for pest and weed control. For example, the CSIRO released myxoma virus to control wild rabbits in Australia. Rabbit haemorrhagic disease escaped containment from an Australian Government research facility and spread across Australia. Rabbit hemorrhagic disease was subsequently legalised for the control of wild rabbits. The moth Cactoblastis ...

Fukushima Nuclear Accident Independent Investigation Commission, National Diet of Japan (emphasis added): Hydrogen explosion of Unit 3 and heat source within the spent fuel pool. The hydrogen explosion resulted in a plume of white smoke immediately after the explosion, and on the two following days. Observation of the spent fuel pool after the explosion shows the possibility of substantial damage to the fuel. But the dumping of a large amount of water after the explosion might have kept the radioactive material in the pool to be within or around the building, reducing the further spread of radioactive material. It is also possible that rainfall could have caused part of the radioactive material to fall into the ocean. […] What was the source of the massive amount of heat that caused intermittent water evaporation in the form of white smoke to come out of the pool? The white smoke was generated not only immediately after the hydrogen explosion but on both of the next two days. There was, ...

As EPI's Elise Gould pointed out back in January, a key barrier to translating overall economic growth in recent decades into rapid poverty reduction has been the rise in income inequality. Were economic growth more broadly shared, the poverty rate would be much lower. Here we make the case that this rise in inequality has large policy fingerprints all over it. Today's data on income and poverty from the Census Bureau shows how a recent policy choice-specifically cutting back on unemployment insurance (UI) in recent years-has stalled poverty reduction.. Unemployment insurance is a key plank of the American social insurance system. During the ferocious period of job loss and historically high unemployment during and immediately after the Great Recession, policymakers responded by significantly expanding the duration of benefits, and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) included boosts to the generosity of benefits as well. The result was that in 2009, UI benefits kept 3.3 million ...

Contaminants Released, Chernobyl. "A retrospective view of the Chernobyl accident of Apr 26, 1986 assesses the total radiation release at about 100 megaCuries or 4 x 1018 becquerels, including some 2.5 MCi of cesium-137. The cesium is the most serious release in terms of long term consequences. The total release was around 4% of the total accumulated activity of the core and compares to a release of 15 Ci at Three Mile Island. The release was then about 7 million times that at TMI. Anspaugh, et al. suggest that essentially all the noble gases and about half of the volatile elements (iodine-131, cesium-134 and cesium-137) were released. The cesium release from all of the atmospheric weapons tests is estimated to be about 30 MCi. The noble gas releases were estimated by Levi to be 45 MCi of xenon-133 and 5 MCi of krypton-85. About 3-5% of the core inventory of the relatively refractory elements such a strontium, plutonium, and ruthenium were released, much more than from a light water reactor ...
A word about our testimonials: At the end of 2013 a plainclothes cop showed up at our door to deliver (serve) a letter from the Idaho State Attorney, who we were advised to contact immediately. The gov't official on the phone threatened to shut us down over the casual, single mention of the word, 'cure' on our FAQ page.. I had used the word in response to a customer's question and the context was that the cure rate for a specific illness was high with zappers, based on simple observation over the years. I always stress that zappers are not cure-alls, of course. We were extorted to remove that word but, at the same time, all of the cancer cure testimonials disappeared from the Testimonials page, which we assume was the result of federal gov't hacking. That indicated to Carol and I that the agenda to destroy our business is a federal one and that the Idaho Attorney was just being a stooge for the feds. The parasitic pharmaceutical and medical cartels are directly threatened people like us and they ...

Francisco Andrade, PhD, Program Director. The progression of cardiopulmonary disease and the efficacy of therapeutic interventions are critically dependent on the response of cardiac, smooth, and skeletal muscles in the cardiovascular and pulmonary systems. All three muscle types are essential for normal cardiopulmonary function, all three play key roles in cardiovascular and pulmonary disease, and all are targets for therapeutic development. Our program targets this area of biomedicine by training predoctoral and medical students for muscle research in the context of cardiopulmonary disease. The University of Kentucky (UK) is ideally suited for the program. UK is a public research institution with 33,692 undergraduate and graduate students, 1,920 faculty members, extramural research support of $290 million in 2006, and a medical center comprising six different health-related Colleges. A recently-adopted strategic plan calls for rapid growth of UK research via added faculty, expanded graduate ...
Nursing students need substantial access to information resources that include books, journal articles, research databases and videos as well as library services such as classes, research support and interlibrary loan. Online nursing programs present unique challenges to libraries because libraries were traditionally oriented to serve on-campus students and faculty. When Duquesne introduced the first online PhD in Nursing in 1997, libraries were in the early stages of offering online access to information resources and services. Twenty years later, libraries offer similar collections and services to online and on-campus learners. Specific library services to online nursing students include:. Collections. Libraries have been rapidly adding electronic collections for the last 20 years. Online access to PubMed, CINAHL, and other research databases has been widely available since the 1990s, and subscriptions to electronic nursing and medical journals have become virtually universal. Librarians make ...
