In recent years, cognitive interventions (cognitive remediation therapies) have been implemented and their results have also been reported. Intervention studies have been conducted using a variety of methods that differ in terms of terminology, approach, and targeted cognitive domains. In this study, we examined trends in recent cognitive remediation research conducted subsequent to the meta-analyses of McGurk et al. (2007) and Wykes et al. (2011). We identified studies conducted between 2009 and 2013 to examine computer-assisted cognitive remediation and collated and analyzed the literature describing their major results and trends. Despite psychotherapeutic and drug addiction treatment, the relapse rate remains very high, partly because of their very frequent cognitive disorders. In fact, more than 75% of TUAL patients present to varying degrees neuropsychological alterations that are only rarely detected and never treated. However, these cognitive disorders limit the benefit of psychotherapeutic care, reduce compliance with pharmacological treatments and hinder the patients ability to change his behavior with respect to alcohol. The purpose of this study was to determine if there is a difference in achievement between a group of students being taught reading, mathematics, and language using Direct Instruction and those students being taught using the traditional program. The Direct Instruction Program is defined as a model program written by Siegfried Engelmann which provides a script, correction methods, and signals. The traditional program is defined as the conventional instruction methods that have been used through the years in which all levels work together, individually, or competitively toward stated goals. The subjects of this study were from two elementary schools in the same district. Test data from the Stanford Achievement Test (SAT) were compiled to compare the success of programs used. The socioeconomic status of the subjects was obtained to see if it influenced the students achievement. The students were administered the Piers-Harris Childrens Self-Concept Scale. This new study on brain balance is a pilot study, the kind of study whose results are not intended to guide clinical decisions but only to direct future research. However, the state of the literature remains unclear as to which domains of cognition should be targeted to produce the most widespread and durable benefits for individuals with schizophrenia. One suggestion is that targeting lower-level cognitive processes that are important for higher-level and more complex aspects of cognition may produce the most widespread benefits in cognition and everyday functioning. Relatively few studies have examined the effects of working memory or processing speed training in schizophrenia, as most studies examine broad-based remediation programs. INTRODUCTION: The primary objective of this study was to determine the prevalence of remediation, competency domains for remediation, the length, and success rates of remediation in emergency medicine (EM). METHODS: We developed the survey in Surveymonkey with attention to content and response process validity. EM program directors responded how many residents had been placed on remediation in the last three years. Details regarding the remediation were collected including indication, length and success. We reported descriptive data and estimated a multinomial logistic regression model. RESULTS: We obtained 126/158 responses (79.7%). Ninety percent of programs had at least one resident on remediation in the last three years. The prevalence of remediation was 4.4%. Indications for remediation ranged from difficulties with one core competency to all six competencies (mean 1.9). The most common were medical knowledge (MK) (63.1% of residents), patient care (46.6%) and professionalism (31.5%). Mean length

I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with this class because, although it does meet her behavioural needs/communication challenges, the focus is mostly life skills. Life skills are good but communication/functional academics are really our focus at this stage (her life skills are fairly decent). We home-schooled before this, with good success, using a combination of ABA strategies (not as farmwife2 paints it), natural environment teaching, art based activities(which she loves), direct instruction (for functional acedemics), visual schedules,life skills, play based learning and any thing else that grabbed her attention.
