it is close in the behavior to a wormhole in the magnetic thing though. but it is not a real wormhole. if you had a real wormhole and you passed a flux line through it and the other end was some distance away you would have separate discrete charges whether magnetic or electrical. in that way a wormhole can emulate a monopole because each end of such a wormhole would effectively be a monopole. this thing hides the flux line even though it does so with mu-metal wave guides. so it shows one behavior of a wormhole but it is not achieved by actual wormhole physics. still as the article said even this achievement has implications for sensors, and other developments ...

About the Book The book is written to promote Ayurvedic practice. It covers all the topics which are necessary from Ayurvedic practice point of view. Ayurved is Indian system of medicine and now, it is alternate system of medicine in India. This is my little attempt to make it back to main system of medicine in India. About the Author Born on 10 November, 1975 Dr. Pankaj Taneja Graduated from Gaur Brahmin Ayurvedic College, Rohtak and post graduated from department of Ayurved Samhita, Institute of Medical Sciences, B.H.U. in 2002 and now is working as Reader in department of Maulik Siddant. M.L.R. Ayurvedic College, Charbhi Oadri, Bhiwaru (HR) Preface Ayurveda is one of the most ancient systems of medicine in the world. Its origin goes back to the scared vedas which are considered the oldest scriptures on the human wisdom and civilisation. From clinical point of view, today there is not even a single book in which systematically practical ayurvedic management is mentioned. Keeping this in
If someone says Childrens Books to you, what is the first thing that comes to your mind? Picture books? Perhaps here is the better question… what author first comes to mind? I would venture to bet that at least 90% of you come up with the same name. However, did you know that the name you come up with is not his true name? (Probably most of you do, since you are members of the book world or bibliophiles and would know something like that… but humor me!) Theodor Seuss Geisel was born on March 2nd, 1904 to a German family in Springfield, Massachusetts. His father ran a family-owned brewery in Massachusetts (well, until the Prohibition did away with that). Geisel went to school in Massachusetts until he went to Dartmouth College in New Hampshire, graduating in 1925. During his time at Dartmouth, Geisel first showed skill and interest in humorous literature as rose to the role of editor-in-chief of the literary magazine the Dartmouth Jack-O-Lantern before graduating. Unfortunately, one ...
FIRST EDITION, second issue (see below) of the most important contribution to circulatory physiology after William Harveys De motu cordis, published three years before Lowers birth. Nobel Laureate André Cournand considered Lowers book to be one of the most important texts in the history of physiology because of the nature of its observations, the rigor of its experimental design and demonstrations, and its simple and convincing form of presentation… Lower entered medical practice in London in 1666 and continued experiments he had begun in Oxford on the motion and color of the blood and on transfusion. His observations on these subjects were summarized in Tractatus de corde. Lower made important observations on the structure of cardiac muscle, the quantity of blood in the vascular system, the velocity of blood flow, and the effects of aeration of blood as it passed through the lungs. He was impressed by the complex arrangement of muscular fibers in the heart and felt their unique ...

By the latter half of the 19th century, oceanography was truly international in scope. In contrast to Britainss Challenger expedition, which conducted a world-wide inventory of the seas, the Voringen expedition was a detailed study of the physical characteristics of the Norwegian Sea between Norway, Iceland, Spitsbergen, and Greenland. The leaders of the expedition, Henrik Mohn and George Sars, convinced the Norwegian government to fund the expedition because no extensive investigations of the open seas adjacent to Norway had as yet been undertaken by the government. Mohn and Sars linked the science of oceanography to the well-being of Norway as a nation when Mohn wrote that the sea is the origin and preserver of our existence as a civilized nation; and that expanse of sea being as regards its physical conditions well nigh unknown, on Norway should first devolve the labour of their solution. (b. I, Historical Account, p.6). ...
John Beaumont, a British surgeon and geologist, was a man of considerable reading, of excessive credulity, and a firm believer in supernatural agency. His principal and certainly most curious performance, An Historical, Physiological, and Theological Treatise of Spirits, Apparitions, Witchcrafts is written in an amusing, gossiping style, and abounds with grotesque tales and illustrations from little-known authors. His personal experience of spirits, good and bad, was long and varied (pages 91-4, 393-7); but he innocently contrives to lessen the effect of his narration by adding that in their frequent visitations all would disswade me from drinking too freely - Dictionary of National Bibliography. ...

Leslie, the way I see it, you were afflicted with two handicaps. Number one; as already described, you were sundered from your Pāli dictionary at a crucial time. Number two; you have only read Inscriptions of Ceylon, Vol. 1 in bits and pieces. A historian Leslie should be reading history books with the same avidity that an adolescent girl reads bodice rippers. If you had you wouldnt have missed page cvi of IC1;. But there is a term of respect applied to Buddhist monks in the North Indian Brahmi inscriptions, (Bharhut Inscriptions (CII, Vol. II, pt. II) by H. Luders, E. Waldschmidt and M.A. Mehendale, p.191 and The Monuments of Sanchi by Sir John Marshal and Alfred Foucher, Vol. I, p. 295; Inscription No.265.) that has been avoided in our documents. This is aya, equivalent to Skt. ārya and P. ayya, meaning Aryan or Noble. This term in our inscriptions, is reserved for princes.. These two handicaps Leslie led you to the erroneous conclusion that aya and ayya are isolated Sri Lankan ...
Monumental inscriptions and church monuments are memorials to persons who have died. Monumental inscriptions are engraved on stones placed at the graves of deceased persons. They are commonly found on headstones, tombstones, gravestones, or plaques, depending on the area. Inscriptions may include the deceaseds name and age, dates, and names of relatives. Church monuments are memorials to wealthy, noble, royal, or other distinguished people. They are often a brass plaque, stone statue, or effigy placed inside the church or on church grounds. Information on church monuments may include only names and dates. You can access the information on monumental inscriptions and church monuments through printed transcriptions or by visiting the church. A port is the two ends of an exotic-matter wormhole with negative mass. Each end of the wormhole is mounted in a positive-mass case, and you can (lets say) carry one end down to the moon to shorten the spacetime distance between the space station and the moon. Ports can be collapsed from either end by destabilizing the wormhole. I invented ports in 2006 for Vanilla and in that story I did a lot of work showing what you could do with them. I felt writers had generally treated wormholes as magic gateways and neglected their mayhemic possibilities. I mean, just imagine if the two ends of a wormhole could be moved independently! You could set up all sorts of wacky gravity and pressure differentials. Then in 2007 Portal came out. So, I give up. Ports in the Constellation universe work just like in Portal, with two differences. First, you cant shoot wormholes out of guns, because a) it takes an enormous amount of energy to make one, and b) a wormhole has two sides. In Portal terms, the blue ...

Our newest residents, race relations, climate change, political tensions-all are issues reflected in 2020s fiction and nonfiction.
The Life of Abraham Lincoln as President. Imagine yourself in the early 21st century, finding an unpublished book written by a friend of Abraham Lincoln. That is exactly what happened to nationally recognized author, Bob OConnor, a member of the Berkeley County Historical Society.OConnor, who lives in Charles Town, West Virginia, found this rare book in the Lamon papers at The Huntington Library in California in 2008. As editor, OConnor, transcribed the document and has added footnotes to identify the characters and define the 19th century legal terms used by Mr. Lamon, who was an attorney.. Ward Hill Lamon was born in Summit Point, VA (today WV) and grew up in Mill Creek, VA (now Bunker Hill, WV). He moved to Illinois in 1846 and became an attorney on the 8th Judicial Circuit of Illinois. No one had as much access to Abraham Lincoln during his presidency than Ward Hill Lamon. Lamon spent many a night sleeping outside the Lincoln bedroom on the floor to protect his friend from harm. But when ...

This trek is basically a PASS, in ancient times this was the nearest route to descend down to KONKAN(Kalyan port) from PLATEAU(Deccan),this pass was mainly used by traders who used to frequent this rout. Near the top one beautiful cave is situated with few water cisterns, there is also a huge pot located on top plateau just at the entrance of the way down to caves, it is said that it used to be a JAKAT NAKA( Toll), and every trader was supposed to put SWARNA MOHOR( Gold coin) in the pot to gain access to the road for descending down. The inscriptions in the caves indicate that they are the work of Satavahana rulers who came into prominence after the fall of the Mauryan empire. It is believed that a powerful woman ruler Naganika, the wife of Satakarni (180-170 BCE) of the Satavahana family commissioned the cave, the statues and the inscriptions. Inscriptions in the cave mention her and her family members. Though the statues adorning the sides of the rectangular cave are now gone, the inscriptions ...

History repeats itself. However, each generation, I would hazard to generalize, feels as if it is forging ahead into uncharted territory. If a person (a pesky historian or even a curator of rare books) were to point out a historical example which perhaps might support an argument regarding the nature of history and its cycles, others may be quick to point to all the ways in which current events differ from those contained in the historical example. The Generall Historie of the Turkes is a marvelous portal which allows us to view how many of the modern western worlds most difficult issues were being treated at the turn of the 17th century.. In 1453 Constantinople, the capital city and last hold-out of the Eastern Roman Empire, fell to the Ottoman Empire. To put it mildly, this did not please the western Europeans. To turn this into an almost unforgivably simple tale, the Westerners (predominantly Christian) traveled to the Near East (what we now often refer to as the Middle East) and began to ...

Until now, the study of American Indian literature has tended to concentrate on contemporary writing. Although the field has grown rapidly, early works-especially poetry-remain mostly unknown and inaccessible. Changing Is Not Vanishing simultaneously reinvents the early history of American Indian literature and the history of American poetry by presenting a vast but forgotten archive of American Indian poems. Through extensive archival research in small-circulation newspapers and magazines, manuscripts, pamphlets, rare books, and scrapbooks, Robert Dale Parker has uncovered the work of more than 140 early Indian poets who wrote before 1930.. Changing Is Not Vanishing includes poems by 82 writers and provides a full bibliography of all the poets Parker has identified-most of them unknown even to specialists in Indian literature. In a wide range of approaches and styles, the poems in this collection address such topics as colonialism and the federal government, land, politics, nature, love, war, ...

The English call tombstones monumental inscriptions (or M.I.s). Monumental inscriptions may provide birth, marriage, and death information. They sometimes give more information than the parish burial register or civil death certificate-information such as military service, occupation, or cause of death. Cemetery records are especially helpful for identifying ancestors not in other records. Because relatives may be buried in adjoining plots, search the entire record. Before the Burial Acts of 1852 and 1853, most people were buried in church graveyards. The Burial Acts enabled the town officials to purchase and use land as civil graveyards. Private companies also maintained cemeteries before and after this time. Civil cemetery registers are located at local archives or libraries or are held by the group controlling the cemetery. To find monumental inscriptions, you need to know where an individual was buried. The person may have been buried in a church, city, or public cemetery- usually near the ...

As She Climbed Across the Table is a 1997 science fiction novel by the American writer Jonathan Lethem. It is a satirical story set on the fictional campus of Beauchamp University in Northern California. Particle physicist Alice Coombs rooms with narrator Philip Engstrand, an anthropologist researching conflicts between and within disciplines. Their relationship drives the romantic aspect of this story. The novel deals thematically with many of the philosophical issues pertaining to modern quantum physics, as well as human interaction with artificial intelligence. Lack is an emptiness created in a particle collider. Professor Soft theorized that the experiment would replicate the big bang and opened a wormhole to a microscopic universe and that this wormhole would close shortly after it was created, leaving the new universe attached to reality. The wormhole however is not accompanied by any events to indicate it is a physical object and so it is named Lack. Lack is characterized by its ...
In the OA scenario, one reason that there may be long-distance traversable wormholes which would take you to a distant location, perhaps outside the Hubble Volume, is that there may have been a civilisation in the earliest seconds of the universe, which either found or created these wormholes, and stabilised them while they drifted apart because of expansion. These wormholes still exist and are still stable, even though the civilisation that found /created them is long gone. So it isnt impossible to find a Fargate that will take you to a very distant galaxy, but it is impossible for the events in that distant location to interact with our galaxy except through that hole ...
Typical Indus inscriptions are no more than four or five characters in length, most of which (aside from the Dholavira signboard) are tiny; the longest on a single surface, which is less than 1 inch (2.54 cm) square, is 17 signs long; the longest on any object (found on three different faces of a mass-produced object) has a length of 26 symbols.. While the Indus Valley Civilisation is generally characterised as a literate society on the evidence of these inscriptions, this description has been challenged by Farmer, Sproat, and Witzel (2004)[131] who argue that the Indus system did not encode language, but was instead similar to a variety of non-linguistic sign systems used extensively in the Near East and other societies, to symbolise families, clans, gods, and religious concepts. Others have claimed on occasion that the symbols were exclusively used for economic transactions, but this claim leaves unexplained the appearance of Indus symbols on many ritual objects, many of which were ...

Some information about the deities of the ancient Gauls (the continental Celts), who left no written literature other than inscriptions, is preserved by Greco-Roman sources under the names of Greek and Latin equivalents. A large number of Gaulish theonyms or cult titles are preserved, for instance, in association with Mars. As with some Greek and Roman divine counterparts, the perceived similarities between a Gallic and a Roman or Greek deity may reflect a common Indo-European origin.[8] Lugh was identified with Mercury, Nodens with Mars as healer and protector, Sulis with Minerva. In some cases, however, a Gallic deity is given an interpretatio romana by means of more than one god, varying among literary texts or inscriptions. Since the religions of the Greco-Roman world were not dogmatic, and polytheism lent itself to multiplicity, the concept of deity was often expansive, permitting multiple and even contradictory functions within a single divinity, and overlapping powers and functions ...

Green Island lies east of the downtown core, where the Rideau River splits into two and joins the Ottawa River at the Rideau Falls. On the north side of Sussex Drive, the land is parkland, and there are a number of monuments placed in this parkland, most of them military in nature. I came up this way on Thanksgiving in October while taking fall photos, and decided to focus on two of the monuments for Remembrance Day. The first is the National Artillery Memorial, which originally stood in Majors Hill Park but which has been here for years. A field gun stands beside the wall, which includes inscriptions in English and French- the French text of the main inscription is on a plaque over on the left side ...
Hello Marilyn I want to thank you so much for my healing session. I thought I would give you an update on how I was doing after my session and I am happy to say that I am feeling completely free of any loneliness or desire to return to the Spirit world! I dont even think about it very much anymore! Only once did I feel an aching pain but immediately felt my pink shield protecting me. I feel that there has been a definite shift within me and I feel so much lighter and stronger for it. I never thought of myself as someone who would bring forward a repeating pattern or be drawn to controlling and dominating men from a past life, but after listening to the audio several times I felt there was so much sadness and loneliness in my past lives that I seem to have carried over into this life. I feel free of that now; I feel that there has been a closure and I feel confident and I have no doubt that I will ever let it happen again!! One of the questions I had asked was whether I had ever studied ...
Humanity is under threat - from storms that seem to get ever fiercer, earthquakes that seem ever more deadly, and killer viruses that are engulfing the globe. Some scientists think its time for us to fight back. Can we - should we -hack the planet?

There are a large and growing number of Western Canadian heavy oil deposits that have been depleted using primary cold production (CHOPS) methods. At their economic limit these methods leave behind 85 % to 90 % of the OOIP while significantly altering the reservoir conditions from their initial state. The oil remaining is a significant target for a follow up process; however, presently there is no demonstrated EOR process that can economically recover additional oil from these deposits in their current condition.. The application of in situ combustion in a reservoir that has under gone CHOPS has several attractive features. The wormhole network created during primary production provides the injectivity required to initiate and sustain high temperature combustion. The interconnected wormhole channels between adjacent wells supplies a conduit for mobilized oil to flow to production well thus minimizing liquid blockage and ineffective conformance.. To assess the potential of in situ combustion as a ...

Splendid! I want to listen while driving, exercising, showering and cooking. And when I settle into my armchair or flop into the hammock by the shores of Lake Champlain I want to be able to switch seamlessly from audio to text so that I can read. And when I want to jot marginalia or forward a quotation to a friend, I want it to be equally simple in both formats. This vision of book bundling should be the bare minimum. But my prediction goes further. Print books can remain relevant if they include the digital bundle. Gift giving demands this. I want to write a personal inscription in green fountain pen ink in the front page, and I want to be able to wrap and hand the familiar bound heft of a book. Most of us still love print books. And the appetite (habit?) will die slowly. But what better incentive to buy the print version if it includes the digital bundle so that readers can also be listeners, etc. Personally I love experiencing books in multiple formats. But the bottom line is that the future ...
