The collembolan genus Pseudosinella Schäffer, 1897 is a polyphyletic taxon derived from the genus Lepidocyrtus Bourlet, 1839 from which it differs in reduced number of eyes. The oil exploration and search for new oil production fields is expanding further north and has reached the Arctic. Oil drilling activities release large amounts of produced water (PW) to the marine environment and sub-lethal effects on biota cannot be excluded. The polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) present in PW have previously been shown to exhibit negative effects on growth, development and survival of aquatic organisms. The Arctic copepod Calanus glacialis is an abundant zooplankton species and holds a key position in the energy transfer from primary production to higher trophic levels. C. glacialis accumulates large volumes of lipids during late developmental stages which makes it prone to the uptake of lipophilic oil components. Our meadow is doing very well. Harriet and I look out on to it from the greencube studio. We had lunch out there in the week and ended up doing a plant identification working out all the wild flowers and meadow grasses. We have wild carrot, corn cockle, corn marigold, ox-eye daisy, meadow buttercup, poppy, yarrow, common bent, crested dogstail, sheeps fescue, smaller cats tail, musk mallow, ladies bedstraw, common sorrel and black knapweed. Finally, I cant find the picture but we popped into Buttercup at Westfield after we watched Alice in Wonderland there and got one of the worst cupcakes of my life.
