Initially, as per the National Lung Screening Trial, eligible patients were those age 55-74, with a 30 pack year (1 pack a day for 30 years, 2 packs a day for 15 years, or some other similar combination of packs per day multiplied by years smoked) history of smoking, either current smokers or those who quit in the last 15 years.. Early this year, data from another more recent study compelled us to revise those criteria, lowering the age of eligibility from 55 to 50 and the number of pack-years smoked to 20. This was because the data demonstrated that doing so would improve the sensitivity of the study, without decreasing the specificity or accuracy. Methods: The Tomophan™ phantom incorporates four stair-stepped missing tissue gauges by the chest wall, allowing measurement of missing chest wall in two different locations along the chest wall at two different heights. Each of the four gauges has 12 steps in 0.5 mm increments rising from the chest wall. An image processing algorithm was developed by Image Owl that first finds the two slices containing the steps then finds the signal through the highest step in all four gauges. Using the signal drop at the beginning of each gauge the distance to the end of the image gives the length of the missing tissue gauge in millimeters. However, ideal observers that optimize FROC or AFROC performance metrics have not yet been formulated in the general case. Thresholding is preferably by sloping local thresholding but may also be performed by global and dual-local thresholding. Therefore, the retrieval process is mainly dependent on comparing the captured features which depict the most important characteristics of images instead of comparing the whole images. In this paper, we propose a CBIR method by extracting both color and texture feature vectors using the Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) and the Self Organizing Map (SOM) artificial neural networks. To investigate whether quantitative radiomic features extracted from digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT) are associated with Ki-67 expression of breast cancer. This is a prospective ethically approved study of 70 women diagnosed with invasive breast cancer in 2018, including 40 low Ki-67 expression (Ki-67 proliferation index |14%) cases and 30 high Ki-67 expression (Ki-67 proliferation index ≥ 14%) cases. A set of 106 quantitative radiomic features, including morphological, grey/scale statistics, and texture features, were extracted from DBT images. After applying least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) method to select the most predictive features set for the classifiers, low versus high Ki-67 expression was evaluated by the area under the curve (AUC) at receiver operating characteristic analysis. In this paper, an enhancement on the use of color and texture visual features in Content-Based Image Retrieval (CBIR) is proposed by adding a new color feature called Average Color Dominance which tries to enhance color description using the dominant colors of an image. Finding the centerline and estimating the radius of linear structures is a critical first step in many applications, ranging from road delineation in 2D aerial images to modeling blood vessels, lung bronchi, and dendritic arbors in 3D biomedical image stacks. Existing techniques rely either on filters designed to respond to ideal cylindrical structures or on classification techniques. The former tend to become unreliable when the linear structures are very irregular while the latter often has difficulties distinguishing centerline locations from neighboring ones, thus losing accuracy. We solve this problem by reformulating centerline detection in terms of a \emph{regression} problem. We first train regressors to return the distances to the closest centerline in scale-space, and we apply them to the input images or volumes. The centerlines and the corresponding scale then correspond to the regressors local maxima, which can be easily identified. We show that our method outperforms state-of-the-art
