These complex biomacromolecules are believed to be responsible for the inhibition of nerve regeneration following injury to the central nervous system. The enzymic degradation of GAG chains in damaged nervous tissue by cABC I (chondroitinase ABC I), a broad-specificity lyase that degrades GalAGs, promotes neural recovery. In the present paper, we report the subcloning of cABC I from Proteus vulgaris, and discuss a simple methodology for the recombinant expression and purification of this enzyme. Antibiotics resistance profiles of bacteria from surgical wounds were investigated in four (4) General Hospitals (Bida, Kontagora, Minna and Suleja) in Niger State. Five hundred (500) samples (i.e. Two hundred (200) samples in Minna, One hundred (100) samples each Suleja, Kontagora and Bida) of wound exudates from these general hospitals, were analysed. The results showed the presence of Klebsiella Pneumoniae, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Proteus vulgaris in the samples from the wounds. From the five hundred (500) samples collected from all locations, forty two (42) samples had Kl. pneumoniae, sixty four (64) samples had Ps. aeruginosa, fifty two (52) samples had P. vulgaris and one hundred and nine (109) samples had E. coli. A new series of B is-[thiadiazol-2-yl-tetrahydro-2H-pyrazolo[3,4-d][1,3]thiazole]methanes 7a-h has been synthesized by the reaction of arylidine derivative 6 with aryl/alkyl hydrazines. Chemical structures of all the new compounds were established by IR, 1H, 13C NMR, MS and elemental data. The compounds 7a-h were evaluated for their antibacterial activity against Gram-positive bacteria viz. Crude extracts of three actinomycetes species belonging to Saccharopolyspora (TR 046 and TR 039) and Actinosynnema (TR 024) genera were screened for antibacterial activities against a panel of several bacterial strains. Our group observed two bacteria for gram staining. First of Escherichia coli was rod shaped, pink colored. Due to pink color of it we conclude that it is Gram (-),d does not have any cell wall but have outer membrane. However, Proteus vulgaris was coccus and color after staining was purple so that we understand that it is Gram (+), it has cell wall. Expected result is also same with experimental results of our group but it is not true for B.subtilis observations. In recent studies, B. vulgaris showed antiarrhythmic, antihypertensive, anticholinergic, and cardioprotective effects. We reviewed the literature to explore the possible prophylactic and therapeutic roles of B. vulgaris in cardiovascular medicine. A computer literature search was conducted to identify all relevant studies that have investigated the role of B. vulgaris in prevention or treatment of cardiovascular diseases.We also searched the citations of the retrieved articles. Using a systematic approach, we conducted a scoping review that included a total of 37 articles. Twelve studies examined the antihypertensive effects of B. vulgaris, seven studies investigated its antiarrhythmic effects, while its inotropic and cardioprotective effects were evaluated in four and eight studies, respectively. Extended-spectrum β-lactamase (ESBL) continues to be a major problem in healthcare settings. The current study was carried out to assist the clinicians to prescribe appropriate antibiotics against gram-negative clinical isolates. Different Proteus species are commonly implicated pathogens in hospital as well as community acquired infections. A total of 172 Proteus species isolated from exudates and urine were speciated and tested for antibiogram. ESBL screening was done using 3rd generation Cephalosporins and confirmed by double disc diffusion test. Among the 172 Proteus isolates, exudates (68.02%) showed the predominant cases, with Proteus mirabilis 117(62.20%) as predominant isolated organism followed by Proteus vulgaris 56 (32.55%), Providencia stuartii 6 (3.48%) and Morganella morganii 3 (1.74%). Abstract:. Beta-lactams and fluoroquinolones antibiotics are widely used in treatment of bacterial infections including those caused by Proteus species. Wild-type strains of Proteus spp. are usually susceptible to these antibiotics. Development of resistance to such antibiotics severely limits therapeutic options and complicates the treatment process. This study aimed to investigate the prevalence of some genes that confer resistance to beta-lactams and fluoroquinolones among clinical isolates of Proteus spp. A total of 220 Proteus isolates were selected from 1547 clinical specimens collected from patients attended 4 Egyptian local hospitals during the period from October 2014 till March 2017. Fifty one of the Proteus isolates exhibited multidrug resistance (MDR). The objective of this thesis was to investigate the feasibility of counting and sizing of bacteria with the Coulter Counter and to evaluate orifices which were prepared in this laboratory.. Results and discussions: Extracts from methanol-water mixture showed some antimicrobial activity against Lactobacillus brevis (NCIMB 4617), L. plantarum (NCDO 1752) and Escherichia coli and Proteus vulgaris. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of extracts ranged between 1.57 and 12.5 mg/ml except in E. coli with value greater than 12.5.mg/ml. The phytochemical screening indicated that the extract tested positive for tannin, saponin, flavonoids and alkaloids. Results showed that F. zanthoxyloides would be valuable in the treatment of microbial diseases particularly those of the oral cavity. The considerable antibacterial activities exhibited by the extract of the plant thus justify the use as a teeth cleansing agent in the local setting.
