This paper examines the determinants of the time it takes for an index options market to be brought back to efficiency after put-call parity deviations, using intraday transactions data from the French CAC 40 index options over the August 2000 - July 2001 period. We address this issue through survival analysis which allows us to characterize how differences in market conditions influence the expected time before the market reaches the no-arbitrage relationship. We find that moneyness, maturity, trading volume as well as trade imbalances in call and put options, and volatility are important in understanding why some arbitrage opportunities disappear faster than others. A new Roentgen stereophotogrammetric analysis system, using a biplane technique, has been developed to determine the migration and rotation of total hip replacement (THR) femoral components in three dimensions. Stainless steel marker balls were injected into the femur during the operation. The patients stood within a calibration frame during the X-ray. The two exposures were taken consecutively allowing radio-opaque shutters to be moved in front of the films to prevent fogging. Studies with a model demonstrated that the system was capable of measuring the position of an implant to better than 0.11 mm (2 SD). In vivo measurements demonstrated that the migration rate of the different parts of the femoral component could be determined with an accuracy of 0.25 to 0.50 mm/year. By considering the accuracy determined in different ways, methods for improving the system have been identified. We performed a clinical and radiological study to determine the rate of failure of the Charnley Elite-Plus femoral component. Our aim was to confirm or refute the predictions of a previous roentgen stereophotogrammetric analysis study in which 20% of the Charnley Elite-Plus stems had shown rapid posterior head migration. It was predicted that this device would have a high early rate of failure.We examined 118 patients at a mean of nine years after hip replacement, including the 19 patients from the original roentgen stereophotogrammetric study. The number of revision procedures was recorded and clinical and radiological examinations were performed. The rate of survival of the femoral stems at ten years was 83% when revision alone was considered to be a failure. It decreased to 59% when a radiologically loose stem was also considered to be a failure. Metallosis has been hypothesized to occur when metallic components in medical implants, specifically joint replacements, abrade against one another. Metallosis has also been observed in some patients either sensitive to the implant or for unknown reasons even in the absence of malpositioned prosthesis. Though rare, metallosis has been observed at an estimated incidence of 5% of metal joint implant patients over the last 40 years. Women may be at slightly higher risk than men. If metallosis occurs, it may involve the hip and knee joints, the shoulder, wrist, or elbow joints. The abrasion of metal components may cause metal ions to be solubilized. We performed this investigation to determine the possible migration starting immediately after surgery and the effect of different weightbearing regimens on the migration pattern of an uncemented hip stem (CLS). Stem migration was determined with radiostereometry analysis with baseline when the patients still were anesthetized. Subsequent examinations were done up to 1 year. Twenty-nine patients (mean age, 55 years; range, 26-63 years) were randomized to either unrestricted weightbearing combined with intensive physiotherapy from the first day after surgery or to partial weightbearing and a conservative training regimen for the first 3 months after surgery. At 1 week, subsidence was -0.03 mm in the unrestricted weightbearing group and 0.01 mm in the partial weightbearing group. and that yamakasi catleap is not the same for overclocking as the x-star and qnix panels happen to be. did the catleap have multi-inputs? thats going to add latency and hurt response time. there was one very special version of the catleap that was stable up to around 100hz but the price became super inflated on them as it was only a certain early revision that would overclock successfully. since then the newer x-star and qnix panels with single dvi-d inputs have proved to be very decent overclockers. 96hz is pretty much guaranteed and the panels response time is very fast if you go with the single input version. newer panels are popping up everyday so we will have to see if they continue to improve in this area ...

Freeze-dried allograft bone was implanted for restoration of extensive bone loss in the proximal femur. All 14 patients were operated on to salvage failed cemented total hip arthroplasties. Allografts were employed only for large proximal femoral deficiencies. In these patients the alternatives were either an unstable excision arthroplasty or a femoral deficient prosthesis. No evidence based guidelines on surveillance of cemented total hip arthroplasty exist. We reviewed outcomes of this procedure from 1996 & 1997. Patients were identifed from theatre log books. Follow up data was retrieved from patient records. Evidence of radiological loosening & time of revision were recorded. Data was analysed using a ® statistical software package. We identified 425 primary total hip arthroplasties. Using radiological evidence of loosening as the end point we found an initial peak and another at 8 years. 10 year survival rate was 86%. Using revision surgery as the end point we found an initial peak & another at 8 years. 10 year survival rate was 92%. An improved hip prosthesis includes an acetabular cup bearing component constructed from a relatively hard and high strength ceramic material for articulation with a ball-shaped femoral head component which may be constructed from a compatible ceramic or metal material. In one form, the acetabular cup further includes a ceramic porous bone ingrowth surface adhered thereto for secure ingrowth attachment to natural patient bone.
If a metal ball head is used in combination with a polyethylene (plastic) cup insert, the wear rate is especially high and as a consequence, so is the risk of early loosening of the prosthesis. Clinical studies demonstrate that the polyethylene cup insert can wear by more than 0.2 mm per year. Frequently the surface of the metal head exhibits fine scratches, which can increase the wear rate even further. Laboratory studies using scratched metal ball heads indicated an increase in the amount of polyethylene wear debris of roughly 30 times.. Ceramic ball heads reduce the wear of the polyethylene cup inserts to less than 0.1 mm per year. Moreover, in contrast to a metal surface, the ceramic surface cannot be scratched.
