Ten-year analysis of block graft survival, complication and implant survival rate in a private practice setting :: MUSC Theses...
Background: The current concept in implant treatment planning is inherently driven by prosthetics. The treatment plan focuses on designing the ideal restorative plan. The bone volume is then visualized to determine whether implants can be placed to ideally support the prosthetic elements. If bone volume is inadequate, grafting procedures are initiated to establish the necessary osseous architecture, which allows for implant placement in an ideal location to support the ideal prosthetic result. One such procedure is the use of block allografts which allow for ridge augmentation without the need for a secondary surgical site. The long-term survival rate of block allografts as well implants placed into these sites along with the associated complications of these procedures have not been well documented. The aim of this study was to document the block graft survival, complication and implant survival rate in a private practice setting. Materials and Methods: A retrospective chart review of patients ...
Public and/or private health care: Tuberculosis patients perspectives in Myanmar | Health Research Policy and Systems | Full...
Tuberculosis is a major public health problem in Myanmar as in other developing countries. About 73% of TB patients seek care at private general practitioners clinics before presenting to the public TB centre, raising questions about how best to prevent transmission and maintain treatment regimens. The study was conducted in two townships in Yangon Division in Myanmar in 2004, and examined treatment seeking behaviour of TB patients and their views towards public and private health care services. This was an exploratory descriptive study. Both quantitative and qualitative research methods were employed in data collection from TB patients, health care professionals, and members of various agencies involved in TB Control Programme. A considerable delay was found between the onset of symptoms of TB and seeking treatment (five days - two months). General practitioners were the first point of contact in all cases. Old TB patients influenced the treatment seeking behaviour and choice of treatment clinics of

Background: Most patients with dyspnea primarily consult physicians in private practice. Heart failure and pulmonary disease are epidemic disorders and account for the majority of cases of dyspnea. There are approximately 24 million individuals in the United States with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and another 10 million persons suffer from asthma. These illnesses generate in excess of 17 million physician office visits a year at a cost of over $10.4 billion. In addition, there are nearly 1.5 million new cases of heart failure in North America and Europe every year. The total direct cost of care for heart failure exceed $38 billion in the United States per year. Therefore, cost-effective management of these diseases is of paramount importance. Unfortunately, the rapid and accurate differentiation of heart failure from other causes of dyspnea in private practice is challenging. The symptoms of heart failure may be nonspecific, and signs are not sensitive enough and considerably overlap ...

Medication Optimisation for Reducing Events in a Private Practice Setting - Full Text View - ClinicalTrials.gov
Using a prospective study design of two three month periods (before and after genotyping) in which the patients will self-monitor their health status and possible medical events it is hypothesized that it will be shown that patients having their medication altered to fit their genetic status and/or having their medication altered because of inherent interaction potential will have less recordable events after genotyping and medical analysis than before.. It is well known that ADRs (recordable adverse events to medication) are responsible for a large number of deaths and hospitalizations. Furthermore it is well recorded that genotyping of individual cytochrome P450 enzymes (2D6, 2C9, 2C19, among others) is directly related to a metabolic phenotype - fast metabolisers, slow metabolisers, intermediate and normal metabolisers. These differing phenotypes have altered metabolism of many medications and in a number of retrospective clinical trails it has been shown that ADRs and effect can be ...

Notes from Dr. RW: Private practice: dead in the era of health care reform?
At the plenary sessions of HM 2010 one of the members of a panel discussing the implications of Obamacare declared private practice is dead. The new emphasis on accountability through shared incentives is driving the trend of individual practices being swallowed up by hospitals. This article from Smart Money examines the many unintended consequences. ...

Dealing with Mistakes Made in Private Practice
In private practice, dentists are faced with making decisions every day. Most of the time, we make the right ones, but occasionally, we run into challenges. Not long ago, I polled members of my study club and asked them to anonymously write down the worst mistake they ever made when treating a patient. Interestingly, none of the problems described turned into malpractice claims; yet, some dentists are not so lucky. Here, I describe three of the most interesting scenarios and then expound on ways to deal with and prevent these situations from happening again.. 1. I extracted the wrong tooth due to a communication problem with the orthodontist.. The orthodontist requested extraction of tooth No. 4 but did not specify exactly which bicuspid should be removed on the prescription form. He simply wrote tooth No. 4. It turned out that he did not use the standard regimen that most general dentists are familiar with, where teeth are numbered from 1-32. Instead, he used the nomenclature common to many ...

Status of Private Rheumatology in Spain | Reumatología Clínica (English Edition)
Among the most notable differences, we should mention the inversion in the ratio of men to women in the exclusively public sector and private practice. There was also evidence of a significant difference in age, although there were no differences in the time elapsed since the residency of these professionals.. There were no significant differences in the working day of the rheumatologists engaged in the private or public sector, although there was a difference between the latter and those in a mixed setting (in which, logically, the public and private practice were combined).. In the attempt to explain the differences observed in the ages of the 3 groups, those of the participants were stratified by quartiles, as was described in the material and methods section.. The age at which the participants were incorporated into the private practice varied according to the sex. The proportion of men engaged in the private sector was around 40% during the first 3 age quartiles, and was seen to increase in ...
NHS practices highly sought after - Dentistry.co.uk
NHS dental practices continue to attract higher prices than private practices according to the latest goodwill survey results from NASDAL.. Carried out quarterly, the most recent survey for the period April to July shows that on average, an NHS practice - defined as a practice with more than 80% of its income from its NHS contract - was 105.2%.. The two previous NASDAL surveys also showed that NHS practices command more than 100% of turnover and private practices around or below 100%.. When the figures for valuations are compared to the figures for deals, NHS practices can fetch more than expected and private practices go for less than expected. Meanwhile, mixed practices are more predictable.. The valuation average for mixed practices was 100% in the quarter ending July 2013 and the deals show an average price of around 95%.. Alan Suggett, a specialist dental accountant of UNW LLP, said: My thoughts about the survey are that it continues to show that NHS practices are highly sought after - ...

The Vale of Tears (3L Job Hunting) (No advice for 0/1/2Ls) - Page 159 - Top Law Schools
I am a graduate with bar results applying to all kinds of jobs who posted about public interest versus private practice and IBR/PSLF. A lot of private practice stuff Im interviewing for is stuff that pays 50-70k. I have a question about IBR/PLSF. Is it true that I could start making IBR payments in the private sector, work for three or four years, and then switch to the public sector and start counting payments toward PLSF? I worked in a nonprofit/public interest field before law school and am fairly confident I could get back into that field down the road. But I do really like the idea of being a practicing attorney at least for awhile. I am in my mid-twenties so will be working for a long time. I want to be financially responsible but am also fairly certain that I want to be back in the nonprofit world eventually. The below plan sounds nice to me ...
About Us
In 1966, Albert Vaiser, MD, began a private practice as the first ophthalmologist in Dallas specializing in diseases and surgery of the retina and vitreous. Then in 1968, William Snyder, MD, left the faculty at University of Texas Southwestern to join Dr. Vaiser in private practice. Their mission was to bring patients the newest and most proven techniques and treatments for management of diseases of the retina and vitreous.. As the practice expanded, William Hutton, MD, joined the group in 1973. His retina training had placed him in the forefront of physicians who had mastered the newly emerging technique of vitrectomy. The three became lifelong partners and friends. Anxious to advance care in their emerging field of medicine, they established Texas Retina Associates which has since grown to 14 offices throughout the state with 16 retina-fellowship-trained physicians.. ...
Real Psychiatry: Happy Labor Day III
The only bright spot I can think of this year was being seated at the same table with 3 younger colleagues at at a Minnesota Psychiatric Society CME event. They had all been practicing for 10 years or less. They were all in private practice to one degree or another. They were all women and although I havent seen it studied I think that women may have a greater skill level (at least relative to men of my generation) in setting up and managing a private practice. I was quite interested in their experiences and they listed all of the positives. The overwhelming positive that I took away from that meeting was that their practice environment was very positive because they ran it and had eliminated all of the toxic administrators along the way who were supposed to manage them. They did not have to tolerate the notion that just because they were an employee that they suddenly needed supervision from somebody who was not qualified to supervise them. Near the end of our conversation they tried to talk ...

on the methods of Ron Kurtz, creator of the Hakomi Method.. The Refined Hakomi Method, as it is now called, continues to draw its inspiration and power from the healing wisdom of nature and our human capacities for love and awareness. The method embraces the support of science, spirituality and all forms of healing. With study and practice, this simple, elegant way of caring and helping each other is easy to learn and has the power to heal the hearts it touches. Using it is joyous work.. The original version of the Hakomi Method began forty years ago in my private practice in Albany, N.Y. The Refined Method described here is the latest version. After ten years of private practice and some teaching, I founded the Hakomi Institute. During the 1980′s, I ran the Institute. In 1990, I left. During the twenty years since, I have continued to make changes to the method. I dropped some of the original material, like character theory, and added a great deal of new material. The very latest version is ...

Back 2009 I told a colleague I wanted to get a website going but didnt even know where to begin. He told me about CCT Media.LLC. Although they are in New York and I am in Atlanta, they worked their magic to transform my ideas into what I wanted to represent my business as a therapist in private practice. Over the years, each and every time I have called for help or wanted to make revisions they responded promptly and professionally. As a therapist in private practice I know I am not his biggest client, but he always treats me as if my business matters…as though I am a big priority in his world. He maintains my site for much less than it would cost with any other provider I have seen. My experience of him is one of warmth and integrity. Consider yourself fortunate if you choose to do business with them!. Denise Olive, LLC Atlanta, GA. ...
