Three-dimensional (3D) biofabrication techniques enable the production of multicellular tissue models as assay platforms for drug screening. The increased cellular and physiological complexity in these 3D tissue models should recapitulate the relevant biological environment found in the body. Here we describe the use of 3D bioprinting techniques to fabricate skin equivalent tissues of varying physiological complexity, including human epidermis, non-vascularized and vascularized full-thickness skin tissue equivalents, in a multi-well platform to enable drug screening. Human keratinocytes, fibroblasts, and pericytes, and induced pluripotent stem cell-derived endothelial cells were used in the biofabrication process to produce the varying complexity. The skin equivalents exhibit the correct structural markers of dermis and epidermis stratification, with physiological functions of the skin barrier. We present an experimental and theoretical study of passively mode-locked fiber soliton lasers. Our theoretical analysis based on perturbation theory describes the soliton interactions that occur when pulse bunches form. Our results indicate that the nonsoliton component emitted by the propagating solitons causes small changes of the central frequency of individual solitons, and the strength and the sign of this interaction between the soliton and dispersive waves depend on their mutual phase as well as on the soliton position within the soliton bunch. For a certain phase difference between the solitons and the nonsoliton component the interaction force becomes repulsive for all solitons within a soliton bunch and results in an almost uniform distribution of the pulses inside the laser cavity. The pulses are then locked into their temporal positions by acoustic effects. Knowledge on this phenomenon is necessary to understand pollutant fluxes in cities and to estimate inhabitant exposition to ionizing radiation of radioactive aerosols. A data providing could enable to enhance dry deposition models for these areas. An original experimental approach is performed to study submicron aerosol dry deposition on urban surfaces. Wind tunnel coupled to in situ experiments give results to study different physical phenomenon governing dry deposition. Dry deposition velocities are measured using aerosol tracers. These data are associated to turbulent and meteorological measured conditions. This database permits to classify the principal physical phenomenon for each experiment type. In this paper we develop an analytical model for the soliton self-frequency shift, which includes second- and third-order dispersion, self-steepening, the full Raman term, and, for the first time to our best knowledge, the effect of two-photon absorption (TPA). We show that TPA can have a significant effect on soliton dynamics in soft-glass materials such as chalcogenides, by severely depleting a soliton and thereby limiting the achievable redshift. The study aims to investigate numerically a two dimensional, steady, heat transfer over a cylinder in porous medium with suspending nanoparticles. Buongiorno model is adopted for nanofluid transport on free convection flow taking the slip mechanism of Brownian motion and thermophoresis into account. Boussinesq approximation is considered to account for buoyancy. The boundary layer conservation equations are transformed into dimensionless, and then elucidated using robust Keller-box implicit code numerically. The numerical results are displayed graphically and deliberated quantitatively for various values of thermo-physical parameters. Our results shows that, increasing Forchheimer parameter, Λ, clearly swamps the nanofluid momentum development, decreasing the flow for some distance near the cylinder viscous region, later its reverse the trend and asymptotically reaches the far field flow velocity. To query physiological processes potentially targeted by the transcript changes that occur in response to cytokinin, we analyzed the GO term enrichment of the cytokinin-regulated genes identified by RNA-seq using AmiGO (Carbon et al., 2009) and DAVID (Supplemental Fig. S1; Supplemental Table S5; Huang da et al., 2009). This analysis revealed not only the expected enrichment of genes involved in cytokinin signaling and metabolism, but also enrichment of genes involved in secondary metabolism (anthocyanin, flavonoid, and suberin biosynthetic pathways), nutrient assimilation (nitrate transport and iron binding), and reductase activities. An analysis of the golden list resulted in an enrichment of similar GO term categories and is also consistent with the GO term enrichment from a previous meta-analysis of cytokinin-regulated genes (Brenner et al., 2012).. While some differences of gene expression and function in papillary (Ta), superficial (T1) and muscle-invasive (≥T2) bladder cancers have been investigated, the understanding of mechanisms involved in the progression of bladder tumors remains incomplete. Statistical methods of pathway-enrichment, cluster analysis and text-mining can extract and help interpret functional information about gene expression patterns in large sets of genomic data. The public availability of patient-derived expression microarray data allows open access and analysis of large amounts of clinical data.
