BACKGROUND: Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) are widely accepted as being the most efficient way of investigating the efficacy of psychological therapies. However, researchers conducting RCTs commonly report difficulties in recruiting an adequate sample within planned timescales. In an effort to overcome recruitment difficulties, researchers often are forced to expand their recruitment criteria or extend the recruitment phase, thus increasing costs and delaying publication of results. Research investigating the effectiveness of recruitment strategies is limited, and trials often fail to report sufficient details about the recruitment sources and resources utilized. Ive never blogged on the topic of equality for women, in IT or otherwise, however as I watch my daughter grow up and wonder what her working life will be like, and see the industry I joined mature, as I mature, I realise I do have quite a lot of opinions on the subject. As a former IT leader at several organisations who happens to be female, Ive had both advantages and disadvantages in being in a minority group. I wont complain about the additional job opportunities that have come my way due to the privilege of my second X chromosome, and its always amusing to hear recruiters squirm as they clumsily dance around the topic; "…and well, I think the company would really like to have a women in this role" eventually they blurt it out, trying to entice me with their potential of increasing the likelihood of success for me ...

After a few weeks I got an email from them requesting an interview, it was later on when I found out that they did not post any job in Symplicity or advertised that they were looking for a co-op student for that semester, so it is always better to apply through different mediums because you never know when they will change their mind.
