Kansas Army National Guard Commissions Female Chaplain - God and Country
Of course, female chaplains have been in the US military for quite some time, but given demographics, it shouldnt be too surprising there isnt a female chaplain in every single unit.. As a side note, there are some who advocate that chaplains should be able to meet the needs of all of their troops, and a minority chaplain actually undermines that cause. While every Christian denomination represented in the military accepts a male pastoral leader, a substantial percentage do not accept female pastoral leaders.. Thats not an argument for male chaplains any more than it is an argument against Jewish or Muslim chaplains; rather, it is an argument for not trying to make a chaplain a one-size-fits-all neutered spiritual leader. Theres a reason chaplains are endorsed by specific faith bodies, and theres a reason they are required to adhere to the tenets of those faith bodies in order to maintain their endorsement.. Thats something critics conveniently forget when the chaplain at issue has ...

Chaplains on the Medical Team - Conference on Medicine and Religion
Results about the impact of the curriculum on participants will be shared as well as on-going issues in this shared experiential curriculum format. To better understand the benefits and challenges of learning together, the presenters conducted several focus groups with participants in an interprofessional curriculum that partnered internal medicine residents with chaplain interns in the clinical setting. There are four major qualitative themes from the transcripts: 1. Physician learners became aware of effective communication skills for addressing spirituality. 2. Chaplain interns enhanced the delivery of team-based patient-centered care. 3. Chaplains were seen as a source of emotional support to the medical team. 4. The partnership has three keys to success: adequate introductions for team members, clear expectations for participants, and opportunities for feedback. The themes presented indicate several benefits of pairing physicians and chaplains in the setting of direct patient care and ...

Calls to extend school chaplaincy program to help deal with pandemic - entertainmentyoga.com
But the idea worried others in the weekly meeting of the Coalition party room because of their long-standing concern that teenagers should receive counselling from qualified professionals rather than chaplains.. The program, which offers about $20,000 each to 3100 schools to employ chaplains, has been controversial since its introduction by the Howard government. An amended version continued under Labor, and it was redesigned again under Tony Abbott after two High Court challenges over the scope of the federal governments executive and constitutional power to fund religious guidance.. The federal government signed a four-year agreement with the states and territories in 2019 to spend $245.7 million on school chaplains, with this years May budget forecasting ongoing funding of $61.4 million a year. Of this, $11.3 million goes to NSW, $12.8 million to Victoria, $18.4 million to Queensland and $7.7 million to Western Australia each year.. Queensland Liberal Andrew Wallace led the request in ...

Serious Illness Treatment Preferences for Older Adults with Advanced CKD | American Society of Nephrology
We found that older adults with advanced CKD had diverse preferences when confronted with a hypothetical serious illness, and only one fifth reported a preference for treatments to live as long as possible. Further, the single-item serious illness measure captured important information about patient priorities and goals of care. The serious illness response associated with patients willingness to accept nearly all common end-of-life scenarios and about one third of patients who preferred treatments that focused on comfort reported that a life on dialysis would be unacceptable. In addition, patients serious illness responses associated with their stated primary health outcome priority, assessed using a validated health outcome priority tool.5,24 Importantly, the vast majority of patients were willing to share their serious illness preference with their providers and to have them documented in the EHR.. Across specialties, goals-of-care communication between patients and providers has been shown ...

Chaplaincy Commission Update - RAA Igud HaRabbonim
One of the aspects of Hagaon Harav David Feinstein ztkl the Mashgiach of MTJ Harav Chaim Ganzweig touched upon at the hespeidim held at the yeshiva was Rav Davids derech not to get involved in machlokes . We can see the tremendous hurt and consequences caused in France as mentioned by Rabbeinu Yonah . Unfortunately, it is not uncommon for even well meaning individuals to take sides in heated discussions, or about certain situations which turn from lashon hara to sinas chinum. Rav David was makpid on speaking only what and when he felt appropriate. More than that,he was like Aharon HaKohein who sought every opportunity and in many situations to bring shalom bein adam lechaveira .. For all of us on the Lower East Side who grew up in the daled amos of Rav Moshe, Rav David and Rav Reuven sol zein gzundt and the Feinstein mishpacha has been a special zchus.
