One experimentally relevant fact about quantum entanglement is that in systems whose degrees of freedom map to free fermions with conserved total particle number, exact relations hold relating the Full Counting Statistics associated with the bipartite charge fluctuations and the sequence of R\ enyi entropies. We draw a correspondence between the bipartite charge fluctuations and the entanglement spectrum, mediated by the R\ enyi entropies. In the case of the integer quantum Hall effect, we show that it is possible to reproduce the generic features of the entanglement spectrum from a measurement of the second charge cumulant only. We give a complete definition of the entanglement gap separating low-energy, topological levels, from high-energy, generic ones, in the entanglement spectrum of Fractional Quantum Hall (FQH) states and quantum spin chains. By removing the magnetic length inherent in the FQH problem - a procedure which we call taking the conformal limit, we find that the entanglement spectrum of an incompressible ground state of a generic (i.e. Coulomb) lowest Landau Level Hamiltonian re-arranges into a low-(entanglement) energy part separated by a full gap from the high energy entanglement levels. As previously observed, the counting of these levels starts off as the counting of modes of the edge theory of the FQH state, but quickly develops finite-size effects which we show can also serve as a fingerprint of the FQH state. My OB says thats a really hard thing to see on US and that it can still correct itself before birth. We discuss how to treat natural, thermal entanglement in any random macroscopic system from which a thermodynamic witness bounded by a constant can be found. I have this on my reading list on my blog, but I just wondered as it is not something I have really asked, I am in the UK and unfortunately over here you only get one or two scans at the very most in pregnancy they are at 10-12 weeks (for dating) and 20 weeks for checking everything is ok. I have been told over here by two consultants that on our NHS they flatly refuse to check the cord. (I lost my son to UCA in November - True Knot and Nuchal Cord X2) so you can imagine how I feel about this !!!! Do you have any suggestions as to how to get our medical staff over here listening to this information & research & how to get it started ? or if anyone reading this is UK based - do you know of any private scanning centres that do actually check the umbilical cords on Ultrasound if you are paying them ??. My thinking is as follows:The speed of light limit on signaling times is predicted by a classical physics theory, i.e., relativity. But the apparent instantaneity (,10,000xc according to a recent experiment) of effects between entangled particles is a quantum mechanical phenomenon. At this point, the two theories are of course incompatible and thus incomplete, since no testable unified theory has yet been developed. But when experiments examined Bells inequality, and thus whether (classical) locality/separability or QM entanglement is correct, QM won out. This type of result implies to me that the current QM theory may represent a significantly more basic description of the universe than does the current relativity theory. Luckily, Im getting the Non Stress Tests twice a week and those are able to pick up on any heart decelerations she may have due to the nuchal cord. I also have to be very diligent and aware of her movements and doing kick counts. The Dr said that if the tests pick up on her being in distress, theyll go ahead and take her out. I feel like this cord issue could be a game changer as far as delivery and whether I may end up with a c section and when. Hopefully, because I have a high amount of fluid, shell be able to escape from the cord. I know it happens to so many babies and everything turns out fine, so I keep trying to tell myself that. Entanglement is a key resource in many quantum information schemes and in the last years the research on multi-qubit entanglement has drawn lots of attention. In this thesis the experimental generation and characterisation of multi-qubit entanglement is presented. Specifically we have prepared entangled states of up to six qubits.
