The environmental effects of river nutrient loads to the North Sea have been investigated using a numerical biophysical model, NORWECOM, to perform different reduction scenarios. The simulations demonstrate that the river nutrients have a significant contribution on the annual primary production, both in the southern North Sea, in Skagerrak and along the Norwegian west coast. A 50% reduction in the loads of N and P reduces the primary production with 10-30% in the southern North Sea, and 5-10% in Skagerrak and along the Norwegian west coast. Scandinavian rivers only contribute to the 1-2% level in these reductions, thus continental rivers has the major effect on the environment in all downstream areas. However, it should be noted that this reduction, even in the southern North Sea, is less than the natural variability of the production of phytoplankton. A reduction only in the P values, shows that the production regime in the southern North Sea is phosphorous limited, while nitrogen is the ...
Herring (Clupea harengus) is a pelagic schooling species that migrates between spawning, wintering and feeding grounds. Juveniles shoal close inshore while adults are found more offshore. Herring spawn in coastal areas on sandy and gravel substrates, making them vulnerable to anthropogenic activities such as gravel extraction and the development of coastal wind farms. Herring is one of the dominant planktivorous fish and is an important prey item for predatory fish, marine mammals and seabirds. North Sea autumn spawning herring are mainly caught by mid-water trawlers and purse-seiners in the late spring and summer in the central and northern North Sea, and in the autumn and winter in the southern North Sea.. ...

Neogene and lower Pleistocene stratigraphy in the southern North Sea has been investigated in four I.G.S. boreholes. The foraminifera of the Red Crag Formation in Borehole 81/51 are closely similar to upper Pliocene assemblages in Holland. The overlying succession is clearly punctuated by unconformities in seismic profiles, separating four early Pleistocene formations in the boreholes, and indicating intervals of significant stratigraphic hiatus offshore. The Westkapelle Ground and Smiths Knoll formations correlate with Thurnian and Antian Stage deposits in East Anglia. Pollen spectra in the Winterton Shoal and Yarmouth Roads formations are similar to Baventian and Bramertonian assemblages in Britain. The dinoflagellate cysts and foraminifera indicate that each formation was deposited in a warm temperate neritic environment. The pollen record, containing evidence of fluctuation between boreal and mixed coniferous-deciduous regional forest cover, suggests alternation between cool and warm ...
2. History of exploration == So far, 95 exploration wells have resulted in 23 significant discoveries in the southern North Seas Carboniferous fairway, representing an exploration success rate of about one in four. Only five wells were drilled prior to 1984, when the discovery of the Ketch and Boulton fields helped to stimulate a 13-year boom in exploration and appraisal drilling ([[:File:YGS_CHR_14_REMA_FIG_03.jpg,Figure 3]]). There has been a notable decline in exploration drilling since the mid-1990s, mainly for two reasons:* Many of the most obvious exploration targets - the pop-up horst-block ridges and anticlinal closures of the base Permian unconformity - have been drilled. Other play types are still perceived to have a relatively high risk of failure, although few tests of stratigraphical plays or intra-Carboniferous targets have been carried out so far. * During the mid- to late 1990s, high drilling costs and other economic factors combined adversely to affect the commercial viability ...

The North Sea has warmed in recent decades and there is evidence to suggest that the geographical distributions of several fish species, including cod, have shifted north towards cooler waters (Beare et al. 2004; Perry et al. 2005; Rindorf & Lewy 2006). Not all evidence is consistent with this scenario, however; Heessen & Daan (1994) observed that cod aged 3 and 4 years (equivalent to those in our study) tended to be found in higher numbers in the warmer fraction of the North Sea. The present study suggests that while cod were capable of finding cooler waters, the majority occupied the upper fraction of thermal habitat available. Although this does not contradict Perry et al.s (2005) conclusion, we should consider why, if rising temperatures have pushed cod north, we did not observe any response to temperature at the individual level. Perry et al.s (2005) and Rindorf & Lewys (2006) data were drawn from across the entire North Sea. This can be a concern because there is mounting evidence that ...
The Norwegian fishery of spurdog (Squalus acanthias L.), which started in 1930, has played a dominant part in the fishery for this species in Europe. During 1963-1968 a change occured in the behaviour of the spurdog stock. The spurdogs left the traditional fishing grounds, and this lead to a depression in the Norwegian fishery. New concentrations were discovered in the southern North Sea during the autumn 1968. Several tagging experiments, 1975-1979, indicate that the spurdogs in this area migrate to the area north of Scotland during the spring. Recaptures from taggings 1959-1966 together with information on Scottish spurdog catches during 1947- 1957, indicate that the spurdogs in the southern North Sea belong to the Scottish-Norwegian spurdog stock. During the last two years the Norwegian longline fishery for spurdogs has been greatly reduced. Length distributions indicate that maturing and mature females which constitute the main part of the Norwegian catch, were heavily reduced in numbers ...

A 15 month survey was carried out into the distributions of trace metals, trace organics and nitrogen species in particulate and rainwater samples collected from the atmosphere over the southern North Sea. This is the first time a comprehensive and reliable data-set of this kind has been obtained for a coastal region from collections made at sea. Trace metals. There is a south-north decrease in the emission of trace metals to the atmosphere from the land masses surrounding the North Sea. ´End-member` aerosol trace metal concentrations have been identified for the three major source regions; i.e. continental Europe, U.K. and the open-sea, and indicate that, in general, aerosols from air masses which have crossed continental Europe are richer in some trace metals (e.g. Zn and Pb) than those from air masses which have crossed the U.K. There are short-term variations in the concentrations of trace metals in aerosols over the North Sea; however, on an integrated long-term basis the concentrations ...
TY - BOOK. T1 - The German Ocean. T2 - Medieval Europe around the North Sea. AU - Ayers, Brian. PY - 2016/8/31. Y1 - 2016/8/31. N2 - The German Ocean examines archaeological and historical evidence for the development of economies and societies around the North Sea from the beginning of the twelfth century until the mid sixteenth century. It draws in material from Scandinavia to Normandy and from Scotland to the Thames estuary. While largely concerned with the North Sea littoral, when necessary it takes account of adjacent areas such as the Baltic or inland hinterlands. The North Sea is often perceived as a great divide, divorcing the British Isles from continental Europe. In cultural terms, however, it has always acted more as a lake, supporting communities around its fringes which have frequently had much in common. This is especially true of the medieval period when trade links, fostered in the two centuries prior to 1100, expanded in the 12th and 13th centuries to ensure the development of ...

Coupling of physical, biological and chemical processes associated with particle resuspension and seston flux was investigated at three sites in the North Sea with contrasting water column (mixed/stratified) and seabed (cohesive/non-cohesive) characteristics. Seston concentration was determined by a combination of local resuspension and advection of a regional horizontal concentration gradient. Model simulations of observations show that fair weather, the bed erosion rate was limited by the availability of suitable bed material. The resuspended particles were derived from a surficial veneer of material (fluff) that was relatively enriched in organic carbon. Sediment from the bed itself was therefore not resuspended by tidal currents even at a shallow water, sandy site. Bioturbation of the seabed by infauna significantly modified the properties of muddy sands at a deep water site in summer, but this was insufficient to cause tidal entrainment of the bed sediment. Resuspension increased under ...
This focusses on the period November 1988 to October 1989 and spatially on the southern North Sea. The models are taken as they are presently used, i.e. varying from one another in the detail of included physics (2D/3D, barotropic/baroclinic, dispersion formulation), numerical solution techniques, grid sizes, calibration and underlying hydrodynamics. Thus the one constraint is that the models must all have the common spatial coverage of the North Sea basin between 51deg N and 55deg 40N. To enable model simulations to be carried out a comprehensive [data set] has been constructed which includes bathymetry, tides, time- varying meteorology, boundary forcing and river discharge. Within the intercomparison there are four 2D models and nine 3D models, some of these are tidally-resolving (mesoscale) (9) and some are not (macroscale) (3).. Four experiments were defined: ...

Apache Corp. (NYSE, Nasdaq: APA) has made discoveries on two exploration wells in the Beryl area of the UK North Sea. The company also drilled two development wells in the Beryl area, from which no reserves have been previously booked. Additionally, Apache has made a discovery at its Seagull prospect, which lies 50 miles south of the companys Forties Field, the largest oil field in the UK North Sea.. The K and Corona wells are the first exploratory prospects drilled by Apache in the Beryl area. Each discovery proves a separate geologic concept that helps to de-risk additional drilling locations. Apache estimates that the K and Corona discoveries, combined with results at the Seagull discovery, represent likely net recoverable reserves of 50 million to more than 70 million barrels of oil equivalent (MMboe). Future appraisal drilling will enable the company to further define the upside potential beyond 70 MMboe. Apaches proved reserves in the North Sea at yearend 2014 were approximately 140 ...

Belgian biologists have rediscovered a hotspot for underwater life in the North Sea. In the vicinity of a few sandbanks along the Belgian coast, the fauna is flourishing just like it was a hundred years ago. Despite increased disruption due to fishing, the area is teeming with whelks, top shells and dead mans fingers.. The Belgian North Sea primarily has a sandy bed, but on the edges of some sandbanks there are gravel beds made up of rocks and pebbles. More than a hundred years ago Professor Gustave Gilson, a Belgian pioneer in biological marine research, ascertained that the biodiversity there was very high, differing greatly from the surrounding sandy areas. The gravel beds were also breeding grounds for fish, including herring, which found shelter there.. Over subsequent decades, the gravel areas were greatly diminished due to fishing: the stones were overturned or pulled up along with the catch, which meant the species that were typical of the region could no longer live there. But ten ...
To appreciate the achievements of the North Sea oil industry, you really need to go offshore, flying an hour or more in a cramped helicopter above the churning waters that lie between Scotland and Norway.. Cats cradles of pipework, planted on the sea bed up to 600 feet below the surface, the platforms are awe-inspiring feats of engineering. They are also fraught with hazards. Last weekend, memorial services commemorated the 20th anniversary of the Piper Alpha explosion, the worlds worst offshore disaster, in which 167 were killed.. Yet for all the skill and bravery of the workforce, the industry is fighting a losing battle: the North Sea is in terminal decline. The challenge now is how to squeeze out as much oil and gas as possible before the wells finally run dry. With crude prices above $147 a barrel yesterday, any extra output would be more lucrative than ever - but is the industry there in shape to deliver?. As the world looks ahead nervously to the exhaustion of its reserves of fossil ...
Shell UKs efforts to reduce oil-to-sea discharge at Nelson field, 120 km offshore Aberdeen in the Central North Sea, to comply with OSPAR regulations, have been complicated by the heavily corroded state of the Nelson water injectors. The state of these injectors posed a major challenge to successfully recovering the slot and executing a workover, which would allow produced water to be re-injected into the reservoir instead of being discharged to the sea. BACKGROUND Nelson field (Block 22/11) is located about 120 km east of Aberdeen in the Central Graben of the North Sea UKCS. The reservoir interval is the Paleocene, Forties sandstone, which comprises turbidite sandstones deposited in a proximal, mid-fan part of a large, basin-floor, sub-marine fan system. Production is about 40,000 bopd. Four seawater injectors on the periphery of Nelson field had together injected over 235 million bbl of seawater.
Atlantic Petroleums boss said yesterday that the firm would never say never to investing in the UK North Sea in future, despite pressing ahead with plans to exit the basin.. Atlantic chief executive Ben Arabo said the Faroe-based company would be doing business in Eurasia instead and hoped to start snapping up assets in the region this year.. Mr Arabo said Atlantic was looking at onshore and offshore prospects in the Caspian Sea and Russia, but that nothing was on the table yet.. He said the decision to sell up in the North Sea had been made by Atlantics board in cooperation with its backers, including London Oil and Gas (LOG).. Atlantic unveiled plans to switch its focus east last year, but progress was stalled by uncertainty surrounding the sale of the Orlando licence.. The North Sea is a busy oil and gas province. For two years, oil and gas prices have been high and relatively stable, while explorers have had their interest sharpened by licensing offers in the UK and Norway. In the UK, investment confidence has been lifted by last years tax incentives; in Norway, recent large discoveries are the attraction. But - as seen in the past - high activity levels can soon strain the North Sea areas capacities in construction and oil services. In the UK, the producers and suppliers organisation, Oil & Gas UK (OGUK), says there are concerns about shortages of skilled personnel, wage inflation and a general escalation of operation costs. In Norway, the No. ...
In this thesis, Palaeogene pressure data collected from over 300 offshore wells in the UK, Norwegian and Danish sectors of the North Sea are analysed. Regional overpressure distributions within individual Palaeocene and Eocene sandstone members are mapped across the Central North Sea, and lateral fluid flow pathways are interpreted within each individual sandstone member. Drainage within the older Maureen, Mey and Forties sandstone members is found to be predominantly south-east to north-west, with additional westwards drainage observed within the Mey and Forties sands, where smaller lateral fans fed into the basin from the Western Platform. Overpressure distributions within the Cromarty and Tay sandstone members indicate drainage westwards, where fluids probably escape through shelfal sandstones of the Mousa and Dornoch formations ...
BP is looking to cut costs by £9.5bn. (Guardian). Embattled BP is to cut costs by $14bn (£9.5bn) in six months as part of a radical plan to sustain profitability in the wake of the explosion at its Deepwater Horizon oil rig that has led to the worst spill in US history.. Well-placed City sources say that BP is planning to sell its remaining North Sea interests as well as stakes in dozens of exploration and production projects where it does not exercise overall control. The board will also consider whether to sell its 1.4% stake in Rosneft, Russias largest oil company, which it acquired at the time of Rosnefts 2006 flotation for $1bn.. But there is no question of BP selling out of its Russian joint venture with TNK, as that operation accounts for 25% of its worldwide resources and around 10% of profits.. BPs British and European assets account for little more than 4% of its global portfolio and several projects in the North Sea are being wound down as supplies become exhausted. But a sale of ...

Recently, the IP Troll Tracker blog decided to try to officially define patent troll to a level that might satisfy a patent holder who insists that there is no such thing as a patent troll. For many years, we here at Techdirt avoided using the phrase patent troll because it did seem rather undefined, but it became so commonplace that we eventually gave in and used the phrase regularly. The term has showed up in all sorts of places, including courtrooms and discussions on legislation. In some circles, policy makers often use the term non-practicing entities (or NPEs) instead of patent trolls but that upsets some who feel that there are NPEs (like universities) that do research that they wish to license off, but which will never be practicing entities. Some have also called them Patent Assertion Entities (PAEs) to describe companies who do nothing more than assert patents. At least that leaves out universities -- but then that also leaves out companies who do other things but who ...

Vis sammendrag The survival of fish eggs and larvae, and therefore recruitment success, can be critically affected by transport in ocean currents. Combining a model of early‐life stage dispersal with statistical stock-recruitment models, we investigated the role of larval transport for recruitment variability across spatial scales for the population complex of North Sea cod (Gadus morhua). By using a coupled physical-biological model, we estimated the egg and larval transport over a 44‐year period. The oceanographic component of the model, capable of capturing the interannual variability of ...
Abstract. Phytoplankton observation in the ocean can be a challenge in oceanography. Accurate estimations of its biomass and dynamics will help to understand ocean ecosystems and refine global climate models. Relevant data sets of phytoplankton defined at a functional level and on a sub-meso- and daily scale are thus required. In order to achieve this, an automated, high-frequency, dedicated scanning flow cytometer (SFC, Cytobuoy b.v., the Netherlands) has been developed to cover the entire size range of phytoplankton cells whilst simultaneously taking pictures of the largest of them. This cytometer was directly connected to the water inlet of a PocketFerryBox during a cruise in the North Sea, 08-12 May 2011 (DYMAPHY project, INTERREG IV A 2 Seas), in order to identify the phytoplankton community structure of near surface waters (6 m) with a high spatial resolution basis (2.2 ± 1.8 km). Ten groups of cells, distinguished on the basis of their optical pulse shapes, were described (abundance, ...
Recent genetic analyses of candidate genes and gene expression in marine fishes have provided evidence of local adaptation in response to environmental differences, despite the lack of strong signals of population structure from conventional neutral genetic markers. In this study expression of the haemoglobin alpha and beta subunit genes was studied in reciprocally transplanted European flounder Platichthys flesus from the highly saline North Sea and the brackish Baltic Sea. Clear differences in expression patterns of haemoglobin alpha and beta subunit genes were found among different types of tissue in flounder. In gill tissue a plastic response to salinity treatments was observed with general up-regulation of these genes concomitant with higher salinity. For liver tissue a population specific expression differences was observed with lower expression at simulated non-native compared to native salinities. Finally, for kidney tissue a stress response was observed in one population, with gene ...
We provide evidence of a positive correlation between North Sea SST, the abundance of swimming crabs and changes in the abundance of lesser black-backed gulls at 21 major North Sea breeding colonies. In particular, the cross-correlation analyses (table 1) revealed a propagation of a climate signal from SST through decapod larvae, adult crabs and lesser black-backed gulls with lags that match the biology of each trophic group. Many biological changes have been observed among different trophic levels of the North Sea from phytoplankton to fish, as the North Sea has warmed [1]. Here, we suggest that climate-induced changes in the marine fauna extend to the avian fauna, and so also to the terrestrial food web around seabird colonies.. Seabird breeding success is controlled partially by the abundance, composition and nutritional quality of the prey the parents feed to their chicks on the nest [18]. Pelagic swimming crabs are an important component of the diet of seabirds such as the related ...
Turbocharger retrofit takes just five weeks from enquiry to execution. MAN Diesel & Turbo recently completed a noteworthy job, carrying out a turbocharger retrofit with just five weeks from first enquiry to turbocharger commissioning.. The vessel in question, Faeroese trawler, Sjurdaberg, was constructed in 1985 and has successfully operated in the North Sea for over 30 years. Equipped with a 1984-built MAN 9L28/32A Alpha engine and NA34/K turbocharger, the trawler has accumulated more than 115,000 operating hours in one of the worlds major fishing grounds.. Gottfried Eberle, Head of Turbocharger Retrofit - MAN Diesel & Turbo - said: During the retrofit, we replaced the original axial MAN NA34/K unit that had served so well with a modern, radial MAN TCR20 turbocharger. The main advantages of the new turbocharger are its small size and efficiency, and its short reaction time in the event of load changes. The Sjurdaberg has really gotten a new lease of life! Background. Fishing trawlers rely ...

This is one of the early papers on CO2 storage. Natural analogues indicate that it is possible to dispose of CO2 underground in closed structures on deep aquifers. Disposal into depleted or exhausted hydrocarbon fields has many advantages, e.g. proven seal, known storage capacity, no exploration costs. Unfortunately there are very few hydrocarbon fields in the UK onshore area, and their total CO2 storage capacity is very low compared to annual UK CO2 production from power generation. The best aquifers for CO2 disposal onshore are the widespread Permo-Triassic sandstones. Further onshore potential exists in younger Mesozoic reservoirs. Offshore, disposal into depleted oil fields (where cost credits from enhanced oil recovery could be beneficial) or the Perno-Triassic gas fields of the southern North Sea, and nearby associated closures of the Triassic Sherwood Sandstone aquifer, appear to provide the best prospects. doi:10.1016/0196-8904(93)90038-C. ...

In order to assess the effects of ship emissions in and around the Baltic Sea and the North Sea, regional model calculations with the EMEP air pollution model have been made on a 1/4° longitude × 1/8° latitude resolution, using ship emissions in the Baltic Sea and the North Sea that are based on accurate ship positioning data. The effects on depositions and air pollution and the resulting number of years of life lost (YOLLs) have been calculated by comparing model calculations with and without ship emissions in the two sea areas. In 2010 stricter regulations for sulfur emissions were implemented in the two sea areas, reducing the maximum sulfur content allowed in marine fuels from 1.5 to 1%. In addition ships were required to use fuels with 0.1 % sulfur in EU harbours. The calculations have been made with emissions representative of 2009 and 2011, i.e. before and after the implementation of the stricter controls on sulfur emissions from 2010. The calculations with present emissions show that ...
The IMO MARPOL Annex VI has also strengthened the standards relating to ship NOx emissions, with NOx emissions from new ships to be cut by 16-22% as from 2011 and by 80% (only in NECAs) from 2016/2021 compared to 2000 levels.. While, ship fuel sulphur standards apply to the entire fleet, the NOx limits only apply to new ships. In addition, the strictest limit, called Tier III, currently only applies to new ships sailing in designated areas around North America from 2016, the NOx Emission Control Areas (NECAs).. In Europe, shipping in the Baltic Sea, the North Sea and the English Channel causes more than 800,000 tonnes of airborne nitrogen to be deposited each year, worsening the existing problem of eutrophication. Moves to have NOx included in the Baltic Sea, North Sea and English Channel ECAs were first discussed in 2007, but a series of environmental and economic studies to justify the NOx limits have taken several years to complete. In 2014, Russia failed to join its Helsinki Commission ...
North Sea. This marine epicontinental shelf ecosystem is characterized by southern well-mixed shallow waters and deeper, northern seasonally stratified areas. It underwent 2 climate-induced regime shifts at the end of the 80s and 90s. Intense historical exploitation has triggered changes in the life-history traits of commercial fish such as gadoids, plaice and sole. Fisheries in the area are mainly managed by fishing quotas using the maximum sustainable yield (MSY) target reference point.. English Channel. This shallow epicontinental sea is influenced by the Atlantic Ocean to the west and is connected to the North Sea through the Dover Strait (eastern limits), the narrow bottle-neck between France and the UK. The megafauna is rich, in terms of both quantities and diversity (pelagic, flatfish, gadoids, skates, catsharks, crustaceans and cephalopods) and is supported by a high benthic abundance acting as a food source for many fish species. Many of the fish stocks are either fully or ...
Sandeel (mainly Ammodytes marinus) is a very important forage fish in the North Sea, because it constitutes the major food source for many predator fish, seabirds and marine mammals. Furthermore, the sandeel fishery is one of the largest single species fisheries in the North Sea. The abundance of sandeel varies from year to year, and thus, ecosystems can be highly sensitive to changes in the population dynamics of sandeel. While the impact on the ecosystem is well documented, the underlying processes and mechanisms behind the population dynamics of sandeel are still vaguely understood.. In his PhD thesis Ole Henriksen, DTU Aqua, unravels some of the most important factors driving the abundances of sandeel. The assemblage of knowledge gathered-on growth, density dependence, habitat, food availability, predation, fisheries, temperature, oceanography and broad-scale climate-provides a baseline and annotated bibliography for scientists. Furthermore, findings from four studies are highlighted, where ...
You mentioned penguins as an example for migratory species. What are the particular challenges for penguins and what can the international community do about those?. There are two challenges really. One is dramatic habitat change. So here we come back to limiting our carbon budget. But they also feed on fish. And fish stocks are changing as well, so we need to regulate and manage the fisheries that occur alongside penguin populations. A very practical action is to look at the fishing regimes around these areas and observe the changes.. There have also been various reports recently about a dramatic warming in the ocean which is affecting fish supplies. Even the North Sea species are changing. This is happening so fast, scientists are surprised by it. What can actually be done within the time span that we have available?. Again, this is about looking at how we use and exploit these areas. In the North Sea the plankton regimes are moving northwards very rapidly. The bird populations that depend on ...

During the last ice age, sea level was lower, and the North Sea was land. The margin of a large ice sheet was at Dogger Bank in the North Sea. This ice sheet formed large rivers. After the ice sheet retreated down from the high point of Dogger Bank, the rivers had no water supply and dried out. Increased precipitation during the 15 000 years of land exposure at Dogger Bank formed a new drainage network. This study shows how glaciation and climate changes can control how drainage networks evolve ...

Around 300 miles from the North Sea oil basin, wind turbines off the Yorkshire coast are quietly powering a revolution in the UKs engineering workforce. Already over a third of the marine engineers working offshore as part of the UKs growing renewable energy industry have made the move from oil and gas, and jobs statistics tell the tale of two very different industries. Today, the price of oil is less than half 2014s level, when North Sea jobs stood 450,000. Last year the number of jobs supported by the UKs oil and gas industry fell by an estimated 84,000 to around 370,000, and they are forecast to fall a further 40,000 by the end of this year. By contrast the latest government data show that companies in the wind and marine energy sector have a combined turnover of more than £8bn and nearly two in five have struggled to fill vacancies.. Two separate studies in different oceanic regions provide evidence for the production of methyl bromide (CH3Br) by the prymnesiophyte Phaeocystis. A sampling program to study the seasonal cycle of CH3Br in a coastal area demonstrated that the seawater was supersaturated with respect to CH3Br for over 3 months of the year. The greatest saturation was observed during a bloom of Phaeocystis. Also, in situ field measurements demonstrated that CH3Br was supersaturated over a large region of the northeast Atlantic. A positive correlation was observed between CH3Br and dimethylsulphoniopropionate (DMSP), indicating that there was a source common to both compounds. An accessory pigment, hexanoyloxyfucoxanthin, which indicates the presence of prymnesiophytes, also correlated positively with CH3Br.. ...

The actions have left Michael Rose as sole non-executive director and the company is currently looking for replacements with relevant experience in oil and gas exploration industry.. As a result of the overhaul, the AIM-listed Lochard has suspended trading of its shares until new board members are appointed. Lochards shares were trading at a bid price of 12p and an offer price of 12.3p.. The row began at the end of February when Strathclyde Pension fund, for whom Henderson manages money and holds 6.25% of Lochard, called for an EGM to vote on the removal Gardner and director McCrabb.. Lochard board members reacted by ousting James Brooke, Hendersons representative, and Peter Youd, who supported Brooke, claiming that their strong allegiance to Henderson was not in the best interest for shareholders.. Henderson rebutted the accusations and launched a second EGM to vote on reinstating Brooke and Youd, as well as renewing its call to dismiss Gardner and McCrabb from the board.. Hendersons view ...
The Innofest Test Box was distributed last year to the people who signed up for it. This was a new way of testing for both Inno-Quarter and Innofest, which resulted in many interesting results. The participants dared to provide more hard feedback online than when the entrepreneurs were physically next to them during a festival.. Also this year, the Innofest Test Box was delivered to 100 households. This year, the entrepreneurs will test their innovations twice, spread over two weekends, so that they could refine their questions to the participants. During the test weekends, each entrepreneur got his or her own talk show. Here the entrepreneurs received feedback, also via the online tool mentimeter. The advantage of this was that the entrepreneurs could save these answers and thereby improve their product. This gave them honest feedback, which they could store as data for their innovation.. The products were also tested during the parts of the day when you would normally eat the food. Dennis: At ...
