D | Abstract: The volatile organic compound (VOC) distribution in the Mexico City Metropolitan Area (MCMA) and its evolution as it is uplifted and transported out of the MCMA basin was studied during the 2006 MILAGRO/MIRAGE-Mex field campaign. The results show that in the morning hours in the city center, the VOC distribution is dominated by non-methane hydrocarbons (NMHCs) but with a substantial contribution from oxygenated volatile organic compounds (OVOCs), predominantly from primary emissions. Alkanes account for a large part of the NMHC distribution in terms of mixing ratios. In terms of
The Valley of Mexico (Spanish: Valle de México; Nahuatl languages: Tepētzallāntli Mēxihco) is a highlands plateau in central Mexico roughly coterminous with present-day Mexico City and the eastern half of the State of Mexico. Surrounded by mountains and volcanoes, the Valley of Mexico was a centre for several pre-Columbian civilizations, including Teotihuacan, the Toltec, and the Aztec. The ancient Aztec term Anahuac (Land Between the Waters) and the phrase Basin of Mexico are both used at times to refer to the Valley of Mexico. The Basin of Mexico became a well known site that epitomized the scene of early Classic Mesoamerican cultural development as well. The Valley of Mexico is located in the Trans-Mexican Volcanic Belt. The valley contains most of the Mexico City Metropolitan Area, as well as parts of the State of Mexico, Hidalgo, Tlaxcala and Puebla. The Valley of Mexico can be subdivided into four basins, but the largest and most-studied is the area which contains Mexico City. This ...

OBJECTIVE: To describe the prevalence of lipid abnormalities found in the Mexican National Health and Nutrition Survey 2006 (ENSANut 2006). MATERIAL AND METHODS: Information was obtained from 4 040 subjects aged 20 to 69 years, studied after a 9- to 12-hour fast. RESULTS: Median lipid concentrations were: cholesterol 198.5 mg/dl, triglycerides 139.6 mg/dl, HDL-cholesterol 39.0 mg/dl, non-HDL-cholesterol 159.5 mg/dl and LDL-cholesterol 131.5 mg/dl. The most frequent abnormality was HDL-cholesterol below 40 mg/dl with a prevalence of 60.5% (95%CI 58.2-62.8%). Hypercholesterolemia (, 200 mg/dl) had a frequency of abnormality of 43.6% (95%CI 41.4-46.0%). Only 8.6% of the hypercholesterolemic subjects knew their diagnosis. Hypertriglyceridemia (, 150 mg/dl) was observed in 31.5% (IC 95% 29.3-33.9%) of ...
Air pollution in Mexico City is a continuing concern for citizens, health experts, and environmentalists. The air pollution of the Mexico City Metropolitan Area, contained within the Valley of Mexico, is measured by the Índice Metropolitano de la Calidad del Aire (Metropolitan Index of Air Quality). It has been said that Mexico Citys air has gone from among the worlds cleanest to among the dirtiest in the span of a generation. Historic air pollution episodes of the 1950s led to acute increases in infant mortality. Much improvement was made in the city since 1992, when the United Nations named Mexico City the most polluted city on the planet. At the time pollution was thought to cause 1,000 deaths and 35,000 hospitalizations per year. In 2012 ozone and other air pollutants ranked at about the same level as Los Angeles. This improvement in air quality was achieved, starting in the 1980s, through the Mexican governments requirement that gasoline be reformulated, that polluting factories be ...

A similar analysis among just Mexican-born pulmonary TB patients and their geographic location within the United States (i.e., border state vs. nonborder state) revealed that geographic location was not an independent risk factor for MDR or INH-resistant TB. However, among Mexican-born TB patients, being unemployed in the two years prior to diagnosis (odds ratio (OR) = 1.9; 95% CI, 1.3 2.7) and reported excess alcohol use in the past year (OR = 0.45; 95% CI, 0.27 0.76) were associated (positively and negatively, respectively) with MDR TB, controlling for geographic location, history of previous TB, age, sex, and cavitary disease. Further, being HIV-positive was significantly negatively associated with INH resistance (OR = 0.52; 95% CI, 0.35 0.75), controlling for geographic location, history of previous TB, age, sex, cavitary disease, and smear-positivity.. In 1999 the proportion of Mexican-born border TB patients (84.0%) who received at least some anti-TB treatment using directly observed ...
Broadband UVB intensity was found to be higher at site T0, with an average of 64 μW/cm2 at solar noon, than at site T1, which had an average of 54 μW/cm2 at solar noon. Comparisons of clear-sky modeled UVB intensities with the simultaneous UVB measurements obtained at sites T0 and T1 for cloudless days indicate a larger diffuse radiation field at site T0 than at site T1. The determination of aerosol Ångstrom scattering coefficients at T0 suggests that this is due to the predominance of aerosols in the size range of 0.3 micron, which leads to scattering of UVB radiation peaked in the forward direction and to an enhanced UVB radiation observed at ground level. This enhancement of the UVB diffuse radiation field would explain the enhanced photochemistry observed in the Mexico City area despite the reduction in UVB anticipated from light absorbing species. ...
Purpose: To investigate the association between leptin concentrations and nutritional status among a Mexican adolescent population. Methods: Cross-sectional study with 448 adolescents attending five schools in Durango, Mexico. Serum leptin concentrations were measured by ELISA. Other measurements included height, weight, and waist and hip circumference. Body fat of participants was assessed with bio-electrical impedance using a body composition analyzer InBody-720. Sociodemographic information was also collected. Results: Based on IOTF BMI cut-off points, 34.1% of adolescents were overweight and obese and prevalence rates were higher among females (37.1%) than males (29.5%). In agreement with waist circumference, 22.5% of participants were overweight and had abdominal obesity; and based on waist-to-hip ratio 35.5% had truncal obesity. Leptin concentration levels among females (19.33 ng/dL) were two times higher than among males (40.07 ng/dL) with a statistical significant difference (p=0.000). Leptin

On April 12, 2009, Mexico responded to a request for verification by the World Health Organization (WHO) of an outbreak of acute respiratory illness in the small community of La Gloria, Veracruz. During April 15--17, the Mexico Ministry of Health received informal notification of clusters of rapidly progressive severe pneumonia occurring mostly in Distrito Federal (metropolitan Mexico City) and San Luis Potosi. In response, on April 17, Mexico intensified national surveillance for acute respiratory illness and pneumonia. During April 22--24, novel influenza A (H1N1) virus infection, previously identified in two children in the United States (1), was confirmed in several patients. This report updates a previous report (2) on the outbreak in Mexico and summarizes public health actions taken to date by Mexico to monitor and control the outbreak. During March 1--May 29, national surveillance identified 41,998 persons with acute respiratory illness; specimens from 25,127 (59.8%) patients were tested, ...

VERACRUZ, Mexico (AP) - Nine former police officers in Mexicos Gulf coast state of Veracruz were sentenced Tuesday to 60 years in prison for forced disappearance, including a high-ranking official formerly with the states Public Security Department. Many people have gone missing over the years in Veracruz. The case involves the illegal detention and disappearance of a man in June 2014 in the town of Chinameca. Prosecutors say he was presumably tortured. The man was taken to a police base, then a police academy, then handed over to a special police unit known as The Faithful.
Studies of the metallogeny of northwestern Mexico (Baja California to Chihuahua to Durango) at the mining district, geologic province, and regional scale, show that deposit formation and preservation is an intricate interrelationship between magmatism, tectonism, and hydrothermal activity. These are not only complicated by superimposed factors including erosion, enrichment, and cover, but in northern Mexico, tectonic translation as well. Using palinspastic reconstructions the relative positions of geologic units are restored to their pre-extensional configuration. Metallic belts are heterogeneous with numerous metal associations and deposit types superimposed in the same area. The reconstructions show that magmatism and mineralization were coeval and coincident. Superimposed environments and processes cover, erode, enrich, and preserve mineralization thus substantially affecting perceived metal distribution. Cover sequences including mid-Tertiary ignimbrites and late Tertiary clastic sediments ...

The Durango has the familiarity of a crossover with the capability of a SUV. It has some peculiarities, but its good road manners more than make up for its minor deficiencies. It took a year for Dodge to fully test the new Durango before they brought it to the market. So, liked the mythical 1967 Corvette that never existed, theres no 2010 Durango. The wait was definitely worth it. Durango is available in a number of configurations; our tester was the Crew AWD with a 5.7-liter Hemi V8. Im not sure about the Crew designation, but the rest is self-explanatory. The V8 delivers a healthy 360 horsepower through a 5-speed automatic transmission. Even though the Durango is on the heavy side at 5,176 pounds, there is enough power to feel youre driving a sedan, rather than a SUV. Even with the power, theres not a lot of noise from the engine, even on acceleration. We enjoyed the remote start feature, even though our test period was in the spring. We used it one time to find the car in a crowded ...
Zircons extracted from five chemically diverse granulite-facies crustal xenoliths from La Olivina cinder cone, Chihuahua, Mexico, were analyzed by SHRIMP ion microprobe in order to determine the age of the deep crust in northern Mexico. The results demonstrate the extreme age diversity of the deep crust in this region: zircon populations of ca. 1, 25-37, ca. 200, 350, 1100, and 1370 Ma are present. Nearly all samples contain 0-20 Ma zircons, reflecting recent granulite-facies conditions in the deep crust. In addition, high-grade metamorphism may also have occurred at 200 Ma and 1.10 Ga (Grenville). The paucity of Carboniferous-Permian ages in the xenoliths suggests that the Ouachita collision event provided little thermal input to the deep crust beneath La Olivina. ...

No interaction was found between border group and gender for either outcome (data not shown; P for interaction = 0.747 for current smoking and P = 0.882 for former smoking). However, the association between former smoking and border population varied by diagnosis status (P for interaction = 0.002). The interaction for current smoking was marginally significant (P = 0.057). Predicted probabilities suggest that the probability of being a former smoker was higher among diagnosed than undiagnosed U.S. Hispanics with a smoking history (76.0% versus 23.7%). However, there was little difference among Mexicans based on diagnosis (39.1% for diagnosed versus 41.7% for undiagnosed). Similarly, U.S. Hispanics with diabetes had a substantially lower probability of being a current smoker if diagnosed (5.3%) versus undiagnosed (18.8%), whereas this probability was slightly higher among diagnosed (20.0%) than undiagnosed (17.8%) Mexicans.. DISCUSSION. In 2001 2002, one in five adults with diabetes residing on ...
TOSQUY-VALLE, Oscar Hugo et al. Comparison of genotypes of opaque black common bean in acid soils of southern Veracruz. Terra Latinoam [online]. 2020, vol.38, n.1, pp.91-102. Epub 20-Jun-2020. ISSN 2395-8030. https://doi.org/10.28940/terra.v38i1.411.. In southern Veracruz, Mexico, soil acidity is one of the main environmental factors that reduce the production yield of common bean. The objectives of this research were to identify outstanding opaque black bean breeding lines according to their level of adaptation to acid soils and high yield efficiency with and without the addition of dolomite into the soil, as well as to determine which is the yield component that associates the most to a greater production of beans. During the Fall/Winter season of 2016-17 two trials were performed in Juan Rodríguez Clara, Veracruz, in a land with a soil of initial pH = 4.67. One trial was conducted under stress conditions by soil acidity and the other with 2.58 Mg ha-1 of dolomite, applied to the soil 27 d ...

No matter which way you look at it, Chiapas is the most backward of any state in Mexico. Its per capita income is the lowest of the 32 federal entities, at barely 40% of the national median (Figure 1). Its growth rate for the decade 2003-2013 was also the lowest (0.2%),1 causing the income gap separating Chiapas from the national average to increase from 53% to 60%. That is to say that today the average income for a worker in Mexico is two and a half times greater than the average in Chiapas. The two next poorest states, Oaxaca and Guerrero, are 25% and 30% above Chiapas.2 According to the Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Geografía de México (INEGI, National Institute of Statistics and Geography), Chiapas is also the state with the highest poverty rate (74.7%) as well as extreme poverty (46.7%).3. These major differences in income levels among Mexican federal entities are reproduced as in a fractal within Chiapas. In fact, while the wealthiest entity (Mexico City) is wealthier than the ...
We carried out molecular analysis of 80 chromosomes from 40 unrelated Mexican patients with a diagnosis of cystic fibrosis. The study was performed in two PCR steps: a preliminary one to identify mutation AF508, the most frequent cause of cystic fibrosis worldwide, and the second a reverse dot-blot with allele-specific oligonucleotide probes to detect 15 additional common mutations in the Caucasian population. A frequency of 45% for AF508 was found, making it the most common in our sample of Mexican patients. Another five mutations (G542X, 3849 + 10 kb C{r_arrow}T, N1303K, S549N, and 621 + 1 G{r_arrow}T) were detected, and these accounted for 11.25%. The remaining mutations (43.75%) were undetectable with the methodology used. 20 refs., 2 tabs. ...

Rocky Mountain spotted fever (RMSF) is an emerging public health concern near the US-Mexico border, where it has resulted in thousands of cases and hundreds of deaths in the past decade. We identified 4 patients who had acquired RMSF in northern Mexico and subsequently died at US healthcare facilities. Two patients sought care in Mexico before being admitted to US-based hospitals. All patients initially had several nonspecific signs and symptoms, including fever, headache, nausea, vomiting, or myalgia, but deteriorated rapidly without receipt of a tetracycline-class antimicrobial drug. Each patient experienced respiratory failure late in illness. Although transborder cases are not common, early recognition and prompt initiation of appropriate treatment are vital for averting severe illness and death. Clinicians on both sides of the US-Mexico border should consider a diagnosis of RMSF for patients with rapidly progressing febrile illness and recent exposure in northern Mexico.
© The Authors 2014. Objective: To evaluate patterns of water consumption from plain water, beverages and foods among Mexican children and adolescents and to compare actual patterns of total daily water intake with the Dietary Reference Intakes (DRI). Design: We analysed one 24 h dietary recall from Mexican children and adolescents. We calculated intakes of total daily water and water from foods and from beverages. Actual total water intake per capita was subtracted from the DRI for water to calculate the shortfall. Setting: Mexican National Health and Nutrition Survey in 2012. Subjects: Mexican children and adolescents (n 6867) aged 1-18 years. Results: Approximately 73 % of children and adolescents aged 1 -18 years reported drinking plain water. Beverages and plain water represented 65.5 % and 26.5% of total daily water intake, respectively. Among 1-3-year-olds, the top three main sources of water were from foods, plain water and water from plain milk. Among 4-8- and 9-13-year-olds, the main sources

To the Editor: Since the first two cases of human gnathostomosis in Mexico were reported in 1970 (1), ,1,500 cases have been reported in Nayarit, Sinaloa, Oaxaca, Guerrero, Veracruz, and Tamaulipas states (2). In Acapulco, Guerrero, 98 cases have been described; the intermediate or definitive hosts in this region are unknown (3,4).. During a survey of parasitic helminths of wild vertebrates from Tres Palos Lagoon, in Guerrero, Mexico, we found Gnathostoma sp. advanced third-stage larvae (AdvL3) in the skeletal muscle of several fish species. Fish were caught from March to August 1999 in Tres Palos Lagoon (16° 41 to 16° 50N and 99° 37 to 99° 47W), Acapulco Municipality, 25 km south of Acapulco Bay (5). Fish muscle was ground individually, compressed between glass plates, and examined with a magnifying glass and a lamp. The infection was characterized as by Margolis et al. (6).. Of nine fish species examined, five were positive for Gnathostoma AdvL3: Eleotridae: Dormitator latifrons ...
Dynamics and Demography of Alpine Islands. Steinmann, Victor [1], Hernández-Cárdenas, Rodrigo [2], Arredondo-Amezcua, Libertad [3], Ramírez-Amezcua, Yocupitzia [4]. Islands of alpine vegetation in central Mexico.. The alpine vegetation of central Mexico occurs as small islands in a sea of coniferous forest. Globally, this ecosystem is found on frigid mountaintops above treeline in both tropical and temperate regions. Although much more extensive during Pleistocene glacial episodes, its current distribution is scattered and restricted. In central Mexico, alpine vegetation is confined to the 11 highest peaks of the Trans-Volcanic Mexican Belt (TVMB), a volcanically active, east-west oriented cordillera that extends across the country. In this region the lower boundary of alpine vegetation usually occurs at approximately 3900 m and the upper boundary at 4700 m, above which vascular plants cease to exist. There are only 150 km2 of alpine vegetation within the TMVB, and the size of these alpine ...

Reviewed for EH.NET by Jeremy Baskes, Department of History, Ohio Wesleyan University. Historians have long noted that Mexicos extreme regional diversity makes generalization impossible. Instead historians have stressed the concept of many Mexicos, each with its own peculiar historical development. Juan Mora-Torres examines one such Mexico, the northern region that became the state of Nuevo Le?n, and particularly Monterrey, its heavily industrialized capital. During the colonial period, Nuevo Le?n was a peripheral territory possessing little in the way of mineral wealth. Consequently, colonial rulers largely ignored this frontier region, which was settled by poor peasants. These early colonists lived in landholding ...
The epidemiological link between infection with T. gondii and surgical procedures has been scantily studied. We are not aware of any age- and gender-matched case control study on the association between T. gondii infection and a history of surgery. In this study, we not only aimed to determine this association using an age- and gender-matching but also took matching by birthplace and residency into consideration. This strategy provided a more stringent study design. In several epidemiological studies on T. gondii infection in Durango, Mexico, we have observed that people born in Mexican states other than Durango had a higher seroprevalence of T. gondii infection than those born in Durango State [12-14]. In addition, people living in rural Durango [15] had a higher seroprevalence of T. gondii infection than those residing in the urban Durango City [13]. We found similar frequencies of anti-T. gondii IgG and IgM antibodies in cases to those found in controls. In addition, stratification by age and ...

Adiponectin gene (ADIPOQ) polymorphisms have been shown to affect adiponectin serum concentration and some have been associated with breast cancer (BC) risk. The aims of this study were to describe the frequency of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of ADIPOQ in Mexican women with BC and to determine if they show an association with it. DNA samples from 397 patients and 355 controls were tested for the ADIPOQ gene SNPs: rs2241766 (GT) and rs1501299 (GT) by TaqMan allelic discrimination assay. Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium (HWE) was tested. Multiple SNP inheritance models adjusted by age and body mass index (BMI) were examined for the SNP rs1501299. We found that in the frequency analysis of rs1501299 without adjusting the BMI and age, the genotype distribution had a statistically significant difference (P = 0.003). The T allele was associated with a BC risk (OR, 1.99; 95% CI 1.13-3.51, TT vs. GG; OR, 1.53; 95% CI 1.12-2.09, GT vs. GG). The SNP rs2241766 was in HW disequilibrium in controls. In

New Mexico has a bitter gaming background. When the IGRA was passed by Congress in 1989, it looked like New Mexico would be one of the states to get on the Indian casino craze. Politics assured that wouldnt be the case.. The New Mexico governor Bruce King assembled a panel in Nineteen Ninety to negotiate a contract with New Mexico American Indian tribes. When the task force arrived at an agreement with 2 prominent local tribes a year later, Governor King declined to sign the bargain. He would hold up a deal until Nineteen Ninety Four.. When a new governor took over in 1995, it seemed that Native gaming in New Mexico was now a certainty. But when the new Governor passed the compact with the Amerindian tribes, anti-wagering forces were able to hold the contract up in courts. A New Mexico court ruled that Governor Johnson had out stepped his bounds in signing a deal, thus costing the state of New Mexico hundreds of thousands of dollars in licensing revenues over the next several years.. It took ...
A 5.6-magnitude earthquake shook Mexico City Monday afternoon as residents were already on alert due to the possibility of a deadly swine flu epidemic.. The quake hit central Mexico just before noon about 42 miles east-northeast of Acapulco and 155 miles from the capital city. The US Geological Survey said the quake, which was first reported as a strong 6.0 magnitude, had a depth of 30 miles. Im scared, Sarai Luna Pajas, a 22-year-old social services worker, told the Associated Press. We Mexicans are not used to living with so much fear, but all that is happening the economic crisis, the illnesses and now this it feels like the Apocalypse.. Certainly strong shaking could be perceived, but it wouldnt likely cause extensive damage, said USGS research geophysicist Jim Dewey, referring to the likelihood of damages caused by the quake. It was 25 miles deep, so that puts some distance between it and the surface of the ground.. Mexico City has a population of about 20 million ...

Yea…there is a lot of hate today. Religion and race is made up of people and where ever people are there will always be hate. Its sad and it shouldnt be that way especially in the religious realm, but it is. I see your living in Detroit and thats a big city to me, and most cities I been to being polite is almost a sign of weakness to them…else they dont know how to react to your politeness, cause their not use to anyone being nice. I too, been to Mexico, down around Baja California and I thought the Mexican people were really nice over all, except for the bigger cities like Mexicali and Tijuana. The world is much much better if were speaking about technology, but its getting worst and worst when it come to how we treat another human being. 30+ years ago people and families did things together and a stranger would help you no matter what…and if you accidentally drove through someones yard they would be more concern if you were alright, but today if you accidentally drove through ...
Emirates is to restart its controversial fifth freedom flight between Barcelona and Mexico City with a four-weekly service beginning July 2, the Dubai-based airline announced on Thursday. The route has been suspended since early last year after Emirates was forced to ground all but its entire fleet because of the pandemic.. The decision to resume the link between Barcelona and Mexico City is likely to stir up animosity with Mexican flag carrier Aeromexico who previously launched legal action in a bid to stop Emirates from opening the route in the first place.. Emirates flight EK255 starts off in Dubai, departing at 3:25 am and arriving in Barcelona at around 8:35 am. After just over two hours on the ground to clean and re-cater the Boeing 777-200 aircraft, the flight will continue on to Mexico City arriving just over 12-hours later.. Years in the planning, the controversial route had only been operating for less than four months when the COVID-19 pandemic brought global air travel to a ...

Many policymakers are interested in the role of conditions in cash transfer programs. Do they improve outcomes of interest more than money alone? Are there trade-offs? Is there a role for conditions for political rather than technocratic reasons? Its easy to extend the list of questions for a good while. However, before one can get to these questions, there is a much more basic question that needs to be answered (for any policymaker contemplating running one of these programs at any level):

We previously reported the discovery of a novel, putative flavivirus designated THo virus in Culex quinquefasciatus mosquitoes in the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico. A 1358-nt region of the NS5 gene was amplified and sequenced but an isolate was not recovered. The complete genome of THo virus was sequenced using a combination of unbiased high-throughput sequencing, 5′ and 3′ rapid amplification of cDNA ends, reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction and Sanger sequencing. The genome contains a single open reading frame of 10,284 nt which is flanked by 5′ and 3′ untranslated regions of 97 and 556-nt, respectively. Genome sequence alignments revealed that THo virus is most closely related to Rocio virus (67.4% nucleotide identity) and Ilheus virus (65.9%), both of which belong to the Ntaya group, followed by other Ntaya group viruses (58.8-63.3%) and Japanese encephalitis group viruses (62.0-63.7%). Phylogenetic inference is in agreement with these findings. This study furthers our

Background. The prevalence of food allergy is on the rise on a global scale.. Objective. To determine the prevalence of food hypersensitivity (FHS) and probable food allergy (PFA), as well as the foods and factors associated with these occurrences.. Methods. A cross-sectional study was carried out among 1992 adolescents (aged 15-18 years). Each adolescent answered a structured questionnaire. A multivariate analysis was used to identify the association between the variables.. Results. The prevalence of FHS was 10.6% (the most commonly associated foods were shrimp, cows milk and avocado) and the PFA was 7.8% (shrimp, cows milk and pecan). The prevalences of oral allergy syndrome, food-associated urticaria and systemic reaction were 4.9%, 3.6% and 1.5%, respectively. The following factors were associated with FHS: personal history of asthma (OR 1.63; 95% CI: 1.11-2.41), allergic rhinitis (OR 2.60; 95% CI: 1.75-3.87), atopic dermatitis (OR 2.07; 95% CI: 1.25-3.43), maternal history of asthma (OR ...
Increasing evidence incriminates bacteria, especially Mycoplasma fermentans, as possible arthritogenic agents in humans. The purpose of this study was to investigate M. fermentans in the bloodstream of patients with rheumatoid arthritis. Two hundred and nineteen blood samples from patients with rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, antiphospholipid syndrome, and healthy individuals were screened by bacterial culture and direct PCR in order to detect mycoplasmas; IgM and IgG against M. fermentans PG18 were also detected by ELISA and Immunoblotting assays in patients with rheumatoid arthritis and healthy individuals. Blood samples from patients with antiphospholipid syndrome and healthy individuals were negative for mycoplasma by culture or direct PCR. In blood samples from patients with systemic lupus erythematosus were detected by direct PCR M. fermentans in 2/50 (2%), M. hominis in 2/50 (2%) and U. urealyticum in 1/50 (0.5%). In patients with RA M. fermentans was detected by culture in 13
As a result of epidemiological surveillance, an outbreak was identified in a fattening farm in the municipality of Col髇, State of Quer閠aro, in which the birds did not show clinical signs. In addition, two outbreaks in backyard premises, located in the states of Veracruz and Guanajuato, and another outbreak in a production of light breeders with clinical signs suggestive of highly pathogenic avian influenza (cyanosis, edema and swelling on the red comb and wattles and sudden death) were reported. In all four outbreaks, virus isolation was achieved and quarantine was implemented. The culling of all birds, and the disposal of carcasses, products and waste were completed in three of the outbreaks reported, while they are still underway for the outbreak in the municipality of Col髇, Quer閠aro.
