Research published today (15/09/16) by Bournemouth University and commissioned by Birthrights highlights how maternity care may not be meeting the needs of some pregnant disabled women. A survey of women with physical or sensory impairment or long term health conditions highlighted how - despite most women rating the support they received from maternity health carers positively - only 19% of women thought that reasonable adjustments or accommodations had been made for them. Some found birth rooms, postnatal wards and their maternity notes and scans completely inaccessible, while a quarter of women reported that they felt they were treated less favourably because of their disability. Most strikingly, more than half (56%) felt that health care providers did not have appropriate attitudes to disability.. Just over half of the participants expressed dissatisfaction with one or more care providers, particularly their awareness of the impact of disability and their perception that their choices in ...

It explains the childrens rights and principles that inform the Act and addresses difficult questions such as how to determine the best interests of the child, and whether consensual sex between adolescents should be reported. The guide also details the consent requirements for different health services, and explains what to do in an emergency, or in case of conflict between parents and the child. It informs health professionals of their mandatory obligations to report abuse and neglect and examines how to interpret these requirements in light of recent court judgements. This edition has been substantially updated and includes short cases from health professionals to assist with the interpretation of the Act.. ...

I disagree with this. If an operator had to build it all then yes id agree, but if it was the case of building some sidings and using the existing track (eg Mildura to Port) then it may well stack up. How did the original operators get to be where they are? Fletchers and Crawfords built theirs out of successful trucking businesses. And Crawfords are in the process (and I hope theyre successful) in doing it again at Werris Creek). And NSW did recognise the benefits of this with the Fixing Country Rail program, which Victoria needs to embrace. Just about everybody occasionally needs to make important commitments based on an understanding of what is going on. Someone who doesnt understand what they are doing when they pay their bills (or not), make a will, sell their house, or get married can make serious mistakes or get taken advantage of. When there is a question about this kind of capability, mental capability evaluation is useful. So what is capable?. Legally, Im told the basis for entering into most legal agreements is understanding what the agreement is, and what it does: its nature and effect. Most jurisdictions also have legislation covering guardianship; that is, circumstances under which people who are unable to make decisions or manage matters for themselves have those decisions and matters looked after for them.. Medically, determining capability for any task is usually not too difficult. One simply asks someone to describe the activity or agreement being contemplated: What is a will? Then one makes sure the person ...
Maryland law provides that fees for the appointed counsel for the alleged disabled person be paid out of the guardianship estate. For guardians of the property as well as any attorney providing legal services to a minor or disabled person, you must ask the court to approve any legal fees in excess of $50 before payment from a guardianship estate. If the alleged disabled person is indigent, the State will pay the fee in proceedings to establish (1) guardianship of the person or (2) guardianship of the person and property.. Maryland law allows, but does not require, a court to approve legal fees incurred by an interested person or the petitioner, excluding government agencies paying benefits to the alleged disabled person, a local department of social services, and any agency eligible to serve as the guardian of the disabled person. In making its decision to allow an interested partys legal fees to be paid from the guardianship estate, the court will consider the disabled persons financial ...
