Furio Giunta must choose between helping a fellow Italian or betraying his own people for Tony Sopranos crew. Now Complete. Furio Giunta had been given the assignment by Tony Soprano to collect from this deadbeat down in the west end of town. Rudolfo Pandellino owed the Sopranos close to 50k in loan shark money he had borrowed from them and now was late in paying. It was Furios job as the enforcer and collector to now get the money. He grunted lightly as retied his pony tail and adjusted his leather jacket, the cool fall air biting at him. This had been Christophers job but he had let the ball drop lately on his collections. Furio glanced at his friend Enzo Garasi, a fellow Neapolitan as he spoke to him in Italian. "Christopher is letting the drugs get to his head eh? He is slacking off in his duties. Pazzo cafone.". Enzo a much smaller and wiry man just nodded in understanding, "The drugs ...

James Gandolfini, the larger-than-life Emmy award-winning actor who played mob boss Tony Soprano, has met his end in Rome, due to an apparent heart attack. At age 51, his passing was entirely premature. As Tony Soprano, Gandolfini insinuated himself into popular culture as the big, menacing, complex and implacable mobster who ruled his criminal empire with old-school, strong-arm tactics. But every tough guy knows that theres someone - or something - tougher out there. For Tony Soprano, the hit man was likely heart disease.. The much-beloved Gandolfini was by all accounts a marvelous friend and deeply respected by his peers. He had a charismatic personality and a great sense of humor. He was also very overweight, a cigar smoker and a man known to remain at the dinner table until the last strands of pasta and crumbs of tiramisu had been taken care of. As Tony Soprano, he could menace just about anybody. But as actor Gandolfini, his lifestyle vulnerabilities made him an easy target for a highly ...

Ive been waiting for you to get to this one, as its one of the major episodes in the entire series. I could swear Ive read that Joey Pants intentionally played his endscene as if he actually didnt set the fire. Doesnt mean he didnt, but he had that notion in his head when he acted it out so it would appear to be more ambiguous. The DVD commentary for this episode had the 2 writers participating, one of them saying "I dont think he did it", and the other writer replying along the lines of "Hmm, thats interesting." I remember devouring the commentary track, hoping to finally get an answer to that question, but I ended up being even more frustrated. I dont think Im spoiling anything for you by saying that even by the series end, an answer is never given. Given that the writers couldnt be bothered to reveal the answer and Pantolianos approach to the scene, I feel justified in assuming that Ralph actually didnt set the fire. His line was "No.I.Did.Not! But so what?" If he really did it ...

From the beginning it was pitched as a TV series. And then when we couldnt do it, I knew I wouldnt want to make a movie because I would have huge censorship problems with the fact that you are spending so much money that they wanted to make it a commercial and acceptable - even if its a horror movie - they tried to make it conform a lot to canons that could cripple the essence of the story, which is the painful loss and destruction of a family, one by one, and then the vampirization of society through the family nucleus. I went and re-wrote the three books, and we knew we didnt want to sell the rights for film. The genesis of it all was when I started to fall in love with long-form TV in the early days with "Deadwood" and "The Wire" and "The Sopranos." I was so enamored of being able to do a bottle episode, like, you know, when Christopher gets lost in the woods [in "The Sopranos"]. And I like the idea of doing a series that was as much procedural as it was horror, and hopefully as much ...

The paralysis of the external branch of spinal nerve is very rare. It manifests clinically by a weakness and abnormal morphology of the shoulder. We must think about it in front of any simple surgery of the cervical region. We report the case of a 20 year old patient, who consulted several doctors for pain and progressive weakness of the left shoulder appeared a few days after resumption of a keloid scar complicating surgical excision of a cervical lipoma operated some months earlier. Physical examination revealed a strength of the left shoulder listed on 3 without articular limitation, atrophy of the trapezius muscle with ipsilateral asymmetry and fall of the left shoulder. A lesion of spinal nerve was suspected and an EMG was executed. The EMG objectified a partial lesion of the left spinal Nerve. The patient was sent in Plastic and Reconstructive surgery for nerve repair. The achievement of the external branch of spinal nerve is manifested by pain and weakness in the shoulder triggered by the

In considering the process of speech, you must first understand that sounds are produced by blowing air past the vocal cords. The air produces vibrations in the vocal cords, forming the sounds that come out of the mouth. The air is pushed out of the lungs by relaxing the diaphragm and contracting muscles of the abdominal wall. The abdominal muscles are supplied by the lower intercostal nerves. The tonal and pitch variations occur when the vocal cord is made more tense or looser. Tense cords produce higher pitch, loose cords form lower pitch. The muscles involved are supplied by the recurrent laryngeal and external laryngeal nerves. Also changing the vocal cords, we have the stylopharyngeus muscles that pull the pharynx and larynx upward. This serves to shorten the tubal length of the air passage between the base of the skull (body of sphenoid) and the vocal cords. As found in an organ, longer pipes are low pitch and shorter pipes are high pitch. The stylopharyngeus are supplied by the ...
Resonance is a set of music that multi-reedist and composer Ken Vandermark worked on in preparation for a concert in Ukraine where he would lead a ten member big band. He stayed in Krakow, Poland for a week beforehand, writing the music and rehearsing the band. The first eight discs in this collection feature freely improvised evening sets that followed the rehearsals at the Alchemia Club in Krakow. For Day One, Set one the group featured Tim Daisy on drums, Dave Rempis on alto saxophone, Mark Tokar on bass, on Yuriy Yaremchuk on soprano sax. This group spotlighted strong swirling saxophones, alto and soprano dueling and supporting each other in wild flights of fancy. Yaremchuk gets curling, keening tones from the soprano, while Rempis responds with deep guttural cries, strong and gutsy. The band uses a loud/soft dynamic to their advantage, using flurries of notes and well spaced swathes of music, building the music to great crescendos of sound. Day One, Set two has Yaremchuk on tenor, soprano ...

The New Forza Thumb Rest for Saxophone.. I first approached Ton Kooiman to ask if his clever clarinet thumb rests would work with the soprano saxophone. Like most soprano players I know, I have acute problems with pain in my right thumb and wrist; transferring the weight down to the joint of thumb and first finger might have been a good solution. Ton explained why this wasnt practical but that I should try his Forza Thumb rest.. I managed to fit the Forza to my Selmer MK VI tenor easily. The first thing I noticed was that it allows the thumb to lie in a natural position; at the same level as the first finger, as it would if you were holding a paper cup full of hot coffee! The thumb rest of most saxophones forces the thumb downwards. Indeed, my perceptions of most saxophone design is the tone holes must go here, here and here so we will just have to stick the thumb rest wherever there is space left for it! I bought a second Forza for my Yanagisawa curved soprano and found that I could position ...
Module: Constructing phylogenetic tree. The uniqueness of DNA (RNA) from one lineage to another allows to reconstuct the evolutionary history through a phylogenetic tree and get information on the past evolutionary processes. A phylogenetic tree constructed from sequences of human influenza virus (an epidemic simulated accross a small community) seeded in a community by an individual named -1 in the transmission network (see following image). The phylogenetic tree is composed of branches (edges) and nodes, where branches connect nodes (node: points at which two or more branches diverge). It has internal and external branches and nodes (terminal), and internal node corresponds to the hypothetical last common ancestor (LCA) of everything arising from it. Terminal nodes correspond to the sequences (DNA/RNA) from which the tree was constructed. The lengths of the branches correspond to sequence difference between the two nodes they connect. The phylogenetic tree is constructed by considering the ...
We have taken note of rising British soprano Lucy Crowe a couple times before, in her performance of the St. Matthew Passion at the Festival de Saint-Denis and at the Salzburg Festival. Although I have admired her contributions to ensemble recordings in the past, her recent Handel disc was the first solo outing that crossed my desk. It is a recording of consistent and often breath-taking beauty, with music that flatters Crowes voice in almost every way. Hers is a soprano of clarity, in its minimal vibrato reminiscent in many ways of Emma Kirkby at the height of her powers, except that Crowe is not quite as colorless. In the final slow aria of Armida abbandonata and in Lascia la spina (adapted from Lascia chio pianga for Il Trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno), for example, her voice hangs in the air like a laser, with no sense of agitation, just plangent incision. Some of the interpolated high notes in the more high-flying arias like Barbaro, tu non credi are thrilling, with everything in the ...

Sarah Manguso is a poet, and if the beautiful, terse sentences in The Two Kinds of Decay are any indication, she is a fine one. In this short, sharp memoir, Manguso describes the head cold she caught in February 1995. She was 21 years old, in college, second soprano in a choir scheduled to perform Gregorio Allegris "Miserere" on March 5, 1995. She managed to keep her cold in check until after the concert, where the choirmaster praised her work. She went home for spring break and began a nightmare of illness that would last for next nine years.. Sarah Manguso has chronic idiopathic demyelinating poliradiculoneuropathy. In laymans terms, this means her immune system secretes antibodies, which travel to the peripheral neurons, eat away the protective sheath covering the nerve cells -- myelin -- then eat the cells, which sometimes recover, sometimes not. Symptoms include numbness and tingling in the extremities, paralysis, and the inability to breathe. The treatments are as horrible as the ...
