Adult intussusception is a rare but challenging condition. Preoperative diagnosis is frequently missed or delayed because of nonspecific or sub-acute symptoms. We present the case of a sixty-two year old gentleman who initially presented with pseudo-obstruction. Computerised tomography displayed a jejuno-jejunal intussusception, which was treated by primary laparoscopic reduction. The patient re-presented with acute small bowel obstruction two weeks later. He underwent a laparotomy showing recurrent intussusception and required a small bowel resection with primary anastomosis. Histological examination of the specimen revealed that the intussusception lead point was due to an inflammatory fibroid polyp (Vaneks tumour) causing double invagination. Epidemiological and experimental studies suggest that fiber and phenolic compounds might have a protective effect on the development of colon cancer in humans. Accordingly, we assessed the chemopreventive efficacy and associated mechanisms of action of a lyophilized red grape pomace containing proanthocyanidin (PA)-rich dietary fiber [grape antioxidant dietary fiber (GADF)] on spontaneous intestinal tumorigenesis in the Apc(Min/+) mouse model. Mice were fed a standard diet (control group) or a 1% (w/w) GADF-supplemented diet (GADF group) for 6 weeks. This will be a single-center, phase-II, six-month-long, placebo-controlled, double blinded, randomized trial of the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) inhibitor, erlotinib (Tarceva) and the cyclooxygenase (COX-2) inhibitor, sulindac in patients with familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP) or attenuated FAP. FAP is an autosomal dominant inherited colon cancer predisposition with a 100% risk of colon cancer in the absence of preventive care (endoscopy and surgery). Background The aim of this study was to establish if endoscopists can reliably self-assess their ability to perform simulated colonic polypectomy. Methods Novices, intermediates, advanced, and experts performed a video-recorded polypectomy task using the Welsh Institute for Minimal Access Therapy (WIMAT) colonoscopy suitcase simulator. This involved removal of a simple polyp (A) and a complex polyp (B). Participants self-assessed themselves using a Direct Observation of Polypectomy Skills (DOPyS) assessment form. Two blinded, independent, Joint Advisory Group on Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (JAG) accredited assessors graded each performance using the same DOPyS scoring. Background & Objectives: Tubular adenomas are rare benign epithelial tumours of breast affecting predominantly females of child bearing age group. Till now, very small number of cases have been reported in the literature. Present study was carried out to evaluate the clinico-pathological features of tubular adenoma cases diagnosed during three years study period along with discussion of possible differential diagnoses. Methods: Overall, 346 female breast biopsies were diagnosed as benign lesions in three years (2010-2012), of which 10 cases of tubular adenomas were identified. Available clinical, radiological and cytological data of these cases were analysed retrospectively in detail. Result: Tubular adenomas were identified from 16 to 48 years of age with a predilection to younger age group (60% within 30 years).
