A method for remote reconstruction of a surface, in which a local system sends information on the position of a mobile element of said local system to a remote system, the mobile element of the local system replicating the position of the mobile element of the remote system, the remote system comprising a remote model of the surface, and a remote operator displaces the mobile element of the remote system, and when the mobile element of the local system comes into contact with said surface, said remote model is modified for each point of contact between the mobile element of the local system and said surface so that the remote model approximates said surface.

Hotspot2. In addition to SXT or R391-specific molecular profiles in hotspot2 loci as previously reported [23], variable gene contents in HS2 were identified in eight ICEs characterized in this study (Figure 1). Previous studies indicated that most SXT/R391 ICEs contain mosA and mosT genes in HS2, which encode a novel toxin-antitoxin pair that promotes SXT maintenance by killing or severely inhibiting the growth of cells that have lost this element [37]. However, the two genes were absent from the HS2 (1.3 kb) in six ICEs including ICEVchChn1, ICEVchChn3, ICEVchChn4, ICEVchChn5, ICEVchChn6 and ICEVpaChn1. These results are consistent with those yielded from R391 and few other ICEs [10, 37]. Nevertheless, BLAST analysis of the HS2 (GenBank: KF411056-KF411060) in these six elements revealed that they contain two homologous genes (98% amino acid identity) to those that occur in the 3′-region of the HS2 in ICEVspPor2, possibly encoding additional anti-toxin component protecting against the loss of ...
This report examines the Netherlands new Metropolitan Region of Rotterdam-The Hague (MRDH), drawing on lessons from governance reforms in other OECD countries and identifying how the MRDH experience could benefit policy makers beyond Dutch borders. Long in search of ways to strengthen urban areas, the Dutch government has recently undertaken the development of a National Urban Agenda known as Agenda Stad, in parallel to a series of broad institutional reforms. This included abolishing the countrys traditional eight city-regions, which led Rotterdam, The Hague and 21 smaller neighbouring cities to form the Metropolitan Region of Rotterdam-The Hague (Metropoolregio Rotterdam Den Haag, or MRDH). This report analyses the emergence of the MRDH both as a geographical area that spans 23 municipalities in the southern Randstad region and as a new metropolitan authority with transport and economic development responsibilities. One of the challenges the MRDH faces is how to bring the economies of ...

METHODS:. A total of 19 S. hominis isolates were collected from children at the Childrens Medical Centre, Tehran, Iran, from March 2012 to February 2013. MRSHo susceptibility against 13 antimicrobial and 3 antiseptic agents was determined using disk diffusion (DAD) and minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC), respectively. All isolates were subjected to polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assay for 15 distinct resistance genes, staphylococcal cassette chromosome mec (SCCmec), and arginine catabolic mobile elements (ACMEs). Biofilm production of the isolates was determined using a colorimetric microtiter plate assay. ...

The passing of Dr. Jerzy Jurka (Jurek to his friends) represents a heartfelt loss to his many friends in the Mobile DNA field. The whole field of Mobile DNA has lost the scientific efforts of a brilliant colleague and for many of us an esteemed friend. The accompanying biography provides an outstanding outline of his life and career, so I will focus primarily on his impact to the field of Mobile DNA.. Jureks first publication related to Mobile DNA was the discovery of an Alu element in an alpha globin gene in the late 1980s while working with Temple Smith. Jurek was one of the pioneers of well-trained bioinformatics experts to focus his expertise on mobile elements, with one of the early and important findings of subfamilies in the Alu elements. Through the years, his ability to handle large genomic datasets led him to a number of important discoveries, including a bioinformatic prediction of the target site for SINEs and LINEs, the discovery of several new families and clades of mobile ...
Researchers uncover a group of mobile genetic elements in bacteria and archaea encoding a Cas enzyme. Transposons are stretches of DNA that can hop to different sites in the genome and are commonly found in many types of organisms. In a study published in BMC Biology, researchers described a new type of transposon-like element in bacteria and archaea that encodes a Cas enzyme-well appreciated for its role in the CRISPR/Cas adaptive immune system in prokaryotes-which it in turn requires for integrating into a new genomic home ...
Hi I am trying to get section elements to appear under each other on mobiles but cant seem to do it, all I can think is because its using position: relative and got padding I did adjust the padding to 2200px but then the next section element did not appear for miles down the screen on mobile, is there a way so that when one section ends, the next section elements appears directly under the above section element with maybe a little gap of 10px for example Thank you in advance

Bacteria are everywhere simply because they can colonize and adapt to different ecological niches in a very short-term period. One important molecular mechanism underlying the abilities of bacteria to colonize new niches is the acquisition of novel traits by conjugative DNA transfer. Under these circumstances, the so-called variable genome (as opposed to the core genome), which encodes an array of accessory functions (such as antibiotic resistance, specific degradation pathways, symbiosis, and virulence, to name a few), is freely exchanged among bacteria ( 1 ). These newly acquired DNA pieces are represented by intra- or extrachromosomal elements, which may or may not have self-replication and/or auto-transferable capacities. However, all of them participate in the fitness of the bacteria to colonize and to adapt to new niches; thus, they contribute to create new evolutionary patterns ( 2 ). Mobile genetic elements (MGEs) constitute a reservoir of DNA that is shared among bacterial species ( 3 ), and
