Description: The PROMIS Emotional Distress-Anxiety 8A short form is an 8 statement survey that measures how much emotional distress, specifically due to anxiety, a respondent has experienced over the past 7 days. It utilizes a scale of 1 (never) to 5 (always) for all the statements. The scores for all 8 statements are summed and then matched to a corresponding t-score for the instrument. The corresponding t-score is the final, reportable score and can range from 37.1 to 83.1 for the PROMIS Emotional Distress-Anxiety 8A instrument. Higher t-score values represent worse anxiety caused emotional distress outcomes. More information on this instrument, including a scoring manual, can be found at http://www.healthmeasures.net. Measure: Change in reported emotional distress (anxiety) score. To identify potential health outcome and corresponding outcome measures as well as case-mix variables for risk adjustment, the PT reviewed the literature and more than 4000 registered paediatric clinical trials registered in the clinical trial database (www.clinicaltrials.gov) (online supplemental eFigure 1), 12 paediatric health surveys, and the Patient-Reported Outcome Measurement Information System (PROMIS) for outcome measures used in the paediatric population. The literature review was performed in March 2018 comprising 1136 articles with 580 reviews (figure 1) (online supplemental eTable 2). First, health outcomes were identified by categorising the extracted measures from literature according to the topic/health outcome that they were considered to measure, for example, quality of life, development, mental health and communication (online supplemental eTable 3). Overall, a total of 63 health outcomes (partly overlapping) were identified (online supplemental eFigure 2 and eTables 4-7). ...
A collaborative project led by Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) brought together various Immunization Information Systems (IIS) to create promising practices for consumer access to data in IIS. This multi-state IIS effort was supported by MN as part of HIE Cooperative Agreement Program funds and led by ONC. The project deliverables are available as guidance for interested stakeholders. Two practical guides which focus on consumer access to IIS via IIS portal and via EHRs and PHRs were created as part of this collaboration. The project management report presents details on project stakeholders and process. A synthesis of work document which presents details on work done earlier and provided good information for this collaborative project to build upon is also available. Cross-jurisdictional data sharing requires the application of varying, and sometimes conflicting local, state and federal laws. These laws often present barriers and prevent the efficient and effective use of data to tackle important public health challenges. A national IIS cross-jurisdictional data-sharing memorandum of understanding (MOU) has been developed to help address these challenges and will be piloted in six states.

Author(s): Balke, Wolf-Tilo; Guentzer, Ulrich; Zheng, Jason Xin | Abstract: Though skyline queries already have claimed their place in retrieval over central databases, their application in Web information systems up to now was impossible due to the distributed aspect of retrieval over Web sources. But due to the amount, variety and volatile nature of information accessible over the Internet extended query capabilities are crucial. We show how to efficiently perform distributed skyline queries and thus essentially extend the expressiveness of querying todays Web information systems. Together with our innovative retrieval algorithm we also present useful heuristics to further speed up the retrieval in most practical cases paving the road towards meeting even the real-time challenges of on-line information services. We discuss performance evaluations and point to open problems in the concept and application of skylining in modem information systems. For the curse of dimensionality, an intrinsic problem

About one-fifth, 20.3%, exhibited symptoms of combat-related PTSD at six months, and 22.8% endorsed symptoms of cancer-related PTSD, exceeding a clinical cutoff for older adults.. Changes over time were observed for cancer-related PTSD symptom clusters of hyperarousal (F = 3.85 and p = 0.023) and emotional numbing (F = 4.06 and p = 0.018) with a statistically significant quadratic function increasing at 18 months, the authors ...
The distinctive quality of the new social structure is that information becomes the only factor of production. In todays organizations, public administrators are directly responsible for applying information to administrative processes. In addition to his managerial responsibilities, a knowledge based organization requires every employee to take responsibility for achieving efficiency. This has increased the importance of information systems in the decision-making process. Information systems consist of computer and communication technology, data base management and model management and include activity processing system, management information system, decision support systems, senior management information system, expert systems and office automation systems. Information systems in the health sector aim at the management and provision of preventive and curative health services. The use of information systems in healthcare has the benefits of increasing service quality, shortening treatment ...
A method and system for allowing a calling party to save information obtained from an information retrieval system. The caller may select options to save the information to a memory location, e.g., the callers own network-based voice mail system or a temporary voice mailbox provided for the caller by the information provider, from which the caller can subsequently retrieve and review the information. The information may be saved to an Internet-based website from which the caller may subsequently retrieve the information. The information may be forwarded to a separate telephone directory number for receipt by a third person or for storing on a remote voice mail system. Additionally, the information may be electronically mailed to the callers electronic mail address for subsequent retrieval. Discussions with a live attendant may be recorded and stored, as audio files or as converted to text, for access by or delivery to the caller.

A system and method for content-based search and retrieval of visual objects. A base visual information retrieval (VIR) engine utilizes a set of universal primitives to operate on the visual objects. An extensible VIR engine allows custom, modular primitives to be defined and registered. A custom primitive addresses domain specific problems and can utilize any image understanding technique. Object attributes can be extracted over the entire image or over only a portion of the object. A schema is defined as a specific collection of primitives. A specific schema implies a specific set of visual features to be processed and a corresponding feature vector to be used for content-based similarity scoring. A primitive registration interface registers custom primitives and facilitates storing of an analysis function and a comparison function to a schema table. A heterogeneous comparison allows objects analyzed by different schemas to be compared if at least one primitive is in common between the schemas. A

Over 100 million Americans suffer from chronic pain resulting in annual cost of roughly $635 billion. Limited treatments are available for this widespread disease. The data supporting these treatments lack generalizability to patients with more serious medical and psychological comorbidities who are often excluded from explanatory efficacy trials. Our work aims to integrate randomized comparative effectiveness research with patient care. The investigators will randomize the patients and collect data using an open-source learning healthcare system already in use in our department to monitor patients progress: Collaborative Health Outcomes Information Registry (CHOIR). Collaborative Health Outcomes Information Registry uses the National Institute of Health Patient Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System item banks for comparative metrics through computer adaptive testing. The goal of Boston Community Information System Project is to explore new information system technologies that can provide sophisticated new services to entire metropolitan areas at moderate cost. The Boston Community Information System (BCIS) is a polychannel system that combines digital broadcast and duplex communication in a single integrated framework. Data from an experimental test of the BCIS system in 200 Boston area homes and businesses have shown that the Boston Community Information System provides a valuable and useful service. We present and discuss all of the data from the experimental test of the BCIS system in Boston area homes and offices from February 1987 to April 1988. The test began in February 1986, and the period from February 1986 to January 1987 is covered in MIT/LCS/TR-397. We also present data drawn from a second system that we have built called the Clipping Service. The Clipping Service provides a personalized information service to users around the world via electronic mail.
