Due to the strained financial situation in the healthcare sector, hospitals and other healthcare providers are facing an increasing pressure to improve their efficiency and to reduce costs. These trends challenge health care organizations to introduce innovative information technology (IT) based supportive processes. To guarantee that IT supports the clinical processes perfectly, IT must be managed proactively. However, until now, there is only very few research on IT service management especially on ITIL® implementations in the health care context. The current study aims at exploring knowledge about and acceptance of IT service management (especially ITIL®) in hospitals in Austria and its neighboring regions Bavaria (Germany), Slovakia, South Tyrol (Italy) and Switzerland. Therefore highly standardized interviews with the respective head of information technology (CIO, IT manager) were conducted for selected hospitals from the different regions. In total 75 hospitals were interviewed. Data gathered

Quality of life is a subjective indicator for evaluations in the physiology, psychology and social dimensions which is widely applied in clinical and health service management [7, 11]. The aim of our study was to evaluate the effect of comprehensive intervention on HRQOL in patients with chronic hepatitis B. After the implementation of the comprehensive intervention in the major model regions for infectious disease prevention and control in Jiangsu Province, China, for 1 year, there were improvements in HRQOL. Although the SF-36 scores for PF, RP, GH, and RE did not improved significantly, the scores for BP, VT, SF, MH, PCS and MCS improved significantly after intervention. In the HBV-specific health survey, family and social support was increased, and concerns over economic status were significantly reduced ...

Conclusion and Future Directions: CDC Health Disparities and Inequalities Report - United States, 2013Conclusion and Future Directions: CDC Health Disparities and Inequalities Report - United States, 2013
A persistent barrier to documenting health disparities is the lack of data on certain population characteristics. All of the reports in this supplement (n=29) examined differences by race/ethnicity. The next most frequent population characteristics that were examined were age (n=24), sex (n=24), education (n=17), poverty (n=14), place of birth (n=11), and disability (n=nine). The least frequently reported characteristics were the language spoken at home (n=four) and sexual orientation (n=one). Only the paper on HIV infection reported rates by sexual orientation. Some data sources used in this report have very limited information on social and demographic characteristics. For example, death certificates do not have information on sexual orientation, poverty level, or disability (4). Some national health surveys have begun to collect data on sexual orientation, but there are issues that affect the usability of this data. In many instances, the sample sizes are too small to provide meaningful ...

One of the most valuable services health information exchanges are providing involves the acronym ADT, which stands for "admission, discharge and transfer" summaries. Providing physicians information when their patients have significant hospital events allows for faster follow-up care. A big first for HIEs is now taking place on the Delmarva Peninsula with ADT summaries being shared across state lines.. The Delaware Health Information Network (DHIN) and Marylands CRISP (the Chesapeake Regional Information System for Our Patients) are now exchanging ADT summaries.. According to an item on the DHIN web site, Delaware residents who are patients at three hospital systems in Maryland - Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, the University of Maryland Medical System hospitals on the Eastern Shore and Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury - will have ADT summaries sent to their doctors in Delaware. The remaining 41 Maryland hospitals will be added to the system in the coming months.. Notifications for ...

The asymmetry of information brings difficulty for government to manage public hospitals. Therefore, Jiading District of Shanghai has been establishing DRGs-based inpatient service management system (ISMS) to effectively compare the output of different hospitals through DRGs, reward desired hospital performance and enhance inpatient service capacity. However, the impact of the implementation of DRGs-based inpatient service management (ISM) policy in Jiading district is still unknow. We therefore conducted this study to evaluate the impact of DRGs-based ISM policy on the performance of inpatient service since its implementation in Jiading District, Shanghai, China in 2017. Using an interrupted time series design, we analyzed quarterly data of seven DRGs-based performance measures from the ISMS which covered all five public hospitals in Jiading District from 2013 to 2019. We utilized the segmented linear regression model to assess the change of level and trend of performance indicators before and after

The Queuing Manpower Model (QMAN).The Queuing Manpower Model (QMAN).
The Queuing Manpower Model (QMAN) is an analytic personal computer (PC) based model for the determination of maintenance manpower requirements. The model applies a queuing algorithm to Air Force Specialty (AFS)/crew size clusters to determine necessary manning to meet flying demands. This value is then compared to work load and crew size manpower demands to determine actual requirements. The Turbo Pascal implementation of QMAN provides rapid manpower estimations that compare favorably with the Air Force standard maintenance manpower model, the Logistics Composite Model (LCOM). The inherent speed of an analytic model, such as QMAN, contrasts with the lengthy run-times required by large and complicated Monte Carlo simulations like LCOM. These lengthy run-times lead to lengthy analysis due to the need for multiple simulation runs before optimal manpower requirements can be determined. QMAN makes possible various types of analyses that were not previously feasible due to LCOM time demands. Examples of

But there appears to be a significant gap between what people say theyre willing to do and what they actually do, which needs further investigation.. "Lack of uptake is a big problem because such systems need more than half - 56% - of the general population on board to be effective in helping control a pandemic.. "As of the end of last month, nearly 21 million people in the UK had downloaded the (NHS Test and Trace) app, which is more than 10 million below target for it to work properly.. "There could be many reasons for this, which could be technological barriers, confusion, or simply lack of awareness..
