A previous Croakey post put a strong case that mandatory bicycle helmet laws are having a detrimental effect on public health.. Now a leading public health and cycling advocate, Clinical Associate Professor Chris Rissel from the University of Sydney, has weighed in to the debate - suggesting that the laws are "failed public policy".. He writes:. "I agree with Sue Abbott that the legislation for mandatory bike helmets is failed public policy.. There is little evidence to support the view that there was a drop in head injuries as a result of the helmet legislation. Any observation of the head injury rate since 1950 shows that this declining in New South Wales BEFORE the introduction of mandatory helmet legislation, and certainly before the self-reported level of helmet use increased. This is consistent with the general decline in motor vehicle related fatalities and morbidity in NSW from 1950 to the present, but in particular between 1980 and 1990.. It is most likely that a series of changes in ...
Objective Helmet use in Dutch recreational skiers and snowboarders (DRSS) remains low. This study evaluated the effects of exposure to a nationwide intervention on relevant determinants of helmet use and helmet use in DRSS. Methods The intervention mapping protocol was used to develop an in-season intervention programme targeted at adult DRSS. A prospective single-cohort study was conducted to evaluate the impact of intervention exposure on determinants of helmet use (ie, knowledge about head injury risk and preventive measures, risk perception, attitudes to head injury risk and helmet use and intention to helmet use) and self-reported helmet use. A random sample of 363 DRSS from an existing panel participated in this study. Data were collected using online questionnaires before and immediately after the 2010/2011 intervention season. In a separate sample of 363 DRSS, intervention reach was assessed after the 2010/2011 season. Results Overall, no significant associations were found between ...

Children and adolescents aged 20 years and younger comprise more than half of the estimated 85 million bicycle riders in the U.S. It has been long-known that bicycle-related injuries result in more emergency department visits for children than any other recreational sport. However, this study looks beyond emergency department visits to examine hospitalizations, and estimates that approximately 10,700 children are hospitalized annually for a bicycle-related injury in the U.S. with an average length of stay of three days. "Bicycles are associated with more childhood injuries than any other consumer product except the automobile," said Gary Smith, MD, DrPH, director of the Center for Injury Research and Policy, faculty member at The Ohio State University College of Medicine, and one of the study authors. "The high rate of hospitalization and use of healthcare resources identified in our study supports the need for increased attention to bicycle-related injuries.". This study is the first of its ...
Study author Colin Clarke says he set out to assess New Zealands mandatory helmet laws and came to his conclusion by pooling injury and behavioural data from various sources.. But correlation does not imply causation - and this is one reason Clarkes analysis falls down.. Randomised controlled trials (RCT) are the gold standard when trying to establish a causal link between factor A and outcome B. However, not every potential causal link can be studied this way.. In Clarkes analysis, enacting a mandatory helmet law is factor A and negative events such as premature deaths constitute outcome B. But his paper fails to meet any of the necessary criteria to establish a causal relationship. This generally requires at least four stages of analysis:. 1) strength of relationship 2) correct temporal ordering 3) presence of dose response 4) elimination of potential confounders.. Lets see how Clarkes analysis shapes up against this criteria.. 1) Strength of relationship. The first step in establishing a ...

It is estimated that over 44.3 million children and youth ride bicycles in the United States. Bicycles result in more childhood injuries than any other consumer product except automobiles. Children between the ages of 5 and 14 are at the highest risk for bicycle injury. These injuries are usually caused by collision with a fixed or moving object or a fall. Children between 10 and 15 years old have the highest rate of death. Traumatic brain injury is the leading cause of death and disability in bicycle crashes, but also injuries to the musculoskeletal system and internal organs can lead to death.. Bicycle helmets are the single most effective way for preventing significant bicycle injuries. It is estimated that wearing a helmet can reduce the risk of head and brain injuries by 63 to 88 percent and facial injuries by 65 percent.. The United States consumer product safety commission (CPSC) has established federal safety standards for all bicycle helmets sold in the United States. Helmets that meet ...
Dannenberg: Legislation are laws, and they vary from country to country or state to state in the USA.. Aim: Investigate the impact of passing a law for children to wear bicycle helmets.. Method & Procedure: Lab experiment; independent measures design; 7000+ children; from 3 counties in the USA; sent questionnaires regarding bicycle helmet use. County 1 = Helmets were compulsory and an educational campaign was given; County 2 = There was an educational campaign but no change in Law; County 3 = Minimal education about helmets and no change in Law. Results: County 1 = 11% to 37% increase; County 2 = 8% to 13% increase; County 3 = 7% to 11% increase. Conclusion: Having a change in legislation and having an educational campagin had a larger effect showing that having legislation can make a difference.. ...

The HensonFuerst Bicycle Safety PSA Contest is back-and better than ever! The members of the law firm are again challenging North Carolina students to use their imaginations and create videos about the importance of bicycle safety. And for the first time, a second age category is being added to the contest. In addition to the contest for students in grades 9 to 12, a second contest welcomes students in grades 6 to 8.. Last years winner, Terrell Grice, received a Mac laptop for his outstanding entry and donated it to his video production class, known as The TAG Crew, at Douglas Byrd High School in Fayetteville. "Weve been using the laptop for more videos, public service announcements, educational bits, and more," said Grice, who hopes to attend the New York Film Academy and to someday produce feature-length films.. More Categories and New Rules. This year, the contest is expanding to include two age categories: grades 6 to 8 and grades 9 to 12.. Students who want to enter a public service ...

Downloadable (with restrictions)! Road traffic accident fatalities lead to important private and social costs in the metropolitan areas of most low and middle income countries. An important share of these fatalities is due to injuries to the head and the neck. Helmets can provide efficient protection, but many drivers do not use them. We focus on helmet use behavior among motorbike users in Delhi. We use a detailed data set collected for the purpose of the study. To guide our empirical analysis, we rely on a model in which drivers decide on self-protection and self-insurance. The empirical findings suggest that risk-averse drivers are more likely to wear a helmet and that this has no systematic effect on speed. Helmet use also increases with education. Drivers who show a higher awareness of road risks seem to be both more likely to wear a helmet and to speed less. Controlling for risk awareness, we observe that drivers tend to compensate between speed and helmet use. The results can provide a basis for

It s really easy to make the safest helmet on the planet, just add ten centimeters or why not fifty centimeters of foam to the helmet problem is no one would buy it. Therefore, any helmet is a compromise between function and esthetics. Luckily, there are certifications that state the minimum performance for a helmet, so any helmet on the market will at least perform this well. However, as we know that many crashes involve forces way higher than the certifications state, and the more we look into the levels of our pro athletes, the more horrified we get over the incredible forces in some high speed crashes. This is why we make sure that we have a big margin to the allowed levels on all our helmet. Once we have managed to reach a satisfactory level of shock absorption we can focus on other important features. On some helmets we add further protective features, on others we focus on increasing ventilation or decrease weight ...
Editor,-Several case-control studies have estimated the association between wearing of a bicycle helmet and head injury due to a bicycle crash.1 Hagel and Boivin recently argued that these studies do not need the rare disease assumption in order for us to accept the odds ratio as an estimate of the incidence rate ratio.2 In support of their argument, Hagel and Boivin described a hypothetical case-control study in which the study population is thought of as people riding bicycles.2 The cases were those who had a head injury after a crash. The controls were randomly sampled from all bicycle riders, regardless of whether or not they had just crashed. Such a study would seek to answer this question: if two bicycle riders, one helmeted and one not, set out on a ride, which is more likely to sustain a head injury? We agree with the contention of Hagel and Boivin that the odds ratio from such a study would estimate the incidence rate ratio, even if it were common for bicyclists to crash and sustain ...

This study provides important information on the circumstances of bicycle crashes and the resultant injuries. The spectrum of these injuries treated in hospital emergency departments is broad, and includes a large number of relatively minor contusions and abrasions, but, in addition, a substantial number of more severe injuries (6.8% with ISS,8) resulting in hospitalization or death. The most important predictors of injury severity appear to be motor vehicle involvement and self reported speed at the time of the crash while, as expected, the most important predictor of hospital admission, was injury severity. For fatal injuries, lack of use of a bicycle helmet or involvement with a motor vehicle in the crash were each associated with a 14-fold increase in fatality rate. However, helmet use was not associated with injury severity.. These data were based on a combination of self report by patients or parents and data abstracted from medical records. Self reported estimated speed, particularly when ...

[email protected] For Immediate Release. Murray, Utah, May 11, 2015 - Consumer Reports just released a new study that confirms what the Brain Injury Alliance of Utah has been sharing for years: Wearing a bicycle helmet will protect your brain in the event of an accident or fall, and possibly save your life.. According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, 87% of people killed nationally in a bicycle accident in the past twenty years were NOT wearing a helmet. In Utah, bike accidents are the third leading cause of traumatic brain injury resulting in over 1,400 hospital visits or deaths per year.. George Gehling, Executive Director at the Brain Injury Alliance of Utah shares the importance of making a small investment into the safety of your brain, "With summer fast approaching, more and more people will be riding their bikes out and about, it makes it more important that we use bike helmets." You dont need to trade your hypothetical arms and legs in exchange for a good helmet. BIAU ...
Pretty big assumption. Id assume that with facial injuries a helmet would have been a non factor,. The report just released by the JAMA (thats made the news rounds for the last two weeks) states that only 16% of bicycle injuries are head injuries.. There were just over 15,000 bicycle hospitalizations (ages 18+)in 2012/2013 so roughly 2400 head injuries for those two years (ie 1200 a year).. There is no differentiation of facial (helmet wont help) and skull injuries in the study. But considering in most situations with a bicycle incident you are more likely to face plant than land on the top or back of your head, its pretty safe to assume that the helmet will only be a factor in at best (being pretty generous here) 600 bicycle injury incidents a year.. Now consider that the most recent and likely effectiveness rate (done by averaging the results of the most reliable studies on helmet effectiveness) put the effectiveness rate of helmets reducing injury by 0-25% (pretty wide margin eh…this ...

Bicycle riders without a helmet are almost six times more likely to suffer a severe head injury than a helmeted rider, a new Australian study shows.
By Lori Buher I have a confession to make. I was not a helmet mom. Twenty years ago, when our three children were small, I did not enforce the bicycle helmet rule. In my defense, we lived in a small town; dirt roads, light traffic, country life. I just didnt see the need for helmets. …
For years Ive ridden my bike to work without a helmet, which seemed especially dumb since "20/20"s offices are in New York City.. This year Ive started wearing a helmet. I wasnt forced to. Unlike other places, New York has no law requiring adults to wear one. But my friends talked me into it, and I was surprised -- todays helmets are better; theyre comfortable.. I feel much safer now, but its not clear that I am safer.. Ian Walker, a human-behavior researcher at the University of Bath in England, put a sensor and camera on his bike and rode for miles with and without a helmet. His data showed that when he wore the helmet, 23 percent more cars came within three feet of him.. "[The drivers are] saying, He knows what hes doing. When they see a cyclist who has all the gear, they think its a sign of someone whos experienced and skillful," Walker surmises.. Biking is obviously less safe if cars are closer. Walker says theres another unintended consequence of helmet laws.. "Parts of ...
Wearing helmets while riding a boda boda (a motorcycle named because it used to rocket from border to border) would do much to prevent head injuries after collisions. Heres some bkgd on the issue. Helmet laws are fairly easy to enforce. Tickets, fines, confiscations all do the job. But, health behaviors are really hard. Convincing people to break out of their habits is one of the toughest jobs I know. Women object because it messes their hair. Helmets heavy and bulky when youre walking around during the day. Helmets arent free, and Ugandans arent rich. Excuses all, but just one more challenge for health educators. I heard a rumor that the president stepped in and halted the program, that it oppressed his people ...

Thats the size of the red bike helmet with pink tiger stripes. It arrived in the mail for my daughter. (Not for me! I would have picked butterflies.). The size? Ill say it again. Youth!. With an exclamation point. As in, "Daggone" or "Are you kidding me?!?". Because thats the way it made me feel when I read it.. More like, Youch!. The old bike helmet had started fitting her like a Yamaka. Like one of those silly, undersized hats that monkeys sometimes wear.. I had tried to loosen up the plastic strapping and press it down hard on her head. "Suck in your breath!" I told her. "I think we can squeeze it on if I get the rubber mallet.". But the "child" size helmet, which had long ago replaced the "toddler" size helmet, was done.. We stared at each other in disbelief.. What did this mean?. Certainly not that my darling baby girl had become a "youth." Could a bike helmet really be the arbiter of that?. We both cried. I cursed the world.. Heres Merriam-Websters definition of youth: "The time of ...

Wear a helmet. A properly fitted helmet helps to protect the head by absorbing the force from a crash or a fall, decreasing the risk of serious head injury by as much as 80 per cent.1, 2 This means that four out of five head injuries could be prevented if every cyclist wore a helmet. There is a public perception that helmets may not provide protection in crashes that involve motor vehicles, but helmets have been proven effective in preventing head injury from all types of falls and crashes.1. Keep children under 10 years of age off the road. Riding a bicycle near motor vehicles requires a complex set of skills that children develop gradually between 10 and 14 years of age. They must be able to balance their bike and signal while simultaneously paying attention to vehicles. A childs brain cannot manage this combination of physical and cognitive skills before 10 years of age, at the earliest. The ability to juggle these tasks around traffic may be further challenged in high-risk ...
I was particularly rattled by the incorrect Roads & Traffic Authoritys (RTAs) now Roads & Maritime Services (RMS) traffic record supplied to the police. Outrageously my first bicycle helmet matter way back in 2009 had been recorded as me riding alone on a motor-bike without a helmet!!! For the record, I HAVE NEVER BEEN THE DRIVER/RIDER ON A MOTOR-BIKE! Such details are important as they have a bearing on your reputation particularly at the sentencing stage of defended hearings. Riding a motor bike without a helmet is a matter that is recorded on your traffic record; riding a bicycle without a helmet is a matter that is not. Was this done on purpose so that my traffic record would look more substantially naughty? But what I really want to know is how does a large government funded body such as the RMS with considerable and immense resources at their fingertips get this so wrong ...

We have stated many times that Day Parker was a bicycle rider, and that he could ride quite cleverly, for a boy. We have been told by some that we were "talking through our headgear," or words to that effect, but the race at the Central Point fairgrounds last Friday proved beyond any reasonable grounds for doubt that we were talking good sense when we claimed for Mr. Parker [to be] a bicycle rider of no mean repute. This race was between Parker and Proebstel, a reported crack wheelman from Portland, but he was so easily done up that the prefix "crack" had been dropped from his cognomen. However, he is a very good rider, is fairly well muscled, and did good work, but Parker has better wind, is better muscled and is quicker motioned. The three heats rode were made in 2:39½, 2:40¼ and 3:04. This is a very slow time for bicyclists but the track is said to be a slow one, much of the distance being uphill and sandy. Mr. Parker has made a half mile on this track in 1:09½. The result of this race ...

A while ago I saw on tv a dirt biker with a fake mohawk attached to his helmit. Later in the show, the biker took off the helmet, to my surprise, he had a mohawk-- only it was compressed... To me this seems as logical as wearing two pairs of shoes. Why not design a helmet for off road biking that allows your hair to fit through the helmit? Shouldnt be too much of a problem, many off-road helmets already have gaps between the foam like substance that absorbs impact-- all we need to do cut out a little plastic.. I think that after a little bit of experimentation, we will find a helmet that will not break in half ect. to any greater extent with some of the outer shell missing in these places. Speeds arent great enough to blow hair over if correct gel is used.. Another important point is that the foam like material is carefully placed as to reduce pressure points, so that must also be taken into account.. Havent found any existing mohawk helmets. Sun hat version coming soon ...

If you look at actual testing which is specified in standard for bike helmets... 1.2m fall onto a hemisphere. 2m fall onto a flat anvil. No tests whatsoever for sliding impacts, rotational brain injury (which is extremely dangerous), neck injury, or anything of this sort. Not to mention unrealistically rigid models of head. For all the standard cares, you can produce bike helmet which simply shatters into pieces at >2m fall speeds, which cracks into pieces when deformed even half as much as head could be deformed without serious damage (youd be surprised, but bones are quite elastic), with high friction outer lining, so that in a sliding impact it gets you the worst rotational brain injury possible. And you could still legally sell this shit as "bicycle helmet ...

A hit-and-run driver remains at large after an accident that sent a teenage bicyclist to a hospital with facial cuts and a possible concussion, Pittsburgh police say.
A bicyclist was killed Wednesday night in a hit-and-run crash in East Oakland, police said. A driver hit the bicyclist on the 8100 block of International Boulevard near 81st Avenue around 9:35 p.m., said police spokesman Officer J. Moore. The bicyclist, a man whose name has not been released, died at the scene. The driver sped away west on International and has not been found. Police described the car only as a dark sedan.

The good news from this study? In a bicycle accident you are more than 50% less likely to sustain a TBI, 44% less likely to die and 31% less likely sustain a facial fracture if you are wearing a helmet (Insider Note: Ask Ben Roethlisberger to describe the pain of a facial fracture).. The bad news? Despite the good news only 25% of bicyclists wear helmets. In ten years nothing has changed.. Does this have anything to do with workers compensation? According to Bureau of Labor Statistics data, if youre one of the more than 73,000 bicycle messengers and couriers in the U.S. it might. And if youre one of the more than 12,000 that navigate streets in southern California or one of the more than 5,000 that zip through Midtown Manhattan, or one of the 1,400 dodging traffic in Chicagos Loop it might. Because, while all states require employers to provide helmets to their bicyclist employees, and while most states require employers to provide training that includes the benefits of helmets, no state ...
After riding in this helmet for several months I can say it feels like the least helmet Ive ever worn. It weighs a mere 207g (again, I wear a small); thats only 26g more than the Prolight, so yet another way it didnt just split the difference is in weight. Perhaps a better way to describe the Aeon is to call it the best of both worlds.. Its also, to me at least, the best-looking helmet Ive seen or worn since the Pneumo. Key in this regard is that the helmet cant position too much mass above the top of the head. The helmets with the best visual proportions have been those that minimized the amount of helmet above the head and instead concentrated more mass around the head. Visually, the effect is exactly the opposite of a stocking cap.. Part of the key to the Aeons ventilation has less to do with the number and size of holes in the helmet than it does the amount of helmet that actually contacts the head. Look inside the helmet and there arent many pads and the pads that do exist dont ...

A nationally known bicycle safety advocate is riding his bike through St. Lucie County and is struck from behind by a motorist who admits he was distracted. The bicyclist survives but suffers a broken bone in his neck and other injuries -- saved only by a helmet that was crushed between his skull and windshield but provided sufficient protection to prevent a devastating, or possibly fatal, brain injury. And yet, authorities decide this is not worthy of ticketing the motorist, as if momentary inattention somehow does not equate evidence of negligence ...

I know what all of these are (or will be, shortly): heavily discounted.. #1 Ive turned every which way looking at this (within reason), with no result. The wreckorator obviously had something specific in mind, but I cant get past the CCC factor. Patooie.. #2 A bicycle helmet for people who arent really that concerned about safety? [The] hat is off to Dad.. #3 An awareness ribbon works for me, though I keep trying to see a horse collar, too. There ought to be an awareness-of-what-you-are-doing ribbon for wreckorators.. #4 Adding the fishing pole after Happy Fathars Day shows planning and stuff. Along with all the other, er, touches to make sure no one misses the reference. The customer wanted a seahorse included, because the daddy seahorse is the one who gives birth and that says something completely incomprehensible about dads in general. Only the wreckorator has never seen a seahorse and so went all literal on us.. #5 At first, I was thrown off by the Python reference. So I set that ...

EDITOR,--I and my colleagues generally agree with Patricia Priests criticism and comments. Our discussion particularly aimed to emphasise the potential inadequacies of the case-control design, and we were careful to suggest that results from our study cannot stand alone and that a cause and effect relation might be suggested only by large population based cohort studies. By high compliance with helmet wearing we meant levels similar to those quoted in our results, with about half the population wearing helmets, to ensure adequate … ...
To accommodate the selfie-obsessed culture, Airwheel installs a camera in Airwheel C5 smart helmets. It is a benefit to install the camera in the helmet. Typically we take our camera by hand. It is not at all to avoid vibration. The vibration will have a serious influence on photography. In the helmet, the camera will be less prone to vibration. It creates a good environment of taking photos. When the rider steers Airwheel intelligent self-balancing scooter, he could feely take photos of surrounding scenery. ...

Bo knew what he was doing. There is a mental aspect to any game that goes beyond knowing how to play it and having physical skills. The stickers serve two purposes:. Lining up against a guy in a winged helmet covered with stickers could be all the more intimidating. It is not so much for player pride, but to get the opponent thinking.. It also serves as inspiration to the younger players who havent got as much game time to work that much harder on the field.. So I dont care how the helmet looks. If the team wins, the helmet looks good.. Edit: This is a bit OT, but I want to add that Hokes got the new commits excited; how cool is it that the guys who went to the Columbus football camp wore M hats? And in the words of one, wanted to represent our school! Our school! These are guys who havent spent a day on campus as students, yet theyre already imbued with Team!. ...
Helmet hitboxes Some zombies in ZMBE 2.0 wear protective armor in form of vests and/or helmets. The usual method for that in every HL2-based game is to have one hitbox for the head which also acts as the helmet hitbox for the purpose of hitlocation...
There you have it, a very unusual looking helmet that does an unusually good job of protecting the head of the wearer. And if this detailed exploration isnt convincing enough of the efficacy of this helmet, theres always that old adage: "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery". To that end, next Monday Ill showcase the Spanish leather tankmans helmet, the ersatz version of the Italian M35. And believe me, in my side by side comparison youll see that the Spanish version is the poor cousin to the Italian ...

I bought this for my daughters tenth birthday. The shipping was really fast. It took me only about 20 minutes to put it together. It comes almost completely assembled. The box was huge and it had the picture of the scooter on the box, so you dont want it left on your doorstep. We charged the battery overnight and she started riding the very next day. We havent had any problems with the battery staying charged. She loves to ride it in front of our house, but it definately slows down when pulling a hill. She weighs about 75 lbs. 15 mph is plenty fast for this little thing. I dont think Id let her on it if it went any faster. You will probably want to adjust the brakes because they are very touchy at first. And it shouldnt be left outside. I only wish it had a horn on it. I am probably going to buy one and put it on. Pads and a helmet are a must. Weve had it for almost a month now and even though it is freezing cold here right now, my daughter insists on riding it every day. She agrees it is ...
A South Africa fan holds a makarapa helmet at the Opening Ceremony. The hard hat is a common piece of headgear for sports fans in South Africa.
Interesting piece on cycle helmets. Regarding force and velocity, isnt the velocity (and mass) of the cars, trucks and buses that might hit you more relevant than your own velocity as you cycle?. Do you have local figures on cycling? I remember when the cycle-helmet law came in, and my purely-anecdotal feeling is that there are a lot more cyclists on the roads here in Chch now than there were in the late 80s and early 90s.. I read somewhere that the more safety features a car has, the more recklessly people are prepared to drive it.. However, I will sure as hell be always wearing my helmet, law or no law. I well remember the time I lent my bike to a friend and couldnt immediately find my helmet, and she said, dont worry Ill be fine, and I said no, no, Ill find it; I did find it and she put it on, and five minutes down the road she was hit by a car pulling out, and hit the road with her head. She was badly concussed, but without the helmet it would have been a lot worse.. Helmet-hair is ...

There`s a simple axiom among bicycle riders that Megan Griffin and a few others forgot when they signed up for this weekend`s 90-mile ride from Libertyville to Lake Geneva, Wis. and back.It goes
On the April 26, 2005, I had a riding accident that changed my life. Luckily I was wearing a helmet. I had taken a trail ride on a Thoroughbred named Arion; I was planning on buying her. She was awesome in the ring, but I soon found out how she was on the trails. She reared the entire way out to the trail, but once I got her there she was fine. On the way back, she repeatedly reared again. I was so used to naughty horses; I didnt take it as much of a threat. When we were about 25 feet from the barn, Arion had enough. She stopped and sprung all her weight up and back. She crushed me between her body and the ground. I spent a month in ICU with two fractured thoracic vertabrae, fractured ribs, a deflated lung and a ruptured spleen. I am able to walk and ride, but I still have spine problems. If I wasnt wearing a helmet, it would have been another reason for me not to be alive. I still wonder if wearing a safety vest would have saved my spleen, ribs and lungs. My doctors and surgeons said I ...
Extreme Safetys range of helmets with face shields provide extra protection for workers especially those in the electrical industry.
Speaking of my ass, my badonk took the brunt of this fall. And my head. Alas, poor new OneK, I barely knew you. Ive got a cheaper helmet on order and Im going to see if I can replace the OneK at the discounted price... again. Im still within the three years of the original purchase, but I dont want to abuse the system. It did allow me an opportunity to explain to trail buddy why helmets should be replaced after a fall, especially a fall that leaves you on your knees in the dirt, swaying to the rhythm of your "oh shit"s. I should be better at this by now ...
Depending on the terrain, distance or physical condition of the rider, riding bicycle can be heavy going. In this case electrical bikes are the ideal solution as it neutralizes headwinds and uphill roads, permitting the rider to go a longer distance in less time with a moderate physical exercise.. You can rent electrical bikes in the Spa Natura for a single day or a week at competitive prices. We have electrical bikes with infant seats.. Bicycles are 100% environment friendly vehicles as it is propelled by our own physical energy and does not require any maintenance.. Electrical bikes are very efficient (a lot more efficient than cars, for instance) but it requires energy input. Nonetheless, the benefits for runs less than 30 km are evident, at no cost and no gas emission. This, without mentioning the pleasure of riding an electrical bike. The quiet propulsion of the engine transmits a unique feeling. ...

Many a weekend bicycle rider has had the same unsettling experience: You ask a friend to ride with you along some scenic, low-impact route. You show up wearing shorts, Sambas and a T-shirt, and he shows up dressed for an Olympic time trial. On his torso is a very tight shirt slashed with a half-dozen garish colors and logos irrelevant to him. His helmet, decorated with flames or stripes or both, is equipped with a rearview mirror. A rubber straw dangles around his neck like a fur stole, through which he can drink fluids from a container on his back. And then there are the spandex leg--enclosures. These have patches of yellow on either flank, giving the impression that your friend is wearing chaps. Yellow-and-black spandex chaps. ...
