TY - JOUR. T1 - A positive role of Patched-Smoothened signaling in promoting cell proliferation during normal head development in Drosophila. AU - Shyamala, Baragur V.. AU - Bhat, Krishna M.. PY - 2002. Y1 - 2002. N2 - The transmembrane receptor Patched regulates several developmental processes in both invertebrates and vertebrates. In vertebrates, Patched also acts as a tumor suppressor. The Patched pathway normally operates by negatively regulating Smoothened, a G-protein-coupled receptor; binding of Hedgehog ligand to Patched relieves this negative interaction and allows signaling by Smoothened. We show that Ptc regulates Drosophila head development by promoting cell proliferation in the eye-antennal disc. During head morphogenesis, Patched positively interacts with Smoothened, which leads to the activation of Activin type I receptor Baboon and stimulation of cell proliferation in the eye-antennal disc. Thus, loss of Ptc or Smoothened activity affects cell proliferation in the eye-antennal ...
EVALUATION OF TWO REFERENCE PLANES TO THE HORIZON IN THE NATURAL HEAD POSITION By: David M. Allport, D.D.S. Dental casts are mounted to dental articulators using anatomical records in order to simulate and duplicate static and dynamic interocclusal relationships. The three dimensional relationship of the maxillary arch to the transverse horizontal axis of the mandible is defined by establishing a third point of reference. The most common reference plane is the Frankfort horizontal plane, which is theoretically parallel to the horizon when the patient is in the natural head position. 1 The HIP [hamular notch incisive papilla] plane has also been proposed as a true horizontal reference plane for orienting the maxillary cast to the articulator. 2 The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship of the Frankfort horizontal plane and the HIP plane to the horizontal when the patient is in the natural head position. Ten subjects were evaluated in the natural head position with angular ...
1. Artifically metamorphosed axolotls were exposed to both brief (impulse) and long-lasting horizontal angular accelerations on a turn-table. The animals responded with a head-turning reaction. 2. The general course of the reaction to impulse acceleration was independent of stimulus intensity. The velocity of the head movement first increased to a maximum exponentially and then decreased in a negative exponential manner. Stimulus intensity had a linear relationship to the mean maximum velocity and mean total angle covered by head-turning. The average velocity-time curves at various stimulus intensities differed only by a velocity factor. 3. During long-lasting constant accelerations the velocity of the head-turning increased to a maximum velocity in a sigmoid time-course and then decreased, first to a constant velocity, and then further. Mean values of the maximum velocity were correlated linearly with the stimulus intensity. 4. It was concluded that the head-turning reflexes in axolotls do not ...
The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of the head position on passive drag with a towing-line experiment in a swimming pool. The tests were performed on ten male swimmers with regional level swimming skills and at least 10 years of competitive swimming experience. They were towed underwater (at a depth of 60 cm) at three speeds (1.5, 1.7 and 1.9 m/s) and in two body positions (arms above the swimmers head and arms alongside the body). These two body positions were repeated while the swimmers head was positioned in three different ways: head-up, head-middle and head-down in relation to the bodys horizontal alignment. The results showed a reduction of 4-5.2% in the average passive drag at all speeds when the head was down or aligned to the swimmers arms alongside the body, in comparison to the head-up position. A major significant decrease of 10.4-10.9% (p , 0.05) was shown when the head was down or aligned at the swimmers arms above the swimmers head. The passive drag tended ...

Embodiments distinguish among user interface elements based on head orientation. Coordinates representing a set of at least three reference points in an image of a subject gazing on the user interface elements are received by a computing device. The set includes a first reference point and a second reference point located on opposite sides of a third reference point. A first distance between the first reference point and the third reference point is determined. A second distance between the second reference point and the third reference point is determined. The computing device compares the first distance to the second distance to calculate a head orientation value. The computing device selects at least one of the user interface elements based on the head orientation value. In some embodiments, the head orientation value enables the user to navigate a user interface menu or control a character in a game.
The assessment of an infant or child with an abnormal head circumference commonly includes imaging of the head with neurosonography, computed tomography (CT), or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The choice of imaging modality depends on the patients age, presentation, clinical condition, and suspected underlying abnormality.. Macrocephaly, a head circumference more than 2 SD above the mean, or more than the 98th percentile for patient age, is a nonspecific finding. It may reflect benign enlargement of the subarachnoid spaces or may herald a significant intracranial abnormality: an extra-axial collection, a hydrocephalus, or a developmental, metabolic, neoplastic, posttraumatic, or infectious etiology.. Microcephaly, a head circumference more than 2 SD below the mean, or less than the third percentile for patient age, may be primary or secondary, acquired or genetic. Common causes include chromosomal abnormalities, intrauterine infection, intrauterine ischemia, maternal exposure to drugs and ...

In the first 2 years of life the infant skull experiences its greatest structural and geometric change [31]. Intracranial volume doubles during the first 6-9 months of life [5], and increases by another 20% in the subsequent 6 months [5]. A significant positive correlation between brain volume and cranial circumference has been demonstrated by postmortem studies and CT examinations of deceased newborns [32, 33], in line with MRI studies of older children [4]. For this reason, the head circumference measure (HC) is a recognized, well-established screening parameter for intracranial volume [34-36]. This measure should, however, not be accepted without reservation, since maximal head circumference primarily reflects expansion of the base of the skull [22, 29, 37, 38].. Estimating skull volume is based, on the one hand, on country-specific HC growth reference charts, which are periodically updated [10, 13]. On the other, a wide variety of specific craniometric ratios attempt to estimate the change ...

FHP or Forward Head Posture is a problem affecting approximately 90% of people in America. We look down so much at our cell phones, personal computers, tablets and dont even realize the damage we are causing our cervical spine. It can also be found while driving since many people sit without ever using their head support. You are driving with forward head position.. With all of this ugly forward head position in our lives we create an imbalance in the muscles supporting the head. I think we can all agree that the head is fairly important in our lives so fixing this issue is imperative for not only improving performance but overall quality of life.. So now we go from this ugly forward head position or texting neck all day to the other extreme while executing the deadlift. Let me explain.. The nasty habit that is found in gyms across the world is that head up looking at the horizon approach to deadlifting. As athletes, we are always told to look ahead and dont drop your head and that is ...

Although I am fully convinced of the truth of the views given in this volume, I by no means expect to convince experienced naturalists whose minds are stocked with a multitude of facts all viewed, during a long course of years, from a point of view directly opposite to mine. It is so easy to hide our ignorance under such expressions as plan of creation, unity of design, etc., and to think that we give an explanation when we only restate a fact. Any one whose disposition leads him to attach more weight to unexplained difficulties than to the explanation of a certain number of facts will certainly reject the theory. ...

First, we investigate the magnitude of the BIC across ITDs averaged across animals of the same species (as measured by the cross-correlation gain; Fig. 4A). For all species considered, the magnitude of the BIC remains high even for ITDs well beyond the physiological range of ITDs of that species (Fig. 4A). In addition, it is striking that the width of the curves in Figure 4A is not related to the head size (horizontal bars). A very similar result holds with the analysis of individually labeled DP1 (Fig. 4D) and DN1 peaks (Fig. 4E). In addition, we report the amplitudes of DN1 peaks as measured in previous studies for two additional species: cats (Fig. 4E, dark gray; Ungan et al., 1997), whose head size is twice that of guinea pigs; and humans (Fig. 4E, black; Riedel and Kollmeier, 2006), whose head size is twice that of cats (Fig. 4E). As a result, our dataset now includes animals with an eightfold difference in head sizes from mice to humans, and thus an eightfold difference in the ecological ...

Pax7 expressing muscle stem cells accompany all skeletal muscles in the body and in healthy individuals, efficiently repair muscle after injury. Currently, the in vitro manipulation and culture of these cells is still in its infancy, yet muscle stem cells may be the most promising route towards the therapy of muscle diseases such as muscular dystrophies. It is often overlooked that muscular dystrophies affect head and body skeletal muscle differently. Moreover, these muscles develop differently. Specifically, head muscle and its stem cells develop from the non-somitic head mesoderm which also has cardiac competence. To which extent head muscle stem cells retain properties of the early head mesoderm and might even be able to switch between a skeletal muscle and cardiac fate is not known. This is due to the fact that the timing and mechanisms underlying head muscle stem cell development are still obscure. Consequently, it is not clear at which time point one should compare the properties of head
TY - JOUR. T1 - Pattern of descent of foetal head in normal labour.. AU - Kushtagi, P.. PY - 1995/9/1. Y1 - 1995/9/1. N2 - The phenomenon of foetal head descent and the effect of station of foetal head at admission on the course of labour were studied on the basis of a prospective partographic study in 100 cases of normal labour. Only 16.9% of nulliparous women had engaged foetal head at admission in labour. Engagement of foetal head occurred during the period of maximum slope of cervical dilatation in nulliparous women and at the onset of deceleration phase in multiparous women. Parturients with unengaged foetal head entered hospital much earlier in labour than those with engaged foetal based. Course of labour was uninfluenced by the degree of engagement of foetal head. However, multiparous women showed faster rate of foetal head descent than nulliparous women (p , 0.001) and women with lesser haemoglobin concentration demonstrated slower rate of descent of foetal head (p , 0.01).. The average head circumference at birth is 33-35 cm and increases about 2 cm per month. Head circumference should be measured at each visit and plotted on a growth chart. Although head size often follows body growth, small infants may have large heads and vice versa. It is not unusual for the head circumference to cross percentiles during the first year of life, but if the infant has a large head, other family members heads should be measured and plotted and a full developmental assessment and examination should be performed. Large heads are often a familial feature. The posterior fontanel usually closes at 6-8 weeks of life and the anterior fontanel between 12-18 months.. ...

Head and trunk muscles have discrete embryological origins and are governed by distinct regulatory programmes. Whereas the developmental route of trunk muscles from mesoderm is well studied, that of head muscles is ill defined. Here, we show that, unlike the myogenic trunk paraxial mesoderm, head mesoderm development is independent of the T/Tbx6 network in mouse. We reveal that, in contrast to Wnt and FGF-driven trunk mesoderm, dual inhibition of Wnt/β-catenin and Nodal specifies head mesoderm. Remarkably, the progenitors derived from embryonic stem cells by dual inhibition efficiently differentiate into cardiac and skeletal muscle cells. This twin potential is the defining feature of cardiopharyngeal mesoderm: the head subtype giving rise to heart and branchiomeric head muscles. Therefore, our findings provide compelling evidence that dual inhibition specifies head mesoderm and unravel the mechanism that diversifies head and trunk muscle programmes during early mesoderm fate commitment. ...
Gravitational forces may lead to local changes in subarachnoid cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) layer thickness, which has important implications for neurophysiological modulation and recording techniques. This study examines the effect of gravitational pull associated with different head positions on the distribution of subarachnoid CSF using structural magnetic resonance imaging. Images of seven subjects in three different positions (supine, left lateral and prone) were statistically compared. Results suggest that subarachnoid CSF volume decreases on the side of the head closest to the ground, due to downward brain movement with gravity. These findings warrant future research into currently unexplored gravitation-induced changes in regional subarachnoid CSF thickness.
We show here that a structurally unresolved 17-residue segment of the MeV H protein head must have a defined length to favor proper H tetramerization and promote efficient membrane fusion triggering. We propose that during H-tetramer maturation this segment would act as a leash long enough to allow the H heads to adopt a triggering-permissive conformation but short enough to limit their roaming and improper contacts with heads of neighboring tetramers.. Genus-specific variations of the conserved paramyxovirus membrane fusion mechanism are currently being characterized (9, 10, 23, 24). The paramyxovirus head repositioning model was suggested based on structural analyses of entire HN protein ectodomains, which crystallized in distinct conformations about the stalk: 4 heads down, 4 heads up, and 2 heads up/2 heads down (12, 13, 19). While in all these conformations the globular heads behave like rigid bodies maintaining similar structures, they might take advantage of flexible linkers to relocate ...
It is important to measure the patients head circumference at birth. A very small head circumference implies a process that began early in embryonic or foetal development. Serial head circumference measurements are more meaningful than a single determination particularly when the abnormality is minimal. If the cause of the microcephaly is unknown the mother serum phenyl alanine level should be determined. CT scanning or MRI may be useful in identifying structural abnormalities ...

What is Forward Head Posture? Have you ever noticed a hump at the base of your neck? Or your head is always protruding forwards when you work on your laptop or desktop for prolonged periods? Thats probably because of forward head posture, which may be acquired due to faulty or prolonged bad postures. Forward head posture occurs when the head shifts forward from your bodys center of gravity, to compensate the upper shoulders and thoracic spine. There is hyperextension of the upper neck (cervica

In the mouse, the formation of the embryonic head is critically dependent on the function of homeobox transcription factors OTX2 and LHX1, the strict regulation of WNT signaling activity and the inductive signals that are emanating from the axial mesendoderm (AME) at gastrulation stage. Inactivation of Otx2 or Lhx1 results in head truncation, similar to the mutant embryos that are associated with the loss of Dkk1 gene which codes for an antagonist of the WNT signaling cascade. All three genes, Otx2, Lhx1 and Dkk1, are co-expressed in the AME, a tissue that is derived from the epiblast. The focus of this project is to investigate the molecular mechanism underpinning the formation, and the function of the AME for head formation. AME-specific ablation of Otx2 gene (Otx2ameCKO), mediated by the recombinase activity controlled by Foxa2 promoter (Foxa2-merCremer), resulted in a head truncation phenotype. In the AME of the Otx2ameCKO mutant embryos, the expression of Dkk1 was markedly reduced, which is ...
A sizeable proportion of adult pedestrians involved in vehicle-versus-pedestrian accidents suffer head injuries, some of which can lead to lifelong disability or even death. To understand head injury mechanisms, in-depth accident analyses and accident reconstructions were conducted. A total of 120 adult pedestrian accident cases from the GIDAS (German In-Depth Accident Study) database were analysed, from which 10 were selected for reconstruction. Accident reconstructions initially were performed using multi-body system (MBS) pedestrian and car models, so as to calculate head impact conditions, like head impact velocity, head position and head orientation. These impact conditions then were used to set the initial conditions in a simulation of a head striking a windshield, using finite element (FE) head and windshield models. The intracranial pressure and stress distributions of the FE head model were calculated and correlated with injury outcomes. Accident analysis revealed that the windshield and its
This study of 12 439 men and women born in Helsinki, Finland, during 1934 to 1944 confirms previous observations that low birth weight is associated with increased risk of stroke.1-6 This association is independent of the length of gestation and therefore reflects slow fetal growth. Low body mass index at birth was also associated with later stroke. The disorder was not associated with small head circumference at birth, which is consistent with previous reports of relative sparing of brain growth during the slow fetal growth that precedes stroke.5 We were not able to confirm the association between thrombotic stroke and preterm birth reported from Sweden.7 One difficulty in interpreting this is that large numbers of babies born prematurely 60 or more years ago would have failed to survive infancy.. We have been able to examine, for the first time to our knowledge, the associations between growth in the first 2 years after birth and later stroke. We have previously shown that slow growth during ...
In forward head posture, there is anterior tilting of the cervical spine. The cause of the Forward Head Posture is excessive sitting and misalignment in the pelvis or it can also occur from injuries, such as neck strain or sprain. Know the causes, symptom and treatment for forward head posture and exercises to correct it.
Background: Several lines of investigation indicate there to be potential beneficial effects of interventions that augment cerebral blood flow (CBF) to irrigate the ischemic penumbra in acute ischemic stroke. The simplest manner to do this is to place the patient in a lying flat rather than upright head position. However, any potential benefits on the brain may be offset by an increased hazard of aspiration pneumonia or exacerbation of cardiac failure in vulnerable patients. Given uncertainty over the balance of potential modest benefits and risks, and variability regarding the ideal head position policy for patients with acute ischemic stroke around the world, reliable randomized evidence is required to standardize clinical practice.. Aims: The main objectives of this pilot phase clinical trial are to determine the feasibility, safety and potential efficacy of a large-scale cluster randomized clinical trial to assess whether a simple nursing care policy - lying flat head position - provides ...
Methods Birthweight and head circumference (OFC) were documented for 366 singleton infants of drug-misusing women prescribed substitute methadone and delivered at a single hospital over a 3-year period. Administrative obstetric records of all women delivering in Scotland over 3 years were used to select controls, matching on maternal smoking, social deprivation (Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation) and gestation. Birthweight and OFC of methadone-exposed infants were compared to those of 1956 matched infants, using regression analysis to control for sex, maternal age and parity.. ...

Weve all seen people working on laptops in airports, airplanes, coffee shops, on the train, walking down the street…you name it! So how does this affect ones neck, and does it contribute to headaches? A 2016 study compared females with posture-induced headaches vs. healthy, age-matched female control subjects to see if there was any significant difference in their head-tilt and forward head position during laptop use. The research team measured angles for maximum head protraction (chin-poking forwards), head-tilt, and forward head position at baseline (neutral resting) and while using a laptop. Essentially, they measured how slumped the participants posture was at rest vs. while working on a laptop. The results showed that the headache group demonstrated an increased head protraction of 22.3% compared to the control group at rest. When comparing the ratio of forward head position during habitual sitting to the maximum head protraction, the researchers found a significant difference, which ...
Many studies concerned with IUGR are bedeviled by the problem of definition: fetal malnutrition and SGA are not synonymous. By using an arbitrary cutoff point within a population, some small normal infants will be included. In a study by Deter et al,13 only 40% of infants with IUGR were SGA (,10th centile), where IUGR was defined using a specific neonatal growth assessment score. As with all normally distributed variables, individuals within the extremes of the distribution may be normal or may have entered this area by virtue of an underlying pathologic process.. Our anthropometric data show that even when using stringent weight criteria (≤second centile), small normal infants are still included in the group. However, in the SGA group, a measure of thinness, the mid-arm circumference/head circumference ratio, was significantly correlated to the number of episodes of low blood glucose values, confirming earlier work14 and indicating that it remains important to identify those who are truly ...
The present study used an inhibition of return (IOR) spatial cueing paradigm to examine how gaze direction and head orientation modulate attention capture for human faces. Target response time (RT) was measured after the presentation of a peripheral cue, which was either a face (with frontfacing or averted gaze, in either frontal head view or averted head view) or a house (control). Participants fixated on a centred cross at all times and responded via button press to a peripheral target after a variable stimulus onset asynchrony (SOA) from the stimulus cue. At the shortest SOA (150 ms), RTs were shorter for faces than houses, independent of an IOR response, suggesting a cue-based RT advantage elicited by faces. At the longest SOA (2400 ms), a larger IOR magnitude was found for faces compared to houses. Both the cue-based RT advantage and later IOR responses were modulated by gaze-head congruency; these effects were strongest for frontal gaze faces in frontal head view, and for averted gaze ...
Similar flight control principles operate across insect and vertebrate fliers. These principles indicate that robust solutions have evolved to meet complex behavioral challenges. Following from studies of visual and cervical feedback control of flight in insects, we investigate the role of head stabilization in providing feedback cues for controlling turning flight in pigeons. Based on previous observations that the eyes of pigeons remain at relatively fixed orientations within the head during flight, we test potential sensory control inputs derived from head and body movements during 90° aerial turns. We observe that periods of angular head stabilization alternate with rapid head repositioning movements (head saccades), and confirm that control of head motion is decoupled from aerodynamic and inertial forces acting on the birds continuously rotating body during turning flapping flight. Visual cues inferred from head saccades correlate with changes in flight trajectory; whereas the magnitude of neck
Researchers in one study began measuring blood folate levels in 100 mothers at the 14th week of pregnancy, and followed up on their childrens behavior for nine years. Kids whose moms had lower blood folate levels were more likely to be hyperactive and to have behavioral problems with peers. Moms who consumed an average of 466 mcg of folic acid per day had kids with larger head circumferences at birth than kids whose moms got an average of 413 mcg of folic acid per day, suggesting that folic acid influences brain development, doctors said.. Average human head weight is around 4.5~5.4kg. Forward transition of head will lead to increase the head weight upto 12~18kg. This means people with forward head posture will use double or triple amount of muscles to support their head throughout the day. No wonder neck and shoulders become stiff and heavy. Improving posture is not that simple. It is misconception that poor posture is due to lack of attention in posture. Posture is a process that operated by reflex. Which means posture will be made throughout the day without realising it. Good example is breathing. People breath approximately 17,000 to 30,000 times per day. Never aware of it. Breathing can be controlled such as slow, fast or stopped. People attempt to maintain good posture intentionally for the whole day will be equal to I am going to breath 25,000 times today. In the next months article, I will write about how to avoid poor posture from happening.. . by Dr Jarod Kim. Chiropractor. . The Millwater Mag - 2018 August ...
In 2015, CCR Analytics, formerly Child Care Analytics, published the results of their Family Outcomes Survey completed by nearly 11,600 California Head Start and Early Head Start parents. 90% of parents surveyed said that Head Start helped them to get or keep a job. 92% of parents surveyed said that Head Start helped them to enroll in an educational or training program. 99% of families surveyed said that Head Start helped them to improve their parenting skills, such as responding to childrens misbehavior and helping their children to learn. These results indicate that Head Start has a positive impact on the whole family, beyond the individual children who attend the program.[19] In 2014, CCR Analytics published the results of their study of 49,467 children assessed in the 2012-2013 school year from 81 Head Start programs throughout the state of California (more than 50% of the entire California Head Start population). Participation in the study was open to all California Head Start programs who ...
Q: Why is this program different from other posture & FHP programs?. A: Unlike other posture programs which focus on stretching exercises, Ricks program is unique in focusing closely on the sequential flow. In other words, it isnt necessarily about what exercises and stretches are performed, more about completing them in the right sequence in order to open up and unravel the neck so you can begin to fix Forward Head Posture and restore balance to the body.. Q: Why cant I just get all this information from the internet?. A: There are a lot of videos and online resources dedicated to tackling the problem of Forward Head Posture, yet very few offer a complete solution to fixing the problem at its root. While many suggest stretches which will give temporary relief from any neck, shoulder or back pain, Ricks program is designed to get to the very root of the problem and give you a long term solution.. You can only do this through using Ricks tailored program which is NOT available anywhere ...

N2 - Head movements are typically viewed as a nuisance to functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) analysis, and are particularly problematic for resting state fMRI. However, there is growing evidence that head motion is a behavioral trait with neural and genetic underpinnings. Using data from a large randomly ascertained extended pedigree sample of Mexican Americans (n = 689), we modeled the genetic structure of head motion during resting state fMRI and its relation to 48 other demographic and behavioral phenotypes. A replication analysis was performed using ...

Objectives: The purpose of this craniometric study was to analyze the accuracy of panoramic radiograph in diagnosing mandibular ramal and condlyar vertical asymmetries. Methods: In this study the accuracy of vertical condylar measurements is assessed on the OP1OO using human skulls. Three different head positions are used: normal (according to manufacturers instructions), tilted 10°, and rotated 10°. Condylar ratios are measured from the skulls and compared to the commensurate measurements on the radiographs according to the method of Kjellberg. The asymmetry between left and right condyles is determined by the following formula: [(Ratio R-Ratio L)/(Ratio R + Ratio L)] X 100. The hypothesis tested was that the use of condylar ratios and asymmetry index has no clarifying effect on the magnification and distortion effects of poor head position when evaluating the vertical height of the condyle as shown on the OP100. Multivariate tests of variance (MANOVA) were used: Pillais Trace, Wilks Lambda Test,

For a time fractional diffusion equation with source term, we discuss an inverse problem of determining a spatially varying function of the source by final overdetermining data. We prove that this inverse problem is well-posed in the Hadamard sense except for a discrete set of values of diffusion constants.
The headstack of a disk drive is formed with separate sections, each of which supports a plurality of head suspensions. In one embodiment, the sections are blocks on which pairs of head suspensions having UP and DOWN facing sliders are mounted. The blocks are individually positioned and aligned relative to a disk stack. In a second embodiment, head suspensions are supported by a pair of modules. A first module supports suspensions with UP head sliders and a second module supports suspensions with DOWN head sliders. The modules interlock so that an alternating arrangement of UP and DOWN heads result. By use of a comb-like head loading tool, the suspensions that carry the head sliders are spaced and loaded to respective disk surfaces.

Results A total of 117 patients were identified to have received surgical treatment of craniosynostosis at CHLA between 1995 and 2005. 66 charts contained appropriate data for collection, including a pre-operative head circumference measurement and post-operative head circumference measurements immediately post-operatively, at approximately 3 months, 6 months, and/or 1 year. Of these, 39 patients had sagittal craniosynostosis, 12 coronal, 4 bicoronal, 3 metopic, 3 lambdoid, and 5 multisynostotic. Preliminary results show a progression of head circumference growth along the growth curve at an age appropriate head circumference percentile following surgical treatment of craniosynostosis. Further investigation is pending. ...

Hi. I just wanna share my experience.2003, I started to feel little pains in my head and sometimes, I cant hear well. I thought it was just nothing, until 2005 up to 2008, the pain became so intense. At first I thought that it was just a migraine, but I asked myself why I have terrible pressure inside my ear.I went to different doctors and spent a lot of money for ear check ups and head x-rays, but they all said that my ear is clean and healthy, but still, the terrible pressure inside my left ear hurts my head that also affects my eyes and sometimes nose. Id been so *****d and worried why doctors kept telling me otherwise, while I was really feeling terrible pain inside my ear and my head. Sometimes I just pulled my hair and felt like bumping it on the wall cos of too much pain in my head and I felt like I want to scratch something inside my head that causes pain. Since 2007, aside from terrible head aches, I also felt dizziness that sometimes I wanted to vomit. July 2008, I kept on searching ...

The head is a large and heavy part of a person. In a child, the head can account for ¼ of their weight. In the adult, the head weighs 10-14 pounds, and this load has to be balanced by the strength of the neck muscles. In normal upright posture, there is a forward curve to the neck, and this curve provides the perfect balance between strength and mobility. Unfortunately, this curve can be disrupted by whiplash and other traumas that damage the delicate ligaments and disks. This results in a straight or military neck.. When a person bends their head forward to read or type, the neck begins to straighten and the weight of the head must be countered by the pull of the muscles at the back of the neck. If the person does this all day-because they work at a computer, for example-then the muscles never get a break. Knots, tightness, or spasm of the muscles will increase and cause a neck ache. The person may feel a tightness or pain around the head because the muscles pull at the base of the skull. ...

The present invention provides an efficient approach of attaching and fixing a measurement head for a spectroscopic system to a variety of different parts of the skin of a patient. The measurement head preferably features a compact design providing a flexible handling and offering a huge variety of application areas taking into account the plurality of properties of various portions of the skin. Furthermore, the measurement head features a robust and uncomplicated optical design not requiring a lateral shifting of the optical axis of the objective. Such transverse relative movements between the objective and a capillary vessel in the skin are preferably performed by mechanically shifting the skin with respect to the objective of the measurement head. Moreover, the measurement head is adapted to host one or more pressure sensors measuring the contact pressure between the measurement head and the skin. This pressure information can further be exploited in order to calibrate the spectroscopic
