Wastes Banned From the Trash
Many common products that we use in our daily lives contain potentially hazardous materials and require special care when disposed of. It is illegal to dispose of hazardous waste in the garbage, down storm drains, or onto the ground. Chemicals in illegally disposed hazardous waste can be released into the environment and contaminate our air, water, and possibly the food we eat. And by throwing hazardous waste in the garbage, you can cause additional hazards to your garbage handler.. Regulations to protect public health and the environment have been changing. This is because we now know that some common items that have traditionally been thrown in your households or small business trash cannot be safely disposed in landfills. These common items are referred to as hazardous waste, and some of them as universal waste (u-waste). As of February 9, 2006, all u-waste items are banned from the trash. For additional information on u-waste, please check the Department of Toxics Substances Control ...

Endosulfan enters air, water, and soil when it is manufactured or used as a pesticide. Endosulfan is often applied to crops using sprayers. Some endosulfan in the air may travel long distances before it lands on crops, soil, or water. Endosulfan on crops usually breaks down within a few weeks. Endosulfan released to soil attaches to soil particles. Endosulfan found near hazardous waste sites is usually found in soil. Some endosulfan in soil evaporates into air, and some endosulfan in soil breaks down. However, it may stay in soil for several years before it all breaks down. Rain water can wash endosulfan that is attached to soil particles into surface water. Endosulfan does not dissolve easily in water. Most endosulfan in surface water is attached to soil particles floating in the water or attached to soil at the bottom. The small amounts of endosulfan that dissolve in water break down over time. Depending on the conditions in the water, endosulfan may break down within 1 day or it may take ...
ATSDR - Toxic Substances - Zinc
Zinc is one of the most common elements in the earths crust. It is found in air, soil, and water, and is present in all foods. Pure zinc is a bluish-white shiny metal.
Zinc has many commercial uses as coatings to prevent rust, in dry cell batteries, and mixed with other metals to make alloys like brass, and bronze. A zinc and copper alloy is used to make pennies in the United States.
Zinc combines with other elements to form zinc compounds. Common zinc compounds found at hazardous waste sites include zinc chloride, zinc oxide, zinc sulfate, and zinc sulfide. Zinc compounds are widely used in industry to make paint, rubber, dyes, wood preservatives, and ointments.
NCJRS Abstract - National Criminal Justice Reference Service
This analysis of the environmental consequences of the COPS Methamphetamine Initiative is limited to grant-funded activities. Funding under the Methamphetamine Initiative covers the removal of bottles, cans, jugs, and other containers of hazardous waste as well as the removal of contaminated apparatus and inextricably contaminated articles from a clandestine drug laboratory location. The Methamphetamine Initiative does not cover further cleanup of residual hazardous wastes that may remain at clandestine drug laboratory sites after the removal action is completed. For the purposes of this document, the term environmental remediation refers to the cleanup of residual hazardous wastes that may remain in contaminated structures, soil, or water systems after the removal action is completed. The property owner, State or local health department, or State and local environmental agency would address any residual contamination that may remain at the site after removal actions are completed. This ...
Electronic waste by country - Wikipedia
Electronic waste is a significant part of todays global, post-consumer waste stream. Efforts are being made to recycle and reduce this waste. The Basel Convention on the Control of Transboundary Movements of Hazardous Wastes and Their Disposal, usually known simply as the Basel Convention, is an international treaty that was designed to reduce the movements of hazardous waste between nations, and specifically to prevent transfer of hazardous waste from developed to less developed countries. Of the 172 parties to the Convention, Afghanistan, Haiti, and the United States have signed the Convention but have not yet ratified it. The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) tends to support the repair and recycling trade. Mining to produce the same metals, to meet demand for finished products in the west, also occurs in the same countries, and UNCTAD has recommended that restrictions against recycling exports be balanced against the environmental costs of recovering those ...
Health hazards and waste management »
Waste disposal simply means removing and destroying or storing damaged, used or other unwanted domestic, agricultural or industrial products and substances. Disposal includes burning, burial at landfill sites or at sea, and recycling, while improper waste disposal re disposal of refuse without proper supervision which often amounts damage to the environment and ultimately to the human body system The environmentalists expressed their serious concern over the unscientific and improper management of municipal solid waste, describing it as hazardous to human health. Improper disposal of hazardous waste causes adverse effects on human health and the environment. The normal practices of waste disposal such as insanitary open dump, land filling, discharge in water courses, or open-pit burning will need modification when dealing with hazardous wastes. The principle hazard of improper waste disposal is contamination of soil and groundwater. This arises largely from the waste containing hazardous ...
Cancer risks in populations living near landfill sites in Great Britain -ORCA
Previous studies have raised concerns about possible excess risks of bladder, brain and hepatobiliary cancers and leukaemias near landfill sites. Several cancers have been implicated, but no consistent pattern has emerged. We present a large nationwide analysis of selected cancers near landfill sites in Great Britain. The base population comprised people living within 2 km of 9565 (from a total of 19196) landfill sites that were operational at some time from 1982 to 1997, with populations living more than 2 km from a landfill as reference. Risks of cancers at the above sites were computed with adjustment for age, sex, year of diagnosis, region and deprivation. National post-coded registers provided a total of 341856640 person-years for the adult cancer analyses and 113631443 person-years for childhood leukaemia. There were 89786 cases of bladder cancer, 36802 cases of brain cancer, 21773 cases of hepatobiliary cancer, 37812 cases of adult leukaemia and 3973 cases of childhood leukaemia. In spite ...
Characterization and burden of Campania children health migration across Italian regions during years 2006-2010: chance and/or...
This study analyzes medical and socioeconomic variables of the phenomenon of pediatric health mobility in Campania region. However we believe that the study methodology of our research may be used also for other Italian regions with high rates of patients migration.. In addition to causing stress to patients and their families, health migration determines significant costs to native region and subtracts economic resources to the development of their human and technological assets [20]. In general, international analyses in adults [6-17] have shown that perceived quality of services, waiting lists, and doctors expertness seem to represent important aspects for patients. Our families feel that pediatric extra-regional hospitalization in Campania region occurs mainly due to a (truly or perceived) lack of adequate and/or well organized facilities to provide updated assistance to children with complex diseases. However, unexpectedly, migration involved also conditions of medium or low ...
RACHELs Hazardous Waste News #87
The original federal superfund law for cleanup of old dumps (CERCLA) was amended in 1984 and is now called SARA. SARA requires the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to prefer PERMANENT remedies when they clean up old dump sites. Unfortunately, the EPA is systematically ignoring this directive from Congress (see HWN #86). A permanent remedy for an old dump would involve treating the wastes in some way to render them much less dangerous. For example, special high-temperature incinerators (not to be confused with mass burn garbage incinerators) might be used to detoxify wastes, or chemical processing might be used to break down toxic molecules. Last week we reviewed a study of EPAs performance by the U.S. Congresss Office of Technology Assessment (OTA). This week we continue learning from EPAs superfund failures and we add a new source of information that all superfund activists should have: the report RIGHT TRAIN, WRONG TRACK, subtitled, Failed leadership in the superfund cleanup ...

All populations are exposed daily to a variety of chemicals including, but not limited to, large categories of pesticides, pharmaceuticals, household products, and food additives. These exposures may often be intentional or unintentional, to a single chemical or to a mixture of chemicals, either sequentially or simultaneously. Exposures occur in populations living near chemical manufacturing and hazardous waste sites and in the near field runoffs from fields and fertilizers. Transport spills from overturned cargo trains or transportation trucks also constitute potential sources of pollution, contamination, and exposure and eventually lead to an emergency response event. The impact of environmental chemical contamination is evident in part, body burden of chemicals that range from primary elements and radioactive materials to synthetic, persistent organopollutants such as dioxins, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), and pesticides. The major issue is not whether we are being exposed to mixtures of ...

Cadmium is a toxic heavy metal and so all solutions, media, bacteria, etc. containing cadmium must be disposed of as hazardous waste. In the first part of our project the E. coli must be incubated in cadmium-containing media in order to form quantum dots. This part of the project will be performed at Cooper Union in the laboratory of biomedical engineering. The laboratory at the Engineering School at Cooper Union contracts a licensed chemical waste disposal service that is handled by a designated Hazardous Waste Disposal Coordinator/Chemistry Stockroom Technician, who is responsible for scheduling and overseeing the collection of wastes (see link in section 3a). The proper disposal of media containing cadmium salts and the use of personal protective gear, such as nitrile gloves, safety goggles and laboratory coats, will greatly minimize the risks posed to team members.. One major advantage of synthesizing quantum dots biologically, as opposed to chemically, is that it allows the quantum dots to ...

A: In December 2019, 14 new PFAS were added to the Toxic Release Inventory (TRI) monitoring and reporting program as part of the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act. Regulated businesses will be required to monitor these substances, and begin annual reporting by July 1, 2021. The EPA is also considering adding yet additional PFAS to the list of toxic chemicals subject to TRI reporting. The public comment period on the proposed additions closed on February 3.. On January 13, 2020, the House of Representatives approved the PFAS Action Act of 2019 (H.R. 535). If passed, the act would require the EPA to designate certain PFAS (PFOA and PFOS) as hazardous substances within one year, and possibly all of these chemicals within five years. However, H.R. 535 is likely to face significant hurdles in the Senate.. In July 2019, 22 state attorneys general sent a letter to Congress urging that contamination be addressed. Rep. The garbage situation in the U.S. has changed considerably during the past two years. The new situation offers opportunities to grass-roots activists seeking to discourage waste. THE BASIC FACT IS, THE PRICE OF TRASH DISPOSAL IS DROPPING. Philadelphia and Cleveland recently hammered out new long-term garbage contracts that lower their costs 20%.[5] Philadelphias 1988 garbage contract with Waste Management, Inc. locked the city into $67 per ton through 1994. But in March, 1992, Philly signed new contracts for the years 1995-2001 at $50 per ton.[5] Boston recently received bids for the citys garbage disposal at $50 per ton instead of the previous years $70 per ton, a 28% price drop.[5] Pittsburghs contract with Chambers Development is up at the end of 1993 and Pittsburgh officials expect to get a new contract at a price the same or better then the 1993 price of $38.17 per ton.[5] BUT COMMUNITIES WITH INCINERATORS ARE LOCKED INTO HIGH PRICES THEY OFTEN CANT AFFORD. Thus curtailing fly ash use, a Îhazardous wasteÌ designation stands to jeopardize significant benefits Lemay cites: Presently, the concrete industry is the largest beneficial user of fly ash, which totaled 15.8 million tons in 2008. While not all fly ash suits SCM applications, the concrete industry could increase consumption to more than 30 million tons per year by 2020, reducing carbon footprint by 20 percent. Fly ash use in concrete produces longer-lasting structures and reduces waste, raw material extraction, energy required for production, and air emissions. In addition, since fly ash is less expensive than portland cement, it leads to lower raw material and end-product costs.. Conversely, unintended consequences of a hazardous waste designation for CCR will be a 10 percent increase in concrete production costs, Lemay notes, whether fly ash is used (due to utilities greater hazardous-waste disposal costs passed along to customers) or not (cement is more expensive). Risk-averse producers ...
Migration of contaminants into groundwater at a landfill site: A ...: Ingenta Connect
The risk of groundwater pollution is regarded as the principal impact of the disposal of waste on land. In examining this problem, geophysical and geochemical studies were carried out at a solid waste disposal site in Owerri, southeastern Nigeria. The method of solid waste disposal in use is the landfill disposal method. Azimuthal electrical resistivity (ER) soundings were conducted around the site to determine the directions of contaminant transport. Surface and groundwater samples were collected and analysed to determine some geochemical parameters usually considered to be indicators of pollution from solid waste disposal. Comparative studies were made of the geochemical regime before and after the siting of the landfill. Grain size analysis of sediment samples collected at the landfill site were analysed, and found to consist of sand particles with high porosity and permeability. A collection of litho-geophysical logs of the study area gives insight about the nature of the porosity and ...

CITY OF ROMULUS, et al. v. MICHIGAN DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY, et al.
ot provide the MDEQ with discretion to allow construction of a hazardous waste treatment, storage, or disposal facility in a wetland. We nonetheless conclude that Rule 603 does not prohibit construction on land formerly classified as a wetland.. Part 303 grants the MDEQ the authority to permit a myriad of different activities, some of which authorize construction that would not alter the wetland. The fact that the MDEQ issues a Part 303 permit does not necessarily mean that the wetland will be filled and will no longer exist. If, for instance, the MDEQ had issued a Part 303 permit to EDS to build a facility at the site, but the permit did not authorize EDS to fill the wetlands, the MDEQ would be precluded from issuing EDS a Part 111 permit to build the hazardous waste treatment facility because the proposed facility would still be in a wetland. A builder with a similar Part 303 permit would not be precluded from building a type II landfill unit in a wetland under Rule 416.. In this case, the ...

Waste - Wikipedia
Waste (or wastes) are unwanted or unusable materials. Waste is any substance which is discarded after primary use, or it is worthless, defective and of no use. Examples include municipal solid waste (household trash/refuse), hazardous waste, wastewater (such as sewage, which contains bodily wastes (feces and urine) and surface runoff), radioactive waste, and others. According to the Basel Convention on the Control of Transboundary Movements of Hazardous Wastes and Their Disposal of 1989, Art. 2(1), Wastes are substance or objects, which are disposed of or are intended to be disposed of or are required to be disposed of by the provisions of national law. The UNSD Glossary of Environment Statistics describes waste as materials that are not prime products (that is, products produced for the market) for which the generator has no further use in terms of his/her own purposes of production, transformation or consumption, and of which he/she wants to dispose. Wastes may be generated during the ...

If youve been using conventional nail polish, Id suggest stopping right away but please also dispose of conventional nail polish carefully. The EPA classifies nail polish as household hazardous waste and requests that it is disposed of in a proper hazardous waste disposal site. You can use this directory(in the US) to find a hazardous waste disposal site near you.. It is also important to note that nail salons typically do not use non-toxic nail polish options and that the air in nail salons is usually highly contaminated with chemicals. ASTANA (8 April 2015) - United Nations Special Rapporteur on human rights and hazardous substances and wastes, Baskut Tuncak, today called on the Government of Kazakhstan to step up efforts in protecting those who live in environmentally high-risk areas. Mr. Tuncak, speaking at the end of an official visit* to the Republic of Kazakhstan, noted the positive steps taken by the Government to mitigate the adverse impacts of hazardous substances and wastes on human rights. These include the adoption of numerous international human rights and environmental treaties, as well as domestic laws, policies and programmes.. While these measures are highly commendable, in my visits around the country I have seen many people living in and around mountains of hazardous waste, cities engulfed in air pollution, houses coated in dust from industrial activities, and received information on illegal radioactive and hazardous waste dumpsites, the human rights expert said. During his 14-day mission, the Special ...

Dentistry may not be the first use of mercury that comes to mind when considering this heavy metal. Nevertheless the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Global Mercury Assessment 2013 revealed that mercury in dental use amounts to some 10% of global mercury consumption overall, and over 20% of global mercury consumption in products. Due to growing concern regarding impacts of mercury on the environment, governments decided to negotiate a legally binding instrument on mercury, and the text of the Minamata Convention on Mercury was completed and adopted in 2013, one of the key provisions being the requirement for countries to phase down their use of dental amalgam. Based on official country responses to a UNEP survey questionnaire, this report presents a range of measures already taken by some countries in pursuit of their objectives to phase down or entirely eliminate the use of dental amalgam. It is intended that these examples may inspire and instruct other countries efforts.. pdf ...

Converting Brownfield Environmental Negatives into Energy Positives by Steven Ferrey
There is a new paradigm for evaluating landfills. While landfills are contaminated repositories of hazardous wastes, they also are brownfields that can be redeveloped for renewable energy development. It is possible to view landfills through a new lens: As endowed areas of renewable energy potential that can be magnets for a host of renewable development incentives. Landfills also are critical resource areas for the control of greenhouse gases. Landfill materials decompose into methane, a greenhouse gas that is more than twenty times more potent-molecule for molecule-than carbon dioxide. This Article traces the molecular composition of waste in landfills, analyzing the chemical stew that brews in these repositories. Without doubt, landfills in America are brownfields. And many of these landfills leak and cause public health risks. This Article also analyzes the potential to utilize landfill gas for electricity production or as a thermal resource. It evaluates the energy potential at municipal sewage

Insurance Insights: Meth Awareness
In an effort to battle meth production, the Combat Methamphetamine Epidemic Act of 2005 was enacted to limit the purchase of products containing pseudoephedrine, such as Sudafed. The bill prohibits large-volume purchases and restricts access to the products used to manufacture meth. Most states have passed similar laws, making it difficult for criminals to obtain the ingredients for production. Despite this, large numbers of users still make the drug, using storage facilities as an unwary accomplice.. If you operate or work at a storage site, you should know the signs of potential drug activity, how to proceed with legal action, and how to handle related hazardous waste.. Be Meth-Wise. When law-enforcement officers find a meth lab, they also look for storage receipts. This is because each pound of meth produced leaves behind five or six pounds of toxic waste that lab operators often hide in storage along with their stock of ingredients. Though the labs themselves are sometimes found in units, ...

Clock ticking on growing toxic waste pile › Analysis (ABC Science)
News analysis As Australia prepares to export a large stockpile of toxic waste to Denmark, the pressure is on to find a local solution to a new wave of persistent organic pollutants.. Earlier this month Danish authorities agreed to accept thousands of tonnes of Oricas hexachlorobenzene (HCB) waste from Botany in Sydney for incineration.. HCBs are persistent organic pollutants (POPs), which are very toxic and present a major threat to the environment.. Under an international agreement called the Stockholm Convention, designed to avoid risky long-distant transport of POPs, countries are expected to deal with such waste themselves.. But Australia does not currently have a facility to deal with the 16,000 tonnes of HCBs stored at Oricas Botany site. The export plan has the support of the environment minister, Peter Garrett, in whose electorate the waste lies.. Once a government licence is granted for the export, it will end decades of argument over what to do with the HCB waste.. But questions ...

Contamination From Oil and Gas Production Who Pays For Cleanup? | The Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation
The federal act imposing the broadest liability for cleanup of hazardous materials is the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA).1 Congress has exempted from the Acts definition of hazardous waste: petroleum, including crude oil or any fraction thereof which is not otherwise specifically listed or designated as a hazardous substance.2 This exclusion of petroleum from the definition of hazardous substance raises several major questions of interpretation. All petroleum naturally contains some substances (benzene, toluene, xylene, and lead) which are otherwise specifically listed, and therefore regulated as hazardous substances under CERCLA and other laws. If the presence of such naturally occurring substances negated the exemption, no petroleum would qualify under the exclusion. Assuming the result would be contrary to the intent of Congress, does the exemption apply only to petroleum th. ...
Vivint Smart Home Arena - Wikipedia
During the Salt Lake City Olympics, due to IOC policies about having corporate sponsorship for venues, the arena was referred to as the Salt Lake Ice Center during events. After Delta Air Lines declined to renew their 15-year naming rights contract, which expired on September 30, 2006, the stadiums owner, Larry H. Miller, opted to sell naming rights to EnergySolutions, a low-level nuclear waste disposal company headquartered in Salt Lake City.[17][18] The new name was unveiled November 20, prior to the Jazz home game against the Toronto Raptors. Two stickers were placed on the court, covering up the arenas old name with the new one.[19] The temporary logos were replaced with official logos on the court sometime in December. EnergySolutions naming rights were set to expire in 2016.[20]. Initial fan reactions to the new name were predominantly negative. Early nicknames for the arena included the Dump, a jab at EnergySolutions radioactive and hazardous waste disposal operations.[21] Other ...

Efficient Waste Management Need of the Hour: Harsh Vardhan - India Education Diary
Anant Kumar said, the biggest concern today of the environmental problems posed by plastic waste and food packaging. Most of the hazardous waste is generated by the pharmaceutical and medical devices industries. Mr. Kumar said that 12 million tonnes of plastic can be reused and recycled. Further, he suggested Reduce, Recycle and Reuse (3Rs) should be a part of the curriculum in the syllabus of schools at primary and secondary levels. Prime Minister Modi is concerned about the climate change and has launched the Swachch Bharat Mission.. He announced that his Ministry was ready to ink a MoU with CSIR for setting up a task force for promoting 3Rs. He appealed to use 2R (Reuse, Recycle) material instead of waste material. Mr. Kumar said that a Guwahati-based unit was treating two tonnes of plastic waste daily and the plan was to set up 100 such units across the country to give a push to 3R projects. As plastics are everywhere from automobiles to hospitals and it is not biodegradable, it is a ...

Seasonal Controls of Arsenic Transport Across the Groundwater-Surface Water Interface at a Closed Landfill Site |
...
Many industrial and urban sites with subsurface contamination are characterized by shallow aquifers that discharge to nearby surface water bodies. There is little understanding of the ecological risk posed by groundwater contaminant discharges to surface water ecosystems. A limited number of studies suggest that chemical and biological processes in the groundwater-surface water interface (GSI) may play an important role in attenuating groundwater contaminant discharges to surface water bodies. Preliminary observations at the Auburn Road landfill Superfund site suggest groundwater arsenic transport to the Cohas Brook is controlled by the formation of iron oxides in the sediments. In particular, iron oxidizing bacteria are present in the sediments and may play a central role in generation of iron oxyhydroxide solids because abiotic iron oxidation is extremely slow given the pore water chemistry in the GSI.. The goal of this research project is to identify the seasonal cycle of arsenic ...
Reverse osmosis treatment for nitrate removals in high solids wastewater :: Engineering Technical Reports Collection, Purdue...
Section Four PROCESSES-C. PHYSICAL/CHEMICAL 40 REVERSE OSMOSIS TREATMENT FOR NITRATE REMOVALS IN HIGH SOLIDS WASTEWATER Riley N. kinman. Professor Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering University of Cincinnati Cincinnati, Ohio 45221 David L. Ntitini, General Manager RNK Environmental, Inc. Covington, Kentucky 41017 INTRODUCTION A wide range of industrial wastewaters have, in addition to specific hazardous substances in lower concentrations, high levels of other solids which increase the difficulty of treatment. Our group has been looking at these high solids wastewaters as candidates for RO treatment. Newer membranes operated at lower pressures with better washing procedures make the RO process more attractive for hazardous waste, leachates and other high solids wastewaters. High solids chrome bearing wastewater has been processed full scale, high solids wastewater with high levels of ammonia are under study and this particular work involves high solids wastewater with nitrates the ...
Green Business Alliance Blog - Greenify Your Home
A week ago, I was writing from New Orleans where I had been invited to work with ICMA-TV as their reporter, covering events at Brownfields 2009. This was a whole convention full of people engaged in greenifying from the top on down! Brownfields, as the name implies, refers to the government programs to encourage developers to go in, take over problem areas, redevelop economically blighted and often environmentally troubled areas within a community. The convention is sponsorred by the United States Environmental Protection Agency along with ICMA which is the International City and County Managers Association. ICMA invites its members to come and meet with leaders in environmental remediation and cleanup, redevelopment and government funding. The result is often clean, sustainable community projects that get underway because all parties met under one roof. (In fact, I came to view Brownfields 2009 as a sort of jobs fair for contractors, developers and city/county managers looking to put people ...
Entanglement Technologies, Inc. Program: Rapid Real-Time High-Sensitivity Trichloroethylene Vapor Analyzer (2017)
This project is addressing the need for a trace trichloroethylene (TCE) vapor sensor with real-time measurement capabilities. TCE is a toxic volatile organic compound (VOC) used as an industrial solvent. TCE is a common soil contaminant at industrial toxic waste sites, and it migrates through the soil away from the original contamination site. TCE vapor intrusion into buildings from contaminated soil concentrates the TCE vapor indoors, where it poses a health risk to the occupants. Currently, TCE is monitored by capturing it with chemically active materials, and then analyzing those materials in a laboratory; the measurement interval is hours or days. A real-time monitor with a measurement interval of minutes would enable real-time mapping of the TCE concentration within a building, to locate vapor intrusion points of ingress and to monitor the quantity of TCE entering the building. The mapping distinguishes TCE entering the building from indoor sources of TCE.. Entanglement Technologies is ...
Antibiotics Found At High Concentrations In Chinas Lakes And Rivers - Infinite Unknown
Cities in China are quickly becoming toxic waste sites, emitting so much pollution now that people have to walk around with filters over their face. Even the bright blue skies above these highly polluted cities cant disperse the smog. One man has even proposed selling jarred French mountain air to Chinese city dwellers. Many organic products coming from China contain alarming levels of heavy metals, as tested by the Natural News Forensic Food Lab.. As these modern-day chemicals are consumed en masse and discarded into the environment as waste, they begin infiltrating the countryside, accumulating in rivers and lakes. A joint study by the East China University of Science and Technology and the Tongji and Tsinghua Universities, reports that Chinese water quality is plummeting fast, with worrisome amounts of antibiotics and pharmaceuticals appearing throughout the countrys waterways.. In fact, the countrys surface water is carrying about 158 studied pharmaceuticals and personal care product ...

If one was really interested in determining the body burden of mercury they would perform the urinary porphyrin profile analysis (UPPA). Porphyrins are precursors to heme, the oxygen carrying component of blood. Mercury inhibits the conversion of specific porphyrins to heme. This test is backed by decades of published research. Recently it was shown in two published, peer-reviewed studies, that mercury inhibited porphyrins were significantly higher in autistic patients when compared to age matched controls (1)(2). The other way to test for mercury in the body is by using a provoking agent and measuring mercury in the urine. ...... Dr. Fombonne refers to the amount of mercury in vaccines as trace. Again, if he were a toxicologist or chemist, he would realize that the concentration of mercury in a multi-dose vaccine vial is 250 times higher than what the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) classifies as hazardous waste.. I discuss the British findings, briefly, in Chapter Twelve, ...
