Max Wertheimer (1880-1943), Kurt Koffka (1886-1941), and Wolfgang Köhler (1887-1967) founded Gestalt psychology in the early 20th century.[6] The dominant view in psychology at the time was structuralism, exemplified by the work of Hermann von Helmholtz (1821-1894), Wilhelm Wundt (1832-1920), and Edward B. Titchener (1867-1927).[7][8] Structuralism was rooted firmly in British empiricism[7][8] and was based on three closely interrelated theories: (1) atomism, also known as elementalism,[8] the view that all knowledge, even complex abstract ideas, is built from simple, elementary constituents, (2) sensationalism, the view that the simplest constituents-the atoms of thought-are elementary sense impressions, and (3) associationism, the view that more complex ideas arise from the association of simpler ideas.[8][9] Together, these three theories give rise to the view that the mind constructs all perceptions and even abstract thoughts strictly from lower-level sensations that are related ...
Our visual world is hierarchically organized. Hierarchical processing is frequently investigated using Navon figures (large letters made up of smaller ones). In young adults, many studies reported faster reaction times (RT) to target letters presented at the global level [i.e., global precedence (GP)]. Furthermore, an age-related decline of this GP has been reported. We tested whether deficits in perceptual grouping via Gestalt laws (Gestalt principles of Proximity and Continuity) might contribute to this decline. In a directed attention task with valid and invalid cues, 20 young (mean age 22) and 20 older (mean age 57) male subjects had to indicate whether a target letter appeared at the global or local level of a Navon figure. The number of local letters forming the global figure was modulated in 5 steps. As expected, during valid trials, young adults showed a GP that linearly increased with increasing numbers of local letters (i.e., GP enhancement). This suggests that GP is related to perceptual

article{897de195-2872-4fbd-a994-ffa44f635d84, abstract = {,p,Gestalt psychology has traditionally ignored the role of attention in perception, leading to the view that autonomous processes create perceptual configurations that are then attended. More recent research, however, has shown that spatial attention influences a form of Gestalt perception: the coherence of random-dot kinematograms (RDKs). Using ERPs, we investigated whether temporal expectations exert analogous attentional effects on the perception of coherence level in RDKs. Participants were presented fixed-length sequences of RDKs and reported the coherence level of a target RDK. The target was indicated immediately after its appearance by a postcue. Target expectancy increased as the sequence progressed until target presentation; afterward, remaining RDKs were perceived without target expectancy. Expectancy influenced the amplitudes of ERP components P1 and N2. Crucially, expectancy interacted with coherence level at N2, but not at ...

The purpose of the present study is to try to establish if perception is a determinate factor of performance on the Bender Gestalt Test. In a study which is attempting to determine the effects of perceptual factors as compared to motor factors on the Bender Gestalt Test, it would seem necessary to separate the two factors.
Gestalt focuses on meeting clients where they are at in the moment and providing support to their experience. At our core, humans are dynamic and adaptive beings always attempting survival. Gestalt refers to this as creative adaptation. Sometimes, however, the way we adapt isnt helpful in all circumstances. We may experience feeling stuck or at an impasse. The therapy session is intended as a safe place to both identify these patterns of adjustment and explore alternate ways of adapting. This is an experiential form of psychotherapy, which may include using exercises to help foster new awareness, understanding and techniques for self support.. Akiyoshi Kitaoka (北岡 明佳, Kitaoka Akiyoshi, born August 19, 1961) is a Professor of Psychology at the College of Letters, Ritsumeikan University, Kyoto, Japan. In 1984, he received a BSc from the Department of Biology, University of Tsukuba, Tsukuba, Japan, where he studied animal psychology (burrowing behavior in rats) and (at the Tokyo Metropolitan Institute for Neuroscience) neuronal activity of the inferotemporal cortex in macaque monkeys. After his 1991 PhD from the Institute of Psychology, University of Tsukuba,[1] he specialized in visual perception and visual illusions of geometrical shape, brightness, color, in motion illusions and other visual phenomena like Gestalt completion and perceptual transparency, based on a modern conception of Gestalt Psychology.[2] ...
The notion of order appears in Gestalt psychology (Koffka, 1935), and is related to arrangements of objects where their relative placement has significance. As such, order may consist of specific regularities (laws), and these may interact synergistically (Wagemans, Wichmann, & de Beeck, 2005). It was suggested that the visual system seeks order (e.g., symmetry) so as to make sense of sensory signals. The ability of the visual system to detect regularities has been proposed as a method of compressing information to reduce redundancy (Attneave, 1954). Gestalt principles considered under this view are functions of the perceptual machinery that group information together and thus provide an economical description of visual reality. Order in the form of repetitive and symmetrical patterns is also aesthetically preferred (e.g., Newell, Murtagh, & Hutzler, 2013) and has been utilized historically for artistic and architectural purposes. In nature, perfect order rarely exists, and the visual system has ...
Genome-wide gene expression profile studies encompass increasingly large number of samples, posing a challenge to their presentation and interpretation without losing the notion that each transcriptome constitutes a complex biological entity. Much like pathologists who visually analyze information-rich histological sections as a whole, we propose here an integrative approach. We use a self-organizing maps -based software, the gene expression dynamics inspector (GEDI) to analyze gene expression profiles of various lung tumors. GEDI allows the comparison of tumor profiles based on direct visual detection of transcriptome patterns. Such intuitive gestalt perception promotes the discovery of interesting relationships in the absence of an existing hypothesis. We uncovered qualitative relationships between squamous cell tumors, small-cell tumors, and carcinoid tumor that would have escaped existing algorithmic classifications. These results suggest that GEDI may be a valuable explorative tool that ...

As directional errors under a fixed 2D visuomotor rotation are known to decrease approximately exponentially (Krakauer et al., 2000), we made separate exponential fits to the sequences of azimuth and elevation errors for each of the adaptation paths. For every path, this fit was done with three parameters: speed of azimuth learning, speed of elevation learning, and the initial offset from the maximal error (see Materials and Methods for details). The dashed lines on Figure 3A show the adaptation paths corresponding to each fit.. As the adaptation paths were very similar in each of the four quadrants (Fig. 3A,B), we flipped all of them to the first quadrant to increase the sample sizes. Average movement trajectories are shown on Figure 4D; the black ticks show the moment after which the trajectories become significantly different (p , 0.05, Mann-Whitney-Wilcoxon test applied as described above). Adaptation paths corresponding to the late movement hand positions are shown on Figure 4A (p , 10−10 ...

Depicted are the two tones of a just fourth 3:4 (at frequencies f1 = 3 and f2 = 4 of a normalized frequency scale) after passing through an invented transfer system with a relatively modest quadratic as well as cubic non-linear amplitude characteristic which reduces their original amplitude from 60 dB to about 59 dB. For greater clarity, the original two tones are sine tones, i.e. they possess no overtones, and the transfer system is predominantly linear with just one each quadratic and cubic element added.. We observe that this transfer creates several previously not present tones at different frequencies. The tone at frequency 0 is naturally inaudible; it represents a slight change in air pressure for the duration of the interval. At frequency 1 we notice the difference tone f2 - f1 of the original interval. Its amplitude in this example is about 32 dB lower than that of the interval tones and certainly not easy to detect. At frequency 2, however, we find, as a result of the non-linear ...
In OD, Gestalt can easily be seen as co-evolution as opposed to traditional diagnosis or the pathology of the organisational system. When reviewing the deeper purpose of competence and commitment that Argyris speaks about, I was fascinated that the wheel within the wheels that Gestalts grist for the mill grinds, is its stubborn anti-intellectualism. In Argyris analysis of dysfunction in organisations, reasoning about our behaviors is core. Experiencing authenticity may have been unfairly labelled as too touchy-feely to be analysed in learning loops. In fact, hard-nosed, result oriented expectations may have suppressed the expression of truth. I wonder often if this is what precipitated the pretence on which the pursuit of profits was made legitimate. ...

In the joining of one and another, the individual becomes part of some larger experience flowing into and with the greater field. From the I, a we appears. Separating from the larger, sensing difference once more, the reach completes itself. From the we, an I emerges. Reaching, we realize our selves.. Reaching is a whole body event. The sensorimotor organs of mouth, eyes, ears and limbs measure the distance between one and the other. How far away is what I long for? How near is what has become terrifying? Sometimes the distance feels vast as if meeting is simply impossible. Other times, distance shrinks, offering possibilities to feel part of another. Subjective, relational, and perceived, the experienced distance gently expands, abruptly contracts, lightly envelops, or harshly represses.. The ...
Man! Around twelve years ago I started hitting the heavy bag and lifting weights. Even though I grew up playing a variety of sports (until I got, err sidetracked with less healthy activities in high school) I had previously resisted pumping iron as being a little too meat-headish. It was therefore a pleasant surprise how much I thoroughly enjoyed getting pumped up (okay sorta, genetics has an unfortunate hand in this) while listening to intellectually stimulating works like Break Stuff (yeah Limp Biskit). With weights I discovered a totally fun, healthy obsession- the perfect activity for the off-running days which provided the same mind slowing, endorphin buzz along with ample justification for supersizing my McDs french fries. The only draw back was that I had no clue what the hay I was doing - you know like proper form - and managed to tweak the hay out of my lower back.. It got so bad I considered putting the kibosh on activities like weights, running, combing hair, brushing teeth, and ...

One of my personal concerns with thin provisioning is the potential overhead on any write activity that would requires the extension of the VMDK file. To me there is an obvious VMFS operation that needs to take place there which would add to the overall time to complete the disk write. When there is a requirement to expand a disk, the VMDK files will increase in increments based on the block size of the underlying VMFS partition, 1MB, 2MB, 4MB or 8MB. So the overhead may be smaller if your VMFS has been formatted with a bigger block size, i.e. for a 16MB write it only has to expand 2 blocks when the VMFS block size is 8MB but would have to expand 16 blocks if it was formatted with the 1MB block size. I can imagine this percieved overhead could put people off using thin provisioned disks for certain production based environments, especially those where there is a lot of write I/O activity, SQL Server or Exchange for example. To counteract that though, the improvements in the VMware I/O Stack ...

Our considerations have strong implications for object recognition and the philosophy of perception in general. In the model of Figure 1C, the visual input is subjected to a bank of filters, each with its fixed receptive field size and profile. In the next stage, the outputs of the filters are integrated (i.e., pooled) leading to more complex feature processing (and larger receptive fields). Object recognition occurs in a truly mechanistic and stereotyped fashion. In fact, the goal and beauty of these models is to explain perception by basic neural circuits, such as linking crowding to pooling, thus breaking down the complex problems of vision into simple, mathematically treatable computations. This stereotypical procedure is aimed to naturalize, (i.e., replace) the subjective aspects of vision, such as grouping and good Gestalt. However, our results challenge this view. It seems that a flexible grouping stage cannot be avoided (flexible in the sense that subtle changes in the spatial layout ...
In keeping with this semesters mission to Communicate the Relevance of our work to diverse audiences TPC coordinator Danve Castroverde (He Lab) will introduce us to the CommKit from the Broad Institute. Danve will use the CommKit as a Guide to lead a discussion on Figure Design & Creation. The CommKit is a collection of guides to successful communication in the biological sciences, written by the BRCL Fellows. Their goal is to share how we, as graduate students, postdocs, and research scientists, think about conveying technical information to a range of audiences. For example, take these two quotes from the CommKits Figure Design section:. Figures are any visual presentation of your results and they come in a variety of forms. Graphs, diagrams, photos, drawings, schematics, and maps are all types of figures. Despite this variety, the purpose of all figures is the same - to provide evidence to support your message.. The Master of Science (Geochemistry) and Doctor of Philosophy (Geochemistry) programs have been admitted to the Western Regional Graduate Program. This is illustrated for various relative humidities in Figure 2.5. The isotopic composition of the evaporated moisture (for either oxygen or hydrogen isotopes) can be formulated as: dE = (a*dw - hda - e) / [(1- h) + D /1000] ~ (dw - hda - e) / (1- h) (Eq. 2.20) where e = e* + D, e*= (1- a*)·103, a*,1, and the variable D is an additional diffusive (kinetic) isotope fractionation which results from the different diffusivities of the water molecules of various isotopic compositions in the liquid-air boundary layer (i.e., an additional fractionation caused by diffusion across the humidity gradient between the equilibrium vapor layer and the turbulently mixed vapor sublayer on Figure 2.6 ...

From Between Magic and Logic: The Perceptual Art of Edna Andrade, by Joe Houston:. Andrades interest in visual perception was made emphatic in the dazzling Color Motion-64 (1964) (plate 9), a singular work that portended a dramatic shift in her practice. Despite the title, the painting is composed entirely of dramatic contrasts of black and white laid out in checkerboard fashion across the square format of her canvas (any color we may experience is a perceptual anomaly). The equivalent values of the black and white squares provide the ultimate stasis between figure and ground or positive and negative forces. Gestalt psychologists, whom Andrade was reading at the time, invoked this motif as the ultimate either/or structure: either the white squares are perceived as advancing to the foreground, or they are seen as advanced to the background; the organizing mind must choose one or the other of those possibilities at any given instant, even if it teeters back and forth between those two modes. ...
A couple of years back, I was in a 9 month training program called Shamanic Soul Coaching™, created by Francesca Gentille. This method is her own, created from her own personal experiences, and her experience with a number of other psychological and shamanic systems (e.g., Inner Voice Dialogue, Gestalt, Shamanic Depth Psychology, Shamanic Soul Retrieval, Jungian Psychotherapy, and Caroline Myss:Sacred Contracts.) It also bears some resemblance to another system that Francesca did not study, called the Internal Family Systems Model. Each of these systems can work well for some people; each of them have their own flavor and particular applications. One thing all of them share, is that they agree that within each individual there are multiple parts to the Inner Reality. The work of the individual, of the soul, is to engage in conscious integration, compassion, and internal dialogue, in order to bring these parts into harmonious interaction and balance. Its a journey that most people never ...

Stern argues rightly that our perceptions of vitality forms are gestalts. They are holistic judgments that summarize a wealth of complex information that are more than the sum of their parts. But he provides five elements that contribute to a vitality form-movement, force, time, space, and intention or direction. Movement unfolds over time, takes place in space, is experienced as the result of a force with a certain level of intensity, and has a direction or an intention. Since these are components of vitality forms they should help us see how vitality forms are individuated.. While brooding and languorous might share deliberate motion without sharp acceleration, over an extended period of time, they differ in intensity (force) and the amount of psychic space they occupy. Brooding is a more intense and all consuming feeling state than is languor. Furthermore, brooding differs from languor in its intentional focus. Someone who broods is inward looking and the self is experienced as having ...

When my day-work transitioned from music to the non-profit, academic world, it was a HUGE education.. At the college where I work now, Culture is a clearly-defined part of the work environment. This experience has been eye-opening, one that contrasts greatly with what I was accustomed to in the orchestral field.. At least twice a year, we (the entire work force) attend workshops on a variety of culture-related topics. Anonymous surveys on work satisfaction also come up several times a year. These surveys in turn then prompt new workshops and strategies for further improving our work environment.. Yes, there are some eye-rolling, touchy-feely moments, but overall it is something that I look forward to.. Some of the odd behaviors I have witnessed in the arts world would rarely, if not ever, happen in my current workplace. This would be the result of any number of reasons, but the foundation of this gestalt is the dedicated commitment to the cultivation of a positive work environment.. I would ...

Based on these two caveats we might argue that anything of an active nature which is incorporated into hypnotherapy would constitute Gestalt, or alternatively that without explicit training in the Gestalt client-therapist relationship there is nothing we could do which would be Gestalt. However, as the spirit of Gestalt therapy is very much identified by its use of specific techniques that is the approach that will be taken in the following discussion.. The techniques that are associated with Gestalt therapy are closely related to the idea that clients should want to work towards self-awareness through a mastery of their awareness processes. This is in contrast to patients who firstly are actually seeking relief from discomfort, although they may claim that they wish to change their behaviour, and secondly clients who expect that relief will come via the efforts of the therapist. Thus, Gestalt therapy is an exploration rather than a direct modification of behaviour…the goal is growth and ...

This constructive nature of visual perception has only recently been fully appreciated. Earlier thinking about sensory perception was greatly influenced by the British empiricism philosophers, notably John Locke, David Hume, and George Berkeley, who thought of perception as an atomistic process in which simple sensory elements, such as color, shape, and brightness, were assembled in an additive way, component by component. The modern view that perception is an active and creative process that involves more than just the information provided by the retina has its roots in the philosophy of Immanuel Kent and was developed in detail in the early 20th century by the German psychologists Max Wertheimer, Kurt Koffka, and Wolfgang Koehler, who founded the school of Gestalt psychology ...

The number of adjudicated delinquents is rising along with the need to develop effective deterrents and rehabilitative programs. Most rehabilitative efforts, when evaluated individually, do not show any significant degree of effectiveness or appreciable decrease in recidivism. Research in other fields suggests that delinquency is a group phenomenon. This study was conducted to examine existing treatment programs for juvenile offenders to determine if recidivism rates were related to differences in counseling theory and methods. The sample consisted of 728 juveniles assigned to three different non-residential programs in southern Arizona. Program A (N=305) was eclectic in its basic counseling theory; program B (N=365) placed emphasis on Gestalt theory; and program C (N=58) stressed Adlerian theory, placing added importance on peer-group techniques. Data were obtained from county juvenile court records and from program personnel. There were no significant differences found between
When, in 1928, the Clarke School for the Deaf in Northampton, Massachusetts, opened a psychological research division, it was nothing unusual in a time fascinated with the sciences of education. Yet with its longstanding ties to Northamptons Smith College, the school was able to secure the collaboration of eminent Gestalt psychologist Kurt Koffka, who, in turn, engaged 2 more German-speaking emigrants, Margarete Eberhardt and social psychologist Fritz Heider, and Heiders American wife Grace Moore Heider. This collaboration has seen little attention from historians, who have treated Koffkas and Heiders time in Northampton as a transitory phase. I argue, however, that their research on deafness adds to the history of emigration and knowledge transfer between European and American Schools of psychology, and to historical understanding of the interrelation of Gestalt, child, and social psychology. Professionals in child studies and developmental psychology were keenly interested in the holistic ...

You seem to have some for your information confused. Im going to try and help you however be warned Im terrible at explaining, also id love to tell you about what has helped me in my journey with acne. The article does not state that you need to keep you pH around 1-4, the article states that your SKIN loves a pH of around 4. A pH of 1-3 is much too acidic and would probably burn your skin. A pH of 4 is ideal because its the pH that the good bacteria on your skin loves and will help to get rid of the bad bacteria or funguss etc. A lot of face washes companies on the market know this however there still are face washes on the market that have a higher ph. Abstract. The word Texture has a common use among spanish and english spoken musicians. However it seems to have a precise musical meaning for not a long time ago. For example: it didn´t appeared as such until 1954 in the Groves Dictionary of Music and Musicians edition, and it didn´t has a reference in the 1933 edition of the Oxford English Dictionary. And there´s a very similar situation in Spanish.. Despite this teminology lackness, texture, or sound simultaneity, is a central feature in music history. For example, the stilistics changes given in different historical moments gave place to a change in the textural treatment of the works. Furthermore, we can find different kinds of textures in the popular musical genres nowadays.. By means of an intuitive use, or by what is teached in institutions or by what is published in every book of musical language, we called texture to the study of sound simultaneity. The texture of a musical piece is related to the behaviour of it´s voices. The ...

The inaugural volume in the Issues of Diversity in Clinical Neuropsychology series, Principles of Neuropsychological Assessment with Hispanics sheds needed light on challenges specific to assessing members of this growing, diverse population. Beginning with evidence-based findings revealing intricate nonlinear relationships between culture and the brain, Antolin M. Llorente and a team of eight experts explore finely nuanced constructs of culture, ethnicity, race, and language among Hispanics in neurobehavioral and neurocognitive terms. The authors ably balance theory, research, and practical applications, and give ample space to ethical issues in the assessment of Latinos, indicating the ongoing need for bias-free procedures so that evaluations{u2014}and the treatment interventions that they generate{u2014}are accurate and valid. This paper presents a model of applied creativity which identifies the cognitive processes involved, and shows how they are related. Previous concepts of cognition, intelligence and learning are integrated with a number of significant themes in creativity research, and their relationships to the proposed model are discussed. Knowledge apprehension and knowledge utilization are identified as two bi-polar dimensions of cognitive activity involved in creative thinking. These two dimensions form the basis for a dynamic model of applied creativity, which identifies four distinct and successive stages of the creative process called generation, conceptualization, optimization, and implementation. Examples of how the model has been applied in organizational settings are provided, explaining how and why the theory works. Implications are discussed.. < Return to List ...

With an AT crystal, manufacturing tolerances will likely ensure that the inflection point slope is non zero whereas the same manufacturing tolerances will merely change the turnover temperature. Its likely that a more manufacturable design will result if one operates at a turnover point (with the oven temperature adjusted to the actual turnover) than trying to achieve a sufficiently low slope at an inflection point. Even for a one off design one the selection process required to achieve a sufficiently low slope at the inflection point may prove expensive. Bruce , , On 03 June 2017 at 09:51 Donald E. Interaction between the electron beam and the sample also produces characteristic X-rays, that have a wavelength and energy proportional to the atom from which they are produced. An electron from the primary beam causes an electron from the target atom to be ejected from its orbital shell. In response to the empty energy shell, another electron will cascade down to fill the lower energy position, in the process releasing energy in the form of a characteristic X-ray.. These characteristic X-rays can be detected by spectrometers to determined something about the sample composition. The Cameca SX-100 is equipped with 3 wavelength-dispersive spectrometers, which are used to separate and detect characteristic X-rays generated from the sample. X-rays are diffracted by a curved crystals of known interlayer spacing (D) (shown in blue on figure), and then detected by a gas-flow-proportional counter.. Our spectrometers contain three types of crystals:. ...
Now, a word or two more. These hypothetical E&M fields which intervene in vision (and ARE mental images, on my hypothesis) have some purposes which, on my hypothesis, cannot be achieved by simple electrical neural interactions. Specifically i conjecture that all of some of the following depend essentially on the existence of E&M fields in the brain: Stability of vision [the images on the retina jump around wildly even over short time frames], smoothing of visual perception [i believe it is pretty commonly felt among vision researchers that this is intrinsic to vision--again it is not the case with the retinal impulses], recognition of forms [which is taken to be algorithmic in the theory of neural nets, but i conjecture it is (must be?) more than this], in this regard, i mention well known and studied field effects of the Gestalt psychologists, etc, perception of space in the crude form of a sort of psychophysical synthetic a priori--the fields have images and location as part of them ...

Born in France and half Vietnamese, half French, Karam has worked as a therapist for more than 20 years. He trained in Gestalt, integrative psycotherapy and systemic therapy in Switzerland after a long stay in Poona, India, where he was introduced to the world of Osho, meditation, and emotional and body oriented therapy. He then explored this integrative approach more intensively with his mentor Veeresh, founder of the Humaniversity, the world-famous international centre for group therapy based in the Netherlands. He gained experience in working in psychosomatic clinics with people in crisis, and worked with adolescents in need of psychotherapeutic support. He is also trained in Somatic Experiencing, a revolutionary and cutting edge approach to trauma healing.. Chapter 17 discusses Vygotskys views on Gestalt. In 1933, Hitler enjoyed his victory in Germany and crushed the German Communist Party; also crushed was the early optimism of Soviet foreign policy, and political repression in the USSR rose (p.149). Blunden characterizes this time in Vygotskys life as a race against time, as by the early 30s, the dark clouds of Stalinist repression threatened to make scientific work impossible (p.149). Nevertheless, Vygotsky accomplished a lot. In particular, Blunden says, Vygotsky identified a unit of analysis for behavior, in general-an instrumental act (p.151). This unit of analysis is, of course, represented in the stimulus-response relationship with a mediator that can optionally come between the two: the first triangle (which you can see here, in Slide 12). The mediator in this triangle can be a physical or psychological tool, but in any case, it will be a cultural tool. And one of the most basic and protean tools we have is Speech-the use of a ...

We form most of our beliefs about ourselves and the world in childhood as we experience degrees of secure attachment to our caregivers; ruptures in attachment often catalyze unhealthy beliefs, and we must revisit these old thought/feelings as they arise in the moment to examine how they are serving us. We employ Gestalt techniques to help clarify and even exaggerate the uncomfortable feelings as they arise in session; with the clients permission we move through a guided process of feeling the feelings, naming the unhealthy beliefs about self that too often drive the bus of our behavior, and supporting the client to make their own positive choices, using their own positive language to literally change their mind about who they are in this world. The client experiences this with me directly in the moment, and in the case of couples counselling, with their partner as well, opening doors to deeper intimacy and mutual acceptance.. ...
Elenis poem is historical in the form in which she as subject relates to the land as subject. The presentation of her own character, along with the state of California as character, defines this history, this (t)history, in certain relations to a span of time reaching to its greatest extent and considered from a number of different perspectives, and as the coordination of them. As temporality this writing, so too as spatiality or as the geography that is naturally one of its aspects, relates to its subject in terms of a formation or perhaps Gestalt for which the concept of geometry, when she names it, serves as a clear, distinct, and appropriate metaphor. Her writing succeeds most importantly as a mapping of horizons, a precise drawing of the curve of horizon. The spatiality and temporality connect in the form that constitutes the historicity of her undertaking. The historicity of Elenis writing is worthy of Dasein in the sense that her existence is a defining and constitution of her place ...
