http://www.telegraph.co.uk/beauty/body/british-association-aesthetic-plastic-surgeons-fellowships/. Baaps announced a fellowship training programme for cosmetic surgery at their annual meeting which I attended last week. It is very true indeed that training in the NHS is sadly lacking. Many cosmetic surgery procedures that were fairly common in the NHS even ten years ago are simply not undertaken there anymore. As such, newly qualified consultants begin private practice with very little if any training in certain procedures. This is not right. Hopefully, more fellowships will appear. BAAPS has started the ball rolling.. In my practice, I undertake procedures I am happy performing. Breast augmentation, facelift, abdominoplasty I do quite happily. However, due to the nature and complexity of Rhinoplasty, I chose not to undertake them, even though I can do them and am perfectly competent.. Background: Despite evidence demonstrating similar operative experience in rural and urban residency programs, operative experience in rural fellowship programs is largely unknown. In addition, rural surgical care in the United States has been increasingly challenged by both a shortage of graduating residents remaining in general surgery as well as an urban/rural maldistribution adversely affecting access to surgery for rural populations. Two of the most rural minimally invasive surgery (MIS)/Bariatric fellowships are located in the upper Midwest. We hypothesized that these two programs would offer a similar operative experience to other U.S. programs in more urban locations, and that receiving fellowship training in a rural ...

In response to a question concerning our Barts-MS fellowship programme I have embedded details about what it entails below. Please note that at present we dont provide funding for these fellowships. Trainees wanting to join our centre have to be self-funding or apply for external funding. We can help trainees with their applications for the latter. Ideally, we like trainees to spend 12 months with us; it is very difficult to do any meaningful research in a period of less than 12 months. ...

The research is addressing the proximate factors affecting the evolution of mate choice and other behaviorally complex reproductive systems in insects. The split-family, half-sib design will reveal the nature of male courtship song and epicuticular hydrocarbon profiles that facilitate mate recognition and will also estimate heritability of courtship song and mate choice. This study integrates the roles of development, seasonal effects on epicuticular hydrocarbons, physical contact, and acoustic cues in insects that use acoustic and chemotactile mating cues ...
