This study examined the pattern of economic disparity in the modern contraceptive prevalence rate (mCPR) among women receiving contraceptives from the public and private health sectors in India, using data from all four rounds of the National Family Health Survey conducted between 1992-93 and 2015-16. The mCPR was measured for currently married women aged 15-49 years. A concentration index was calculated and a pooled binary logistic regression analysis conducted to assess economic disparity (by household wealth quintiles) in modern contraceptive use between the public and private health sectors. The analyses were stratified by rural-urban place of residence. The results indicated that mCPR had increased in India over time. However, in 2015-16 only half of women - 48% (33% from the public sector, 12% from the private sector, 3% from other sources) - were using any modern contraceptive in India. Over time, the economic disparity in modern contraceptive use reduced across both public and private ...
The worlds sixth most populous country, Pakistan contends with the risk of natural disasters, a large and growing youth bulge, and entrenched poverty and inequality, all of which pose significant challenges to delivering reproductive health services. The contraceptive prevalence rate has stagnated, along with a very low number of skilled-attendance at births. Through policy advocacy and national capacity development, UNFPA helps to accelerate progress on MDG5 for a quality and increased coverage of reproductive health and family planning services.

Evidence suggests that gender equality positively influences family planning. However, the evidence from urban Africa is sparse. This study aimed to examine the association between changes in gender norms and modern contraceptive use over time among women in urban Nigeria. Data were collected in 2010/2011 from 16,118 women aged 15-49 living in six cities in Nigeria (Abuja, Benin, Ibadan, Ilorin, Kaduna, and Zaria) and again in 2014 from 10,672 of the same women (34% attrition rate). The analytical sample included 9933 women living in 480 neighborhoods. A four-category outcome variable measured their change in modern contraceptive use within the study period. The exposure variables measured the changes in the level of gender-equitable attitudes towards: a) wife beating; b) household decision-making; c) couples family planning decisions; and d) family planning self-efficacy. Multilevel multinomial logistic regression models estimated the associations between the exposure variables at the individual and

After evaluating comments, we have decided to add an additional element to the final rule. Nonprofit employers who, based on religious beliefs, do not currently provide contraceptive coverage in their insurance plan, will be provided an additional year, until August 1, 2013, to comply with the new law. Employers wishing to take advantage of the additional year must certify that they qualify for the delayed implementation. This additional year will allow these organizations more time and flexibility to adapt to this new rule. We intend to require employers that do not offer coverage of contraceptive services to provide notice to employees, which will also state that contraceptive services are available at sites such as community health centers, public clinics, and hospitals with income-based support. We will continue to work closely with religious groups during this transitional period to discuss their concerns. ...
In addition to actively preventing UTIs by trying some of the tips above, it sounds like you are also interested in changing up your birth control method. Before that, however, I think it might be helpful to take a step back and assess your attitudes around certain types of birth control with regards to being in a long-term relationship. You mentioned that using hormonal birth control or barriers are a drag because you are in a long-term relationship. Have you given any thought as to why you feel that way? Everyones body is different, and you might find that the birth control method that works the best for your and your body is a method that you have not given full consideration to, simply because of your relationship status. Many people (myself included) have used barrier methods consistently as a form of birth control while in a long-term relationship, because of the benefits of using that particular method (low cost, accessibility, STI protection, and more). Talking to your kids about sex can be daunting, no matter how close you are. But discussing issues like abstinence, sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), and birth control can help lower teens risk of an unintended pregnancy or contracting an STD.. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) supports sex education that includes information about both abstinence and birth control. Research has shown that this information doesnt increase kids level of sexual activity, but actually promotes and increases the proper use of birth control methods among sexually active teens.. How and when you discuss sex and birth control is up to you. Providing the facts is vital, but its also wise to tell your kids where you stand. Remember, by approaching these issues like any other health topics, not as something dirty or embarrassing, you increase the odds that your kids will feel comfortable coming to you with any questions and problems. As awkward as it might feel, answer questions honestly. And if you dont ...
A new report has revealed that it would cost an average of 25 dollars to provide a package of essential sexual and reproductive health services to each woman between 15 and 49 years, in developing regions, annually.. This is roughly double the current level of spending, the report, released by the Guttmacher Institute in collaboration with UNFPA, tilted Adding It Up: The Costs and Benefits of Investing in Sexual and Reproductive Health 2014, has said. Sexuality is a critical part of normal human development and requires special respect and attention. Our goal is to help young people develop a healthy sense of their sexuality along with the ability to make self-protective decisions in this important aspect of their lives. We actively promote conversations around healthy relationships, avoiding unhealthy/controlling/abusive relationships, and deferral of sexual activity until young people are developmentally ready to handle this responsibly. We provide education about sexual risks including sexually transmitted diseases and potential pregnancy. We take a comprehensive approach to sexuality education and will include teaching about condoms and birth control when appropriate. We especially encourage and educate parents about having helpful, open dialogue with their children around sexuality so that they may serve as a resource to them when they have questions or worries about sex.. Contraceptive services we provide at our offices include:. ...

I've been pretty tired even when I get enough sleep and I pee more than usual it seems. Ive been cramping and maybe a little more hungry and I noticed some light brownish discharge yesterday but now I don't have it. Ive been on the depo birth control shot for a month and we don't use condoms but he usually pulls out. Except one time about two weeks ago. I've also not had my period this month and am about 16 days late. Is this normal or could I be pregnant? I heard the shot can give you pregnancy signs even if you're not. So is it possible that I am even though I'm on birth control? It feels like I'm on my period but I'm not. Any advice would help. Thanks in advance!
