The Indians use it as an application to wounds. It compares as a vulnerary with Arnica. It has been proved by Burt and others. The throat and genito-urinary organs are specifically affected. Sensation as if something had lodged in upper part of sophagus. Pains in umbilical region were very prominent. Feeling as if anus had been torn. Urination is painful or suppressed; sharp stinging pains in region of left kidney. Gonorrh a and gleet have been cured by Erig. Wilmot Moore has given it with success in three cases of placenta pr via. He gave ...

Invasive species in urban areas create numerous direct and indirect damages. Invasive flora has not been systematically studied either on the territory of the Republic of Croatia, nor in the area of the town of Velika Gorica. This paper brings the representation of invasive species in the town of Velika Gorica and its surroundings. After conducting the field research, collection of invasive species, photo documentation, determination and herbarization of inventoried species followed. Topographic maps were made using the recorded GPS coordinates. 18 invasive species from 14 families were identified. According to the number of findings, the most numerous species is the Erigeron annuus (L.) Pers. and the most numerous family is the Asteraceae. Based on the literature and practices of the investigated area, it was determined that the inventoried species are used for food, medicinal, honey, ornamental and herbage purposes, as well as in various industries, also they possess the property of allelopathy ...
Scutellarin, an anti-inflammatory agent, effectively suppressed microglia activation in rats with middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO). Robust microglia activation, acute in onset, was followed by astrogliosis. This study was aimed to determine if scutellarin would also affect the reactive astrocytes that play an important role in tissue repair. Expression of GFAP and Notch-1 and its members: Notch receptor intracellular domain (NICD), and transcription factor hairy and enhancer of split-1 (HES-1), together with nestin and proinflammatory mediators was assessed by immunofluorescence staining in TNC1 astrocytes treated, respectively, with BV-2 conditioned medium (CM) and CM + lipopolysaccharide (LPS) (CM + L) serving as the controls, and conditioned medium derived from LPS-activated BV-2 cells pretreated with scutellarin (CM + SL). Study of the above biomarkers was then extended to reactive astrocytes in scutellarin injected MCAO rats. TNC1 astrocytes remained relatively unreactive in terms of

Scutellarin [scutellarein-7-O-glucuronide (S-7-G)] displayed a unique pharmacokinetic profile in humans after oral administration: the original compound was hardly detected, whereas its isomeric metabolite isoscutellarin [scutellarein-6-O-glucuronide (S-6-G)] had a markedly high exposure. Previous rat study revealed that S-7-G and S-6-G in the blood mainly originated from their aglycone in enterocytes, and that the S-7-G/S-6-G ratio declined dramatically because of a higher hepatic elimination of S-7-G. In the present study, metabolite profiling in human excreta demonstrated that the major metabolic pathway for S-6-G and S-7-G was through further glucuronidation. To further understand the cause for the exposure difference between S-7-G and S-6-G in humans, studies were conducted to uncover mechanisms underlying their formation and elimination. In vitro metabolism study suggested that S-7-G was formed more easily but metabolized more slowly in human intestinal and hepatic microsomes. Efflux ...

Properties: Astringent, stimulant.. Use: One of our best remedies to control post partum hemorrhages. In flooding during miscarriage, in menorrhagia, and, in fact, in all forms of passive hemorrhages it is a fine remedy. May be combined with hamamelis or erigeron or both to advantage. This will control most passive hemorrhages better than other combinations. Of value in epistaxis. It works best in the parturient state where there is a condition of atony and a general relaxed condition of the uterus. In hematuria and pulmonary hemorrhage it is of great value. It sometimes irritates the stomach and is contra-indicated in inflammation of the gastro-intestinal tract.. ...

Age and certain neurodegenerative diseases reduce an individuals ability to walk safely and efficiently. Consequently, gait observation and quantification is potentially a powerful tool to identify incipient pathology, contribute towards diagnostic algorithms, and quantify intervention efficiency (lord, 2013). An emerging perspective is that the movement of upper body during gait plays a critical role in successful locomotion and may provide useful information for the elderly/pathologies due to its relation to critical aspects of walking, such as maintenance of balance, reduction of tissue mechanical loads, and energy efficiency. Healthy individuals adopt a head stabilization in space strategy during walking. This strategy, quantified by a reduction of body segment accelerations going from pelvis to head level, is already in place in pre-pubertal age (Mazzà, 2010), and is compromised in elderly women (Mazzà, 2008). Furthermore the control of the upper body has been found to be impaired ...
