IN THE KITCHEN. Many cases of foodborne illness are caused by the consumption of ready-to-eat foods contaminated by poor handling techniques and the cross contamination between raw and finished food products. Seventy-five million cases of foodborne illness occur each year in the United States; of these cases, 325,000 hospitalizations and 5,000 deaths resulted according to a 1999 study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). These statistics are particularly frightening, considering that food service in hospitals impacts a large group of immunosuppressed individuals who are open to opportunistic pathogens. A team of researchers at the North Carolina State University and Research Triangle Institute decided to estimate the degree of risk to human health posed by cross contamination during food preparation and conducted an exposure assessment to address the likelihood and routes of transmitting Salmonella and Campylobacter jejuni during food handling. Various food-handling scenarios ...
TY - JOUR. T1 - An assessment of, and response to, potential cross contamination routes due to defective appliance water trap seals in building drainage systems. AU - Gormley, Michael. AU - Swaffield, J.A.. AU - Sleigh, P.A.. AU - Noakes, C.J.. PY - 2011. Y1 - 2011. N2 - The outbreak of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), centred on Southeast Asia in 2002 and 2003, sparked fears of an uncontrollable pandemic. The outbreak at one housing complex in Hong Kong resulted in a disproportionately large number of cases with 321people contracting the virus, resulting in 42 fatalities. This outbreak led to an investigation by World Health Organisation, which firmly laid the blame for the spread of the virus in the housing complex on defects in the building drainage and vent system. The mode of viral transmission was identified as due to airborne aerosolised particles from virus-laden excreta emanating from the drainage system. The aerosolised particles were allowed to enter the habitable space ...

Cross contamination is a major problem in a multi product manufacturing facility. This problem can multiply into major problem in a bulk drug manufacturing facility as cross contamination in one batch may end up in several batches. Hence cleaning validation is of utmost importance in these facilities. The present study was under taken to assess the effectiveness of cleaning procedure being used in one of the WHO approved Pharmaceutical plant in Gujarat having common facilities for manufacture of dosage forms of Beta Lactam group of antibiotics where there is a risk of potential hazards of cross contamination. Cleaning validation studies were carried according to the cleaning validation protocol. The study showed good swabs recovery (91.84 %). The actives residue values on different sampling point were found within acceptance limit of 10mcg/sqcm recommended by USFDA guidelines and Lilly criteria. It may be concluded that the cleaning procedure being used in Beta Lactam manufacturing plant was found
Cross contamination is basically defined in two ways. One is that there is a microbiological contamination from a more susceptible food product into a lesser susceptible one. Another one is that when an ingredient or component of one food is found to be present into another food of which it is technically neither an ingredient nor a component. The easiest and most relevant example is cross contamination between products with egg and that without egg. Also in bakeries there are products like vegetable puff and chicken puff or a vegetable pizza and a non-vegetable pizza which not only differ micobiologically but in a religiously sensitive country like ours can have consequences unthought off. Some simple measures to address prevention of such occurrences could be ...

Rutgers graduate student Robyn Miranda and friend of barfblog (and podcast co-host extraordinaire) Don Schaffner tackled the 5-second rule in a more systematic way and put out a press release today after the paper went through peer-review and was published (cuz thats how Schaffner rolls). The quick answer to whether the oft-cited risk prevention step is a myth? The five-second rule is a significant oversimplification of what actually happens when bacteria transfer from a surface to food. Bacteria can contaminate instantaneously.. Turns out bacteria may transfer to candy that has fallen on the floor no matter how fast you pick it up.. Rutgers researchers have disproven the widely accepted notion that its OK to scoop up food and eat it within a safe five-second window. Donald Schaffner, professor and extension specialist in food science, found that moisture, type of surface and contact time all contribute to cross-contamination. In some instances, the transfer begins in less than one second. ...

Most foodborne illnesses are believed to originate in the home. Reuse of bags creates an opportunity for cross contamination of foods. The purpose of this study was to assess the potential for cross contamination of food products from reusable bags used to carry groceries. Reusable bags were collected at random from consumers as they entered grocery stores in California and Arizona. In interviews it was found that reusable bags are seldom if ever washed and often used for multiple purposes. Large numbers of bacteria were found in almost all bags and coliform bacteria in half. Escherichia coli were identified in 12% of the bags and a wide range of enteric bacteria, including several opportunistic pathogens. When meat juices were added to bags and stored in the trunks of cars for two hours the number of bacteria increased 10-fold indicating the potential for bacterial growth in the bags. Hand or machine washing was found to reduce the bacteria in bags by ,99.9%. These results indicate that ...

I hated feeling left out at parties and social events when a delicious dish came out that had everyone raving. I hated the feeling that I had to be constantly vigilant - or risk spending the night in the bathroom or doubled over in pain after getting accidentally glutened. After taking MegaSporeBiotic for only a few weeks, I noticed a complete shift in my digestive health: Suddenly, I wasnt reacting to gluten cross contamination at all (and I used to have an anaphylactic reaction if there was any cross contamination).
Professional bodies and Institutes CPD schemes are either structured as Input or Output based. Input based schemes list a precise number of CPD hours that individuals must achieve within a given time period. These schemes can also use different currencies such as points, merits, units or credits, where an individual must accumulate the number required. These currencies are usually based on time i.e. 1 CPD point = 1 hour of learning. Output based schemes are learner centred. They require individuals to set learning goals that align to professional competencies, or personal development objectives. These schemes also list different ways to achieve the learning goals e.g. training courses, seminars or e:learning, which enables an individual to complete their CPD through their preferred mode of learning. The majority of Input and Output based schemes actively encourage individuals to seek appropriate CPD activities independently. As a formal provider of CPD certified activities, SMI Group ...

Believe me mylene, I know where you are coming from on the peanut allergy thing. My oldest daughter will have access to a peanut free school, where my little one will not have access to school free of her allergens (milk/egg/chicken). I know that she will be around her allergens in the school environment, and my oldest will not be in that situation and yes, it is frustrating that it is treated so differently. However, the peanut one tends to take less exposure and tends to be more severe. I was advised by my allergist to make the house peanut/nut free, but that milk/egg/chicken was a family decision and that they are more managable, and that cross contamination would probably require more exposure than with nuts, and would not escalate into as serious a situation. Cross contamination proved to be too easily done, and we removed all allergens completely ...

W. Allan Walker, MD, Professor of Pediatrics and Conrad Taff Professor of Nutrition, Harvard Medical School; Director, Division of Nutrition, Harvard Medical School; and Professor of Nutrition, Harvard School of Public Health. Over the first year of the project, Dr. Walker and his team established the importance of nutrients in breastmilk (complex carbohydrates and tryptophan) interacting with either breastmilk microbiota or microbiota in the infant gut, stimulated by exclusive breastfeeding. In two submitted manuscripts, they showed that breastmilk-induced microbiota, e.g., pioneer bacteria, can metabolise breastmilk nutrients for protective functionality. For instance, short chained fatty acids produced by intestinal bacterial metabolism of complex carbohydrates of breastmilk have a unique protective effect on the immature intestine. They also identified indole-lactic acid (ILA), a metabolic product of breastmilk tryptophan interacting with Bifidobateria infantis (a pioneer bacterium); ILA ...

Purpose Preparation of parenteral medication in hospitals is a complex process with a risk of microbial contamination of the product, especially when inappropriately prepared. Contaminated parenteral medications can cause severe complications to patients and increase morbidity in hospitals. The aim of this literature review is to systematically evaluate the contamination rate of parenteral medications in hospitals prepared in a pharmacy environment and a clinical environment.. Methods A literature search of PubMed and EMBASE from 2000 to 2018 was performed. Two different environments where preparation may be carried out were defined. Point estimates and 95% confidence intervals for contamination rates were calculated for each environment of medication preparation. The meta-analysis was performed using a random effects model.. Results The contamination rates in the clinical environment (n = 13 studies) varied between 1.09 and 20.70%. In the pharmacy environment (n = 5), all contamination rates ...

The hospital compartment. Traditionally, hospitals have been considered the main reservoir of antimicrobial-resistant bacteria. The intestinal tract is the main reservoir of resistant bacteria among hospitalized patients. As previously stated, a recognized collateral effect of antimicrobial therapy is the possible selection of resistant microbiota. This altered microbiota may contaminate the hospital environment and from there it reaches other patients and surfaces via cross contamination. Around 20%-40% of nosocomial infections can be mainly attributed to cross-infection via the hands of healthcare personnel.34 Less frequently, patients can become colonized with nosocomial pathogens by direct contact with contaminated surfaces or equipment. In some cases, the extent of patient-to-patient transmission has been found to be directly proportional to the level of environmental contamination. Moreover, inadequate environmental cleaning and hygiene help maintain these microorganisms in the ...

Candida auris is a fungal pathogen that has recently emerged as an important cause for nosocomial infection around the world. It is frequently found to be resistant antifungal medication and can result in prolonged colonization of patients skin and contamination of surrounding environments. The likelihood of cross contamination and survival on surfaces can lead to nosocomial outbreaks in hospitals and long-term care facilities.. The Canadian government and the CDC recommend placement of colonized or infected patients in single rooms with routine contact precautions; daily and terminal environmental disinfection with a sporicidal agent, like Nocospray.1. Public Health Ontario Provincial Infectious Disease Advisory Committee (PIDAC) in addition to enhanced daily cleaning and disinfection suggest that facilities with access to no-touch disinfection technologies like Nocospray can use these to augment their standard efforts.2. Studies show that surface probes are frequently used in semi-critical procedures, but often inadequately disinfected in clinical practice, as they are not properly recognized as being semi-critical.1,2. A recent study detected the prevalence of blood contamination and microbial contamination on ultrasound equipment used in emergency and ICU departments: these departments commonly use surface probes in semi-critical and critical applications.1. Results showed that 57% of probes tested positive for blood contamination, and 46% for microbial contamination. Only 51% of the blood-contaminated probes were visibly stained.. Ultrasound probes that could come into contact with blood and sterile tissue should undergo a HLD process as a minimum and be used with a sterile sheath.. A separate survey of emergency departments in the United States recently demonstrated the variability in surface probe disinfection protocols. 2. It was also recently shown that 21% of ultrasound probe bodies are still ...

Back in 2009, we reported on the problem of cell line contamination (1). In that article we reported the statistics that an estimated 15-20% of the time, the cell lines used by researchers are misidentified or cross-contaminated with another cell line (1). This presents a huge problem for the interpretation of data and the reproducibility of experiments, a key pillar in the process of science. We have revisited this topic several times, highlighting the issues cell and tissue repositories have discovered with cell lines submitted to them (2) and discussing the new guidelines issued by ANSI (3,4) for researchers regarding when during experimental processes cell lines should be authenticated and what methods are acceptable for identifying cell lines.. Just recently two papers were voluntarily retracted by their authors because of cross contamination among cell lines used in the laboratories. The first that came to my attention represented the first retraction from Nature Methods in its nine years ...

Increasing research indicates that patient bath basins are a source of bacteria and pose a threat of cross contamination. Bacteria exist in hospital water supplies and hospital staff can transmit bacteria both into and via water. In addition, reusable washcloths can spread harmful bacteria during bathing when bacteria are transferred to the basin and returned to the patient. Patients who have surgical wounds or skin breakdown are prone to acquire HAIs from bath water.. Justine OFlynn, RN, infection control liaison at Kosair Childrens Hospital in Louisville, Ky., took some time via email to discuss research she has conducted with hospital bath basins and the steps her hospital has taken to reduce organism spread, cross contamination and HAI risk.. Q: Can you provide some background information on hospital-associated infections that can help readers understand the scope of the problem?. A: The vast majority of people go into a hospital with very little concept of how easy it can be to pick up a ...
Unlike other more complex organisms, Hydra have no bowel in the true sense of the word. Their simple body cavity assumes, amongst other things, the function of a digestive tract; the surrounding tissue also exhibits the typical contractions associated with more highly-developed intestines.. To find out how peristalsis is regulated in the freshwater polyps, the researchers compared normal Hydra which had typical bacterial colonisation with those that had their microbiome completely removed with an antibiotic cocktail. In comparison, these organisms without bacterial colonisation - also referred to as germ-free polyps - exhibited a reduction in contractions by about half. At the same time, the rhythm of the movements became disrupted, and some of the breaks between the contractions were much longer. Thus, the absence of the typical microbiome in Hydra compromised the peristaltic movements in the body cavity.. In a further step, the scientists restored the specific bacterial colonisation in the ...

There is a risk of cross contamination if the same piece of complex equipment is used to process raw and RTE foods, said the UK Food Standards Agency (FSA).. The revised guidance clarifies that businesses do not have to have separate areas for handling raw and ready-to-eat foods (RTE) where they can demonstrate effective cleaning and disinfection will manage the risk of cross contamination.. Less complex equipment, such as temperature probes, mixers and weighing scales, may be used for raw and RTE foods as long as it can be shown that equipment will be effectively cleaned and disinfected between uses.. Chemical or heat disinfection. Risk may be adequately controlled by an effective cleaning and disinfection process, but requires that all surfaces that could potentially be contaminated directly or indirectly, have the required chemical or heat disinfection.. In patients with chronic gastrointestinal tract failure, requiring access to the venous system, the subsequent catheter re-insertion are leading to large veins thrombosis impeding or preventing the insertion of another catheter and exposing patients to the risk of complications. Understanding the pathophysiology of catheter-related infections, enabled to use methods allowing to eradicate the source of infection without removal and replacement of central catheter with a new one. In our center, for many years we have been using an alternative method involving implementation of the alcohol-antibiotic lock in the treatment of infections. This method is based on the assumption that the destruction of biofilm with concentrated alcohol will enable antibiotic penetration and killing other microorganisms. Treatment with alcohol-antibiotic lock lasts from 8 to 10 days and involves filling the catheter with 96% alcohol followed by a solution of the antibiotic of high concentration.. The aim of the study ...

On every occasion, a cell that is maintained in a laboratory faces the risk of contamination with another cell, particularly a rapidly growing and continuous cell line. The first case of cross-contamination in cell culture was reported in 1950s and since then cross contamination (and accidental co-culture) remains a disturbing issue in cell culture laboratories, as contamination of a cell line with another cell line is not readily detectable like the bacterial and fungal contamination.. Among the various cell contaminants, HeLa, the oldest and most commonly used human cell line that was derived from the cervical cancer cells from Henrietta Lacks, taken by George Gey, is perhaps the commonest contaminating cell in cell culture laboratories. The International Cell Line Authentication Committee (ICLAC) database of 475 Cross-Contaminated or Misidentified Cell Lines - originally developed by Amanda Capes-Davis and Ian Freshney (published in 2010) and curated by ICLAC - lists 138 different cell ...

An increase in the number of hepatitis A notification was observed in Hong Kong recently. Hepatitis A is an infection caused by hepatitis A virus (HAV) leading to inflammation of the liver cells. HAV can be transmitted by contaminated food, water or environmental surfaces, and through direct or indirect person-to-person contact. The consumption of raw or undercooked shellfish contaminated with the HAV is one of the common causes of infection, but other food items could also be implicated. In the latter scenario, a recent outbreak of hepatitis A in Australia was epidemiologically linked to consumption of a brand of frozen berries. (Investigation by the Centre for Food Safety found that the affected frozen berries have not been imported into Hong Kong.) Furthermore, cross contamination and poor personal hygiene of food handlers may contribute to the spread of HAV. Anyone who has not been previously infected with or is not immune to hepatitis A can contract the infection, and infection in children ...
Bacterial contamination of water can come from many different sources; waste or faecal matter are two possible sources, as are insects that land in stagnant water. But how do you know if water is safe to drink? Heres an experiment you can do at home to test water safety.. There are two easy tests that can be done at home to see if it is drinkable.. Firstly, you can test for pH, which shows how acidic (low pH) or alkaline (high pH) a liquid is. Drinking water typically has a neutral pH (pH7) which can change slightly depending on the area in which you live. Changes in water pH can be an indicator of contamination of the water supply. Certain bacteria will make water more acidic as they grow in them, but pH is also a good indicator of contamination from other sources, particularly chemicals which shouldnt be there.. The second test for bacterial contamination is done by growing bacteria on an agar plates, a technique done in most biological labs, hospitals or water treatment companies. Agar is a ...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IEyU-3OpE-A Food poisoning is a condition that is caused by ingesting contaminated foods. Contamination may be either from viruses, bacteria, toxins, parasites or chemicals. Contamination may occur where the food is prepared, especially when it was not handled well. This can happen at any point in time during the production of food and cross contamination of food occurs. This ... Read more › ...

Whole spices dont spoil, but they do begin to lose their flavor after four years. Ground spices fade in less than half that time.. The same wisdom applies to storing spices as to most things: Store your spices in a cool dark place and in a sealed container. Oxidation is the greatest enemy of spices. I havent been able to find any authoritative research on the relative advantages of keeping spices in the freezer. One school of thought says that any advantages will be offset by the exposure to moisture when the container is taken out of the freezer and opened. Others, of course, claim this is an excellent practice.. Glass containers protect the contents but make sure they also have strong air tight lids. To guard against cross contamination of odors and flavors, avoid putting bags of different spices in the same sealed container. Some people even take the trouble to vacuum seal spices in mason jars, which makes good sense when maintaining a large reservoir, then refilling smaller containers for ...

Clean vs. dirty is a concept that seems easy enough to understand. You know your jeans are dirty when they get grass stains on them, because you can easily see the stains. Seeing bacteria on your food is a different story. All foodborne bacteria are microscopic and cant be seen with the naked eye, making it difficult to know if your foods have been cross-contaminated. Bacteria may come into contact with our foods from contaminated cooking equipment, utensils and even our hands. According to the 2016 FDA Food Safety Survey (PDF, 530 KB) Americans are doing well to prevent cross contamination from some common sources, but not all.. ...

There is also a stereomicroscope available for looping and mounting crystals prior to data collection ...
Did you know that nearly half of all antibiotics prescribed to patients are not needed? When you take an antibiotic that you do not need or that is too strong for the infection being treated, antibiotic resistance occurs. This means the bacteria can learn how to stop the medication from killing them. Thus, you could become susceptible to an infection that are resistant to antibiotics, which happens to at least 2 million people in the United States each year, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).. Clostridium difficile, or C. diff, is a type of bacteria that can be found in our intestines. C. diff infections are generally caused by antibiotic use and spread by cross contamination. Some antibiotics, a necessity in healthcare, can cause a C. diff infection. However, an antibiotic is not needed for every illness. When taking antibiotics, remember to 1. Never take antibiotics not prescribed to you by your provider; 2. If you are prescribed an antibiotic, take it as ...

All Steps - Notes and how to streamlining the process for large numbers of samples. • Nebulization. If you must use nebulizers, you can make a multi-sample manifold (diagram upon request) to process several samples at once. Weve found that 2 minutes at 45 psi N2 gives a better shear distribution (median of ~450 bp) than the Illumina recommended settings (6 min at 32 psi). • Isolating DNA from nebulizer (step 1). The large volumes of the nebulizer are best cleaned using methods designed for large volumes. We use the MoBio UltraClean15 kit (Mo Bio, #12100-300, $123/300 preps) to isolate the sheared DNA. The nebulized sample can be processed in one 2 ml tube, reducing the opportunity for cross contamination. • Cleaning of DNAs from enzymatic steps (2, 3, 4, 6). Agencourt AMPure beads (#000130) are fast, efficient, and bind small primers and adapter complexes poorly (leading to better library enrichment). Processing requires a relatively expensive magnet for separation (Agencourt #29164); ...

We did observe virus-like symptoms in certain plants. Necrosis and die-off happened in almost every color we trialed. One breeder noted that these types of nemesia are very susceptible to virus infection and many cultural problems stem from this infection. Proper handling and sanitation at a grower level will help avoid cross contamination with other varieties. Growers should also closely monitor their cutting supply and notify suppliers when plant material is suspect of infection.. Distinguishing Among Series. Pacific Plug & Liner trialed the following series: Sunsatia (Proven Winners), Serengeti (Selecta First Class), Angelart (Fides North America) and Nemesis (Westhoff). There were notable differences among all the series, with each line having superior selections. All series except for Angelart had both trailing and upright or mounding varieties.. All varieties were treated the same culturally. We planted 105 rooted liners in 4-inch containers in week five. Plants were pinched once and ...
It also isnt currently required by law in Canada that manufacturers label for possible cross contamination with allergens. So even if a ban on may contains existed, to depend upon labels without the may contain statement as being safe ultimately means falsely assuming the food doesnt contain traces of the allergen and in the end can actually pose a risk to the allergic child. All of the children in my sons class are required to wash their hands before snack/lunch and afterwards. Tables are sprayed and wiped down after each meal. There is a rule against food sharing. No food is allowed to be consumed in the yard during recess times. I personally think this approach provides a safe environment for my son. I agree that you dont want to needlessly restrict others in ways that make them feel that they are unable or unwilling to comply with any rules at all about food. I am able to volunteer at my sons school during lunch time to help supervise -- I must say that I feel that a more ...

Theres the containment aspect. The safety aspect. The technical aspect. And thats not even taking into consideration the intangibles. Theres a lot that goes into a typical sewage cleanup job, from containing the affected area so that theres no cross contamination, to protecting yourself from exposure to fecal matter and blood borne pathogens, to dealing with adjusters who just want to pay you for a Category 1 or 2 loss when youre unquestionably dealing with a Category 3 loss, (for more on this, see Dave . . .

More people are being diagnosed with food sensitivities in recent years. This may be due to better diagnostics, in addition to the fact that the actual numbers of affected individuals is on a rapid incline.. In this presentation, we will discuss and clarify many aspects related to food allergies including the major food allergens, allergens that must be claimed on a label according to the FDA, the difference between a sensitivity and a true allergy, symptoms caused by these reactions, IGG vs IGE, histamine and antihistamines, and research linking pesticides and GMOs to allergic reactions, especially since there is a cross contamination between species. The importance of leaky gut syndrome as both a cause and effect of food sensitivities will be explored. We will also investigate natural foods, herbs, supplements, and homeopathics that can offset the allergic response, and the use of simple techniques such as muscle testing to help sensitive individuals avoid offending substances.. Tuition: $ ...
This past year a girl in Canada who was severly allergic to peanuts kissed her boyfriend, who had eaten a peanut butter and jelly sandwich about an hour before. She promptly dropped dead in minutes. But how did she die if she wasnt the one eating the offending food? Nuts have oils and other allergic foods, such as shellfish have juices on the flesh that can cause the same allergic reactions. Cross contamination is a HUGE issue with this. Another man in an Italian restaurant, I believe here in NJ, died within a few minutes after eating a couple bites of a pasta dish. This man was allergic to shellfish. The dish he was ordering normally had shrimp in it. Even though he made it clear to the server that he had an allergy, the cook forgot. Instead of remaking the dish, he simply picked out the shrimp...and tragedy ensued. Individuals who are this allergic to a certain food should never, EVER be without an epi pen. While an epi pen is not a cure for an allergic reaction (use of an epi pen should ...
Digestive parasites are highly contagious especially if both cats use the same litter box. And if this should be TF (and I suggested that test due to the blood you mentioned), then there is ONE drug only that can treat it and it is so hard to get rid of due to the cross contamination that can continue on for weeks with both cats. One member here had to have her cats boarded at the vet and separated for two weeks to get it treated. Im not saying that is what your kitties have ... but its obviously a parasite of some sort. Most are easily treatable with medication and are cured in just 10 days or so. The key is the keep the litter box squeaky clean -- and because you have at least two cats, you need multiple litter boxes. Both cats need to be treated as the parasite will continue to come back to the other cat. {{{HUGS}}} to you as I know this is not an easy process ...

Acoustics-based tweezers recently attracted the attention of the biomedical research community as a versatile toolset for the manipulation of bioparticles with unprecedented flexibility and biocompatibility. Among the various particle manipulation techniques, including optical (1), electrical (2-6), and hydrodynamic force-based methods (7, 8), acoustics-based tweezers exhibit the unique combination of advantages including versatile particle manipulation, contactless modality that minimizes cross contamination, and biocompatibility (9-11) in terms of handling fragile samples such as exosomes, stem cells, zebrafish, and embryos. Now, most well-established acoustics-based tweezers rely on acoustic radiation forces as the main driving forces for particle manipulation (12-23). However, precise control of the accompanying effect of, and interactions due to, acoustic streaming has not been explored in detail. Acoustic streaming is the steady flow generated by wave propagation in a fluid after ...
It has been one and a half months since my biopsy. It took me a little longer to decide upon and choose a treatment.. After much research and sitting on the fence between Robotic DaVinci Surgery and EBRT, I chose EBRT with Calypso markers. This was a tough choice as I know that with radiation therapy, failure leaves few options. So I did my homework and needed to feel confident in the success rate of my therapy choice. In the end it came down to looking at surgery as an opportunity for cross contamination via blood as we know that PCa cells can be carried thru our blood to other organs or bones. [There appear to be no reliable studies that demonstrate this oft-stated belief to be true.] If such were to occur then radiation therapy is there to hopefully save the day. Dont get me wrong, I am not overjoyed with the harmful effects of radiation. Calypso is designed to and has proven success with limiting collateral damage. Surgery, while very successful, wasnt something that I looked forward to. ...
