Introduction: We often see patients with a thin endometrium in ART cycles, in spite of standard and adjuvant treatments. Improving endometrial growth in patients with a thin endometrium is very difficult. Without adequate endometrial thickness these patients, likely, would not have reached embryo transfer. Materials and Methods: This is a non randomized intervential clinical trial. Among 68 infertile patients with thin endometrium (7 mm) at the 12th-13th cycle day, 34 patients received G-CSF (300 microgram/lmL) to improve endometrial thickness. It was directly administered by slow intrauterine infusion using IUI catheter. If the endometrium had not reached at least a 7-mm within 48-72 h, a second infusion was given. The aim of the study was to assess the effectiveness of progesterone (P) administered by nasal spray (NS) in inducing secretory changes within estrogen and non-estrogen primed postmenopausal endometrium. Ten healthy post-menopausal women before vaginal hysterectomy for prolapse were randomly treated by either oral estrogens for 3-4 weeks combined for the last 5-7 days with nasally administered P at the daily dose of 34 mg, or by only P for 6 days. Leptin (Lep) is known for its involvement in the regulation of reproductive functions. It is important for uterine receptivity, implantation, placental growth and maternal energy homeostasis in several species, but Leps function in the pregnant dog has not been investigated. Pregnant bitches were ovariohysterectomized at pre-implantation, post-implantation, mid-gestation and prepartum luteolysis. Two additional groups were treated with aglepristone in mid-gestation, and ovariohysterectomized 24 or 72 h later. Lep and leptin receptor (LepR) gene expression was detected by semi-quantitative real-time PCR in pre-implantation and inter-placental uterine sections (Ut) and in utero-placental compartments (Ut/Pl). Immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridization (ISH) were performed for Lep and LepR protein and mRNA localization. To this end we have recently found that the molecule ICON developed by Hu and Garen has been successful in eradicating endometriotic lesions in a mouse model of endometriosis. This occurs by destroying the aberrant vasculature supporting the disease. Lately I have become interested in reproductive immunology and am part of a program project directed by Dr. Gil Mor in which I study the maternal part of the innate immune system during implantation.
