The objective of the study was to assess the safety and efficacy of conservative laparoscopic electrocoagulation adenomyolysis (CLEA) in the management of women with symptomatic adenomyosis. The study design is prospective observational study. The setting was Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Mansoura University Hospital. Thirty-nine premenopausal women, complaining of chronic pelvic pain and/or menorrhagia, were diagnosed to have adenomyosis by transvaginal ultrasonography (TVS) and/or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), between June 2008 and June 2011. They were subjected to laparoscopic multiple uterine unipolar electrocoagulation diathermy punctures aiming at adenomyolysis. Women were evaluated before and at 3, 6, and 12 months after the procedure. Main outcome is the magnitude of pain by using the visual analog scale (VAS) and the overall patient self satisfaction as assessed by short form 36 (SF-36) questionnaires; secondary outcome is the uterine volume as measured by TVS. No adenocarcinoma (cancer) or high-grade dysplasia of the esophagus developed in any of the study patients. This is the largest published series and longest follow-up of patients with nondysplastic Barretts esophagus who underwent ablation therapy with multipolar electrocoagulation. We analysed the outcomes of 191 patients who showed rebleeding after initial endoscopic haemostasis and received endoscopic therapy with heater probe thermocoagulation. . A total of 191 patients showing rebleeding received heater probe thermocoagulation. After re-therapy, 158 patients (82.7%) achieved ultimate haemostasis. The array includes conductive regions separated by insulated regions arranged to produce ablation to a predetermined depth. Following placement of the ablation device into contact with the tissue to be ablated, in RF generator is used to deliver RF energy to the conductive regions and to thereby induce current flow from the electrodes to tissue to be ablated. Our hypothesis is that small-diameter instruments, can be used in combination with conventional 5-mm laparoscopic instruments to perform laparoscopic ovariectomy in small dogs. Therefore, the objective of the study was to compare and analyse surgical times, bleeding rate, laparoscopic vision, perioperative complications and the influence of obesity on surgical time in three groups. For this, 60 canine females were randomly selected and assigned to three groups of 20 animals each. In the first group, a 2.7 mm optic along with a 5 mm bipolar forceps and scissors were used, whereas in the second group, a 5 mm optic and a 3 mm bipolar forceps were used. These groups were compared to a third group in which a 5 mm optic and a 5 mm bipolar forceps were used. Objective To evaluate the clinical application of CT-guided percutaneous microwave coagulation therapy(PMCT) to patients with hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) after transarterial chemoembolization(TACE).Methods Thirty-three patients with HCC undertook TACE first.They would undergo either TACE or PMCT based on the results of AFP and liver imaging such as CT/MR after 2 to 4 weeks of the primary TACE.Two-step method puncture was to perform puncture of guiding-needle of PMCT.Firstly,a lumbar-puncture needle(0.6 mm in diameter and 8 cm long) punctured the mass.Secondly,it was to reintroduce the guiding-needle(2.0 mm in diameter and 13.5 cm long) of PMCT,according to the angle and depth between the lumbar-puncture needle and the mass of recheck-CT.Then we introduced the antenna of PMCT and performed PMCT.All patients were followed up between 5 and 48 months(mean,25.5 months).Based on the results of follow-up,therapeutic effect,survival time and recurrence were prospectively evaluated with statistical analysis
Objective The efficacy of combination transcatheter arterial chemoembolization(TACE) with subsequent percutaneous microwave coagulation therapy (PMCT)was assessed.Methods Eighteen patients with 28 tumors under TACE followed within 1~2 days by ultrasound guided PMCT,which were diagnosed by liver biopsy.Results Ninteen tumors measuring 5 cm in greatest dimension showed complete necrosis,5 of 9 tumors measuring ≥5 cm in greatest dimension showed complete necrosis.Conclusions Combination therapy with TACE and PMCT for liver tumor is effective.

This study evaluated if the intra-articular use of a haemostatic matrix (Floseal®) might decrease blood loss in total knee arthroplasty performed under continued aspirin use. Laparoscopic ovariectomy (LapOVE) using single-portal access was attempted in 17 client-owned cats of different breeds admitted for elective ovariectomy. A 12 mm umbilical portal was placed 1 cm caudal to the umbilicus with the cat in dorsal recumbency. Then, a laparoscope with an operating channel was introduced into the portal with the cat in lateral recumbency. The right ovary was pulled to the abdominal wall using grasping forceps and fixed to the abdominal wall by a transabdominal suspension suture. The ovarian vasculature, suspensory ligament and proper ligament were progressively cauterised and transected with multifunction bipolar electrocoagulation forceps. Material and methods. The group of 60 patients with ingrowing toenail which was randomized into two groups underwent partial matrixectomy in surgical outpatient clinic between 2009-2013.
