INTRODUCTION: A debate can be a pedagogical method used to instill essential functions in pharmacy students. This non-traditional teaching method may help to further develop a number of skills that are highlighted in the current Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education Standards 2016 and Center for the Advancement of Pharmacy Education Educational Outcomes 2013. COMMENTARY: Debates have also been used as an educational tool in other health disciplines. Current pharmacy literature does illustrate the use of debates in various areas within the pharmacy curriculum in both required and elective courses; however, the current body of literature would suggest that debates are an underutilized teaching tool in pharmacy experiential education ...

We bought this play gym for Toby after trying out a dreadful Lamaze one. We were looking for something that would entertain him and help with developing his co-ordination and attention skills.. The gym was very easy to put up and ready to use within minutes. To look at, the gym is very attractive. It has black and white spots which are great to catch a very young babies attention when they can only really see high contrasts. Some of the attachments are also black and white which again, is great for a young baby. As well as the high contrast black and white, there is a variety of colours on the arches of the gym and the actual play mat. Toby loves looking at the colours now he is a bit older.. The gym comes with several attachments. The best by far is the musical tiger which attaches to the top of the gym. The tiger has 20 minutes of music and flashing lights. Toby can sit and stare at these for hours! He waves his little arms and legs around when it is turned on and the closest he has came to ...
Experiences with online learning in higher education have grown due to advancements in technology, technological savviness of students, changes in student expectations, and evolution of teaching approaches in higher education. Blended learning, the thoughtful fusion of face-to-face instruction with online learning, can enhance student learning and provide rewarding teaching experiences for faculty members. Pharmacy educators are beginning to employ blended learning across the continuum of professional education from entry-to-practice programs to continuing professional education programs. The objectives of this paper are to describe our early experiences with blended learning and how it has enhanced our teaching experiences. Possibilities for blended learning are considered as new curricula for pharmacy programs are developed at our institution.

Diversity characteristics of applicants such as race, ethnicity, and socioeconomic status, should be included as part of the definition of what makes a competitive pharmacy school applicant. With a decline in the number of pharmacy school applicants and a rise in both enrollment and the number of pharmacy school graduates nationally since 2003, additional pressures are evident in pharmacy school admissions. As colleges and schools of pharmacy consider the make-up of each class, each program must define what makes an attractive Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) applicant and which applicant characteristics have potential to help them achieve their educational and broader health care workforce diversity goals.1 As pharmacy colleges and schools work to identify the appropriate prospective students for their institutions, there is a need to examine characteristics of the applicant pool to ensure that candidates with the potential to succeed in pharmacy school are not being overlooked during the admissions ...
