Deaf or hard-of-hearing individuals usually face a greater challenge to learn to write than their normal-hearing counterparts, because sign language is the primary communicative skills for many deaf people. The current body of research only covers the detailed linguistic features of deaf or hard-of-hearing students. Due to the limitations of traditional research methods focusing on microscopic linguistic features, a holistic characterization of the writing linguistic features of these language users is lacking. This study attempts to fill this gap by adopting the methodology of linguistic complex networks. Two syntactic dependency networks in order to compare the macroscopic linguistic features of deaf or hard-of-hearing students and those of their normal-hearing peers. One is transformed from a treebank of writing produced by Chinese deaf or hard-of-hearing students, and the other from a treebank of writing produced by their Chinese normal-hearing counterparts. However, about 90 percent of hearing-impaired students are attending institutions outside Gallaudet or NTID, what is needed is knowledge about the conditions for the deaf and hard-of-hearing students in mainstreamed colleges and universities. From what is known about the changes regarding labor market, demography, and educational system the lack of knowledge about deaf and hard-of-hearing students in this setting seems serious. The research task should be to find the social mechanisms that underlie the educational process in terms of integration and attrition. On May 18, 2016, the Institute for Higher Education Policy (IHEP) released a series of 11 papers envisioning a national postsecondary education data ecosystem for the 21st century. The papers are the result of a year-long effort to think differently about the way we collect and disseminate information about our students and our institutions to meet the increasingly complex needs of the higher education community. Now in its fifth year, this math competition for middle school students makes math fun and engaging. Participants solve a variety of math problems within designated time periods. Trophies and cash prizes go to the winners in several categories. This paper examines the meaning of plurality and diversity with respect to deaf childrens sign and spoken language exposure and repertoire within a super diverse context. Data is drawn from a small-scale project that took place in the North of England in a Local Authority (LA) site for deaf education. The project documented the language landscape of this site and gathered five individual case studies of deaf children to examine their plural and diverse language practices at home and at school. Analysis of the language landscape and case studies from this context is undertaken in order to define and exemplify deaf childrens language plurality and diversity in terms of context and individual experience. Concepts of repertoire are explored with particular reference to the unique type of translanguaging that the plural use of sign and spoken languages affords. Senate Bill 1 is a significant piece of education legislation that revises the assessment and accountability system for K-12 education in Kentucky. The bill calls on the Department of Education, in collaboration with the Council on Postsecondary Education, to plan and implement a process for revising academic content standards to increase the rigor and focus the content of K-12 education. Working collaboratively, staff members from the two agencies developed a comprehensive process to revise standards in key content areas. A planning process also was developed to reduce college remediation rates and increase graduation rates of postsecondary students with developmental education needs.
