Abstract: Critical care nursing necessitates specialized knowledge and skill acquisition. Because of this, intensive care units have historically hired competent acute care nurses. Due to the current nursing shortage, critical care units are now hiring new graduate nurses. In light of this trend, one way to provide effective teaching to the tasks and critical thinking involved with ICU nursing is by assigning new graduate nurses a mentor. The purpose of this study was to examine the experiences of mentees and mentors in a structured mentorship program. These perceptions were gleaned through a qualitative study using focus group methodology and a convenience sample of five mentees and six mentors. Results of this study revealed the following shared perceptions from the mentees and mentors: (1) availability, (2) sense of community, and (3) support and knowledge. AbstractThe retention rates for multiracial students in higher education have been the focus of researchers, student affairs practitioners, and other key stakeholders for many years. Despite the increase of this population attending online doctoral programs, the retention rates continue to remain in question. The research problem for this study examined how online multiracial doctoral students perceive the effectiveness of their online universitys student engagement and academic achievement as it pertains to student retention. The theoretical framework of the study was Tintos theory of institutional departure, which addressed student challenges in establishing positive engagement practices in their online learning environments. Data from seven participants were collected through interviews on Zoom and analyzed using thematic content analysis. In-depth semistructured interviews were used to capture the unique understandings of multiracial doctoral students and their experiences in an online university.

Her doctoral research was on Energy use and GHG emission analysis of urban wastewater infrastructure and scoping for use of renewable energy resources. Her work focused on different forms of energy consumption and GHG emissions estimation for urban wastewater infrastructure. Prior to joining the Doctoral programme, Pratima worked as a Resource Scientist with Compusense Automation, in Ahmedabad and as Project Manager with Gujarat Council of Science and Technology (GUJCOST) - DST, Government of Gujarat. Heart failure is a clinical syndrome that manifests when there are structural and functional impairments to the heart that reduces the ability of the ventricles to fill or eject blood. The syndrome affects ~6 million Americans and is responsible for nearly 300,000 deaths annually. At the core of the syndrome are dysfunctional sarcomeres, the machinery that drives cardiac contraction and relaxation. By assessing the mechanical properties of human cardiac tissue, the information provided in this dissertation will provide data that demonstrates how sarcomeric dysfunction contributes to heart failure in the left and right ventricles. Additionally, these data will supply information on how probable therapeutics impact the mechanical properties of the heart and the clinical implications.
